The authorities insist the spit must be closed all year around so I have decided to give up.
There are several signs advising to keep away as birds are nesting. The birds don’t nest all year but it seems the authorities don’t want to keep removing the signs every six months. Therefore I suggest we give it a few more months and if the signs remain then I will archive it.
Thanks duck 43 for this Traditional here and my number 5281.

At least I’m pretty sure this old rusty container with a wet piece of paper was the cache

The hint is quite precise, it should not have taken long to find it. Unfortunately, I had to give up after about 30 minutes of searching. There is still swans nesting around. I tried to not disturb them. I will have to come here again.
I had great intentions of making this my 1000th find, but it wasn’t to be.
After noting that the wet weather was finally clearing this afternoon, I travelled to the Point Walter car park, kicked off my shoes and embarked on my journey to the end of the spit.
The water level ranged between mid-shin height and just glancing the bottom of my shorts. The sun was shining, the breeze was gentle, and I had the area almost entirely to myself. It was perfect.
When I arrived on dry land, I was greeted by pelicans, fairy terns and black swans. One black swan took me completely by surprise near GZ as she reared up from her well concealed nest and let out a threatening hiss! After initially being led into the water by the GPS and giving the protective swan some space to keep her relaxed, I searched nearby possible land-based hosts before referring to the hint. Whilst the hint focused my search area, I was unfortunately unable to spot the prize.
With light fading as dusk quickly approached, I made the decision to make the return journey before I completely lost sight of where to put my feet under the water (but not before uncharacteristically sending a quick message to the CO for help while I was still off shore).
In the spirit of CITO, I brought some rubbish back with me to dispose of responsibility.
It was a great experience and hopefully I can redeem myself sometime! TFTH .
My 1000th find milestone was instead achieved at duck 43’s nearby ‘The Platform’ cache while I paused to enjoy the sunset before heading home .

The department of Parks and Wildlife have confirmed it is ok to visit the area and the signs have been removed until October when I will disable it again.
I'm disabling this to give the CO an opportunity to visit the site and determine the status of this cache. Please provide the status here so we all know what's happening.
I'll check back in 30 days.
Thanks.

Really wanted to find this one as the Maldives is our fave place but still closed fir breeding at east enjoyed the travel to get there
I was having a paddle in order to get a nearby earthcache. Unable to access this one at the moment. The island is rope fenced off due to breeding birdies (probs not 43 ducks). Enjoyed the wade and sightseeing though. Tfth
Loved this find! It was great fun. Low tide was 11.30 pm so we went as late in the day as we could. Still had to wade though. Water wasn’t cold once your legs went numb .
Found the cache, but couldn’t sign it as paper was wet.

We had lovely walk out to the cache. The tide was retreating but was still just shy the nethers so we continued all the way to find the nice big container.
This cache needs the clue as it's a fragile area. We are glad it was well described.
We took a new trading for you and let it average so we would be confident of them being within 4m of accuracy.

Thanks to those that helped with the coordinates. These are ok now ,although not spot on.
A wet walk and a quick find. Will send a photo to the CO with our coords.
TFTC duck 43 this is find # 9555 for us.

Had to have a look around but found the tide was a little high so had to swim a bit.
I am having trouble with the coordinates. Just go to the last bush. Please send me the coordinates once you find it.
During this crazy pandemic we took our allocated daily, socially-distant exercise by wading to the end of the Spit to find the cache. Got some much needed fresh air!
Found today, after the Australia Day Triathlon. Messaged a photo of the number. Tftc.
Oh drats!! Did not read all the info before walking back! Just assumed we wouldn’t be able to find it because it was closed for nesting season, and now too late to go back!
Maybe you could put the info about the summer relocation at the top of the information section?

Glad I read the hint otherwise I'd have just turned around after bring greeted by the fence. Answer sent to the CO. TFTC
Fabulous location & had heaps of fun strolling out to find this one. Great way to wrap up 2019! TFTC
Find 7 of 14 with just one DNF on a pleasant bike ride in duck country, then a drive through Freo picking up some solved puzzles.
Rode most of the way out to this one where the sand was firm. Tough in the strong winds to make progress but we got to the fence then read the description and realised we didn't have to cross it which was good news. Will send the answer by email.
TFTC duck 43!

TFTC duck 43!
A lovely day for a walk out here with I C Nothing, we thought we’d do some caching whilst the kids are still at school. Thanks for bringing us to the spot. I C Nothing has sent an email on my behalf with the required info. TFTC!
Out with Kapelula grabbing a few caches in the area. Decided to stop for lunch here then have a afternoon stroll out to this cache. Email sent with the answer. Thanks for bringing us here to enjoy
It was a great trip along the west coast of Australia. There was a lot to discover and of course we also looked for caches. Some caches lured us to places that we would not have visited otherwise. Sometimes we were rewarded with a great view or a wonderful location. Some caches we discovered very quickly, others we searched longer and some we searched in vain. Now we are back home and think back to a wonderful time in West Australia with great experiences and a lot of caches we have logged. This tradi is one of them.
Thanks to all owners for hiding their caches. They made our time in Australia even more exciting. PePPer812

Thanks Duck

Um there are no posts or fences of any kind? Not even anything that ppl have taken photos of
Sounds like the fence has finally been removed. When I get the time I will put a new one out.
With our bicycles on tour through Perth and along the Swan River. It is a fantastic landscapes and we like it to collect some caches.
We want to find some Duck 43 Caches but the search was not easy.
Were we walk through the water to the Island. Good that the weather was warm. A nice idea and the nature and the birds were not bother.
We give an thick point.
Thank you and greetings from Germany send Moorhelmi

Found it last month but forgot to log. Thanks for the walk there. Found the cup and emailed the number to the CO. Tftc
First timer here so I bit the bullet and waded through the water on this gorgeous afternoon. Found the numbered cap from the hint. Thank you!
Assume I no longer need my trusty pink or purple pens? The rain eased off and it was a lovely stroll and double wade out to the island. No one about, just the birds and jellyfish. I think is my last cache of yours Duck 43 (this trip) so I’d like to thank you for bamboozling me and congratulate you on some (most) of the best caches I’ve found anywhere in the world. We have -krop- in London and he’s good but not as good as you. Shhh, don’t tell him though or he’ll up the ante.
Searched each post thoroughly and found no cache or cap as mentioned in previous logs. A good excuse to return here another day
we found a cap wedged under the yellow cap no bottom bit.
On the way back we collected the answers for the Earth-cache
Thanks for the cache duck 43

Checked under every yellow cap along the fence and nothing found. Oh well, must be gone by natural causes.
Wandered out today with mum and following the hint, found a cap wedged under the yellow cap. Took a bit of effort to extract from it from its hide-hole, guessing not quite as intended. No bottom and no log book. Left half a post-it note as a makeshift log, which will probably only be good until after the next drenching. Thanks for providing another reason to walk the sand bank. Stunning day for it as well.
Quick-ish find, had to get our feet a bit wet though. Worth a favourite for the location
Heading down SOR for a New Years Eve family get together. I’ve been eying off this cache for shed , so with tide not to high I managed to grab the cache while themongrel hid me while I found the cache tftc
After a previous DNF, had returned some months later via kayak to have another go and this time thanks to hint had made an easy find. Must not have saved my log, so am entering a late one now. TFTC duck 43.
P.S. I'm giving a fave, not for the cleverness, but for the stunning location.

In Australia vacation with my favorite Delphin05 searched and found. TFTC says BlitzSven1979
Walked through the water early this morning hoping to get a find, searched for a while but couldn’t find on post or under cap! Not sure if this one is gone!
Now I have wet heavy pants but well worth it. I’ve lived here pretty much all my life but had never been out there- thanks for the cache
What a great place for a cache Thanks for getting me back here duck 43 and for that it gets a FP All ok here
A glorious day to be at this location and my first cache in quite a while. A nice walk out to GZ and a quick find once there. TFTC.
We spent some time trying to decide whether or not to go for this one. We watched a couple wade out there and it didn't seem to be too deep to traverse but we still waited a bit until it was closer to low tide.
I really wish I had looked for a hint before we went there. I spent a long, long time looking. Mr L said he had searched all the obvious places but it turned out that he had missed the one mentioned in the hint. Never mind we only got wet up to our thighs and didn't get washed away by the tide. There were many black swans watching our antics and we relied on them to show us the shallower sand banks.
I should mention that when I thought this was going to be a DNF I asked Mr L to take my photo in front of the sign so that I could plead with the CO for a found log. Thankfully it wasn't necessary. Many thanks for the adventure and this gets my last favourite point!

Geo niece made the find a pencil as mentioned in the last post and the clever hide. A beautiful walk out after a BBQ dinner to end our summer holidays a picture of non compliant geo niece and Duckie
A very late log, found with parkacruz and piknik15 but we never logged online which we are now rectifying TFTC
We decided to head back today to continue on with the duck43 caches, well we are more than happy to claim another smiley, thanks for the fun and TFTC
Forgot to mention the actual log was missing at GZ, we found the pencil and the place it should’ve been, sent a pic to the CO

Wow, amazing how warm the water was this afternoon as the tide was on the way in. Decided to pop down here and grab it before the tide got too high. Thanks for re-placing this one Mr Duck; all good here and pleased that it's quite accessible and no guilty feelings needed.
Paddle Boards were the answer here! first cache since coming on holiday from Ireland. TFTC
Headed out after a successful follow up at "The Platform" but did not make the find here. Sat pic and phone were indicating GZ was about 10m past the restrictive fence. Hopped it with misgivings (I hadn't walked all that for nothing) and started a tentative search. Didn't seem to be too much cover for a cache and when I had worked to a point where I found a massive egg nearly the size of a cricket ball, I decided that I was too uncomfortable being here to stay.
On a brighter point, I have always lived in Perth and while I was aware of this sandbar, duck is right, I had never actually been on it.
