Logs
I was heading down to Taupo to take part in the Taupo Ultramarathon, running 24km from Kinloch to Waihopai Bay on the W2K mountain bike trails. I left a couple of days earlier for some geocaching while I was in the area.I had stopped to find this over a year ago when I was on my way to Marton for a mud run. Didn't have any luck then, as there were muggles around and I couldn't spot the cache after a cursory search. This time I circled once and honed in on one location, which proved to hold the cache.
#15,337. Park, walk and grab on Rora Street in Te Kuiti. The GZ was fortunately all quiet at the time of our visit. Relatively quick find. Good hide. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.Favorite point added for the location and hide.*Thanks for the geocache placement, and for bringing us to this site, and **.T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e.**.M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.*---### LET US HAVE A BLOCK PARTY!!! ###On **May 3rd, 2025**, we will be celebrating 25 years of geocaching in **Rotorua, New Zealand** with a special **Block Party** event. Thanks for the replacement. Was down from Hamilton for football game and popped in for quick find. TFTC.
Have to log this as a dnf however there was a spot to the base that seemed obvious but on close inspection and moving, was empty. Was this a muggle theft or just me looking in the wrong place? Didnt want to spend too much longer as one of the resident locals was sitting outside the grocers conversing with himself and I wasnt too inconspicuous..Mihi ki a koe anyway
On a day trip to Ohakune and so an opportunity to pick off some caches en route. I thought Id try a quick stop here despite it being a busy Tuesday morning. After a bit of fluffing around, caching curiosity kicked in and I soon had the cache found. Thanks Jambocacher#5303Logged using Cachly.
After a run of dnfs I wasn't too confident this would be here but a bit of a nose took me nearly straight to GZ and a nice quick find after a circle of this cool statue
DNF from me. I did find a Lego wheelbarrow though Geohounds enjoyed the outing nevertheless
One of the team lived nearby and was around when these were installed, so pretty cool to pick this one up. Only had to circumnavigate once before I spotted the sneaky hide. Nice work Jambocacher. Like others have pointed out, there were two containers. I only signed one. Returned as found. TFTC!
Making our way from Hamilton to New Plymouth today - grabbed a few caches on the way. Parked nearby and started searching - we took far too long finding this and that doh! moment when it was found. We did find two containers??Clever hide though TFTCTim and Viv - ddm
We were being watched so did some grocery shopping before coming back to look. Mr B was soon singing the words got it which are always nice to hear! Clever indeed TFTC
,, Dieser Cache konnte heute erfolgreich geloggt werden.Danke an den owner fr's legen und pflegen TFTC Schmerzbefreit
The hint and previous logs made clear what to look like and shortly after my name was in the logbookTFTCShrioyama
Heading north to Cambridge with rattll on a rainy day. Stopped in Te Kuiti for lunch, then came to investigate this wonderful sculpture. FP, they really are amazing beasties. Difficult to search, as I felt rather exposed to passers-by, but found eventually with rattll's help. Two containers present? Ah, well. No problems. Tftc!
Came back with some disabled clients and found this one after a helpful hint from an ex geocacher. Found exactly where i thought it should have been last time I just didnt look hard enough. Thankyou for the cache. Cache visited by voodoo tramp, mystery in the museum and marks frog.
Looked for this one in the 6th and didnt find it but it was a long day and getting dark and after the other 2 in te kuiti appearing to have been muggled i didnt put in alot of effort searching here. I loved the weta display though. Thanks for bringing me here.
Accio 09:58:17Nearing the end of our fantastic North NZ touring holiday, T4mmmy and I are now heading from south to north for our flight this afternoon - on a schedule now. Took a few moments to find this one, but in the rain nobody else cared. Our last physical find in New Zealand (Ad Labs at the airport as well). Pleased we also got one same day back in Australia so that one and this will be statistically relevant to us now. Thanks Jambocacher for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #11869}*
Last day of our amazing holiday. Last logbook find in New Zealand. Happy (but sad). Found with Pprime`.This cache is part one of my two countries in one day statistic!!
We had to make a quick stop at The Warehouse and when we saw the amount of likes on this cache we thought we had better stop. Thanks for the smiley and thanks for a little education in the morning .
We both spent a little time searching likely places. Mr E found it. We both laughed, perfect! Thanks for the fun Jambocacher.
Find #753Found while walking Te Araroa - new Zealands long pathway from Cape Reinga to Bluff. Thank you to all the cache owners who place and maintain these caches, and thank you to all the people who help me and others on the way. Some logs signed as LBB to save space.Took me a few minutes of puzzling but got there in the end. An awesome sculpture and creative cache, thanks for placing this one. Cache and log are in excellent condition but log is filling up quick
volunteering around the world we finally made it to NZ and found this special cache! TFTC Instagram @vagateers
Quick find of the cunning cache on this lucky Friday the 13th, cool wt, thanks Jambocacher!
#2582. This is day 1 of a 9 day trip from Wellington, via Inglewood to Paihia with Anna my German wwoofer. Today we are heading to Auckland to pick up GB Leader and head on up to the Bay of Islands.Stopped to grab this one, and happily Anna found it after a bit of a search. Tftc Jambocacher. Great spot. Would never have know about these giant weta if it wasn't for geocaching.
Bitta cool hunting round for this one but didn't have a pen left a lil something in there for the next beach loving person
Previously looked for this cache a few years ago and think it was missing because when tried the exact same spot again today had it in hand within seconds. We then a few moments comparing the two different wetas trying to work out why they are different. Will have to go home and do some weta research. Tftc
This took us longer than it should. Geogirl and Loj were looking on the correct side, but not in right place, once I went the their side I found it pretty easily. Great spot!
Today we are driving from Whanganui to Auckland so super early start. Had a list of 10 caches to find on the way to break up the journey.
It was a pretty miserable day weather wise but the scenery was fab. Was a shame we didn’t get to see the mountains.
This one had been on the list to attempt at the start of the day but then I saw all the dnf so took it off the list. However when I noted the new log book at the other hide thought we should give it a crack. A couple of laps of the artwork and suddenly spied the prize. TFTC this is a super hide.

Will probably never come here again so that this sad smiley will be on my map forever
We searched for a while, but no luck in finding this cache.
We did get some good photos of the giant bugs.

After a DNF 1st time round. Pleased to find this time. I know we looked there so thanks for replacing
Round and round and round again...until you REALLY look! Especially with the hint
After a short stop for a coffee and a pie in Te Kuiti I could two giants. These one was #2.
Thanks for hidding.
Thanks for hidding.
I found the perfect spot, but no cache. Then geokid checked again and of course it was there! Same geokid had borrowed my pen for a crossword so I couldn't sign. Photo of new logbook attached. Nice Weta! TFTC
Logbook and container replaced. We have habitual mugglers. Sorry for any inconvenience.
I'm on a road trip to the far north, attempting to complete the PWGT Tahi Geotour.
This is day five, a soggy day driving from Whangarei to Te Kuiti and hopefully completing PWGT1.
Will expand on my logs, post photos, qualifying caches for challenges, etc. When I get home. TFTC
Stopped by here on my way into town. Cache was pretty straightforward.

Over visiting family over from the UK, This is such a cool art piece. We could see that this was clearly gone and as we wanted to bring the kiddos round to do some caching we placed a new one here only as it was 100 percent gone, we just found old log on ground and clear this gets muggled often. . (i thought we left a note or message co but can't see that now but we had a bit of things getting replaced by kiddos as they were on our accounts) It clearly lasted a few cachers but then got muggled again. Thanks for placing here. You can see our signature and Louf71 on pic on log on 10/10/22 (Sorry for the very very late Log, between limited Data, some issues with our travel, some personal issues and a build up meaning the ADHD couldn't cope tackling these but finally getting logged Please forgive)
Log book is saturated and not in any bag or container. Travelling and have nothing to help dry or relace sorry
Great place for a cache, we stopped by after fueling up across the road. Thanks for the cache, glad they aren't that big in real life lol
Couldn't find it last time but came back again and explored other obvious places. quick find. TFTC
Had a Tiki tour round Taranaki visiting friends and now head back north. Stayed in Piopio last night at Tui park. Woke up early for a cycle ride to collect some local caches. This Giant series is clearly a favourite with people and it didn’t disappoint. Took us a while to track this one down. Loved the sculptures. Thanks for the smiley.
Thanks for checking it so quickly, you inspired me to go back. Found easily, once I ignored the possum and the wetas!
Those weta must be vicious, there's a dead possum in the garden at the bottom of the wall! Is the cache awol as the previous person suggests?
