Great family adventure, nice camouflaged container requiring all the family to search low
And high
And high
Easy find today, but following recent heavy rains the container was full of water and log book soaked
Emptied out water, the log book will hopefully dry out in time.

We started the climb just as the sun was going down, a slippery climb up and down but we managed to make the find before it was dark and back into the car. A few scratches and scraps but all good . A great view from here
After this find we’ve officially declared ourselves GeoNuts. Hot, sweaty and challenging. All for a little trinket box. thanks anyway.
Found on a road trip with Team Outnabout taking in the Meeka races and places of interest along the way from Geraldton to Newman. I reckon having willingly trekked to this cache must just about make us official Geonuts. TFTC
pug002 found it on 11/8/2018 on our trip north. Todays logs we have been putting 10th, we have lost a day somewhere Looks like another day of mountain goating. Well we did it again went over the first hill and surprise, surprise there was a track to the left which would have bought us at the bottom of the first hill and only one hill to mountain goat. Geo Hubby said you stay here and over he went very soon shouting got it. TFTC Rustic Relics.
A bit of a trek for this mumma with a head cold and a 3 year old but we made it to the top! What a magical view! Signed the log and placed some cache in so the toddlercacher could get his pick of the bucket! TFTH
Quick find after a mad hill climb. Removed food items and swapped dead pen for an ikea pencil. TFTH SL cheers
Last for the day, feeling shattered after a big day of caches! Hoping to find the visitors centre cache when we return to our van, but a fantastic day here in Newman! TFTC
Walked from town to the location as is was a cool day best to take the road past the motor cross track instead of the one past the end of the rife range.
I was going to attempt this one a couple of days ago, but when I got to the approach and saw the track up the hill, as it was late in the day and I had already scrambled up several hills that day, I decided to leave it until later. I arrived today full of vim and vigour and set off up the hill and down the hill and up the next hill until I had the cache in my hot little hand. I took the TravelBug to continue its journey. As it wants to go to China, I'll take it with me to Port Hedland and maybe someone going to Darwin can take it there. LNSL TFTC Rustic Relics & Darksoull.
With a dislike for the "red eye" back to Melbourne, I had stayed an extra night ad was flying out this morning. Of course I was up early with the sun so I had some caching time before breakfast. I did make a second attempt at a cache...and failed again...chased off by the bees. Thinking I had found all the caches I was going to find this visit, I was just driving around...and I realised that is cache was a possibility in the remaining time I had.
I drove past the motorcross circuit and along the pipe track until I found 4WD track heading straight up a hill and generally in the right direction. As this point I left the car and set out on foot. The 4WD track got me part of the way...and then it was just a scramble. Eventually I made it to the top and after a short hunt, had the cache in hand. I signed the log and left a Trackable that wants to get to China.
Thanks Rustic Relics & Darksoull for the cache.

A quick find today after a brisk walk up the hill. Great views from up here that I've not seen before. SL - no swaps. Thanks to Rustic Relics for the cache.
Found it thanks now I no how unfit I am from that walk lol great place beautiful views
I had tried yesterday to find the road out to this spot,
but from the likely turnoff toward the speedway,
it looked decidedly muddy !! [:o]
Forget it !!
Back in towne this morning,
I had parked the geomobile at Kalgan's Rest and wandered up the nearby ridge to find another Newman cache that resides there.
From up on high I could see the likely hill that this cache was sitting on top of.
Just 1.5kms away
So !! Always one to want an excuse for a cross country stroll through the bush,
I wandered off in the general direction of 'here'
'Tis beautiful scenery out here at the back of towne.
And the strollin' is easy
Fires have taken out most of the spinifex in the last year,
so the new spinifex shoots are not a problem to walk through .... yet !
Crossing the 'road' at the base of the hill,
the only way was up
But a zig-zag kinda up !!
No point climbing up the steepest, rockiest slope is there ?
And at the end of me rather pleasant ramble on a cool and sunny morning,
I found meself looking out over the scenery.
Everything is visible from up here.
The towne, the mines, the car wrecks by the road below, and even a whistling kite or two soaring on the updrafts [^]
The cache was an easy find behind its door of out of place rocks
I grabbed the "Africa" Trackable out of the cache while I was here.
I wandered back via a slightly different route to explore a couple of nearby rocky outcrops on the way back to the geomobile.

Fave dance time !!

I managed to drive to within 280m of this one, so no long walk for me.
I achieved this by coming in on a track from behind the cemetery.
It wasn't that rough and would be achievable in a 2wd car with care.

Well we too had 3 little children and ended up covered in spinifex but well worth it! We saw a small family of kangaroos and that got the kids wondering how they cope with spinifex ha ha Thankyou guys it was a great hike
As I walked to this cache, I kept thinking to myself...
" My friends came here with their 3 & 5 year old, and in thongs and shorts"
It cant be that bad...Well, I can only imagine their legs after returning.
Spinifex everywhere. Once I got to the second summit, the cache was quickly found.
TFTH Rustic Relics. My last cache in Newman now done.....Just the big ones to go...

On a three week road trip north, through the Pilbra, Karijini then over to Exmouth. Caching along the way to help see some sights and have some breaks. Had great weather all trip apart from the last week once we hit the coast. Never the less, had a great trip.
Scratchy legs to get to this one. TFTC

The good ole 4wd geobus tackled this well to the top of the first hill but everything fell to the ground due to the steep slope backwards. Mrs M was hanging on for grim death... hoping that wouldn't happen, i mean. Mr M hoofed it the rest of the way and swapped swag. He was back before the kettle had boiled, my hero Last for Newman, Mrs M's former workplace in the 80s. Off to Karijini....TFTC
MB ride from town to this one at dusk what a great view from the top. Thanks for the cache quick trip back down cheers
This has turned out to be a fun time getting so many so quickly.
A quiet drive out past the fun parks then a 250m walk across and up a sharp climb to GZ.
Good views, phone reception and setting sun made a great finish to a great couple of hours exploring Newman.
And another bloody Golf ball, what is it with Newman.
Oh well that makes 3 for the day.
Left a pen as the other one was OTB, shame that someone would have to walk back for a pen if it conks out.

Day nine of our holiday to Karajini NP, we headed to Newman to visit the area and its surrounds... We stopped by this cache although by the time we found it we were wishing we had of given it a miss It was very hard going... Although we love a good bush bash, the spinifex sucked! Mainly because we were doing it with our two kidlets (4 & 2 yr old)....
Once at GZ the cache was quickly found... The kids happily looked through the contents and we headed off quickly as there was rain heading across! We did take a few snaps and will post when we get back home [^]
TFTC Rustic Relics. We now have a dislike of spinifex, but still we loved the great view from this spot

19 May 2013, Week 3 – Day 22 of our Trip Around Australia (http://mrlocks.tumblr.com)
“1CADFAY”, (1 cache a day for a year).
We had an early start to the day, partly due to the shift workers arriving back to the camp at 5am and then proceeding to be a bit noisy, also we had booked into the mine tour for 9am. We arrived at the tourist office with little time to spare before the bus departed. We quickly fitted ourselves out in the required safety apparel of high viz jacket, hard hat and safety glasses. We were also required to wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and closed in shoes.
Once we were all loaded onto the bus we headed off to the top of a mountain of overburden taken from the mine.
The site is spread out over many square kilometres, the pit is currently 5.5ks long and 1.5ks wide. There were dozens of heavy dump trucks zooming all around the site in all directions collecting loads and dropping them off. Large conveyers were stockpiling the ore into huge mountains ready to be loaded into the train carriages, between 212-336 in number and stretching up to 3.75ks long. We took photos and the tour guide gave a commentary of facts and figures about the mine.
After our bus tour we sat and had a scones with jam & cream outside the visitors centre, then we went off to find a cache at Radio Hill Lookout, “Ore My God!, GC1PG5M”. This lookout has 360 degree views of the surrounding area, looking down onto the town and out to the satellite mines sites in the distance. We managed to find the cache without too much drama while a bunch of Gypsy Joker Bikies were having some refreshments at the nearby viewing area. Jacki spotted the cache hidden in amongst some rocks and we quickly signed the log and headed off to find another cache, which we had been near when we first arrived in town but didn’t realize was there, at the town information bay, “Newmanland, GC1PG5W”. This was an quick find by Charlie as it was semi exposed, we signed the log and Charlie placed it back with a few extra rocks to cover it more.
It was now time to head back to the caravan to have our lunch. We spent the afternoon at the caravan while the kids did some of their school work and I worked on my Geocaching article I was writing.
Later in the afternoon as the sun was getting quite low, we headed out to find another nearby cache “Dark Relics, GC413J0”. This involved a bit of a drive out to the industrial area and past the motocross track, we found the 4x4 track mentioned in the description so decided to park here. Chloe and myself walked to the cache while Charlie and Jacki waited as they didn’t have suitable clothing to protect against the needle sharp spinifex grass. We made our way up the steep rocky track, being careful not to slip on the loose rocks as it would mean a painful tumble back down the steep slope. Once we had crested the first hill we needed to go offroad, traversing through the goat tracks between large clumps of spinifex, being careful where we placed our steps on the loose rocky ground. We continued up to the top of another steep rocky hill, still needing to chose our path carefully, eventually we reached the summit and were rewarded with spectacular views all around us. The sun was now setting so we needed to hurry to find the cache before it got too dark. We had a quick find and soon logged the find and replaced the cache carefully back in its hidey hole, then we made a speedy but careful return to the car, arriving as the light faded. We returned to the caravan to prepare our dinners and settle in for the night. Chloe and Charlie slept outside under the annex with Chloe in the cot bed and Charlie in his little tent. During the night, at about 1am, the expected change in the weather came through and it became a bit windy and rained for a while but was only a mild change and the kids were not disturbed.

OK, found it this time - it's amazing the difference a good GPS can make!
As the car's in the shop at the moment, I walked there from town, so it ended up being a really pleasant way to kill a couple of hours.
I was on the top of the ridge last time, so there was no way I was going to find it then.
Even with a better starting point, there are so many plausible hiding places in the area that I still ended up having to match the photo you put up to the terrain to eventually find it.
I took the travel bug and will drop it in one of the caches in Pt Hedland next time I'm over there.
Thanks for the hide, Rusty, and thanks for maintaining it, Darksoull

Found it, didn't even use a GPS ha ha ha (PS I was with Budgie when he hid it). Dropped off the Kora Koala Tackable that Rustic Relics posted over to me. Hope it moves on and enjoys its time here in the Pilbara
Spent about 40 min fossiking around, but couldn't find it. It could be because I'm only using a phone app as a GPS at the moment. It wouldn't give me a consistent ground zero...
I'll have another go soon as I get a real GPS, because the walk to the area was fun
Thanks for the hide, Budgie!

Nice quick FTF today after dropping a colleague off to fly out. Managed to drive up most of the way although i wouldn't recommend it without some 4x4 experience. No reptiles but the rumble of thunder as a summer storm was approaching. Thanks for the FTF pin.
