An interesting location in the middle of nowhere. We managed to get there and back with dry feet, with only one small damp area to cross. It certainly wasn't terrain 4 today. The cache was a quick easy find. The outer container has a few holes in the bottom, and with some moisture in the inner container, the log was a bit damp, but fine to sign. Not bad if it's the 2015 replacement. TFTC
It was time to drive from Lumsden to Walter Peak Station to locate and sign off a few caches along this road.
Driving up the valley from the Mavora Lakes turnoff and looking at the hills that had been shaped by a massive glacier makes one feel very small and insignificant in the way of things.
Cheers for the cache.

Im not really a hiker, but pleased to knock off both a T4 and a T5 in the space of a few days. Check out my great log on Monumental GC39AN4. My old holey New Balance shoes surprising kept me dry. A quick easy find, dont think it deserved a T4, but I'll claim it. As the choppers disappeared over the hill, it instantly became quiet, with no noise echoing through the valley. Also a great place for a memorial... RIP Russell.
Nice decent walk, away from the road, and into a lovely space.
On the return walk, this was emphasized when some helicopters passed over, punctuating the serenity, before they left and it returned to pastoral serenity.
Out for a days caching up to Mavora Lakes with friends SW, TT, & GV

This was an nice peaceful walk, a bit watery in places and mind the odd rabbit hole! But worth it for the view and the resulting smiley. TFTC
Easy 20 minute roundtrip in flip flops. Stayed mostly dry even though it has been raining a lot over the past few days. Just have to find the right path. TFTC
Took a trip with DSI to check out a spot for possibly lightweight camping plus walk with the girls.
Called in here for a leg stretch. Good boots so my feet didn't get wet and we even second guessed the clearings and didn't have to bush bash.
Thanks for the smilie.

A after looking at possible camping spots for a light weight camp. Ruru and i Decided to take a look around and see if mavora would be a good fit .a spot of caching is a added bonus to the trip tftc
Birthday trip to Mavora, sigh hitting the big 50. Paid the increased $8 each and found a spot to camp at. Moonlight walk to the GZ and caramel container got swapped for a more camo'd caramel one (no holes) after finding the special place. It glows in the beams. Crispy dry ground mostly with some boggy bits. Threw in some more swag and checked the goods over with a few muggles SL. All is well again tucked away less visible. Definitely no vehicles. Thanks for leading us here for the cache.
Hubby made the quick journey up the hill to receive this cache and spot the interesting surprise there.
Wandered down thecriver. As usual best fish to be seen from where trees preventing fly casting. Detoured up through the "dry bog" to gc. No fish but good gc catch. Nice wilderness find. Tftc
Returned to Mavora, this time for several caches in the area, including the archived [virtual](https://coord.info/GC28AA) at the swingbridge. Found a good park off the road for the car and sauntered over to the GZ by moonlight. The ground was crispy dry on the most direct route up to the area but one could see what wet areas were to be avoided. Found the con after the hunter had administered his maintenance, my second icecream cache, and yep it wouldn't have stayed dry for long. Brought along a prepared inner container for the okay logs sheets which should combat the constant damp. I seed my white PVC bags into caches that are in trouble from the conditions. Dropped in some waterproof swag, some extra RITR logstrips and grabbed the wery wet passed-over rusty TB bearsy for a spell in the laundry room. SL and rebagged the components in new bags. Returned the cache to it's place and righted some of the flora around the stone that had been giving a hiding.
Was looking for a larger hint object and instead found something much more special - and the cache. Thanks for leading me here for the cache.

1700hrs: Opening day for fishing season and was up for s look and have often driven by but never sought this cache out. . . . until today.
Cache was full of water. Needs to be in something other than an ice cream container. Log book wasn't to bad thanks to the zip lock bag but the travel bug toy was sodden.
I have poked a couple of holes on the bottom of the container to let water drain out, but really does need a !ore substantial container.

I found this cache with my czech travelmate who placed a travel bug inside for a frend of him. This one wishes to travel back to the czech rep. Tftc a nice idea for a spot. Best gladtony242 and jakub (germany and czech)
My KOOKY trackable item just enetered this cache. My frined from Czech, who is there for a trip, placed him to the cache and now we guess, who of them will be the first back home in Czech... Help him to get home..
What a lovely place to have had a camp site. Have had a lot of sun lately so ground was not too boggy at all. Was a beautiful day again today so had a lovely walk in. TFTC
Found this by chance on a stroll 28/12/15, thought there has to be a cache over there and what do you know... It was great to be back in mavora
This is the first time I've been to Mavora. So lovely, planning on staying the night then for some hut bagging tftc oh no wet feet
That is something different to find. The bog was dry to walk to GZ so no issues there. This area is one of the old camping spots I come to as a kid. Love Movora.
Very nice area, lakes, forest and mountains with very few people at this time of the year. The new logbook is perfectly dry. Tftc
Ha! Nice surprise. When I lifted it up, it was so heavy that it fell down and the water splashed all over me
But nice location indeed, thanks for showing

Found this one while on holiday from home at Whangamata we stayed

come to TFTC We missed the wet area by going down the road a bit
further and going up the other side of the trees

What a cool wee spot. I was a little dark on it when I submerged my last pair of dry shoes in the swamp, but all was forgiven when I got to GZ, which obviously has a lot of meaning for someone.
Many thanks for your cache,

a nice place for a walk while camping at North Mavora lake with the family. Saw heaps of hares in the area around the cache - a lovely spot that we would not have know about if it wasn't for this cache. thanks
A bit adventurous way to the cache - especially if you try to keep your boots dry (what a mistake!!)
I did the trip to the cache twice: first for the cache and second for hope to find lost glasses there (I didnt). Box was plainly visible and wet inside.
Second to find, but first online
Tought I will be the first, but somebody was there yesterday
TFTC and Merry Christmas

Found in the morning as I was heading south to walk another section of Te Araroa. I really enjoyed coming up here and was most impressed by the Lone Ranger cache. It would be great to know more about the history of this site though. Emptied some water out of the container, but the logbook was dry. Thanks for the FTF and sorry for the delay in logging. Good cache O & E, thanks.
