#23138 @1415Day 3 of an 8 day trip: Drive from Canberra to Melbourne, then by air to Flinders Island, Launceston, King Island, and back to Melbourne, then drive back home to Canberra. Today, I was targeting counties, preferring to also find caches with certain attributes (e.g. size) to help with various personal goals. Cache soon found. TFTC.
Cache was found after a short search. Thanks for the fun. Cleaning up Victoria with gridge98. We are on a mission this week. Completing twenty finds in Mexican local government areas is the challenge. Another find with the correct criteria. It is in Victoria and we have not accumalated twenty finds in this local government area.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is Thor's day the seventeenth day of the octavus month of the Roman calendar in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was a bit windy today. It was so windy today. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Read the description and bought the tool up, found the decoy then soon found the real hide. Nicely hidden Travelling around Victoria with Freddo for a week finding caches as we go. With two challenges on our radar we were in full force. All logs signed with our names or F+g98 for the smaller caches. Thanks for the cache
Its night and we took a while to find, left because there were huge spiders, if you dont like spiders dont come here
14/01/2024 1:00:00 PMI drove over this side of Melbourne/ Victoria to pick up some car parts and couldn't leave without visiting at least one cache, so this was chosen, and good choice that was, although my lack of prereading the notes meant that I needed to head back to the car for a TotTThanks ShogunFind recorded using GCDroid and logged using GSAK
I'm out with buhfuhguh today as I chase my 3000 find milestone and clean up some local stuff that's been on my map for a while!I DNFed this cache yearrrrrrrs ago and took forever to actually return and make the find.I made that return visit about two months ago with a friend and armed with a hint, I was able to move past the decoy and find the real thing - very impressive set-up here! However, neither of our fingers was up to the task of retrieving it, and I didn't have my extendable magnet tool in the car for whatever reason, so I made sure it was packed today instead and made a return return visit with the giant. My third time here was, naturally, a lot easier, although it appears it may be even more so due to the camo having ostensibly been removed since my last visit which made the reveal a little more underwhelming on this occasion.Still, the cache is in place and I was able to get to the log on this occasion! The sound execution of such a crafty concept paired with satisfaction of avenging my oldest DNF on an active cache earns this one a favourite point! Thanks to shogun- for this hide!
Date: 7 November 2023 Time: 2:48 pmFind #14272A quite warm Melbourne Cup day saw me heading for Frankston for a friend's catchup and to find some caches in the area. We had moderate success although the heat did seem to have an effect ou our cache/ADLab finding ability. Another stellar hide FP awarded.Massive thanks go to shogun- for placing this one.
Today we found FOUND IT #2 - V2 on our travels. We looked high and we looked low and we looked and we looked. Hmmm, so we read some logs and we read and we read. Nope, that didnt help. We looked in the same spotsagain. We poked and we proddedwe used our cameras to see into places we feared to pokewhich proved to be wise! (See photo!) Anyway long story short, with no spoilers, ahomburg found it and favourite point given! Thanks shogun- for being part of our geocaching fun.
We were lucky when we rocked up that it had just stopped raining and the area was deserted. I’d read through a few of the logs on our way, so was expecting to find the decoy quickly. We found it, but certainly not quickly. This was the indication that we would be here for awhile.
We had our TOTT and systematically searched every possible location to no avail. Steve’s patience had run out and we were just about to call it a day until a last ditch effort was made. Without giving anything away, this is one hell of a devilish hide.
Thank you shogun- for the frustrating, yet very clever cache.

Found the red herring easy enough, but the real cache took a bit longer. Good hide, gets a favorite from us.

Wow what are we going to say about this sneaky and yet equally frustrating cache. We searched and searched, and searching, and no luck. Thought about similar cache locations and came up with no goods. Then bogus cache came up. We widened our search, and despite being farther away we started branching out. Then circle backed. Something g said earlier, and Then the lightbulb moment came and the log showed itself! sneaky cache!
Some after-work caching, exploring the area with RoamingHowie.
Spent way too long searching for this one, inspecting every nook and cranny. Found the decoy quick enough, but it was some time later that RH finally spotted the sneaky hide.
A fav point heading your way.
Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, shogun-

With the weather looking a bit better than yesterday we hatched a plan for a cachernoon down south.
This one took much longer than we expected. Arriving at GZ we began as quick scout of the area which came up with nothing. After checking another spot I soon had the cache in hand… or so I though. Nope a decoy. We read some logs suggesting searches of 30mins plus and the need for a TOTT. I returned to the car to grab said TOTT and we began a more detailed search. I became transfixed on something my TOTT was detecting and spent far too long inspecting it - it was not the cache.
Finally I checked something…. And sure enough there it was. Damn that is sneaky! I’m not sure why I’m rewarding this frustration with a favourite point , but I am!
Thanks shogun- for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

What a great hide! Found the decoy reasonably quick but was head scratching for at least another 20 minutes about where the final location could be. Quick recheck of some previously searched locations and boom, there it was. Thanks so much for this creative and fun hide, definitely a favourite.
Spent a while on this one, gps was flicking around a bit. Map photo at least narrows down the structure, and 15-20 mins of searching and we found the decoy. Another 25 mins of head scratching and geodad had a lightbulb moment. Managed to retrieve ok without a tool. Very clever cache!
Found it , excellent, had us cursing when the fake was found, but success soon after and the real log was signed. Tftc
Wow. Wow. Wow. That's all we can say. Found this on a lovely sunny day out caching in the area. What a lovely park this is! V fortunate no muggles around or it would be impossible to find this. The decoy was found quickly. Real one was a challenge and many false spots were found. Eventually geodad managed to find it by use of the magical magnetic tool. Def fave from us. TFTC
A little caching on a warm afternoon brought me back here in the hopes of signing the log. I had a little nudge from a previous finder so I was confident of a find. When I left home, I did a double take as I knew the hint said a retrieval tool may come in handy. I had a particular tool, that I had used only a couple of times on other shogun caches, so I chucked it in the car and am very glad I did.
Arriving at GZ, a bit of feeling and poking around and I stumbled upon something promising. Turned out to be the decoy. A little more prodding and even my keys were put to use to remove some camouflage. Frustration crept in as that silly emoji kept laughing at me and of course I had left the tool in the car. A quick trip to the car and back and to find out if this thing still works or not. Cache retrieved nicely. Some glittery stars fell out to the ground as I removed the log. All replaced exactly as found.
A very clever, well done hide. Thanks to shogun.

Teaming up with my caching buddy for the first time in a long time due to covid. Found the decoy cache quickly, final cache took a bit longer. This was a very very clever hide. Absolutely deserves a favourite point from me, great cache.
First time out caching for months. As the Covid-19 restrictions and 25km radius eased, I went out today with my caching buddy Jetsons23 following all safe guidelines. The sun was out and a gentle breeze blowing.
This was a fantastic hide. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience here. Seeing the difficulty rating, we did think about how rusty we were after all these months.
Jetsons23 was quick to find the decoy. Then the search began. After 20 mins, I stopped and took a moment to tap into my geo senses. They didn’t fail me and I made the find. A great feeling of achievement.
This one is very worthy and deserving of a favourite point. We were on a high for the rest of the day and couldn’t stop talking about it.
Thank you for the cache here shogun Your cleverness here is outstanding.

Wow! That was cleaver. Found the bogus cache then kept looking for another 30mins. So evil
Ha! Loved it! Found the bogus cache. Kept looking for another 30mins or so before we found the true cache. Sneaky sneaky but very fun and put a big smile on our faces when finally retrieved. Worth the frustration Found with @AlizaSkulls
I'm sure I've found this before. Haha. Make sure you find the actual logbook
This was my 3rd DNF for the day. I still don't know what this place is... I looked at the sign, gardens or something. Would certainly have been a very pleasant place to take a bit of lunch, but some tradesman were doing some work right inside the entrance and making a bit of noise. I went in anyway and hung around the rotunda a while searching for 15 mins. Fairly deserted for such a nice day. A few things caught my interest but I was unable to find the apparent decoy or the cache itself. I guess I'm not very good at this game. Thanks shogun, I will return.
Heading back after an appointment this one looked a good D rating so we headed in. No muggles about probably due to the heat so we could have a good search. The decoy as others have mentioned was soon found. Grrr so we continued on looking here and there. I want say too much more but it’s an excellent hide and worthy of a Favourite Point. Very sneaky.
We managed to extract the log by hand only (just) and complete the signing duties.

We spent a few minutes here but couldn't make the find. Couldn't even find a possible location for the cache! Will need to return again when we have more time to work our way though the area.
After searching for an hr on a cool winter Sunday morning found a bogus cache 1/2 hr later we were about to log a DNF but had one last look SUCCESS .talk about using the right tool for the right job well done shogun. SL TFTC
It's been about three years since we last attempted this cache and now, with an extendable magnetic tool thing in our possession, we felt a little more confident going into this one.
Unfortunately, with the light dying out and no result showing itself, we headed out, ready to attempt this again in another three years or so

We had a nice walk through the garden and quickly found GZ although the GPS went crazy right as we got there. Spent a bit of time searching around and around, high and low, in nooks and crannies, but ultimately we weren't up to the task and came away empty handed.
That being said we had a really nice look at the plants in the garden, and found a playground with some cool kids' rock climbing equipment so we spent a bit of time letting the kids play and climb around the place
It's a really cool spot, and we had a great time so thanks for the cache!

Headed down south a little today to grab some high favourite caches for the Cache Carnival souvenir challenge. Three caches and hopefully 100 points
Very sneaky hide, found the decoy but I just couldn't come up with the goods so I resorted to a PAF who had himself resorted to a PAF when he had a similar problem.
A favourite from me
**Thanks for placing this cache shogun-**

Find # 5555 i prefer yhat type of milestone... Had a few minutes to spare before going to visit mum in rehab. Well it took more then a few minutes but that's life. Found the bogus cache quite quickly, then the hunt began, I looked here I looked there I poked I prodded with the tott, no joy so I pushed the PAF option and soon had a friendly shove, oh there I looked there, anyhow the log is signed let's hope mum understands. Tftc. A fav
Nice easy find today as area was totally deserted. Had read a number of past logs so I had a fair idea of what i was looking for. Thankfully I started in just the right spot. TNLNSL. TFTC. KKams
We haven’t been out for a while, and either we have lost our touch or walked straight in to a hard one. No muggles around, and all a long search turn up with was a bogus cache (very funny). We will return!
After finding process of elimination I was off to grab another few geocaches before heading to my university clubs casino night tonight.
This was the 2nd find of the day and a painfully slow one at that after finding the decoy cache i then proceeded to struggle for a good 30 minutes before conceedong and calling a paf. With their guidance the cache was soon found. What can I say other than a very very clever and tricky find. Thanks for the cache and the lovely detour

We’ve been meaning to pick this cache up for a very looong time. Haven’t quite finished the found it series, but we’re ticking them slowly off the list.
Checking every imaginable place we found the bogus cache- and then continued our search until we came across the actual cache.
So so tricky and such a pleasure to find. Thank you shogun!

Had a search about but even at 5.30pm it was too dark to see anything. So I returned to the car to grab my torch. The decoy was found in the first place I looked and after another search around the real cache was located.
Your caches used to be too tricky for me but I think I'm getting better.

Wow what a lovely park. A quick stroll to gz. Not long till i found the bogus cache then luckily found the real cache. Thanks for bringing me here.
On a caching afternoon with drewbert81. This one had us going for a while, checking all kinds of places. Up down left right, even reading what we thought were clues but actually instruction on how to light a BBQ lol
Eventually drewbert81 figured out this cunning hide. TFTC this definitely has earned a favourite in our eyes. Well done!

Out caching with toeti81 and all I can say is wow, what a cache. My second attempt at this one and after close to an hour searching and avoiding muggles I had a light bulb go off and it dawned on me where it was. Tool would have been useful however was able to retrieve the hide. TFTC
Reasonably fresh off my last shogun hide and finding myself in the area I decided to have another go at this cache. I'd been here once before but what with a number of mums and bubs picnicking nearby I don't feel comfortable to launch a full search.
Today was a different story. Not only were there no muggles about I just slowed down the search and went about it methodically whilst thinking about the T rating, the cache description and the hint.
After examining this and that I started in on something else, found the dummy cache and then had a thought. Sure enough the hunch proved true and a moment later I was signing the cache.
Yes, I think this cache deserves a favourite point for the camo effort here. There were so many other ways the cache could've been hidden and which would've been used by most. Instead some inspired creativity was applied with an excellent hide as a result.

The more I think about this cache, the more I admire evil genius that awaits the unsuspecting hunter in this beautiful location.

No luck for me today. Did a few things not required for a t1.5 but found nothing.
Noted that the gates were open so we came for a "shogun" cache hunt. We knew this would challenge us but after a considerable amount of time climbing and crawling and poking and pulling, we were close to giving up. Then found the decoy. Damn you, shogun. At least the decoy spurned us on to try harder.
And then lo and behold there it was. TFTC shogun.

Dropped by after the nearby CITO. Had a lengthy search.
Found the red herring, but no cache.
Too good this time, shogun-
Thanks for the challenge

Out with an awesome team of fellow cachers doing some night caching in the area. Someone suggested we find this one. On arriving to the park we found the gate to be locked. So one by one we hiked over the gate and headed off in search of the cache. With all eyes and hands on deck it didn't take long before the cache was in hand. Well hidden. TFTC
Out with jascat, Mazza-G, geoturtle, Papillon4506 and 4bait,
We passed by this cache and grabbed it, but see, we are the cachers that never actually read the description, so we didn't know that a large gate had to be jumped, I went first and then everyone else after, a nice easy one too
Thanks shogun for another smart cache TFTC

Found with Geoturtle37, Jascat, MazzaG, 4bait and Mark9375. Jascat organised a group outing for a few night caches and we picked up this one along the way. We we well outside opening hours when we arrived to try for this one, but a minor act of wilful civil disobedience soon found us inside the park and on the hunt. Many hands make light work and 4bait soon found the hide, but it took a little longer to retrieve the cache from its sneaky hide. One of our crew had a bit of trouble navigating the barrier to leaving the park, but with lots of coaxing and a little assistance they got over eventually. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
Out for another night cache fix with Papi4506, mazza-g, 4bait and mark9375 and we decided to pick this one up before heading home. Forgot to take notice of the access hours for this cache. A padlock on the gate wasn't going to stop us. One by one we scaled the gate. 4bait made quick work of locating the cache. A small technical difficulty with one part of the cache not being placed back in the right way meant it took us a little longer to access the cache fully. A very clever hiding spot. TFTC
Out this evening to grab a couple of night caches with Jascat, MazzaG, 4bait and Mark9375. It was suggested that we have a look for this as it wasn't far away. Another clever Shogun hide. Thanks for the cache.
out and about with a lovely group of people doing some night caches and this was close by being night time the oark gate was closed so we had to sneak in we found it easy but it was incorrectly put back last time which made access a litle more difficult but we got there tftc
Bloody hell!!! Took me 4 goes and a paf but have finally found it and what do u know all my pens are missing. Tried to use a lip pencil to sign but it went bad real quick.. so there is just a red smudge! I will come back and sign properly when i find my pens. You my friend are one sneaky mofo!
Find #3312
More than a year since I had been here last to look for this one. I clearly had been scared off by my last experience as it is really not too far away for a lunchtime excursion from my work. I grabbed a sandwich along the way and arrived here in a determined mood. I started a fairly methodical search, concentrating on detail in one particular area where I was convinced the cache was only to find nothing in the end. Only after reconsidering, I had a light bulb moment and then after a little work I finally had my hands on this little beauty. Took nothing, left nothing, singed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache shogun. Another neat construction and camouflage that earns a favourite point from me.

Second time visiting this cache after being able to only find the dummy cache the first time.
After thinking about it for some time, something clicked in my mind and I had another idea. Pleased to say that my idea was right, but I had brought the wrong tool, and took a few minutes to extract the first part, only to learn that getting the cache was going to take just as long. Using a native tool from the area, was able to get to the log, which was when I found that I had forgotten my pen. Back to the car and all returned safely.
Thanks for the adventure Shogun, and certainly deserves another favorite point

Good one! It did take us quite a while before we found it. Found in the company of quiet1_au and GJMMelb. TFTC
Found with Lochb and Quiet1_au. We knew right from the start this was going to be interesting. We walked around and around this area before coming back to where we started. We found the wasp nest but no problem with this today. Starting over we looked carefully. I had an idea of the type of hide and this turned out eventually t be correct. However, before finding the cache there were some surprises along the way. Needed the tool we brought. Thanks shogun
GJMMelb
GJMMelb
Well this wasn't the cache I thought it might have been (although not far from that one), instead lochb, G' of GJMMelb and I found ourselves in a park I had been meaning to visit for many years (although I still didn't really achieve that goal - there was caching to be done!) After searching for some time and finding what turned out to be a live wasp (not camouflage!) Hmm - an EZI-AZ this ain't!... More searching, more reading (some luckily done in the car so lochb had come prepared with her caching tools - I had left mine behind) but that gave a few ideas about what we were looking for. After finding another non-cache - just a nifty hide - G' came upon the decoy and after some more searching lochb uncovered the cache proper. Wow - both a good bit of camouflage and evil at the same time - I'll have to give this a favourite point even though I ultimately failed to contribute much to this group smiley - just happy to have FOUND IT after several minutes searching.
Syringe has been removed and safely dealt with.
Nesting wasps are nowhere to be seen - stayed on site for 30 mins without spotting any. Nevertheless I will be reporting the incident to caretakers first thing Monday morning.

Upon receiving email alert - I decided to check in on hide. Was NOT able to find any threat of (wasp) nest nor did I find any threat of discarded syringes within a 20 meter radius of GZ.
All good to go.

The sharps are in their wrapper, wedged behind the first pole on the left hand side bench seat.
The nesting wasp was in a hole on the wall on the right side corner of the building.
Happy to point them both out to you when the kids aren't with me Shogun!

Out with the Monkey King, DaisuObin and NaokObin and stopped here for the cache and to look around this lovely garden during spring.
Stopped here to look at the garden, which I haven't seen during Spring before. There ares some very lovely blossom trees in flower at the moment, so it was a lovely spot to re-visit.
My Funassyi travel bug also visited the cache.

My deepest and sincerest apologies for the absolutely woeful logging time for this cache. I currently have a backlog of 460 found it logs from the last three years. Yikes! Obviously, many of these will be difficult to remember and with such a big backlog I simply have to do a default log (other than a few special favourites along the way). I am writing this on the 18th of May 2019, when this log is for 25/08/2016 Thanks to all of the owners and sorry for the pitiful log!
Unfortunately a DNF today. Feels like we searched EVERYWHERE! We found the bogus cache first (what a joker that shogun- is) but the real one was nowhere to be found. Found a hole where the cache could've been so CO may want to check it's still there (maybe). So close yet so far. ~Brainiac03
Happy to report the hide is safe & sound.
Thx to all finders for maintaining the hide

Another tricky shogun cache (sigh). I hope I have enough time left in the day to finish this one..... Headed to GZ where I commenced looking. Backwards and forewards I went, up and down to no avail. After some time, I was handed an instrument, what am I to do with this I wondered. So recommenced looking and then as a last resort I revisited a spot. There it is, sneaky little blighter. I am going to run out of fav points again I can see.
Thanks for the experience Shogun.

Just passing thought we'd call in. Well I wanted to call in and JSando wanted to keep driving ... I WIN lol. He's a very happy boy now. What a great hide. Love the location and the 'camo'. A fave point from me.
Found with tassie expat. Dastardly, that's all I can say. Very interesting and the decoy was puzzling in its sneakiness. Well done. Tftc
Out with frmen1 for a few hours. Went round and round and round. frmen1 found the decoy...drat. Went round and round and round. Went up and along, up and along. frmen1 shrugged his shoulders and started to walk away when I said...'hey, we haven't looked there'. And there is was! A fav pt for construction. TFTC and making us earn the find.
Needed a couple of quick finds at lunchtime so I should have know better than to tackle this tricky one. Looked for a while, found the bogus cache, but no luck with the real thing. Think it might be time to call in some help on this one.
With ceebee2013. We arrived an hour early for a Specialist appointment nearby so this cache filled in some of the time. TFT (tricky) C.
10/02/2016 - 9.55am - No. 558 - 1st for the day - with dgfb33. I had sussed out what caches were available for his trip to see specialist & we were happy this cache was only 100m from where we needed to be. We arrived early so had time to find this one in it's tricky, tricky location before his appointment. Surprisingly no muggles interrupted our hunt. I think I only saw one muggle the whole time I was there. dgfb headed off to the appt after signing & re-hiding was done & I wandered & kept may camera very busy at the location, what a chore [^]. Thanks for bringing us here & thanks for the cache. [^]
Came back with a magnetic tool for our second attempt. After reading the logs the hidden location was quickly revealed. TFTC

While we were on this side the bay for the night with a family wedding on, we came past this location with lunch in hand to enjoy the park. It was such a nice location and after reading the notes we were unsure if we firstly would find this one but also be able to get into the garden. There was a fence up but it was open so we wandered in and had the place to ourselves. The first location we looked we found a stash of bedding and a cd player, guessing someone had made this place home. With the GPSr swirled to another spot, we then looked again. We searched quite a few locations before thinking that just maybe. A cache tried to trick us but we were on to this one. A clever idea and even though I had cut my finger nails, they were still able to help me with this one. Signed and returned as found.
[blue]Thanks for this trad cache, shogun. A favourite from me [^]
Log and container in good condition.
