On our way back to Evandale from Ben Lomond we stopped to find a few caches. This was the first of 4 it was quite tricky I dont think I could have managed it myself, Geohusband had to clamber up for it. TFTC a random old Geandstand
Merging my accounts. Found this as Hoterini 18/5/13. Now tracking together with Ambers007 and merging the old finds.
TFTC. Cache and contents are in excellent shape. What a beautiful old grandstand. I guess it must have been an old footy or cricket ground many years ago.
What a tricky little hide We looked up, down, around for over an hour with no luck, but I was determined to find this cache. Sometimes its an advantage being short but that wasnt the case today. My muggle friend taught me how to step up when you have a friend with you.The sign on the entrance gate talks about working being done on the hall, hopefully this tricky cache wont be affected.TFTC Tassie TrekkersKeep smiling
We continued today our tour in Tasmania, AUS, and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Traditional-Cache.
The weather was - said in one word – simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood.
The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging.
Thanks to Tassie Trekkers for the generation of this nice cache Grandstand (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.
PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they appeared.
Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood.

Checked on cache today, still high and dry in its original position. Have increased terrain rating to highlight the difficulty of reaching cache.
Been looking for 40 minutes definitely can’t find it might need some maintenance work I reckon someone has took it
Headed in with the gps, spotted the most obvious hiding spot, but no dice! Spent the next 15 minutes searching, finally circled back for a third time and spotted the cache. In the first place I looked lol. Great hide TFTC. Favourite point given
Checked on a maintenance run through the area, cache was missing, a new one is now in place.
Well we are wending our way home after a three day sabatical at Scamander with family. Weather has been kind, even on top of South Sister where the views are fantastic and the bonus was a couple of caches. So now we are taking the scenic route back to the north west via Mathinna, Blessington and Deddington on a bit of a geo trail. Hhmm ! Like Beetles2 some months ago, we lucked out on this one as well. The place was absolutely deserted so we had plenty of time to examine extensively ......... including looking under said structure in case the prize either fell or was discarded underneath. The suspicion is (given the hint) and reading other logs, that this one is most likely not present. Thanks Tassie Treckers for inducing us to stop here.
After doing the Geo Art Arrow trail this morning we decided to return to Launceston the long way and grab some out of the way caches en route.
The gate was locked but there was no fence next to it so we drove straight in and parked next to the grandstand.
Mr Beetle climbed all over the structure but unfortunately we couldn't find your container. With no reception we couldn't check previous logs.
Guess we'll have to earmark this one for a return visit some time.
Thanks.

Call found this was a very difficult geocache to find it needed to people and meant climbing and being in a rather precarious position. Thanks for the cache. Geo Maggie and Angus 88
Two old ladies found this to be a precarious climb. After some searching one of the old ladies spotted the location and then had to help the other do the climb, hanging on for dear life. Done with GeoMaggie2. Tftc
I'm not tall but I managed to hold on and balance to be able to reach and make the find. TNLN TFTC!
out and about with Lil Rafa caching for the work days. easy find with clues. TFTC TNLN log dry. a new place I have not seen before. search with 2 mugg;es that were interested in our hobby.
Thanks for the cache Tassie Trekkers.
Found on a short visit to the Launceston area with RLD4963. We had great fun searching for this cache - despite it being midweek, and the whole area being quiet, as we approached GZ, we could see two touring bicycles heavily ladden with panniers, and a couple of people sitting in the Grandstand. Oh well, we thought, we are just going to have to tell them what we are doing. It was a retired couple from Launceston on their way to a nearby camping area having a morning tea break. They didn't know what geocaching was but they had heard the word, when we explained what it was they were keen to join in the search, they even made a couple of suggestions of where we could look. In the end, RLD4963 spotted the cache and our acquaintances could see what we were talking about. We chatted a bit more and then we all continued on our way on a beautiful sunny morning.

What a delightful and unusual setting, we had the place to ourselves . Good job Diadem is tall
Too short actually reach. I got a stick to feel around and heard the unmistakable sound of a cache. I’m signing it off as my vertically challenged self most certainly gave it a good rattle.
Just on another family adventure for the day and thought we would tackle all the catches on the way up the Mt.
TFTC took a while to find this one, being tall is handy, on our way to Ben Lomond with Stopalot
Touring Tassie in our motorhome and finding some caches along the way with scotjohnos. Today was roaming around the Ben Lomond area. TFTC
Just realised that if we can find just a few more caches before the new year that 2019 will be our best caching year so far so out and about to find some more before the deadline. Funny little grandstand in the middle of nowhere. TFTC
Found it 10 December 2019, Geocaching app doesn't upload offline log anymore TFTC
A day out visiting the Ben Lomond area sightseeing and caching.
No trouble in retrieving and returning this one.
Be a great camp spot if they allowed it.

Hi Tassie Trekkers, thanks for this cache. This took a while as our GPSrs initially had us at the wrong end, so pleased when it was finally found. This was one of our drive-by/park'n'grab found today with AlbyDangles. Glad I wasn't height challenged! Thanks for all your caches in this area.
Was up this way today on a control point for Tassie's round of the Australian Rally Championship, with AlbyDangles and (his) AmazingDaughter.
A great day with great company, a nice fire, excellent food cooked on the nice fire, good mountain views, and some caching on the way home.

Hello Tassie Trekkers thank you for the cache.
We were on our way back from a car rally, so stopped off to find some of the caches that we didn't find on out last trip up here.
After a bit of a search EeePes found it.

I had doubts that I would be able to reach this one as I am 5'3" in the old money or 163 cm. After a lot of looking and pretty much guessing where this cache might be hiding, I could actually reach it! But only reach it, nothing else. I tried every which way to position myself to get it but to no avail. Some time later I decided to look around for some tools to aid the extraction, found what might help and after a lot of manouvering and cursing the hider, I eventually had the cache in my hand. What a great feeling that was! So glad I didn't walk away from that one without signing it. TFTC.
What an interesting place that we would have never come to otherwise, the cache was found by toolman and we all added our name to the log, as normal one of us needed a dunny but it was locked, you can guess who it was i'm sure....
This must have been a busy place once but not today just us and ourselves.
Thanks for the cache.

I'd never stopped here before, no reason to as the last time I was out here I didn't know about geocaching. Now I've been brainwashed and inducted into the cult
I really have to ask why they would build the playground there and not off to the side. One day the Blessington Bloomers may want to have a training session here but there is a bit of an obstacle in the way.
According to the toolman I was a bit short. Hmmm, I'm not convinced he's any taller. Maybe that big mouth gives him an extra lift.
Thanks Tassie Trekkers

A quick find in the grandstand
Another good day out in the 4wd for a morning adventure around deddington. I have ridden the road bike along the gravel road over to blessington but have never been way up the back on the gravel road. Some pretty specky spots.
I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. Given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After over 5000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before the end of next year. It's surprising how much is has increase since doing this.

In Tassie with family doing a short trip around this lovely island. We saw some amazing scenery, wildlife and visited some beautiful places while touring around in our motorhome. I took the opportunity to stop and grab any caches when we could stop. We only had a few DNF's and made some good discoveries and clever hides during the trip. We had some fun and laughs along the way.
Some great views to be had while stopping to find this one. What a fantastic old grandstand to explore then it didn't take too long to have the container was in hand to be stamped.
Thanks Tassie Trekkers for placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

#737, 2018-09-15 at 12:54, TFTC. Found after a brilliant ride up Ben Lomond in the snow.
Today we decided to visit family in Launceston and turned off the Midland Highway just past Conara to gather a few caches in the Deddington/Blessington/White Hills area and this was one we found. A nice hall and a very pleasant rural drive. It was mid morning and the frost and ice hadn't melted. Small ponds of water were still frozen solid! Mrs W was pleased she had Mr W with her today as she would have been unable to retrieve. Even Mr W struggled. All good at GZ. TFTC
Have spent many times here at this hall and even on this grandstand but never to find a geocache. Had a fair idea where it was and with a little effort it was retrieved, signed & replaced. Now onto Ben Lomond tftc.
Found it. After having a fair idea as to where it was.
Never knew this place existed haha.
Never knew this place existed haha.
Returning from Mathinnna after a "farm maintenance" trip, we stopped so that I could add this one to the list of smilies. This looks to be a very safe hide in a well camouflaged container, all well with the cache and log. Added my signature and my calling card. TFTC Tassie Trekkers.
I have feeling I was *so* close. I'm height restricted though. There's always next time!
I have driven past this location a hundred times in the last year and finally I had a moment to stop and grab the cache.
This cache was hunted, tagged and released by activehunters tftc.

Had a look for this one on our way to Ben Lomond but couldn't find it and with no Internet couldn't read any logs to help us. Once we were up the mountain we had Internet so read a few logs and on our way back we stopped and found the cache quite quickly.
Hi there Tassie Trekkers.
We found your cache **"Grandstand"** at 10:38:00 AM today. (This brings our total find count to 18524).
The original plan today was to log a random cache some distance from our camp site, and then find a few more caches using the "next closest" method. We then logged "Ben & Back" & thought why not - we will do that instead - - and we had a great day!
We ended up finding a variety of container types and sizes on our journey & found 15 caches (& DNF'd 0).
##Thank you for placing a large cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places to visit on our nomadic wander around Australia.
It is really sad to note that the trend of placing small caches (without swaps) is increasing. While nanos and eclipse tins sometimes have their place in an urban environment these, along with 200ml Sistemas, seem to be the norm these days even out in more remote areas. It made us feel really glad to find a large, kid friendly cache here.##
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

No problems finding or ectracting...cache in top nick. Wonder if there was an oval in front at some stage...unusual just to see a grandstand like that. Many thanks for placing the cache for us all to enjoy Tassie Trekkers...cheers ST.
Spent a bit of time looking for this cache. Used the clue and still nothing. Just happened to look down at the ground under the grandstand. There it was laying on the ground with its lid off. Cache all fine. Now to try and figure out where you came from. Using the clue I put it back where I thought it came from. CO might want to check on it. TFTC Dooghan
Awesome spot to watch a game except they put a damn playground at centre forward. Who's brilliant idea was that? I did not and do not and I don't know of any personal limitations.[:X]

Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.
We missed visiting Ben Lomond when in this area last year so it was on the list before we board the ferry back to the North Island.
Beautiful weather for enjoying the drive in the countryside today.

We've now only got five weeks left of our six month stay (til the end of March '16) from the Kurrajong area, (Blue Mountains) NW of Sydney, to tour in the caravan and also visit our kids and grandkids in the Huon Valley On four previous visits before this visit, we were muggles, so we're having fun finding the caches we didn't even know were here!

A nice easy elevated find, however, upset the resident swallows and sent them into a spin. Have not had cause to visit this part of Tasi before, good excuse to get out and explore.. thanks..!!
Second attempt at this cache, first attempt ended with a DNF. Today I looked a little harder and found the container safe and sound. Another one to tick off the DNF list Certainly not one for the shorter cachers.

No luck finding this one today ... Looks like there's been some renovation work done on the building, so possible someone has found the cache hide
What a nice area. We had a picnic basket with us today and as it was lovely and warm we decided to stay here for lunch. A bit of a stretch but the cache was retrieved, signed and returned. Thanks for the cache.
#1800 - Found by a severely overstretched B after riding fully loaded from Longford. Had a nice evening's rest here. All part of the fun and challenges on our AroundOz bicycle tour. Many thanks to Tassie trekkers for establishing and maintaining this cache although a visit to the physio might be on the boards! Placement is worthy of a favourite point.
A quick and easy find with Catherine...But, what's the grandstand for? Sheep trials?
A nice spot for stopping.

Hi Trekkers
Of all nine caches I completed today this was my favourite.
Great views, a great spot and I left wondering what the miniature "SHOW GROUND" was for?
I figure they may have dog shows there sometimes? I wonder?
Found the cache; signed the log at 1713hrs.
