Went out today with Gullivers Travels54 & Forbiddenground to finally clear off these caches and turn them into smiles. Sadly this one is clearly gone and needs to be checked by the CO
no luck for me here today, fiddled round the open end of the pole but couldn't feel any cache. looked for a magnetic nano elsewhere but the hint indicated I was hunting in the right spot originally. might need a check up. nice spot though.

For some reason I decided it would be a good idea to walk from Big Bertha to this cache, rock hopping along he rock wall. My brother shared no such desire so returned to the boat to find an anchorage closer to GZ. The rain was falling by now, making me question my decision. Thankfully the rocks were not at all slippery so it wasn't as treacherous as it could have been in the wet. I passed a houseboat of lads anchored up nearby who were enjoying some fishing and drinking (more of the later I think) who shouted out I should have a fishing rod if I was walking along here. I just gave a friendly wave and moved on, but in any case they had departed by the time I got to GZ so the fishing can't have been that good! No problems making the find and by the time I had signed the log, my brother had arrived on the nice sand beach next to GZ. Could have save myself the walk in the rain, but what fun would that have been TFTC
We dropped anchor and climbed the rocks found the cache and then went swimming TFTC
I am still trying to increase my difficultly average for a certain Challenge cache close to the Stanthorpe MEGA event over Easter.
So there is this group of caches out on Wave Break island and South Straddie that were not there when I last visited both places. [^]
After my last visit I learnt a little bit about the strong currents that appear at certain times of the tide, so I changed my timing of the tides and also my start location. 4 Swims instead of 5 swims with 2 of them being shorter due to sand bars appearing at low water. [^]
Little Bertha was my first stop, where I discovered I had forgotten a pen, so borrowed the pen from there for the day and returned it to the cache at the end of the day. The swim across from wave break Island was relatively easy without the currents pushing me the wrong way. [^] The swim back to Wave Break was right on low water so no nasty currents but I did drift a little which made the swim a little longer but no problems.
After my visit to South Staddie I still a couple of caches to get on Wave Break Island, this being one. I was so scared of dropping the cache that I say down and opened it on a LARGE flat rock. The cache is dry and in good condition, though the log book piece of paper is full.
Thanks for the cache.

Today I was out with the Geo cruise #2 on a very hot day picking up a bunch of caches on islands. Good to get some terrain 5 caches knocked off. TFTC
We arrived at GZ and ventured across the large boulders and after some searching Gunnjie69 spotted the cache, on the third sweep of the hide area.
Found on a day of hi jinx on the high seas, aka the Broadwater. Geo Cruise 2, organised by HotWheelsDuo, I joined Gunnie69, russelz, swellerfungus, LadySims, karenhippo, bristracker, lost 2 found and K8'n'Co. Thanks Herbz for the cache!

The two vessels set off as part of Geo Cruise II embarking for foreign lands and a voyage of discovery. Little did we know we were actually boarding the slow boat to China.
A good day was had by all on the water, in the water, on land, through the forests and even venturing out to the ocean front (on foot).
After a 2nd DNF on my other unfound cache on this island I was very concerned this one was going that way as well. Gunnie saved the day.

Out on the water for a second attempt at this one, I made my way to GZ with fellow DNF'er Ruzzelz, Ghostgums, Swellerfungus and LadySim. We arrived near GZ to find a couple settled on the beach, but they weren't paying a lot of attention to what we were up to... [^]
Along the rocks, Ruzzelz moved in and checked the location. NOTHING.... A little deeper and still no sign of a container... REALLY, this is not making me happy at all... I headed in to check with slightly longer digits and sure enough, there was nothing in the suspected location... That induced one of those big sighs, you know the ones, the "I can't believe this" type of sigh...
I glanced around at the others with my sulky face going on, then looked back at GZ, only to find the container staring me in the face... HEY, I GOT IT... A collective "Where was it" came from the crew, as I removed the cache from a slightly different spot from the original location. I used the capable hands of Ruzzelz to hold the container as I etched names in the log. All done, I tucked it back and we made our way, much happier I might add, back to the water craft...
So glad to have this one ticked off.
Cheers Herbz.

As part of Geo Cruise number 2 today we visited caches on South Stradbroke Island, Wavebreak Island, and a Torror-ble Island. Lots of fun and geo chatter made the day a pleasant (but very hot) one.
A trip inland for an intrepid few. Some had DNFs on there last visit, and wanted to make amends. There are two things I know for sure after attempting this cache. Firstly Crocs are not made for rock hopping - very very slippery!, and secondly don't trust Ruzzelz to make the find! Oh it was a debacle. It was funny (afterwards) to remember the look of despair at another possible DNF! Enter Ghostgums to make the find!
Thanks Herbz.

On the maiden voyage of my new surf-ski, I HAD to paddle over to Wavebreak and nab myself a cache. Got there (thank goodness it was close to low tide, mate the water barrels through the seaway) but couldn't believe that someone else signed this cache today!
The next GC'er will need to bring a new log, this one is about full. Tftc.

Spent a day of caching with "BBQ with Legs" GC3K45X he was my skipper for the day & new the water ways well. The weather & tides were in our favour, it was such a pleasant day out on the water.
A quick find, we rounded the point & then realised it was easier to get from the other side. So back to the nice sandy beach & just a walk along the rocks.
Great location, thanks for bringing us here a favourite point given.

Out on a southern adventure with Orange Crew and Luke from Slow Puncture and boy were we in for a day of surprises, ending in one of the worst storms in 30 years!!
Was expecting this one to be way harder... I think the hardest part was trying to get to the cache, and, me trying to BEAT the others to it!
While I was looking for a retrieval object, Mr Crew reached over and removed the cache.... Smarty Pants!
Helps if you're on the right side!

Out for a day of boating fun zipping around the Broadwater with Slow Puncture and Team DNA. A climb up the boulders soon had this nano in hand. We refrained from partaking in spearfishing whilst in the vicinity
Today, Team Armenia set out for an excursion to the Gold Coast, primarily to attack Wavebreak Island, Terror Island, South Stradbroke Island and Coombabah Creek in Orange Crew's powerboat (tinnie).
Why Team Armenia? ORANGE Crew, Team DNA (of RED Rocket fame) and Slow Puncture (of BLUE Thunder not-so-much-fame). Know your vexillology, people (Yes, I did have to look up Armenia's flag...).
After parking the tinnie, we wandered up and across the rocks and got the the obvious GZ. Watched in horror as OC nearly lost it down the rocks (or was he just kidding? We may never know!). Signed and returned.
Thanks, Herbz

We scaled the hot rocks, hoping that it might be in the obvious place.
Mr G soon had it in hand, passed it to me who took it down to Mr G who was carrying the pen.
Thats what you call a team effort.

Scaling rocks in wet sandy thongs while gripping an iPhone meant the trip to and from GZ was slowish...not for my two companions though! MrG and Noo82 had leap frogged to GZ, grabbed the cache and my only contribution was the pen. Lovely views from GZ but surprisingly not many boats on the water which was the reason we decided to hire a boat for our Wavebreak caching raid today. TFTC Herbz.
After repositioning boat to the southern end of island, this was next on our list for the day. Even though we had already gotten this terrain, still had to get it.

Hot Wheels Duo and I had been talking about a little trip to Wave break for some time now. She was really keen to swim across from Marine Pde but I'm older and a little wiser then I use to be and so decided to paddle my yak. We walked and sometimes I paddled the perimeter in a clockwise fashion. Once at the NE point she patiently waited while I burnt up 45 minutes of afternoon sun light paddling across to Straddie for two FTF's.
On approach to this one we discussed whether or not we should have a look considering the last DNF. We figured we should at least take a look while we're here and to our surprise it was right there. I couldn't believe it. I crouched down in the rocks out of the wind and added our names to the log.
Thanx again Herbz, no need for another maintenance check after all.

We thought this one might elude us today, but Monkey Maker soon had it in hand. Great spot...thanks for bringing me here.
I felt around in the top of the pole but found nothing. Had no way to look deeper in. I suspect it's fallen to deep.
Captain Terror and I were lucky enough to have a monday off and even better, so did Mr and Mrs Herbz! We organised a day out on the water and after an amazing breakfast put on by Herbz we were soon on the way.
We put the tinnie in the water and Mr Herbz dropped Captain Terror and I off near this cache and went back for Mrs Herbz. The Captain led the way to this cache. I took two steps up the start of the wall when WHAM! I slipped and fell. I threw both hands out in front of me and caught myself but now I had two very sore palms... one even got a splinter!
The Captain rushed over and helped me back onto my feet and led me to GZ, not letting go just in case I slipped again. We got to GZ and I couldn't find the cache. "It isn't that hard Net!" Oh that's right he couldn't find it either!
We walked back down to the beach and waited for Herbz to come back. He replaced the container, with my name in the logbook and now it should be good and ready to be found again. Thanks for the cache, and the tinnie and breakfast and everything else Herbz

Aha, it's all T-Tech's fault I tell ya... Ruzzelz and I found GZ, stuck our hands in all the right places, grabbed a stick to see if we could feel anything and.... NOTHING.
I suspect the container has hit rock bottom...

Out for a day of caching via kayak with IolantheK and teamdfl (believe it or not teamdfl only came for single cache, such is her devotion to making her cache map all smiles [:o)]) [^]
After our meeting at Helensvale McDonalds we headed down and found a couple of car parks at Harley Park (Don't need a boat ramp to launch a Kayak [^]). Then off we paddled in a anti-clockwise direction between "The Isle of Terror" and Wave Break then South Stradebroke, back to Nth End of Wave Break and down its the west side finishing at Big Bertha [^]
Crossing to Wave Break was a bit like taking a push-bike onto the autobahn but we got across without anyone running into us.
We arrived at GZ, and a word from teamdfl we looked for tiny NN but couldn't find it. Looked into a hollow and made contact with something [^] This is where I managed to push the container further down the hollow and out of reach Good thing Felix (IolantheK) had here bag of tricks and I was able to retrieve it so we could sign the log , then back to the kayaks to continue [^]
The cache is dry and in good condition [^]

T-Tech and I hired Rosco's Tidemark double kayak and met up with teamdfl for some paddling fun on ANZAC Day. We set off from Harley Park and visited "Isle of Terror", Wave Break Island and South Stradbroke Island, collecting 10 smilies from 11 hunts. A great few hours [^]
After collecting three smilies on the Isle of Terror, we paddled across to Wave Break Island, and that was an adventure in itself with all the traffic on the water. On advice from teamdfl we went around the eastern side of the island to the beach there, then made our way to GZ. Had some fun scrambling up then T-Tech went in for the grab, but ummm... well a slight problem occurred Back to the kayak for my handy tool and with a bit of work he soon had the cache in hand. Phew! With the tinnie anchored we walked from Big Bertha towards the cache vicinity.
Our approach was taken with caution as we did not know how steady the rocks were,
on our way to GZ. I was searching in nooks and crannies without success till the
hint was revealed, glad that was stated as it could have taken a while.
The cache was soon in hand and the formalities done. Great to get a rare D/T for me

Well you have definitely enticed us to explore this island! With great D/T's and only being in the area for a few days. These caches soon became a MUST DO and our determination had set in. Not sure how we would go, but we had to try We hired a boat from a nearby shop and set off on our way!
The wind wasn't kind to us and we were fighting it with the tinny.
We walked from Big Bertha towards the cache vicinity. Oh we have to go there....ok, we started the scramble over the rocks making our way to GZ. Had a couple of rest stops, but we eventually got there. Happy to see where the cache was hidden because it could have been a lot harder, that's for sure! [^] Thanks 'Herbz' for the fun, cheers!

A quick find late in the day before heading over to the Earthcache event. We beached the canoe very close to the wall and made the quick trip up the rocks and retrieved the cache and signed the log.
All is good with the cache.

I was fortunate enough to see the sunrise whilst on the water as I drifted down on the tide to this cache after finding Big Bertha nearby. I slipped around the point and beached the kayak. A quick rock hop and the cache was in my hand.
Signed the log and very carefully replaced the container, as I was afraid it would fall into the pipe and be gone forever. I spent a few minutes on the rocks watching the dawn fishermen heading for the seaway and the trawlers on their way in before returning.
Thanks, Team Herbz.

Well, Little Bertha had been replaced. So I made the effort to walk the full length of the beach from Wavebreak Wonderland to check this one, just in case.
My knees protested when I got to the rock wall. Only 36 hours ago, they had 1500 metres of rock hopping on a rock wall in Towsville chasing a cacye and didn't like the memory of it. The hint was obvious at GZ, but there was no sign of the cache.
Thanks Herbz.

Today's goal was to 'find' the 10 caches out here on 'Wave break Island', 'South Stradbroke Island and the island south of Wave break Island.
But do I own a boat? Nope.
Did I organise to borrow someone else's boat? nope.
So I swam.
Low tide was around 0430 this morning so I started as soon as I could see the other side.
The plan was to go to Wave Break Island first (shortest swim), collect the 5 caches there, across to South Stradbroke Island, 2 caches here, a quick turn around back to Wave break Island, walk back to the south end and cross over to the next island for the last three and finish just south of where I left the car. And I followed the plan
What happened I did not expect was going to and from South Stradbroke Island starting near 'Wave Break Wonderland'. The swim over was easy...I knew with the tide coming in I would 'drift' a little north and I did (about 100m) no problem.
On the return I knew I would drift north again. So far so good. The swim back went according to plan until I got about 50-100m from the rock wall.
The current was like a very strong rip around the end of the wall. I got to about 30m from the wall and just got washed past the wall and beyond. Straight into a couple out fishing in their boat. They were kind enough to let me on board and then drive me around to the beach.
Back to the plan and all went well after that. Though the last swim had to be timed when there was less traffic and do it quickly. A great adventure that ended well.

Not many places to hide it so I think it is missing, unless it is among the rocks.

We hired the tinny today and had a fun time caching. Looks like you all had a great CITO event. We wish that we were here for it.
Ms M nosed up to the rocks to drop me off and then waited off shore while I made the find. Quite exposed to muggles here but hopefully far enough away that they had no idea.

Made it back through the shipping channel in one piece. My paddling shoes were very sketchy on the rocks, so this was a slow find
Found while attending the Wavebreak CITO. I decided to let the kids scramble to this one while I stayed back on the beach and collected bottles and cans that some thoughtless muggles have thrown around. Thanks for the challenging hide team Herbz!
Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
Quite sure that passing boaties wouldn't have noticed anything suspicious about a throng of people clambering over a lot of slippery, treacherous rocks, as though we needed to be just that bit further out to enjoy the unimpeded view!
PPrime popped my name in the log after Crew153 retrieved the cache from the furthermost point... Can't recall the name of the thoughtful lady cacher who donated the pen
We all took a short cut down to the beach rather than scramble back the looooong way.
Please be CAREFUL and suggest not a place for geokids to go

As soon as we started to get close I had an idea where Herbz would have located this one and yes I wasn't disappointed
There was nothing for but to clamber up behind Mr LLJ and Mr Gap...well I wasn't going to be left behind for this now was I?
I carefully picked my way and by the time I made it Mr LLJ had his hot little hands on the cache
A nice view from this one, a fav point for this one TFTC

Having arrived on Wavebreak Island for the C.I.T.O. Event and after a little socialising, we headed off with La Kedi and the Rabbit Hunters in search of some caches ... and rubbish too. As we approached ground zero, a rather much too energetic Culture 50 ran up the beach and scampered up the rocks. Our ascent was somewhat less graceful but we got there in the end and signed our names in the log. Thank you for having placed the cache Herbz
"Well, a little bit of a walk to collect garbage ... but this? This is NOT garbage, it's a cache, and right where the compass said it should be - funny that." Yep, this about summed up the morning. Rewind a bit ......
Drizzling, slightly windy Saturday - and off to the Gold Coast I go for a spot of rubbish collection, geocaching, sausages, event madness and carpet bagging. And upon arrival curtesy of the Terror Express canoe, and a small spot of paddling to assist, a quick swim to sign the event log, and it was time to go for a garbage run ... it was a CITO event after all.
Collecting the delectable Miss Annie Ladybug first (no, I am not calling her rubbish), we set off around the island in an anti-clockwise direction. No particularly good reason for that, just something to do. With a bag half full already we arrived at a rocky outcrop viewing a great spot for a bit of Spearfishing ... but sadly no! But a cache was quickly in hand thanks to the determined rock sliding efforts of a couple of earlier rubbish collectors and signed without dropping it - always a good thing here.
And safely back to terra firma beach without slipping over and a smilie to our names.
Thanks for placing this cache, Herbz. Found in good condition.

This was the first stop for the Gazest half of Gaz'n'Kab as we circumnavigated the Island in the canoe, grabbing rubbish from the water and caches en route. An easy landing and we headed up, finding a few wobbly rocks along the way, most concerning in bare feet Wandered out along the breakwater and after a bit of a look about, Gaz spotted the cache. A good hide indeed. Already enjoying this little waterborne caching trip. TFTC Herbz
This one was next up on the list, and after spending some time out on the headland, we soon spotted the cache

Found while at a CITO event. I let stairman 1 grab this one. Only 1 more to go. Thanks Herbz.
Party of a group attending the CITO event today. We made our way out over the rocks to nab this one. A boat full of muggles were fishing below us but did not worry about what we were up to. Great spot out here.
Thanks team Herbz

After a quick clamber across the rocks with Stairman we quickly had this cache in hand.
Not the kinda thing i would have done in water logged shoes, filled with sand (from our daily activity) but the cache beckoned.

Mr LLJ led the way as Ms Wig and I followed..... hmmmm, these are quite awkward aren't they!!!
A quick find, then some more awkward moves to get back.... just as Mr Couchmen arrived.
We then spent some time contemplating a funny photo that we could have taken at GZ... but it would have taken a lot of preparation..... hmmm, might have to find a similar cache??
Thanks Herbz, Great spot too!!

In the congenial company of the Just A Trifles and Hunting Rabbits, and joined at GZ by the pen-less Culture50, this was the first of the caches we found on our CITOmnavigation of the island today. Leaving our bags of bottles and butts at the bottom, we scrambled and rock-hopped our way to GZ, with me praying fervently my usual lack of coordination wouldn't result in the untimely disappearance of one Kedi. It didn't (possibly due to my father's advice of maintaining three points of contact at all times!) and the cache was found and signed. The return seemed easier - might have something to do with leaping... Oh, and I didn't spearfish anything. TFTC, Herbz. =^.^=
Quick find at this one, but oh, what a trip to get there . Definitely not one to hurry to. Signed the log and headed back to the C.I.T.O. event for a sausage and onion reward.
Radnoski had turned up a bit early to the Event - so I decided to accompany him on an FTF hunt. First in, best dressed!
We made our way toward GZ - probably could have picked a better route but we eventually found a path to follow. I did not realise where GZ was until I saw Radnoski clambering along. Well - it IS a terrain 5 cache after all.
We clambered over to GZ and Radnoski made an easy find. We opened it to find he got FTF @ 9.30am. Radnoski was gracious enough to share the *FTF* with me. I peformed a bit of camoflague work at Team Herbz's request, signed the log and returned it to its home.
A challenging little area. I didn't relax till I was back on the sand! TFTC Team Herbz

Headed up here at the start of our CITO. Reached the GZ when one cacher came running up with a pencil and led us straight to it. Thanks Herbz for hiding these on our island tour.
I knew were it would be -so race up to it and found quickly -Arghhh- no pen so off we went vowing to come back later-then as we about 200m up the beach with a bag full of litter -it was a CITO event after all, we turned around and saw a gaggle of cachers in the vicinity of the cache-as our bag was full we raced back to see if we could borrow a pen-well I raced back and Sue , left with the bag , followed behind. A pen was obtained , log signed , bag emptied in the bin , and off we went again.

I was on the island for the CITO event and joined others for the clean up/ cache hunt around the island. This was the first on the list.
It was quite evident where the cache would be located . A shower of rain came over as we started the assault and a bit of care was needed to get to the spot.
A gentle juggling of the cache to ensure that it didn't disappear into the depths.
Another 4 point scramble back to the beach and off to collect some more rubbish and some more caches.

A great cache. Thanks for placing it here Herbz (I think). It was a bit hairy stepping across those boulders. One false move and a broken leg stuck down gaps in the boulders would have been a disaster. Fortunately very careful foot placement, and hands often in use too, made for a successful retrieval of the cache and the log signing. Got back off the boulders with no mishaps. Phew!
With all the grace of a bulldozer I slowly climbed, slid and crawled out to grab this one. That bit in the notes about moving rocks, yeah forgot about it till the one I stepped on moved This is a interesting cache to get to but please be carefull if the rocks are wet. TFTC

Out on the island today with a Herbz organised CITO and it was a fantastic day all round.
We don't have a boat so I was determined to grab all the caches on the island including the newly placed ones for the event.
INTERESTING!!! That's the first thought that came into my head when I spotted the approach to this one.
To say the approach was a bit ROCKY is an understatement, I decided that speed was definitely out and chosing a safe route was definitely in.
Herbz you have a sinister mind, but I still like you and your creativeness.

It was the morning of the Wavebreak CITO event. I arrived at the boat ramp near the Grand Hotel to see who was around.
After finding Mr & Mrs Lat Long unloading their kayak and talking to them for a few minutes we spotted a boat making it's way from Wavebreak.
It was Mr Herbz who was picking up some more supplies. He had room for Blake and myself for the return trip. We got to the island to find Mrs Herbz and Fangsoki already there.
There were still three FTF's hopefully up for grabs, so it would be "just plain rude not to" head off to grab the nearest one with Fangsoki.
We weaved our way through the various plants finding bits of flattened ground slightly resembling a "path" along the way.
We spotted the likely hiding spot and after a bit of rock hopping soon had the cache in hand.
The log was unrolled to reveal a blank log and a joint *FTF* for Fangsoki and myself.
Thanks for the cache Team Herbz.... and the boat ride Mr Herbz .... and the babysitting Mrs Herbz while I tracked this one down.
Cheers!! That's enough cache hunting for the day, off to the event I go.
