Logs

All good things must come to an end. One of our favourite caches has been slated for oblivion for a couple of years now. Today as we drove past, we noted the construction machinery digging away at the cache location. Soon it will be a memory under an 8-lane interchange. So, we say goodbye. When Gary Numan sang "Here in my car, I feel safest of all", he clearly didn't know what he was talking about...

On my way back to Bundaberg and thought I’d get a cache or two on the way. TFTC.

06-Aug-20
Good find

01-Aug-20
Out and about collecting a few north brisbane caches early on a saturday morning before returning to take the geo wife for a drive in the country.

18-Jul-20
On our way a bit further up north and we pulled off the highway to go the scenic route and grab a few caches on the way this one was the first of those caches. Quick spotting was made by swearah as we approached GZ. Tftc

18-Jul-20
Ducked in to get this one with jodsta83. Spotted fairly quickly but getting to it was a careful operation with those huge thorns! All good and no blood was drawn. TFTC

10-Jul-20
Not sure about the 'hard' but the last attribute is certainly correct. TFTC

06-Jul-20
A prickly fun find and a nice way to start our day. TFTC

04-Jul-20
After an exhausting week at work due to the end/beginning of the financial year, I was chomping at the bit to get outside today into some fresh air and hunt down a few caches. Couldn't have picked a better day for it, it was certainly Goldilocks weather - not too hot and not too cold, even with the wind blowing. Although the main reason for my trip over this side of town was a bust, I did pick up quite a few others including this one.

As I pulled in to my chosen parking spot I was a little dismayed to find another muggle pulled up close by. A short wait later and he drove off leaving me free to head off towards GZ. I ended up taking a much longer route to GZ than was actually necessary, thinking the direct route from the car was worse than it actually was (I headed back that way after the find).

Noting the warning about not leaving as pretty as you were, I has hoping that if I entered as ugly as I am, it might work in reverse and leave prettier, but my hopes were sadly dashed.

Cache found safe and well and the logbook signed. TFTC

20-Jun-20
Found with geo grandson. It is still wet. Placed travel bug in cache. TFTC

12-May-20
On our way to climb Mt. Beerburrum I had a few target caches for a particular reason, this was one of them. I had GEOBSF with me, this was a quick find and I made the grab, log signed and it was off to the next target on our way north. As we came out of the bushes there were 2 police cars sitting watching, nothing was said but I’m sure the conversations were being had in the cars, lol
Cache is in good condition except the log was a little damp. Thanks for the cache.

We found this one today whilst out and about, what a hide and the grass was a little longer than one had hoped. Find was a lucky one on dusk and in poor light. TFTC from the inspectorrexteam.

16-Feb-20
I was a little bored at home and it’s been a few days since I’ve been out caching, so I thought I’d head out to grab a few caches in an area I was at recently, but didn’t have the time to clean up the rest of them, so here I am today.

Had a pleasant afternoon out, plenty of mozzies are still lingering around with all the rain we’ve had recently, but other then that it was great.

TB removed as it’s been here for a while.

Find #626 - TFTC

This was the second attempt on this one. But last attempt was at night. So not surprised I couldn’t find it. But this time I did. Need to change the direction I came though.

Cache a day to keep the doctor away, or is it to keep me sane. No it’s to keep my streak alive. TFTC Slow Puncture *374* streak. *2227* Finds

06-Dec-19
Heading north to collect the kiddos for the weekend and had some time to kill. Managed to weave my car all the way in, which was amazing considering the 400 degree heat!

Nicely hidden and once I had negotiated for thousand spikes from the hanging vines, the cache was in hand.

Thanks for the cache Slow Puncture! It was in great condition and makes smiley 646 Smile

14-Nov-19
The biggest challenge, really, was walking from eastern side of highway at 08:00hrs; now thorns & walk in less difficult than 1st glance wood suggest. T4TC & the hx!&

14-Sep-19
Found with Quesera after a search, thanks for placing this cache here

14-Sep-19
After sharing the day with the CO’s on a 4wd adventure at nearby Bribie Island they kindly pointed in the direction of the cache on the way home. After dropping them off thought it would be rude not to claim the find on my way out as my mother brought me up not to be rude. Nice spot to park on the side road and an impressive Bougainvillea at GZ but quite easy to access with the right approach. TFTC

14-Sep-19
Sharpem and I were out collecting smilies. This was one the co warned me about so I came prepared with thick gardening gloves and long pants. At gz we looked and looked with no luck then I stomped through a part of the vine that was dead and there was the cache. Only got 1 little scratch. Then I found a better trail back to the car. Always the way. I used to love the cars. Thanks for the fun

30-Aug-19
The previous cachet’s hint about the geotrail helped get me from the car to the bougainvillea and then a half hour search began. The three massive bushes were spectacular being in full watermelon coloured flower. After suffering some scratches (due to its 2.5 terrain rating) I reasoned that this find wasn’t meant to be easy. I decided to give up. On my return to the car I saw that the area is crisscrossed with geotrails, so I followed one to another area and there was the cache box. Yeay! Thanks for the cache placement.

Thank you so much for this hide. It nearly gave me a heart attack but the log got signed and cache replaced as found. Heart attack was from a huge spider sitting on the lid, then when I opened the box, there was another huge black spider inside. This was was just a swap. I have taken the spider and left some other cool swaps in its place so no one else has to go through the scare I went through.

03-Aug-19
Argh, nice easy find thanks to the geo trail look out for thorns though tftc

13-Jul-19
Cheeky find and very thorny. We added a few swaps in there as a reward getting through the thorns.

**# 24676** Found on our 2019 trip to Qld for winter. Wink
A fine Autumn day for a drive around Burpengary and Banyo again.
Not that many muggles around here today and many good safe hides. Wink
I found it 7m from my GZ and got a few scratches too.
Thanks for the cache Slow Puncture (LJCC),

To us this area appears to have been a house property in a past life, the plants tend to give us this impression. We were very fortunate to spot the cache nearly immediately on arriving. No scratches for us today, thankfully. SL TFTC

06-Apr-19
Had to grab this one based on its limited life span. Got a lovely big thorn scratch but found easily enough ! Tftc

03-Apr-19
Nice easy one. Thanks

04-Mar-19
Great spot for a cache here. I live not more than a couple of minutes from this spot and drive past it multiple times each day.
I searched for a long time before deciding that I should come back with more appropriate clothing - longs shirt and pants after receiving s few scratches to arms and legs. I was about to leave when I searched another area and spotted it straight away. TFTC

28-Jan-19
Probably one of my favorite geocaches so far. The terrain rating is well deserved, you have to bring boots.

26-Jan-19
Yep, watch out for spikes. Took both TBs to take north.

Cheers

Bundy

Terrain rating increased slightly: SPIKES! If you don't know what bougainvillea is before you go to this cache, you will certainly know afterwards.

26-Dec-18
Having run out of the essentials (milk, bread, etc), Holly and I were sent to the shops. Another day with a gap in the calendar, so we swung by this cache as it was only a little out of the way.

Dropped off a TB.

Thanks!!

TFTC smile 3807 third time looking and luck was with me this time out and about with miss millie geo Thank you for placing the cache for our enjoyment

Mr SP was out today at the dump and stopped in here on the way back to follow up on the recent needs maintenance log.

Visited with some TBs whilst I attended to the cache.

This one received no further attention, it had been placed back appropriately by the last finder. The terrain had changed since we placed the cache, there is a partially fallen tree that has rendered some of the bougainvillea inaccessible, this cuts down the places to search.

07-Oct-18
This one was found with the lid thrown off and the lid was some distance away from the base which was in the open. We weren't sure where it should be hidden except that the CO mentioned it was at the base of the bougainvillea. Have semi hidden it behind the start of a bush. CO, you may wish to check if it is hidden as per your original hide. Note that it is in the general area that the GPS brought us to. About 3-4 metres (from memory) to the left of a concrete post)

07-Oct-18
This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

16-Jul-18
What a cache I followed the well worn geotrail for this one and searched at a certain spot for a good 10mins to no avail before finally deciding to widen my search and making a yuck find with only minimal cuts and scrapes TFTC

The SPs stoppped by to do some maintenance as we were passing.

Visited with some TBs whilst we attended to the cache.

This one received no special attention, all is in place here.

1minniemoo and I were on our way to pick up nyssaflutterby for today’s adventure but there was time for a couple of stops along the way. This was the closest one we both hadn’t found. We were a bit unsure as we approached in the car but then we could see where we should be headed. The grass was quite long but we bounded into it and were soon close to gz. Hoping we hadn’t approached from the wrong direction we started looking and 1mm spotted the cache. She did the crab crawl in and grabbed the cache and without drawing any blood! Tftc Slow Puncture.

21/3/18, 9:38 am Find #1543
My day off and I was to pick up the girls to head out for a day of caching. I get a message from NyssaFlutterby asking if I could possibly pick up Wombles&Co first. So I arrived at Wombles' pickup point and Nyssa then asks how long we will be before we get to her. "How long do you want us to be? We can make a couple extra stops on the way". "Yes please!!" came the reply.
So a quick look at our maps, and Wombles and I decide to head to this one first. Pulling the car up, we first moaned and groaned about the long wet grass, but soon changed our Princess Pants for our Queens-suck-it-up-and-deal pants, and charged on through, with Wombles mentioning something about Bougainvillea. Great that means thorns! Well so far I can see Mother in Law's Tongue, a Hibiscus and a Lillipilly, but no Bouganooooohhhhhh that!! We timidly began our search wondering if we had entered from the right spot or needed to be around the other side.
I then moved to a slightly different spot and saw it. Adjusting my Queenly Crown I headed in for a carefully executed grab feeling like Catherine Zeta Jones in Entrapment, but managed to grab, sign and replace, somehow without drawing any blood here.
Thanks for the cache Slow Puncture (LJCC).

14-Jan-18
Got here at dusk (7pm), but it was certainly too “freaky” for us to try without daylight .

15-Dec-17
Once again a spot you would not venture to unless you were a geocacher, spikey blighters, but not too much blood, log a tad damp but signable.

Quick in and quick out

07-Oct-17
On our way home from North Lakes with some size filters on and looking for quick finds due to weather this cache got geoson11 caught up in thorns giving geoson9 the opportunity to go in for the find. On returning to the car this geomum walked right into a sticky cobweb I swear wasn't there before and in my ninja moves realised I nearly disturbed one of the biggest orb spiders I've ever seen harmless but shudder worthy! TFTC

07-Oct-17
Parked up on Old Gympie Road and a short walk into the bush soon revealed the cache. Only drew blood once!! TFTC Slow Puncture Smile

Out with the RoddyC's and Selve Girl on the other side of town. All good here. TFTC Smile

25-Jun-17
Out for an afternoon of caching with Mr and Mrs RoddyC and EchoCage1. We parked the car and wandered over towards GZ. Perhaps I will try the that way - nice open space there. Turns out that this wasnt such a good decision. The cache is somewhere in all that bouganvillea!!!!!! Is there another way???? Turns out there was....but it still meant getting scratched by thorns and a bit of ducking and weaving under and around branches. At GZ, the cache was spotted. I made my to a spot where I wouldnt be reaching through the thorns and retrieved the cache. Log signed, I returned the cache to its spot and promptly bumped my head on a branch! Surprised TFTC

25-Jun-17
A rather rare visit to the lesser side of town with Echocage1 and Selva Girls.

Well this intersection didn't look like this back in the 70's. Then we were a young married couple with a toddler or two, and we would drive from Rockhampton to Brisbane on a Friday afternoon at the end of each Term (pre semester times) to visit my parents in Brissy. Single lanes each way and nowhere near as much traffic.

So yes, not so many cars, Mr and Mrs Slow Puncture. And no caches either!

Pretty impressive Bougainvillea here.

Log signed and replaced. Found at 2.20pm on 25th June 2017. TFTC, Slow Puncture.

12-May-17
Well.... I believe that bougainvillea may have grown a tad. There was crawling, twisting and spiders.

Note to future cachers... do not bend over while signing the log.... them spikes are sharp!

Found! Sadly something or someone had decided to open the container and spread its contents about. Gathered what I could and restored it. Wonder how old that magnificent bougainvillea is?

29-Sep-16
Parked on Old Gympie Rd and made my way to the cache through the long grass.
What a mass of bougainvilleas. So many pricky but so pretty.
Was starting to think that I had approached this from the wrong way but then spied that cache.
Thanks Slow Puncture an interesting place on a busy road.

Cool cache. Loved the flowers. Yep cars, cars, cars.

16-Sep-16
Found by Mary & David at 0905. A very accurate name, but there was plenty of room to park off the Old Gympie Road. A short trek through longish wet grass had us at GZ for a quick find. Our thanks to Slow Puncture (LJCC).

29-Aug-16
Found a car parking spot and was trying to find out the best way to gz, as I was trying to figure this out something small (I think a mouse/rat) ran through the grass. So after deciding not to go that way I had to be super stealthy going around the front way after a few mins I was in close to gz. Mins later I had cache in hand and signed away replaced and was out of there. What a beautiful coloured bouganvillea, which got me wondering why does something so beautiful have to be so thorny, just like roses I suppose....... TFTC Smile

28-Aug-16
Lovely spot. Drive around the highway side for easy access

20-Aug-16
We found it, and we didn't even get thorns in our shoes! Didn't find anywhere decent to park though coming off the highway so we just pulled over on the curb...

The all important C for marCh.

This one stumped us for a bit. I really had no idea how best to approach GZ. After a few approaches I ended up taking the longest possible route before finding the shorter easier path back out.

All good with this cache.

First cache that I planned to pick up on today's run. Took the wrong Bruce Highway turnoff so this ended up the last one picked up this morning's run. Some decent size thorns on the surrounding privacy wall! TFTC

27-Sep-15
With the sky rumbling, I parked the little blue/grey geobeast on the road sholdier and used appropiate care disembarking. Armed with my handy dandy reacher stick and pen, wandered down one of now many developing geotrails, thanks to fenced equipment yard where is best parking, and wandered along massive thorny barrier until cache spottd. All in good order Big Grin

TFTC 1 I have been meaning to get but kept forgetting to stop for until now.
Now to check out another elusive slow puncture cache. Later

Found it right on dusk. Lucky phones now have built-in torches right? Great hide. Judging by the variety of plants growing here there must have been a house in this spot once. TFTC

10-Jun-15
Pushing my way north into Narangba. My gps became absolutely useless here, I guess because of the trees. I resorted to bushwhackin' and looking everywhere that looked like a good hiding place. After about 15 minutes, I spotted the corner of the container peeking out at me from its comfy little nesting place. Great hide SP. TFTC

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there Slow Puncture (LJCC). We found your cache "Cars" at 11:38:00 AM today. This cache makes our find count 10784.
[Blue]
We are out caching with Urdera and thoroughly enjoyed our chauffer driven tour around the area today.

Thanks for not placing an eclipse tin or a 200ml Sistema here. For over ten years we have watched the quality of caches get steadily worse and worse. Once upon a time caches seemed to be "regular" sized, and well stocked with goodies for kids to swap. Nowadays it seems like every other cache is small and devoid anything to induce children to enjoy the hunt. It made us feel really good to find this cache in a "special" place.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards

Find #1804

Another foray into the sunshine coast hinterland was on the agenda for today.
Let's see how many more smilies we can coax out of the region! Smile

Never mind cars!
Extra long grass, potential snake habitat, spiders & cobwebs, heat, rustling noises in the grass, thorns (yes, thorns!) all combined to make this a very interesting cache indeed.

Still a nice quick find but with added interest by the bucketload! Smile

Took TB, otherwise TNLNSL.
