gps was all over the place so i wasnt sure i was going to find this but using some geocache logic i was able to sus out the hide pretty quicklyTFTCsoooo many baby leeches ;-;
Had already hiked and was tired when I reached the reserve, so I thought 'Oh no' when I realised I had to climb again. Anyway, I made it up, and then readily found the cache at GZ. TFTC
Come for a walk with the family and found this cache with them.
I already found it back in 2019.

Nice little hike up to the GZ. Coordinates are a little average as per the description but a great find!

A short hike up the hill to the cache, which was found in good condition. It took longer to remove the leeches from our shoes then it took Brewmaker and I to find the cache.

I decided to jog around Crosslands (fact: there is a big change in altitude between the gate at the top and the water; fact: you really feel this on the way back up, particularly if you try to go via a bush route - "Abandoned Road" was clearly abandoned a while ago), and decided this was a good opportunity to find this cache, which I have noted wistfully in many visits to the reserve, mainly with non-cachers. I headed up a geotrail and was soon at GZ, although it took some time to get the level right (not helped by the change in the environment since the hint was written) and make the find - TNLNSL, TFTC

Went for an early morning run to Crosslands and took a short detour to find this cache. Found it easily, close to the spot that the GPS led me to. There was no one around so I had a few goes on the flying fox on the way out. Some of us never grow up.
Found it, but the “leaning tree” is no longer leaning, it has fallen completely and looks like it had been there for a while.
Found it easily enough, there is a small geotrail going all the way up now. Doesn't make it any easier getting back down though.
Thanks for the cache in this lovely spot.

Our mission today was to pick up caches in the last two sectors we needed to complete our 360 degree circle as per Project GC. This cache came up in one of our list of caches to target and it was a nice easy find once we had arrived at the right level. Thanks go to Baktrak for placing this cache. The log was signed and all was put back as it had been found before we left, along with ilook4geo.
Out on the hunt today for a few particular caches with goingplaces2. This was one of the targets. No trouble finding it after a it of a trudge, then signing the log and replacing it. TFTC.
Visiting with some Scouts from Tambo. Canoed up from Berowra, stayed overnight, and back to Berowra. Introducing the Scouts to Geocaching but couldn’t find. Ran out of time so had to record a DNF. Have found once before but couldn’t remember exactly where. Bummer.
I wasn't able to do the expedition I'd intended for today, so I was pleased to make this find as it got me out into bushland, even if only for a short while. A lovely spot for a hide. TFTC.
A little difficult bushwalking up to get it, I kept slipping over, buy found it in the end! Woo!

After attending the BattleCache - Celebrating IGD 2019 event here, had to go and find this one.
I headed up the hill with a few other and we to GZ.
After a short search, we soon had the Cache in hand.
Signed the log and place it all back.

It is far too hot today for this kind of nonsense, but I have a streak to continue, and I’m not letting a scramble stop me!
I was worried, looking up from the bottom, that some rock climbing was going to be required, but (while I would not recommend thongs for the ascent) those fears were not realised.
Thanks for a lovely view and a nice spot to sit while I signed the log.

After a scramble up the hill, we first searched too low, then went a bit higher - bingo! Never been to this area before (despite living in cherrybrook for >10yrs), the park looks like a lovely area for a picnic! Had a balance-walk on the giant fallen tree on the way back to the car. Would have had a go on the flying fox park equipment too, but there were loads of kids lining up for it :p Maybe another time! TFTC
Such an excellent location for a geocache. A challenging scramble up and down to GZ, but well worth the effort. Thanks for bringing us here, Baktrak. TFTC
After finding sirroN kcuhC, a puzzle I actually know the kooky facts about, I continued the drive down to Crosslands Reserve for our day of bird watching. I'd planned my time so I would arrive early and have time to search for this cache before our meeting time.
Everything worked well and the early arrivers were congregating at one of the picnic shelters directly in line with GZ, so off I went.
It was a hot and humid walk but well worth it as I came within 3m of a beautiful Lyrebird which was not scared by me and continued scratching around. What a bonus considering I was really here for birdwatching anyway!
Once near GZ I began to check possible spots while I waited for the GPS to settle. It did and pointed over there, hmm, I've just had a wounded knee can I do that? You bet!
Not a bad view from GZ!
Signed the log and took the two TBs, they've been here exactly 2 months, time to move on.

We did end up seeing a Lyrebird on our walk. It was running across the grass. They run like a cartoon road runner!

Visiting from Melbourne and looking for Death adders but no luck but lots of Lace monitors found this cache with my son Scotttiew
An easy find this afternoon while we were down for a picnic! Thanks for the hunt! Matt and Court
I think I found the trailhead near the bottom of the hill but I couldn't be sure as there seemed to be a few different trails heading in roughly the same direction. In any case, I got up to GZ relatively easily without losing any skin off my bare shins. A few great caves up here to hide a container and I think I thoroughly checked them all out before eventually getting at the right level and the right section along the row of caves to discover the well hidden container. A day of caching. Came down to crosslands heaps of people camping here. I remember camping over the river has a cub and scout. Found with JordsAU and pk1965 tl fairly easy. Cheers for the cache.

On an afternoon cache run in the Heights we quickly located this cache in the second spot we looked. Our first target ended up being 60m shy of GZ, but tracking deeper and steeper, we noticed the leaning log. After we both signed the log, we replaced as found. Cache and logsheet are in good condition.

I passed through Crosslands about a month ago while doing the Hornsby to Berowra leg of the Great North Walk, but didn't have enough time (or spare energy) to go looking for this cache. Today, though, I decided to do the slightly shorter walk from Mt Kuring-gai to Berowra to make a decent attempt at both this cache and the one further along at Sam's Creek.
GPS reception is indeed rather poor at GZ and there were several objects that could've matched the hint, but after a bit of searching in likely hiding places I soon struck pay dirt.
I took the Bernard's TB to move on. Many thanks for an enjoyable hide.

#3021 (1 of 2 today) (Streak day 366)
And the streak hits 366 days - including a 29 February to boot! But today is also my wedding anniversary - one of the reasons that in 3 years of caching I only have one find on this day of the year.
So... I suggested to the Geowife that for our anniversary we go on a picnic. We don't do that very often and she was more than happy to go along with the idea - knowing there would be a cache or two nearby.
I've never been to Crosslands before, and neither had she, although she had heard of it. So we arrived just after midday and picked a spot to lunch in the manner to which we are accustomed, and then explored the area, including one cache find.
Not many people here today so we had the place almost to ourselves.
On the drive back out we stopped for a second cache and were treated to a lyre bird display on the way back to *The Hademobile*. It went through magpies, kookaburras and many more.
Excellent end to the day.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
We walked across the field in the direction of GZ. Not a really steep climb, but needed to watch my footing due to all the leaf letter. As a result the Geowife didn't attempt the last 20 metres.
Checked a number of spots, and after 5 minutes spotted something a bit suss from about 10 metres away. Lets try that. CIH!
Completed signing duties and as these Picnic Grounds aren't in a National Park, I dropped the *Bern'ard's trackable*.
Then replaced and continued enjoying the grounds.

Camped at the reserve for a night while on the great north walk. We arrived put the packs down setup camp and went to grab this cache. Got to gz quickly following the track and then spotted the cache give away straight away. Lovely area tftc
Yesterday's logs, suggested a cache check might be in order. Moved it about 1.5m back to the original spot and rechecked coords. After 7 minutes, the Garmin was wandering 1-3m from GZ, so good enough considering the high-angle horizons here.
Calypso62 decided that it would be a great idea to take LucasSmurf and myself out for a treasure hunt and locate (hopefully) a cache. This one was reasonably close by so off we trotted.
Arrived in the vicinity of GZ and started our climb upward. Not too far up, LucasSmurf decided it was best for me to carry him up. Boy he is getting HEAVY!!!
Wasn't long before we made it to where we need to be, and wiping the sweat off my head, we signed the logbook and descended down again.
Of course we needed to stop for the compulsory swing at the end before heading back to the car and home with our adventure complete.

After doing some shopping at Hornsby then visiting my family at Asquith, I suggested to geoson, Smurfyguy that we take Mr Two Year Old (aka LucasSmurf) out for a drive to Crosslands for a treasure hunt. Smurfyguy thought this was a good idea so we all bundled into the car and off we went. I wasn't sure what time the gates closed but upon arrival we were pleased to see the gates would remain open until 5:30pm so we had an hour. Plenty of time! There were still lots of people picnicking and also quite a few tents set up for the night.
With the cache name in my mind and the direction the compass needle was pointing, I could see where we had to go. With LucasSmurf in toe with his little legs, we began the ascent. It wasn't long before it was necessary to carry the little bloke as we climbed up. I had 12m accuracy under the canopy but kept following the arrow upward. We arrived at a point with the GPSr saying we had 3m to go. I looked up and there was the cache, perched on a ledge! We signed the log, replaced the cache with a rock on top of it and headed back down for a swing before making our way home.
This was a great little adventure Baktrak that I enjoyed completing with my geoson and geograndson. Many thanks for placing the cache and adding to my global geocaching experiences.

What a great adventure I had with my daddy, Smurfyguy and my Poppy, Calypso62. I love going for a walk in the bush but this time it was more of a carry than a walk. after finding the cache, I **Just** had to have a swing!! Thanks for hiding this cache Baktrak for us to come and find. Cheers.

20/6/15. 12:23 PM. Cache #2613. Streak day #363.
2nd of 4 finds today. Cleared my last unfounds from Hornsby Heights (today's DNF at "Across the Land" at the end of my run will be the only one left).
After "geocaching.com - small round tub", I got back onto Somerville Road and followed it all the way up to Crosslands Reserve. There were a few hardy winter campers in the park today. Once I checked which direction the cache was, I realised where the "Heights" came into it. Found a reasonably good track to follow and didn't take too long to get up to the L.D.T.T. mentioned in the hint (although I was only 5m away from it when I noticed it).
From there, an easy spot of a likely hide, which didn't disappoint - cache in hand! Signed, replaced and descended to the picnic ground, then headed over to "Burton's Boatyard" on foot. I enjoyed the climb up to this one and it was my favourite for the day, so worth a favourite point. TFTC.

This is a lovely spot - I higly recommend a refreshing swim.
This is a lovely spot - I higly recommend a refreshing swim.
On a caching adventure for my birthday we decided to visit Hornsby heights as there looked to be a few geocaches in a similar vicinity along a nice bush walk. Not taking a close look at the map and never having visited the area before, I assumed that Somerville Road ended at the start of the National Park and it was fire trail from there. Little did I know that this road not only continued to the other side of the area, it even led to a super popular picnic area!! (yes I probably should have done some background research but I didn't really feel like it on Christmas - the day before)
After quite an adventure (and then DNF) at 'Across the Land', then walking up to the road from there and finding 'In the Loop', and bushbashing downhill to 'Burton's Boatyard', we exited the bush, and made our way to the parking. From here, after a short snack break, we decided that there was a tiny path from near the sign that we could follow to GZ. This was not much of a path and led to geomum receiving an excruciating bite from a rather irate ant, but did lead us to the general area. We scaled the steep slope, then after a little searching I uncovered the box. I happily signed in and replaced, exiting the area via a much shorter and more pleasant route, through some 'campsites'.
Thanks Baktrak for another great bush cache.

I was on a thru hike with a group of students going from Hornsby to Mt Kuringai. A couple of students I had introduced to geocaching recently but most of them had never heard of it or done it before. As part of the activities on the hike I decided to include the geocaches we were going past. I would find a spot to stand and tell them all that the cache was within a 20m radius. I would also give them the details of the size and any hints. The kids all loved the idea and the thrill of caching, so lets hope we have some new cachers out there!
This cache was attempted during a toilet and water break. A couple of cachers came up with me and we searched for it together. Even with the hint this one took a little while. There were plenty of possibilities but it wasn't until I really took in the surroundings and enjoyed all levels of the view that I noticed where I needed to be. When we worked out the area the hide became pretty obvious and I managed yo get it before the other 2 (I have a reputation to uphold!).
TFTC cheers

We came down crosslands to give my new bike a spin and figured we'd go for a couple of caches while we were here. The GPS was REALLY lost at the GZ, it kept flicking from 7m to 250m accuracy! Really, it only took a a couple of minutes to find it after reading the hint and the logs. In essence, keep climbing. SL TFTC.
Second find for this cache, introducing more cub scouts to geo caching.

The hint was very welcome with this one - the gps had stopped me quite a long distance short of the cache's hidey-hole.
