Found after going to two events today - even though these will do to keep the streak up I always find it good to find a cache as well This is a nice spot! Its a bit slippery though, and half on my energy was spent on trying to not slip over and slide down the hill right into the water At some point I laid eyes on the caches hiding spot and went, hmm you look suspicious, (something I NEVER would have thought or even noticed before I took up this hobby) and it turned out to be bang on. I found the cache, and I did NOT end up in the water, so Id consider this a win!The log was a bit damp but signable, and the subsequent smudging was giving the blue pen used by previous cachers a cool neon effect? Thanks for the cache!
A huge thank you to the cache owner for creating and maintaining a wonderful cache. EP79 and I have embarked on a three-month long geocaching trip across the globe, and we are both grateful and thrilled to discover new places and new friends. The first part of our trip is dedicated to Australia and New Zealand. Today was our last geocaching day in Canberra. We opted to find some caches on our own just to slow down a little bit, but we couldn't have left some coveted oldies behind. Inspired by the Canberra First Tour organized by the GeoBash Mega committee, we explored the beautiful country side around the capital city and enjoyed amazing wildlife, while picking caches along the way. I am very grateful for this find.Sorry for logging with a delay. The trip was really busy, but at least I get to revisit these caches again and enjoy great memories. Many thanks for the invite to a beautiful place and for a wonderful geocaching adventure. Greetings from Prague, the Czech Republic, Europe.
Thank you for the cache!Ironford and I came to Canberra for the MEGA event and other geocaching tours and events alongside it. It was an amazing week, and I enjoyed my time here very much. Today was our final full day in Canberra (driving to Sydney the next morning), so we made plans to get some awesome geo-highlights to mark the occasion. We spent some time in the centre, we did a bit of hiking in the bush (sooooo many kangaroos, and how they judge you, just quietly staring! ), and we went to Lake Burley Griffin at sunset and the light was just stunning.Greetings from Prague, Czech RepublicIt was a lovely walk along the path, very peaceful and basically muggle-free. The hint led us to success very quickly.
Found while attending the Mega event in Canberra over Easter. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Canberra to QueenbeeyanDay eight. Canberra to AdelaideThe generic bit.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Found while attending the Mega event in Canberra over Easter.Today I teamed up with FeatherWaite, Team Waldron, gridge98, CourtneyRose, Freddo, E_Smiley, georode and Davidwazza. Logs were signed ABP to save time and space on the logsheets. It was a productive day, focusing mainly on caches of interest, with a variety of cache types. The weather was fine and quite warm, in contrast to some of the other times Ive been in Canberra over Easter. Thanks Pacmania for the cache.
Out riding with MavEtJu around the lake today while in town for the Capital GeoBash. I did not jump in the lake, and thankfully I didnt come close, but it was a challenge to reach the cache in the only place matching the hint. Happy to still have juice in the tank to make this find. Thanks Pacmania.
Here for the Capital Mega, and the meet up tonight at Snappers & Co. Beforehand we took a little walk to this cache. Pity about the filthy mess of rubbish that people leave behind. Cache not impacted by this sort of behaviour by muggle types who would not be into geocaching. Well concealed and in good nick. Thanks Pacmania for your work.
Very nice hide. Resisted the temptation to jump in the lake today. Maybe a little cold for that Thanks Pacmania. Lovely spot for a cache. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. In the second phase for the day we had a scootering session lined up which involve plenty of scootering over grass, dirt and rocks. Thankfully no injuries to report.
Not sure if that’s all allowed behaviours but we had a blast!

Nice challenge!
Grabbed this just at sunset great hide! Thank you
Ps:Previous finder left the lid slightly open so it was bit wet, but I closed it well this time

Well this was a pleasant surprise!
Was on a lunchtime caching mission and ended up out here, a spot I never knew even existed. How about the shimmering of the water!
Managed to avoid the treachery at ground zero and had the cache in hand soon enough. Will definitely be coming back here. Thanks!

Ate some snapper fish and chips for lunch. Followed the kids over to the swing. Bagged a bonus cache. TFTC!
After some hard work in the last couple of weeks I rewarded myself with an extra day of caching. As I was in Canberra anyway I worked on my d/t grid and did a lot of adventure labs. Good fun and great weather! That's a steep bank!

Oops, nearly forgot to log this.
I was in Yarralumla so decided to get this cache. Parked near the yacht club and found the track.
Sun was setting and I was glad I had a torch with me, especially on the rocks.
Quick find.
Despite this being a rather mild evening, I declined the notion of jumping in. Looks like a great place for summer though.

#2177 I saw that this cache had been replaced and couldn’t resist the urge to find a nice fresh log. Happy to see that I was certainly looking in the right spot on my two previous attempts. Thanks Pacmania for both the original placement and for replacing this cache. May it live long and prosper!
Very happy to change this DNF into a smiley. Very windy tonight and very dark. Eventually found the cache in a spot I had checked twice. There is a memorial nearby. Unfortunately I found the cache without a lid and I couldn't find it despite me looking round 10m for it. Luckily log was dry. TFTC Pacmania!!
Quite a sneaky hide, just happened to spot from the correct angle.watch out for the ground here, loose stones.
You are certainly right about having to watch your footing. I didn't tumble in, but it was a bit of a struggle to maintain my balance...I'm not as young as I used to be...but then...who is?
I almost did just that when I lost my footing in some loose rocks!
It's a nice spot, but the ground was a little slippery in places. I did see some lovely dragon lizards basking among the rocks near GZ too. Cache was an easy find once I finished watching the lizards. Thanks for taking me to a bit of the lake I had never visited before!

I think maybe I have jumped into the lake here! Well....swung into the lake anyway. It was sunnier and warmer than it is now! TFTC!
decide to come out to get some air and sun.. was meant to come here for awhile but finally i did it today what a lovely view sign and placed back where belong.. TFTC Pacmania
Many years ago as an avid cyclist, I frequently rode around Lake Curly Gherkin - but I never knew of the Quarry, nor of this spot complete with its rope swing. I also didn't think the edges of the lake on the southern shores were deep enough to allow the use of a rope swing! Even so, I can assure you that you won't see me trying it out this summer!
TFTC, Pacmania!
TFTC, Pacmania!
This one took me longer to find than it probably should have! A great hide. I was preoccupied with something at the water's edge. Approaching from the right angle helped immensely! TFTC Pacmania.
It is very hard and slippy to get down but other than that it’s a really good idea
Tftc Pacmania!
Visiting the Yacht Club I ducked out to get this one in the dark. Didn't see the guardian.

Cheers

TFTC. I have lived in Canberra for over 20 years and you have taken me to a part I have never been. Lovely setting too. Thanks
Took some fun balancing to get out to this one! Thankfully we got their smoothly. Out on a hot evening walk with minniek and Gliss! thanks for the cache.
Headed out in the smoky haze of Canberra with nibletricecakes and GLISS! To do some sneaky caches this afternoon.
After collecting the required info for a nearby earth cache we couldn’t leave this one, especially as the area was all quiet due to the air quality
Easy find once we edged our way to GZ

Canberra Day 3: Lake Burley Griffin West Loop
Headed out today for another bike ride to find yet more caches in Canberra. The target was the far out AL waypoints and all the little Parks along the way. The ride went swimmingly with a lot of lovely vistas and views of the lake along the way, though slowly but surely, the midday heat started taking its toll. Huffed and puffed up to the National Arboretum visitor centre for lunch, and headed back down to finish off the rest of the circuit. It has been one tiring day, but generally very productive throughout.
This is the specific log for this cache:
I saw the title of the cache and did a second take. Huh? I have to... that I saw the D/T rating a breather a sigh of relief. Headed over to the lovely point, and struggled a little with the dry loose rock and soil with erodes easily when I step on it. I saw why the cache is named as such, but, having lots to cache today and the lake depth being questionable, I decided to head onwards after logging the cache. Nice hint and TFTC!

#3603 What a great day for a cycle picking up some caches along the way. After carefully parking my bike, I spotted the possible hiding spot. Neat hide. Replaced as found. I saw the rope but unfortunately I'm a non swimmer... TFTC.
A whole group was around gc jumping and swimming, but they never noted us. Great spot! tftc
Now this is one cache I wish I started looking for much earlier than 8pm. I bounced from stump to stump until I found a familiar site and cache was soon in hand.

We went back to the lake today, this time I actually remembered to bring my phone, which made it a lot easier to find caches
We followed the path along the shore, with the Bricks for the Capital Earthcache as the main game, given that it's earthcache day, but we picked up a few extras along the way.
We did see the rather large cache guardian last week, enjoying the sunny afternoon, but in todays grey coldish weather, he must have been watching from his warm lair somewhere.
The terrain was certainly a bit steepish - not to hard, but a cold, hard, wet penalty for slipping. Fortunately, no slipping was done today.
A great spot, but a real shame that some people felt the need to smash so many beer bottles in the vicinity - maybe this is a good spot for a cito.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this Cache Pacmania.

I can see why this is a popular spot in the summer. It would make logging this one an interesting proposition on a summer day.

Having travelled all the way from Brisbane to attend the Mega event over the Easter long weekend, I was out and about from just after sun up with the aim of collecting as many caches as possible on my lengthy wish list. This was one of the caches on the agenda for today.
Although it was a nice warm day, I resisted the temptation to jump in the lake for a swim. I did get wet though. Rain had been forecast for today (in fact I had packed up my campsite a couple of days early to avoid having to transport wet camping equipment), and the rain clouds that had been brewing in the distance finally move in overhead. As I reached GZ a gentle rain began to fall, all the while the sun was still shining. I managed to make finding the cache harder than it needed to be, but eventually located and logbook signed. TFTC

Day 6 of trip to Queanbeyan/Canberra for the Clear Waters Mega Event, travelling with RLD4963.
Today we had hired some bikes to go for a ride around Lake Burley Griffin. We picked them up on a clear sunny morning and headed off.
Really enjoyed riding around the lake - so pretty and so many interesting structures and sculptures. The bike track is nice and flat and just a pleasure to ride around. We only made it part way around the lake today, so would love to come back and complete the full loop one day.
A bit of a diversion off the bike track to look for this one, but what a great spot! Despite good co-ords it took a few attempts before we had our hands on the cache.
Thanks for the cache Pacmania and for bringing us to this beautiful spot.

Surprised to find the ropes, and more surprised that the two groups of teenages were both just out of sight, the cache being perfectly between them

An easy find at GZ, cache and contents were in good condition.

After finding the information for the nearby earthcache, I headed to this one. A bit of a look from slightly higher up gave me an idea of where the cache may be. I made my way to GZ and looked where I thought. I was soon adding my name to the logbook. TFTC
A great day out around the lake. A brilliant set of caches and some wonderful scenery. A bit hairy we almost did end up in the lake! TFTC
Caching day on Canberra today, collecting solves puzzle along the way and the odd multi. No muggles here today. TFTC
Wow GZ was found. Find got us stumped for awhile no thanks to the archeological hiding of the last finder! TFTC
Loving this hiding spot! Hope we’re the last people in 2018 to find this one! Happy 2019 everyone.
Arrived the night before for a road trip with my muggle friend from Canberra to Brisbane with a stop to walk the 5night/4day Green Gully Track. Today I took the Friday off to explore Canberra for its first time. Enjoyed my walk up Red Hill and Capital Hill exploring and finding Geocaches. Found on my way to the event. TFTC
Well it's not the kind of day you want to go jump in the lake but it's good to see this cache back in action. This is such a great spot. I was only bemoaning on the weekend about not having a swimming spot. Problem solved. Now if only this weekend is hot. Cache found in good condition. Tftc
While doing a couple of nearby caches nearby we decided to add this one to the list. It was an interesting placement and a really good hide. It took a bit of looking to pick just the right place and the log was soon signed before we headed back to the geo vehicle. Thank you to Pacmania for this cache placement with a geat view of this part of the lake.
