28-Sep-24
Family is away for the first week of the school holidays and so I have a plan to go caching. First goal is to make 7000 caches and hoping to crack 180 in a day on Monday. Today I headed west with the geohound - starting on 821 caches for the year (250 AdLabs!) and hoping to crack 50 in various LGAs for the day. It also happens to be AFl Grand Final day so listening to the Swans and the Lions as well. Had trouble downloading the cache info in Tocumwal so was hoping that this was still here. A big levee to drive on and probably should have parked closer (had to drive down to turn around anyway). Thankfully cache was in the obvious place and was an easy find.TFTC Blacklegend

Find number 12000 . After a DNF back in 2016 we came back to hopefully change. This wasn't the location we had searched. Must have put the incorrect co-ords into the machine. Now corrected. SL Tnx Blacklegend.

04-Jun-21
Beadled down this track on a chilly afternoon and was surprised to see someone camping not far from GZ. His setup looks pretty permanent as there’s a dog pen and 3 displeased pooches set to barking as I drove past. As for the cache, a quick find and all is good here

Out and about in Tocumwal and surrounds to find some stolen jewels missing from the Mystery at the Museum. We have found a couple of others of yours in the TSR series and this was next on our list. Glad you warned us about snakes! We surprised a large black snake who had been enjoying the sunshine at the base of the tree at GZ. It obviously didn’t want company as it soon disappeared down a hole nearby. We proceeded with due caution to the other side of the tree where we found the container safely hidden. SL at 12.32pm After that excitement we headed out of Tocumwal towards Finley for some more caching fun. #6389 TFTC Blacklegend

26-May-19
missed the turn so continued to the boat ramp sign, followed some 4 wheel drive tracks around the beaches till we found the cache. We enjoyed the great views of the river on our journey. TFTC

A beautiful day down by the river and a quick find. TFTC

17-Oct-18
As we walked to this cache we noticed a bus and a caravan down at the river, the bus from a distance appeared to be sitting in the middle of the river. This one needs a small person to retrieve, hubby who is not overweight but is a big build could not get into this one so it was up to me. SL TFTC

06-Oct-18
Away for a few days caching and trying out some rough camping in a swag and OZREG's newly decked out 4WD ute. With no set plan but taking the opportunity to grab a few finds along the way as we weaved our way down the back tracks, heading down the great Murray River. Enjoyed the drive down the river and taking a few diversions along the way. Interesting to see the different agriculture, crops and landscapes along the way but if it wasn't for the river, it would be a very different story, as it is in the dry areas, further a field. We made some great discoveries, clever hides and generally enjoyed the caches we found, which took us to some interesting places, that we wouldn't probably see if it wasn't for caching. We had a few good laughs along the way.

Loving this area along the river. Stopped off here and made a quick find, despite the previous DNF.

Thanks Blacklegend for placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

Apology for generic log. With approx 70 Caches to log and not recalling details of many, the most important point I must stress is................. THANKS ALL CACHE OWNERS for their efforts, because if not for you, so many wonderful places would not have been encountered to appreciate. Our fantastic time would not have been either.
Happy Feet 1 and I had a wonderful 3 days (Oct 5-7) cache trekking around the Murray Region from Howlong to almost Barmah.
HF1 with her skills, dedication, and helpful retrieving devices made a significant addition to my cache tally.
I felt like a circus act a few times.
Despite us both having a conflicting trait or two, we thoroughly enjoyed each others company and had quite the success we were aiming for.
Even catching out a member not being truthful or honest to himself or others in regards to caching etiquette.
The period of camping certainly helped in defining all the areas of my camping vehicle that needed modifying or improving upon. Having the annex fall upon my companion was not something I was proud of. Pheeew!! No harm done.
Again, thanks to CO's.

2 Sad DNFs and 8Smile finds and 1 Cool attended for a day trip to Echuca area with Cybergran V Cool[^]
We bounced on dirt roads, got into places that Cybergran V didn't think we would, we saw heaps of Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes at a camping area where they were training the dogs Cool
We finally found a multi cache near Echuica that's bugged me for ages Cool[^] and while doing so showed a dog walking muggle what geocaching is all about too Smile
The day ended with a great catch up with Bec & Gemma at the pub tea Big GrinCool

As I am about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up. Sad
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! Cool[^]CoolSmile
Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby SmileBig GrinCool

Found by Mary & David at 1530. Ancient trees, birds everywhere, and the steady flow of the river, made everything right in the world. The neighbours have a great view from their verandah, but happily not of the cache location. A quick find. Our thanks to Blacklegend.

A detour out of Toc took me riverside once more.
I headed in along the track that headed in the general direction of GZ in the geomobile.
I got as far as the top of the levee before deciding that I might just park there and proceed on foot Razz

No way was I going to get the geomobile bogged again, so soon !! Red Face

I wandered off along the levee,
but the levee was not dry [:o]
Just as squishy up here as down below,
after all the rain Big Grin

Which made me wonder how the gypsies camped by the river side below were ever going to get their cars out of there Razz
Obviously not today, so they probably had to walk to where ever they work.

With no obvious inhabitants at home, I wandered into GZ for a quick cache find Big Grin

At first look I didn't spot this one, but after looking for other options came back and had a better look, coming up with the goods at 11:50am. Shadow the geodog had a walk around while I made the find.
Was surprised to see some campers not far away, even at this time of year.

thanks Blacklegend

With grateful thanks to my cousin who negotiated the levee bank and drove me to this spot. On first inspection I was disappointed, but on closer inspection I was rewarded. Thanks so much for placing this one here, it was interesting accessing the area.

Exploring some more of the Murray beaches

#841 The geohounds loved this spot, we parked centrally and walked to both this one and TSR#1. We feared the cache may have disappeared at first glance due to signs of other activity at gz. However a more thorough look and we were able to place our hands on the well concealed cache - TFTC Blacklegend.

Decided a nice hot day was a good time to get these caches which can be a bit difficult in the wet. Only trouble was all the grass seeds that get stuck in your shoes and socks!! Thanks for bringing us to these spots along the mighty Murray!! TFTC

#4702 We decided against one track into this cache as it looked a little like 4WD might need to be engaged & with an "iffy" 4WD vehicle we decided on an alternate route. It ended up having a nice little steep rise that required said 4WD but it behaved for us today Big Grin. A short drive toward GZ and some wading through long grass ensued before Dad had the well concealed cache in hand. Thanks for bringing us here Blacklegend, the river was pretty busy today. Cheers.

17-Aug-13
After some manouvering in the 2wd kluger, we managed to get to within 30m of this one. A flock of corellas in the tree weren't amused with my approach, but soon settled down.
Thanks again Marshy

Found with bogonghazy during my short weekend and his full weeks visit up around here. We did a run to Toc today and netted 56 finds, even with a few hold-ups throughout the day. Thanks to Blacklegend yet again, for another of your finds today. We had a great day caching around Toc, many thanks.

18-Feb-13
We chose to do caching around Tocumwal today.
We found some very interesting sights, the blowhole, old airfield, creeks & of course the mighty Murray .
Some very interesting tracks along the river
We hope to log our 1st Victorian cache today.

How did I miss this last time?

17-Jan-13
Heading home along the Murray and for the first time stayed overnight in Tocumwul. Thought we knew the town well after many short stop overs in the past but today's caches gave us a much better idea of this delightful river town. A bit hard on the car but worth it.

I was staying near Benella over the Christmas/New Year's holiday period and was given a leave pass to go caching for the day. Knowing RebelActs was going to be in the Benella area in the comming days and wanted to cache Wangaratta, I decided instead to head north and drop in on my fellow The Demolition Crew (TDC) team member Blacklegend in Tocumwal. An hour and 30 minutes later I find myself knocking on his door, and we go caching for the day. Cache finds are so easy when the local CO is driving you around. Thanks mate, happy days!

9416 kms travelled in 21 days, one awesome eclipse observed near Mt Carbine in Northern Queensland and 712 cache finds, including a small handle of FTF's.

This was a trip I'd been planning for over 12 months with the main reason being to observe the solar eclipse on the morning of the 14th of November. I had decided to drive to Palm Cove and back, where my penthouse accommodation was located, while the rest of the family flew up and back. I love the drive and the unknown adventures that lay ahead; and I even think the last time I did one this big may have been for the previous eclipse in Australia which occurred over SA.

Apart from the great experiences, awesome scenery, and the characters met, the other reason to drive was to also do some serious caching, with the plan to stop at some power trails along the way including the Fruit Run and A.S. series near Stanthorpe on the way up and the Mid North Coast Wander series, just out of Port Macquarie, on the way back.

I had five days to travel each way with ten days in between spent in Palm Cove holidaying with my family. My route up took me from Melbourne to Tocumwal and up to Glenn Innes, through Toowoomba, Rockhampton and the coast road to Cairns while my route back was a bit more erratic. Heading from Cairns to Townsville then via Charters Towers to Rockhampton. From here it was through the amazing mining region to Roma then across to Dalby down through Stanthorpe (again) to Armidale, Port Macquarie, Wagga Wagga, Tocumwal and then home - phew.

After traveling over 1000kms for the day I was relieved to finally reach Tocumwal where I'd be staying the night at Blacklegends place. I had noticed a few new caches in the area and decided to grab this one before going to BL's place. I had to search around a bit before finally locating the cache and realising I had a *FTF* as well. A sneaky hide and a nice way to arrive. Thanks for the cache BL.

HMMMMMMMM..........went to tree, saw big hole, could NOT find cache.Sad
I'm fairly sure I was at the right tree as there was fresh wheel marks to within 10m of the tree.
There's also some broken glass around the tree.
Thanks anyway BL but it's the second one Ive missed out on today.
