Had a poke around today but it appears that the cache has been physically removed. The area is marked on our maps and at the location as a fire trail and is a long way from the military zone to the east. Tangles knows this area well, and it would be completely unlike him to put a cache in a restricted area. Great location, Tangles!
George and I today (foolishly) decided to launch a new service for the geocaching community, namely the verification that archived caches have indeed been removed from the environment... After a fairly long walk, we did indeed establish that the Phoenix cache HAS been removed (or at least we couldn't find it...)...
However, Tangles, we insist that you make the long trek down here once again and reinstate the Phoenix cache so that other cachers can enjoy the views from this place (see pics).
There are absolutely no safety concerns with regard to this cache. We did hear some distant shelling taking place on the other side of the river, but that just added to the excitement...
Nice one Tangles...

As this cache is in the same area as Topo it’s been archived due to the safety/access concerns of Wookie.
Good easy walk, could have brought the stroller instead of the pouch for geobabe Aylee!
Found it without any trouble after a nice long walk through the bush. It was baby Aylee's first Cache and she loved the experience although at only 4 months old she wasn't much help with the searching. Jill, Alex and Zactyl came along for the trip as well.
I was tempted to have another go at "Lets see.." on the way back to the car but it was getting late and didn't think I could take the walk back up the hill.
Took a happy meal toy, left a Piggy Notepad and a badge.
Thanks for a great walk Tangles.

first cache looked for and found it how cool is that.must have just missed utedude as he only logged in just before me although I think I took the long way there as I went to the lookout first.took ses keyring left waterproof matches.think I will tackle Mangle while I got time.
as previously stated tangles I said I didn,t have the unit set properly now that I do I have found that to get to pheonix requires you to go through private property or I am still having trouble with this unit.the road going in says private road-correct me if i am wrong, actually I am getting very frustrated as i cannot find pheonix, mangle leads me to under the bridge-cannot find it either and lakeview(not one of yours)leads me on a merry dance as the unit gets a little lost.I require some help(more than obvious)or I guess you have lost a fellow geocacher!!!
We checked this cache when we got back and it is still there and have no idea where Utedude was looking. The only cache we have near a road is Mangle and that is still OK.
tried to find this cache and found the unit directing me across the other side of the road.I live 7.76 kms away and know this spot very well.Only started geocaching recently and still trying to come to grips with unit (gps310-magellan).Punched in co-ords in UTM as this unit has all the numerical digits required as opposed to deg/mm.mmm which this unit only has deg/mm.mm.Wonder why I couldn,t find this cache, got home checked all co-ords again and all was well, or was it? Damn it I had the unit on true north not magnetic north---oops---. Rectified that problem or should I say mistake and try again.I did note that in UTM after marking home, going to near pheonix then returning that the unit showed I was only 2.5 metres from where I marked.

This one took us just about all day! After a scenic drive and many turns down the wrong road, we finally located the entrance point and the gate. It helps to have a map of the area with you.. DUH! In any case, it was a nice long walk with several kids in tow and they will sleep well tonight for sure! We recommend bikes for this long trek!
WOW.. what a nice scenic spot! We even brought a picnic lunch which we enjoyed on the rocks at the lookout spot! We swapped several happy meal toys for the glue and a little Tangles snake. Thanks for another fun adventure for us Savages! [^]

Being in the area after just completing the Speelo cahce, thought I'd give this one a try.
Approaching the gate, this was familiar territory having walked the track a few times in the past not knowing what lay below.
Forgot how long that walk was! Anyhow, got to GZ and after taking in the views and searching around, found the cache.
The view up there is fantastic. With all the rain, the creek was flowing well and you wouldn't know fire wiped the area out 6 months earlier. Amazing how fast nature recovers.
Swapped the SES fridge magnet for USB adapter.
Another great Tangles site!

With Phoenix just around the corner from Dangle, I couldn't resist. Lucky I had the MTB in the back! Great ride in the dark and easy to find by torchlight. Surprised it has been so long since last found. Cache in good condition. Took Snoopy and left a pack of cards. Thanks Tangles.
Stopped by the locked gate and started getting the bikes out of the car for a ride out to Phoenix when who should pull up but Tangles with Geopup, had a chat for a while then off down the track to find the cache, along the way it was good to see a lot of the bush re-generating but the fires out this way must have been very fierce as there are a lot of dead trees.
Arrived at the cache site on the first 30 deg C day for the year so loose fitting clothing was the order of the day.
Once the cache was found swapped some Glue for a mobile phone case and picked up TB Fire Survivor and headed off back down the track.

Managed to find this cache easily after running into Tangles and following the length of string he has running from the gate to the cache.
It got so hot at this cache we decided to do it nude. (Watch out for the forthcoming cache Reef - Lady Jane- Werrong)
Left a plastic skull and took the great map left by Chaos.
The bike ride was just the right length and was a good way to end the Torrid Tangles Trifecta. Shame we didn't cotton on to the nude thing a bit earlier.

What an awesome Sydney day. This really is the greatest place to geocache in the world.
First ever cache we mountain biked to. Had a great time, found the cache without too much trouble, not much in it though.
Took the $2 and left a 3D Puzzle.
Hurled myself towards the cache. In fact, zoomed right past before I thought to switch on Lord Guppus.
Great sunny day to visit another fantastic Tangles stash. Nice, easy find.
Purloined the Simpsons, and added a very useful map

Found the cache with FART while out of our usual area. Forgot our cache swapping goodies. Took 2 little lizards, left $2 coin
.
Sorry Tangles about the lame swap. Thanks for the cache. Very much enjoyed the MTB ride and the subsequent visit to a waterfall on Stokes Ck.
Meant to move the travel bug to our home turf, and then forgot!
Little Buddies.

Visited the cache with Little Buddies. Took nothing but memories!!!!!!
After enjoying the walk to this cache and feeling very positvie about my chances of finding the stash, my mood quickly turned to frustration. I couldn't find the bugger even after an hour of searching so I had to give up. I was walking back to the car with tail between legs when who should I meet on the way, none other that the man himself, Tangles. He gave me a pep talk and with a second wind I returned to the area to try again. Embarrasingly I found the cache with ease and in a place I had already looked. It's a cruel cruel game this Geocaching. Swapped items for items and also a Travel Bug for a Travel bug. Tricky stashing Tangles, well that's my excuse anyway.
Yippee!!! Our first virgin cache. Took the dog and the bike and headed out for a pleasant afternoon in the sun.
The coordinates were spot on and the location is excellent. Theres no way this cache will be affected by fire.
Took in the views and the video. Left some SES stuff and had an enjoyable afternoon.... Good one Tangles.
