We had planned to spend the long weekend in Blenheim but came to Kaikoura after gk discovered a nearby bike ride with loads of bumandworker caches on it. We are keen to find bumandworker caches as they are being archived often without the need for that to happen.Needed to check the electric fence was not live before retrieving this one. Great views from hereThanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley
I went for an afternoon drive to find a few more caches in and around Kaikoura. I've wandered these tracks before so not sure why I didn't get this cache last time I was here. Found it today, safe and sound, as per the hint. TFTC, Biggles.
TFTC Thank you for hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity. Nice to have some cover
Hmmm. Another cache that was described as being right beside a track but which most certainly wasn't. Vegetation growth made it difficult for me to get to where I needed to be but I got there in the end.
Time for a wee family summers holiday; Kaikoura, Picton and Nelson.
A wee detour on a nice afternoon to grab a cache or two. DNFd this way back in 2014...nice to finally come back on the track to make the find and sign. Thanks!

A bit of a scramble and scratch around as cache was deeper than expected . Got it though..,thanks
A nice view from gz.

We arrived at the junction of the track and I sent Andy off to make the find on this one while I headed on to the next one. Must have been a quick find as he didn't take long to catch me up. tftc
Hole in lid of container.
Out with the Seagnoid, in the Seagnoid Mobile today, to Kaikoura and beyond, for another great road trip on a lovely sunny day.

I was going to do this one after doing Ledley Farm Gate on the return journey. But the Seagnoid knows best as hes been here before. So we backtrack up the track for a quick search. The hint item was soon spotted and cache in hand. The rattys have chewed a hole in the lid here. Left a temp RITR log to help it along. Cheers.

Tried to get to this from Ludley Park Bush by following the same track down and taking a shortcut uphill at the gate.
What that meant is that I entered a paddock, shut the gate behind me and headed up the hill to see about a dozen young bulls at the top. They made a move toward me, I retreated, more arrived from the left and they picked up the pace and by this stage I was running back down the hill hoping I didn’t twist an ankle. Hurdled the gate to safety. That was fun.
Ok, I will need to find another way to this. Back up the proper track and the turnoff to Cook track. The cache was a quick find. TFTC Bum.
I was in Kaikoura today, and the weather is fine so a good chance to stretch the legs and get some fresh air.
I targeted a number of walks, some of which were quite short - the peninsular walk from South Bay, South Bay track, Cook track and Ludley Farm, Kowhai cycle trail, and a few other short ones into and along the beach south of the town.
Mostly all good. Replacement logs added when indicated. Didn’t come across many people at all on my travels today, so it was mostly just me, my headphones and my podcasts. Relaxing! 22 for the day, no DNFs that had not already been DNFed previously. Thanks all COs.

Took a while to find our way from the track to this one but got there in the end. tftc
Found this cache together with my family (Sibuk and Finn). For details see the log of Sibuk.
Thanks for the cache, Lupid

During our wonderful vacation in New Zealand Lupid, me, and our little geocaching apprentice managed to find some caches.
As we stayed some days in Kaikoura Flat we did a morning walk up the hill and found some caches - and enjoyed nice views toward the sea
Thanks for the cache and greetings from Germany, Sibuk

Found with NZDi. Yesterday we bought NZDi a bright new shiny geomobile and because the dealer offered us a ridiculous low-ball offer for our current geomobile as a trade-in, we decided to sell it privately. We were fortunate that someone from Geraldine wanted to buy our ex-geomobile and we agreed to meet in Kaikoura to complete the deal. We arrived early and had time to grab a couple of caches before completing the deal. After getting business out of the way, NZDi suggested we should do a few caches before heading home. Although I'm always up for caching, I hadn't come prepared and was in urban clobber and had done no prep apart from running a PQ a couple of days earlier, but we decided to get a few anyway.
After leaving our trails and tribulations in town we headed out to Ocean Ridgewhere we had noticed a target rich environment which included a walk, just how we like our caching. After getting a couple of peripheral caches in the area we started the track proper and this was the sixth and what turned out to be the final for the day, that we came across.
The cache was a QEF at GZ, but I wondered if I had come across a different cache as the cache page says that there is no view and the cache is right next to the track. The cache I found was a few metres off the track and there were excellent views back over town to be seen. Once again I should have fully read the cache page as the log was wet and I didn't sign it. However once back home and logging today's finds I see the cache update stating the log is a RitR log. On reviewing the photo I took of it, I must admit it does look like that is the case.

A short walk only if you come from the right direction! Nice patch of bush TFTC!
Some day's after the earthquake and de day before our evacuation.
A nice trail, but most of the cachepapers of this trail are very wet.
Thanks from a Dutch.

Graag onderhoud.

Hideeho Thanks for the cache:) Greetings from the USA! Touring New Zealand and grabing as much cache as time and energy allow. When our whale watching tour got canceled we came out here for some nice rural caching.
Nice walk with fefe.adrien during the afternoon on the Cook Track, trees are in blossom with bumblebees flying around, yes spring is coming .
We found all boxes except one.

With promises of terrible weather beset on all sides I was at a crossroads of decision what to do today. The (slight) hope of a visit chez SoBad in Nelson for an event was likely to be followed by a day of heavy rain and after experiencing a deluge caching day (water not caches) in Maitiai a couple of years ago I wasn't keen for a repeat performance. Or, nightowl19 and I could head to Grovetown for another C I T O event there, but once again weather forecast was not looking promising. Having scouted the local forecasts Kaikoura was the winner with promise of mid-teen temperatures (it got to 17 degrees) and a chance to get the elusive minimum 5 b&w caches to get a millennium of their hides found.
After an early start with a few caches up Wither Hills whilst nightowl19 grabbed her beauty sleep it was time to head South. Up over the Dashwood and past Kekerengu and the weather slowly but surely improved to a sunny and calm East Coast day, nice.
Headed up this side road to grab this cache before backtracking onto Clarence River valley road and a turn back on the new Fishing cache (too muddy one way, too bumpy the other, too far to walk also so flagged it)
Parked at the top of the track and headed onto the walkways along here. Managed to all but one cache up here before during down to the bottom and along to get Ludley Bush cache. Fine selection of tracks to enjoy, and some nice views in the clearings. Great view from here, nice one and thanks for bringing me here. Q E F as per hint.

Early morning walk while in Kaikoura. Signed log and returned as found. Thanks for the cache.
I was in Kaikoura teaching NZ Sign Language for the day. I had a little extra time- I made sure I did, so I could find some caches. It seemed a shame to walk this track alone. It would have been nice to share it. Unfortunately I didn't have time to get the cache further along here. I was in a hurry. You say there is no view. Perhaps some trees have gone since you were here, it's a stunning view. A beautiful day for a walk. Tftc.
I am on my way back north and have stopped off in Kaikoura for a couple of nights.
Today I decided to have a just over 3 km walk around the tracks above the Ocean Ridge subdivision and pick up the odd cache on my travels. This one was on an up and back track.
Cheers for the cache.

Set out to do a few caches in this vicinity. Off to a slow start with only one located in the first hour. Managed another six in the next hour with Cook and Ludley tracks being much more productive. Covered a lot of ground in the process! This one was a fairy simple find. #979. TFTC.
This is our cache day. We found this one and say thank you with Greetings from Germany Hamburg
Staying in Kaikoura in a nearby holiday home while Mr Raisin Pig and friends were playing in a local squash tournament. This was day 2 - and after cleaning up the holiday home and packing up the car we heading to the local Ocean ridge subdivision for a perve at all the nice flash houses around here and to check out the local walking tracks.

ohohoh there was a cow in the middle of the track. What are we going to do now. One of the dogs did managed to pass but we didn't. And it was if he was not going to move either.
So we decided to bushbash so we didn't need to take any risk. Scarry...as he didn't like us

[green] An awesome weekend caching to and fro Kaikoura, on a strangely empty State Highway 1. But two things marred it - one: I could only do a two day weekend, despite that this is a three day weekend - I suddenly got dumped with a ton of homework and I better do some study. And two: Someone smashed a side window on the car and stole the sleeping bag. So this weekend is going to be a lot more expensive than I had bargained for . Still... 120 caches! That will be a weekend record for me. And just about every cache between Blenheim and Kaikoura converted to yellow smilies. Lots of walking, sunburn, dust. Big smiley on my face even if not in my pocket! Took me all day to get to Kaikoura from Blenheim yesterday, on my way back today.
I approached this cache from below - which meant I was on the wrong side of the fence. A quick climb over and I had the cache in hand. On to the next cache and I discovered a walk around was just as easy. Oh well. Great views, photo attached. Later I realised I lost my stamp - has my avatar on it. If you find it, please drop me a line. Possibly left it here.

The view from the track isn't much, but the view from the hiding place is amazing. TFTC.
Ps, gentle wander? Ha! Maybe for a Sherpa or mountain goat, not for a rummy with a hangover!

Came out to Kaikoura for a wee family weekends adventure. Late afternoon and we'd done all the family stuff.....and the wee dudes needed a bit of a rest. Left Nana and Grandad in charge and headed out for a run with Mrs G. Parked up nearby with the aim of running the tracks. Cold wind and a squishy track...popped up here expecting a quick find and sign. Nothing doing. GPS pointed to a sorry dead short Cabbage, nothing, and big live cabbages upstream and downstream yielded nothing either.
*shrug* Rolled or washed away...or well hidden?!
Next time. Cheers.

Cracking views from up here, although went into cow field before eventually finding the correct path. TFTC!
6051. We were in Blenheim as guest speakers at a Philippines Mission fundraising dinner on Saturday evening and were on our way back to Christchurch, picking up a few caches we had driven past on the way up. We had run out of time on Thursday so Rodney felt obliged to go back and have another go at the rest on the tracks. Found this one very quickly with nobody around except a few inquisitive muggle bovines on the track! Thanks for the cache. Rodney and Iris.
Brought my bike along especially for these caches thinking it would be useful. It possibly saved a few minutes here and there but I pushed it far too much to be an enjoyable bike ride. Left the bike and puffed my way up to here. Damn hot today which probably isn't helping. Quick find.
Thanks bumandworker for the cache.

Out with our extended family for a boxing day walk. 11 cachers in group. Left something extra. TFTC!
Up here for the seafest weekend with Rincewind 3 so we just had to knock off a few caches, on a great day too. TFTC. Cheers Bo
Another quick find on a nice spring morning. We were not sure which track to take, but in the end we made the right decisions. TFTC
#8 of 13. A nice afternoon walking these tracks with Mrs Rincewind and Bo&bronnie. Tracks are a bit boggy in places but Mrs Rincewind needed to christen her new white sneakers anyway. Tftc

Nice walk around this area. Not sure about the bulls and electric fences tho.
Nice easy finds on the walk today. So many track options, will come back to finish them all one day.
Third in the area. We would have complained about the climb and no views... but we had read the listing. Where to from here? Back down and along we decided.
Thanks.
Thanks.
After arriving in Kaikoura we headed out this way for a walk. A nice area of town.
Together with my family on a vacation trip to New Zealand. Starting at Auckland airport on transfer to Christchurch we went for a roundtrip exploring the south island. This was one of many caches we found while visiting so many nice and interesting places thanks to all the caches why I want to send a thank you to all CO for the work spent. TFTC.
Cache #3 in our walk around the top of this new subdivision. I let rediguana take the lead here. He needed to get a few more caches. It wasn't that I was too unfit to keep up at all! TFTC
Many thanks for placing and maintaing the caches, on a cache run for a few days to get to 8000 finds, and 2000 finds for the year.

Decided we would stay overnight in Kaikoura and leave this group of caches until later in the day when it was cooler.
Big mistake with this one as we decided to do a bit of cross country and ended up with electric fence problems. Eventually got there though and then found the correct track TFTC.
