Thank you for this cache. I have been meaning to look for this for many years. Today I had a day with no responsibilities and was driving past so had a go. Can't say the smell at the final location was much fun
We have had our car fixed .So we headed out to this find. Gotcha. We were not too sore. We had worked things out right as when we parked the car, the cache hide spot seemed off. All good here. ??
We're back in town to visit friends and family and I was keen to come back for another look for this one. Not sure how I missed it on our first visit but I'm happy to have avenged our DNF from two years ago. Thanks for find #5044TNLN
This multi-cache was the perfect weekend challenge. We enjoyed decoding the clues and the final location was fantastic. The final was sneaky, but we prevailed. Signed the logbook

Nice little park and soon had some decent coords. Didn’t bother to check my numbers.
Drove over to GZ and parked, then drove back down the road looking for a safer place to park. Nada Back to my original spot and scooted over to GZ. Not a fan of hides on blind/busy roads. But got the cache logged.

While I’m away from Townsville I attempt to locate a multi to complete for Orange Crews Multiplicity Challenge. (GC7N86Z) which only requires you to get one multi in every month of the year (over any number of years) + 100 days of multying. I’m closing in on it but the lack of days I holiday aren’t helping.
Todays effort was this one. I noted the checker link no longer works so make sure you get the right info the first time. I’m not sure how I managed it but at least the digit I needed was the last and it didn’t make a great deal of difference to me. It meant I didn’t have to recheck anything to make the find.
Thanks pmt123 for placing and the link with the final and the memorial is not lost on me. Will be interesting to see, not that I want to, how they will get the numbers up next world war. That is if it doesn’t go nuclear, as then it likely won’t.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 118. Rockhampton Day 4. I was out for a full mornings caching, mainly to the east of Rockhampton. The highlight was an old Multi that took me on a great walk. Then I went back to Gracemere to get one I could not do on Sunday due to the crowded event.
After a few cloudy days it was very sunny out by the monument. I had a go at the counting and managed to detect a few mistakes in my work before getting a GZ that I was happy about. Once I tried the option I had left, I found myself at a likely spot and found the cache to the odour of milling cattle.
Thanks for the cache pmt123

Rockhampton, for 2 nights camping at Kershaw gardens
After setting up camp we did a few of the local cachers that were close to where we were camped
This was a good way to tour the are and we found a good variety of caches some in places we had not visited before.
We had a DNF here on a previous visit, we enjoyed reading the description & where the final GZ is located
Thankyou pmt123 for placing this cache.

Heading north for the Townsville Mega, taking 5 days and finding caches along the way. Thanks to the COs for placing these caches to show us more of your local area.
After gathering the information to solve this cache, and making a small adjustment, we were off to GZ with joojoo57 and HansandLinda. A quick search and the cache was found. TFTC
TFTC. We had joined forces with Richmond Lad and JooJoo57 to find a few caches in the area. We were keen to do some multis. This was on our list. After a small miscalculation we were back on track. A quick find in the end as Linda suggested the obvious spot.
Found as I meander my way from Adelaide to Cairns.
With no real travel plan and three weeks to get there before I meet up with friends, there has been plenty of opportunity for sightseeing and finding a few selected caches along the way.
Interesting to see a private war memorial. The required information was quickly collected and final coordinates calculated, then it was off to GZ for a quick find.
Thanks pmt123 for the cache.

Grey nomads travelling around Australia in our caravan. 2020 done and dusted, 2021 here we come
Been saving this one for a special fill in on my grid today. Returned to Rocky specially for the occasion. After all the faulse starts, I began to wonder if I had made the right decision.
First run of the calcs put us some where down Yeppoon way, and I knew by looking at the numbers that the "longs" were wrong. Back to the car and the drawing board, and using a guestimate, found a GZ somewhere closer.
Geochecker is not working, so we took the chance. WRONG.
Even though it was close to the first waypoint, it was in the middle of private property. So back to the obelisk.
Recalc gave us some different numbers. GPS took us there, but still on someone's driveways, close to our first calcl.
We are hungry, so down to local take a way, and instead of looking at my smart phone, which in the bright sunlight, is not very smart, I got out my tablet, charged it up, toggled to the hotspot on the phone, and checked again.
Oh, here is something I missed.... Could be that it made a MONUMENTAL difference, so we finished our lunch, and headed off again, this time in the right direction. AND found the cache in a not so MONUMENTAL position.
Thanks for the hide hideandfindit (mainenance by The talent and more recently PMT123)
Note to PMT123. Geochecker link does not appear to be working

MOO DAY! We have been working towards this day for a couple of months and today here we are. But now, having completed them, it's time for some local caches before dinner.
Nice multi, and a bit of a twist at GZ.

Day two of my road trip from the Gold Coast to Townsville. An early start today for our team which consisted of RoddyC, hatzofff, grannysmith1947 and youngoldfella and after completing the Moo geoart we decided to tackle some local caches.
This one had us puzzled for awhile due to the cache size but eventually we found the neat hide.

Out and about with 4 geocaching friends going from Childers to Mackay. I will leave them at Mackay on the 5th December. They will go North and I will go South only to come back up to Rockhampton in 7 days time to meet up with them again. Arrived at the Obelisk and calculated a set of numbers. Then went for a short drive to GZ and parked off road safely. Walked over to GZ and soon had this one in hand. First names in new log. TFTC.
Day 2 of our northern adventures with RoddyC, Snickersallan, GrannySmith 1947 & YOF out doing some caches in Mornish and then back to Rockhampton.
Headed out after lunch and spotted a couple of multies and just had to do them. Did our numbers and calculations and went to GZ and with no reward decided to redo our calculations but came up with same results. With a little more determination the reward was in hand signed and we could move on.
Just love that smell.

Hi there pmt123.
We found your cache **"The Obelisk"** at 11:03:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 20380).
We started the day off by nominating a cache in Rockhampton, and then following a "next closest" route as determined by the GPS. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the area & ended up finding quite a variety of container types, and sizes hidden along our route.
We found 5 caches today & DNF'd 2. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

I am traveling a very zigzag route to QOGM in Barcladine. Having spent last night in Rockhampton, I decided to find a few caches before leaving town. I made my way to this cache and was surprised by thee memorial here. I gathered the information required and came up with a set of numbers. I jumped into the geomobile and made my way there. I parked safely off the road and made my way to GZ. there, the cache was quickly located and the log signed. TFTC
Grab the co ords and we were off in the wrong direction. Revisit to check the numbers and had it in no time. Tftc
A truly 'Moo-ving' location to visit
And it has apparently moved too !! [:o)]
First thing I noticed was that word "slaughter" on the obelisk's base [:o]
Not something you often see on war memorials !!
They try to avoid mention of that normally
I know why that word is on the memorial,
but it still looks out of place !! [:o]
The numbers were quickly worked out,
despite the attempts by the CO to confuse me
Oops !! I spoke too soon !!
GZ was in a very unlikely spot
A quick juggle of an unlikely number gave me hope,
so off I headed
And found meself in a spot that fitted the theme
Dodging traffic,
I made it to GZ
And a quick cache find !! [^]

We gathered the information; worked out the co-ords, but then the checker didn't work and we were skeptical that we had done it right due to the distance that we had to go for the final. Anyway we had no option other than doing all of the sums again, so we headed off. An interesting rural aroma hit us when we arrived at GZ and this confirmed that we were in the right place given that the memorial was for AMIEU members.
Thanks pmt123.

A geocaching roadtrip is an amazing thing. It takes lots of preparing, planning and pre puzzling to ensure time on the road is maximised. I have to say I exhibited none of these attributes as we readied ourselved for this roadtrip. I was fortunately joined by the energizer bunny (seffnjarah) and the Square Jawed Mountain Man (Crookedpete) who both like to prove how capable they are as the alpha males of the Bromance. While there is often much chest beating and tantrums, we manage to remain positive and end up with a good plan of attack.
We set off on Friday lunch time (so CP had time to make himself pretty) and returned late Sunday nigh, traveling some 2000klms, approx 70 caches of varying D/T Ratings, in just on 54 hours. Sadly there were a few DNF's (which some of the team took harder than others), but we saw many different cache styes, and some amazing places. Thanks to all the CO's who placed these caches for us to find.
A quick park and grab after working out a solution to the multi. Thanks for the cache. The boys are are still debating how cattle are made to cross this road....

It has been far too long since Seffnjarah, Swellerfungus and I did stupid things on a roadtrip a long way from home. So, a caching road trip from Brisbane to Rocky & Yeppoon and a few ports (and mountains) in between was planned. The well planned though overly optimistic caching itinerary included miscellaneous mind bending puzzles, half a dozen or so of Queensland's Oldest caches a few wee hill climbs, a healthy selection of unloved caches and any other interesting caches in between.
At GZ, there was much debate about the purpose for the gate, given there is already a tunnel under the road. No problems here.
Thanks pmt123

It's been 2 years since the Bromance undertook a geocaching road trip, the last being down to Gloucester NSW back in March 2015. With the blessings of our respective spouses received (mine seemed rather keen to get rid of me for the weekend) we headed off from Brisbane Friday lunchtime for a whirlwind trip to Yeppoon and back with a lengthy target list of caches. After finally finishing our first day of caching and setting up camp at 1.30am this morning, a 5.30am wake up call had us packed up and on the road again for more caches including this one. With A GZ location identified I was using the app to navigate, ignoring Swellerfungus the Navigator's directions as he had proved a dismal failure earlier in the day. Sadly it was I who was the failure this time around, navigating to the listed coordinates in error, and Swellerfungus took great delight in returning the serve he had copped earlier. Cache was easily found once at the correct GZ. TFTC
After some counting calculations in the dark I had new coordinates, a bit away but it looked good. so I went with them.
Admired the thunder in the distance before signing the log.
Thanks for the multi!

Three years since I found this, just taken a while to get around to logging. I headed towards the obelisk on a hot Sunday afternoon while in Rocky visiting M-I-L. Once numbers were collected and crunched I headed back toward GZ. Nothing special here but better to be doing it on a Sunday afternoon than another time.

Found it. After a previous dnf today on a multi (completely my fault) I thought I'd just stop here and take a few photos of the info while it was raining. Of course the temptation was too great, I sat in the car, phone on charge, reverse side of shopping docket on steering wheel working away at the maths while it rained so hard I couldn't see out. I got an answer, could it be that easy? Previous solver logs would seem to indicate not. Oh what the heck, let's try it, I can only get a bit more wet. Parking was no problem, I scurried off to gz, and....Eureka! My that is a large one for one of this type isn't it Well done! I'll file that one away for future inspiration. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Tftc all is well here. I'm damp, but the log and all else is dry. This is a truly excellent multi.
Yah after much arguing and fighting with Ratdog this cache was finally in her hand and the log signed. Yes she was starving and wasting away as well.
Amazing what 1 number wrong can do [:(!]. we drove here and there found an interesting park some bee hives.
Our PAF gave me a hint on where to look but I'm not sure where he was or for that matter which Owlish he was recalling, I must admit it was the same each time he described the cache.
However we found a mistake in our numbers which we headed off to find. I checked what you had said when I first looked for this one and a DOH [:o)] moment.
With a hint from previous logs Ratdog came up with an idea and we headed off. For some reason it wanted us to to keep going over there but well............................
I had 170 odd meters to go and not getting closer just further away when I circled back to where she was. sitting on the ground signing the log mmmm mmmm
when we went to leave the iPhone had finally caught up to us
TFTM we needed this one for our souvenir this weekend.

While everyone headed to the Stanthorpe MEGA without me (I accidentally double booked myself) I headed here to visit my parents for Easter.
In the scorching heat we worked worked out the required answers with success and then made our way to GZ . We soon had the treasure in hand.
I signed the log and returned it to its home before discreetly leaving.

Took the geokids to this one!! Huge success, they wanted to do another one straight away.
Took me a few goes, very pleased to have the cache coord checker or I would have ended up in all kinds of places. Found it, but no dog tag trackable inside.
An unscheduled trip to Rockhampton
so a couple of days to plan and do some homework on a few Rocky caches
that I have driven past previously, and unattempted due to a lack of research - or time.
No worries here,
pulled up, worked out a set of co-ordinates.
Ambled off to look at the calculated GZ.
Looks like a likely spot .
The waited for the locals to finish up for the day.
I arrived at GZ right on shift change at the nearby establishment.
Thankfully didn't have to wait too long.
Anyway, everything fell into place and made a find without too much delay into my caching time.
cache - all good too

As a servicemember myself, I appreciate it when a community rallies around its military. Those who paid the ultimate price ought to be remembered. Could we call ourselves civilized otherwise?? This cache is a great way to both honor the fallen and see some of Rockhampton's lesser-travelled outskirts. Made short work of the puzzle (except for one mistaken digit). Came back home to look at Google sat view of new coords and was dismayed at the prospect of entering such a place for a cache!!! A quick Q&A with the CO and I was squared away with the corrected digit. Thank heavens! For those who rightly solve it after me (there is a geochecker now btw), look about 90m at 270 to see where I thought I might have to go! Once again, thanks to The Talent for a cool puzzle and neat cache experience. This is the largest-sized container I've ever seen in a hide loc like this... and I've seen many of them
Gotcha !!! Driven past this Obelisk many times , so thanks for making me stop to look and learn and TFTC
Cache Raid to Rockhampton with Gunnie69..

Met up with Tassiegirl & bedmaker as we accumulated info for this cache

Had a call later to advise we had 1 number off so luckily this was before we made our final run at a find - thanks guys
GZ reached and all was quick & easy - pretty neat container for the space involved

Kaisho53 and I were gathering the required info when Badmaker and Tassiegirl13 arrived to join us. We noted what we thought were the correct numbers and parted ways as Kaisho53 and I were running on empty and needed sustenance... [^]
We caught up with the two partners in caching later to be advised that we had messed one of the numbers up... Yikes... Thankfully, they advised us of the correct digit and the appropriate coords to head to... Thanks Guys...
At GZ, the find was nice and easy and what a container you have managed to squeeze into that spot... IMpressive... Names in the log, it was tucked away and we headed off.

Quite an impressive Obelisk, and we quickly found the information required. We calculated some co-ords and drove there to find it on private property. Hmmm, that doesn't look right. Checked the sums and missed that there was a subtraction, so had some new co-ords and when drove we found a likely spot and a cache! Bit bigger than I was expecting!

Took photos of the Obelisk on my way home from work earlier in week. No problems in doing the maths. Tried to get the cache during the week but there were workers in the area. Tried again on the way to the event but again a muggle had pulled up near GZ and was talk on a phone. I was able to find it after the event no problems at all. I was just hoping someone from the near by company didn't see me as I had a rival company shirt on.......lol TNLNSL

Arrived at the location and found Gunnie69 and Kaisho53 gathering the numbers.
We combined forces and soon had a waypoint calculated.
Gunnie and Kaisho had the tummy rumbles so Tassiegirl and I went off to grab the final.
Arrived at a spot and still saw we had 100m to go through an area we couldn’t get into.
We must have calculated something wrong. Back we went to recheck our numbers and we soon saw the slight error of our ways. With new co-ords punched in off we went again and had a more likely GZ with a cache for us to find.

*FTF* I thought I'd just give one sneaky new cache a go just to full the need to hunt. I'm glad I chose this one. It's a great cache. Very nicely done. TFTC Hideandfindit!
