I have been staying in Motueka in the caravan for a week - exploring trails in all directions on my ebike.Heading home tomorrow so a ride up this valley to grab a few on a mini power trail is perfect. Its very quiet traffic wise too which suits me. I had almost perfect success in all my finds with only a couple of DNF's out of 17 finds.Almost DNF'd this one - until I had a better scratch around... was a bit more buried than expected.TFTC niteowlnz
After finding the challenge cache on Rabbit Island and a few others, it was time to head inland off the usual route to find a whole lot more. I am enjoying seeing different scenery. Good to have a change of pace along the trail. It was a quick find and then we left to find the next one. Apologies for the late logging.
In Nelson with TwigNZ, YetiNZ, Mr-Mcgoo for a few days of caching and meeting up with other cachers from Nelson. All logs signed as NMTY.

Day 2 of my Nelson trip, along with NZ_B, YetiNZ and Mr-Mcgoo. This is something we planned a while back and have very much been looking forward to
During our time here, all found caches were signed as NMTY (regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 4 of us hadn't found it previously), or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.
We had decided that we really liked the idea of heading back to Motueka today, so were happy to be taking the scenic route to make the most of the available caches to get there. This meant getting off the beaten track a little and we had a great time effectively following the Moutere River along the Central Mini Trail. We were initially nonplussed by the strange numerical sequencing of the series, until we realised that this was not the work of just one CO.
A quick and easy find for us here today. Nothing untoward to report with the cache or log, so everything was replaced exactly as found and we were back on our way again.
Thanks for setting this one up.

Some time ago a group of us from Wellington decided that what we should do is come down to the Nelson region for a long weekend of Geocaching. So we did. With minimal specific agendas, and lots of unfound caches in the area, the goal for this four day break is exploring, having fun, and finding geocaches. Here is one we found.
We had come out this way to do the Central Mini Trail, not initially realising that it had been contributed to by multiple CO's. We very much enjoyed the trail (despite the odd numbering system that seems to have evolved).
The log was signed as NuMpTY (or NMTY) for NZ_B, Mr-Mcgoo, TwigNZ, & YetiNZ
---
Thanks to niteowlnz for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.
[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

Well covered and only figured that out after giving up on an initial quick look at the right spot, then trying to access from the other side of the tree. Don't overcomplicate it, just dig a bit
A nice quick find thanks.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee road trip to Nelson. Today we had a great day cruising around Motueka, upper Moutere, and wherever the gps took us.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

The cache was well covered, but I managed to sweep through and find the cache. TFTC.
Good time out with tufty, out hunting the wonders, had alot of fun, thanks.
Another out and about trip with DragonDefender mainly searching for caches with the Wonders he needs and caches that I haven't signed off.
The size is not quite regular now.
Cheers for the cache.

Its another Geo trip to the Nelson district for the Giff event at Moutere and for an easy P&G crawl up the peak of Uhuru at Kilimanjaro. With the shopping sorted. it was time to head towards Moutere. The weather, with rain predicted, stayed fine and hot for the day. Thanks for the Giff Movie theatre and great Potluck lunch and catching up with local cachers.

We parked a wee way up the road and walked back. No good parking at GZ. But no probs, quick and easy find. TFTC niteowlnz.
A Sunday drive around Moutere for a couple hours for myself and RG.
We picked a couple of roads and picked up the caches on those while enjoying the autumn sun. Thanks for the caches all COs.

Lovely afternoon out & about in Upper Moutete area exploring back country roads
More great butt shots RNZ spends a lot of time with it up in the air on display for photos! Beautiful plant life near this cache too, a pest plant so I'm told, but still beautiful flowers

Found with NZDi. It is Easter and NZDi decided she wanted to go to the Mapua Easter Fair seeing she missed out last year due to Covid-19 Level 4 Lockdown. Also we purchased a caravan late last year and as Easter is traditionally the last outing of the season before caravans are closed up for winter, we didn't want to waste this opportunity even though we have another trip planned next month.
So the plan is to set up at Motueka Top 10 Holiday Park for three days going to the Fair on Sunday, then on Monday look at the weather and decide whether to spend another three days in Golden Bay or head down the Wet Coast. In the meantime there is some caching to do.
Today is Day 4 of our expedition over the hill. On Friday we managed to get what the purists would say was 17 caches, but two of them were Lab Caches so GCHQ says the tally is 25, and who are we to argue with that. Saturday the purists tally was 20, but one of those was a Lab Cache so GCHQ says 24. Yesterday we went to the Mapua Easter Fair so only had the afternoon to cache and only managed to grab 12 with no Lab Caches. Today we are going to head out to Upper Moutere where NZDi spent her formative years living in Blackbird Valley and going to Neudorf School.
We had no plans for the day, just drive along roads and pick up caches as we could on the way to Upper Moutere. We turned into Neudorf Road heading for NZDi's old home up Blackbird Valley. After checking out NZDi's old home, it was time to head back to the camp and by taking this route, we will be able to complete the Central Mini Trail we started a couple of days ago.
Parking was a bit dubious for this one, the way we were going. Perhaps it is better going the other way. So I parked about 150m further up the road an walked back. When I got to GZ i saw what I thought was the cache lying in the water table, however it was just a decoy. I soon found the cache where the hint said it should be, but I'm confused. It looks like I am going to have to resize all my mint tin caches to regular. It would probably be easier to give the CO a lesson in cache sizing. On reflection, now I am home and logging our finds perhaps I should have put the cache in the decoy container.

Hey! A mint tin. For some reason I was expecting mint tins on this mini trail. Probably because they are almost homographs (I am sure I read "mint" when I first sow these). Not that mint tins make good cache containers. This one is rusty and will need replacing soon.
I came to Nelson with a bunch of objectives in mind - find some size small caches, visit the family - there are more of them than usual this weekend, visit the two adventure labs in Motueka, and finally sort out the last Nelson railway cache. Alas I forgot the adventure labs, and could only get half way on the railway hide, but I managed to tick the rest off.

Cache found and put back with new log popped in as well - many thanks to the two Cachers that found and repaired my cache as per SJTNZ's log - will check on it next time we go past
Nice Q E F when passing, all good and replaced as found. T F T C niteowlnz.
I've had a busy couple of weeks at work and was originally supposed to be working today, but with a couple of other things looming on the horizon I asked if I cou;d have the day off before starting back on night shift tomorrow night, and yes was the answer. So, with mrs capperz supposedly at work this morning on the early shift I also got up and underway and was on the road from home at around 0615, with a full days caching ahead, culminating with the event near Mapua at (I thought 1500, it was actually 1400 - oops, made it in time though).
With thick fog all the way through from Wairau river bridge to the Whangamoa saddle it was steady driving to get me into Nelson just after 8, and a full day saw me back at home for 1845 after a catch up at The power of 3 cache with Ricardinho, the Seagnoid, TB Dragon and Jojo. A successful day was had with some park n grabs out Central Road way, a couple of previous DNFs conversted to smilies (and a couple of new DNFs to add to the list!) and a few points towards the latest souvenir scramble. Thanks to all COs for their hides, specific stories where I remember.

another smiley for me. As I heard a car heading along the road I made a dash and hid near cache, but ouch some hawthorn managed to get me. what we go through to get another little smiley on our map. TFTC
Out adding a couple of new caches to this trail today, so a great opportunity to log a couple too.
Cache was found on the other side of the road with 'mulched' log book.
Tregearp replaced bag and a new log sheet and placed back where GPSr had 0 metres and description and hint suggest. Thanks for the cache .

We were in the area checking out progress on the property and decided to do a few caches on the way back, a quick find with SJT_NZ. TFTC
this one is likely to be missing unless it is right behind the pine which I couldn't reach or climp up without banging branches against my head
We are keen geocachers on holiday from Tauranga gathering a few smileys as we go. We had a good look around by the GZ and further afield, but couldn't find any cache. Very hard to get around the pines as the branches were so low. TFTC
Cruising through the countryside trying to turn a few dnfs to yellow. 1of 2 so far. Don't know how I missed this other times... my geosense must be developing.

Today I started from 1957 finds and chasing down 2000. This cache was find 1963. Thanks to niteowlnz for the cache
Found while biking home from a music thing at Shandra Kirti with my reluctant younger brother. TFTC
We had started the mini trail (from the Motueka end) a few months back but ran out of time partway through. Today seemed a perfect day for a drive in the country to complete it. Thankfully it's a quiet road as it is narrow without much off road parking.
With good co-ords, the cache was in the first place my walking pole prodded - nice to find a regular sized container so left a TB. TFTC.

#9657. Weren't sure where to park for this one. We carried on past the cache (but probably the park before we reached GZ was a better one). Quick find by Troodles. TFTC.

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.
Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!
So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!
Almost every single log we signed as 'Team Polak' to avoid needing to write out both usernames taking up space on logsheet - as well as precious caching time!! Haha.

For the sake of sanity we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!
We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!
Come and join us the next New Zealand geocaching MEGA event!! Register your interest now at www.nzmega2015.com to receive newsletter updates and be the first to know. It will be a great event, come and be a part of it!!

Kids starting a wane a bit now, so the prospect of some quick grabs along the Trail perked them up a bit.

There were men working opposite the cache this morning so we were unable to stop but they were gone when we passed later in the day so we were able to get the cache..
Our first experience of a power trail. Speed caching, what great fun. Thanks for setting up this trail and thanks for the cache. Greetings from Greece.
After the bad start at the first cache we attempted on the trail going north to south we persisted and managed to find every one after that. Good little trail and we had fun following it back towards Nelson. TFTC
Found while out enjoying an evening collecting a few caches in the area, TFTC, #5388
Had to pick my moments looking for this one as there was a fair bit of traffic and it was well camouflaged, but got there in the end and even laughed that it had been so tricky once I saw the size of it!

Our last of the trail and we managed to find them all, and also a few others inbetween. The container was nice and big but only had log and pen so we added a few trinkets. Thanks for all the effort and I hope you are enjoying your new grandchildren. Thanks for the power trail
