A slight detour up here to grab this cache while driving past today. Some nice places along here, maybe I should take up playing golf so I can join up..... a nice quick find here, TFTC
I went for an afternoon drive to find a few more caches in and around Kaikoura. Nothing cheap looking about the residences around here. Cache found in the first place I checked. TFTC, Biggles.
We were staying with family not too far from here and decided to clear out a few of the nearby caches. This one was on our list for today. Cheers and TFTC.Gday there bumandworker, we were in this area today and found your cache Cheap Shot (Marlborough) GC41ZMQ. Our name was added to the log book at 6:55am on 2 January 2024. A huge thanks to you for placing this cache here for us (and others) to find!We took up Geocaching on 3 March 2013 and this cache brings our total find count to - 14400.
I had a look last night at a map of caches I have yet to sign off on the road north of Kaikoura. These caches don't have a big enough park for my cachemobile and snail shell so I just came up in my cachemobile. From my research I know that some maybe missing or hard to find.
I replaced the sodden logsheet with a new waterproof paper one. Loved the how the house number is written at the the end of the street.. The final cache for the day. Score Yellow 6/ Blue 3. Not too bad.
Cheers for the cache, bumandworker..

Have now moved to Donegal house to camp a few nights. Went for a drive this afternoon to find a few more caches. Big new area in here didn't even realise it was here. Thanks for the cache bumandworker.
Out on the bike cycling the Kaikoura Cycle Trail. After a DNF at the last cache site it was great to have an easy find. Log was wet and mushy. Replace log and plastic bag. Should hold for a bit.

Biking the Kaikoura trail today and grabbing a few caches on the ride. Weather looked reasonable this morning and we thought we could manage 45k before rain started. Good views but some clouds up high blocked full views of the Southern Alps.
Quick find here. Thanks for the cache B&W

Beautiful day to join all the bike riders doing the Kowhai Cycle Trail. Log damp but OK to write in. TFTC
Found with Kiwimykl while caching in Kaikoura, refer to his log for details.

Found with NZDi. We had a long weekend booked for last weekend, but Mrs Kiwimykl (aka NZDi) didn't feel that flash so we postponed it until this weekend. So Friday morning we packed the caravan (including MTBs) and headed south arriving at the campground about 10.45am. After spending yesterday doing the Kawhai Cycle Trail, a few caches south of town and a few around town, todays effort is to the Mt Fyffe Forest Walk and then drive around the area to see how many roadside park and grabs we can get.
Over the two days caching we manage to find 44 caches with only two DNFs, although we did manage to avenge three DNFs from a previous visit. Of the 44 finds, bumandworker was responsible for hiding 28 of them. Our logs were generally dated and signed with Kiwimykl and NZDi or KM + ND, or variations there of.
We spent most of this morning in town trying to find the images for the Kaikoura Town Walk puzzle cache with a negative result. More about that later. That took a big bite out of our caching day for no result, so we decided to cut our loses and head to the Mt Fyffe Forest Walk. Having finished that we then started to pick off a few park and grabs around the district. This was the first of them and was a QEF PnG. I'm glad we decided not to go for the Golf or Tennis? option as now that I'm logging our finds, I see that one has multiple DNFs.

Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on wet or plastic logs)
*We soon had another good cache located, now onto the next one!*
Thanks again bumandworker - plenty of your good caches found today.

A quick find, and a good excuse for a break while spending several hours riding the Kaikoura Cycle Trail
Day 2 of StreetWalkerNZ and my 3 day weekend in Kaikoura, and the plan today was to find some drive bys en route to the Mt Fyffe bush walk, then find some caches on the Kowhai cycle trail, until the forecasted rain started falling or until we were ready to call it quits, whatever happened first.
We had never been to the golf course before and it almost seemed as though we were on private property. The cache was a quick find and surprised to see there are no online logs since 2018. TFTC.

#18070. A quick find here. Then we shot off to look for the next one. TFTC.
I have taken my son and his girlfriend to Kaikoura for a few days. Their mission is My Fyffe. My mission is geocaching a bit of a walk but nothing as strenuous as My Fyffe.
They made it to the top.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au

The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are on a 4 day adventure of Kaikoura. Its Sunday and we are in and around Kaikoura today.
We have just finished a walk in the bush for Tennis or Golf. Its getting dark now but just enough light for this quick P&G before returning to Zara for the night. Cheers

Out for a drive to find some more caches. Great way to spend some time on holiday. TFTC
Day 2 of this Kaikoura Geocache Raid. Nice quick P&G. Just managed to sign and replace the cache before being spotted by the Golf Club Manager (?) pulling out from his partly-built house in his Rolls Royce (I'm not kidding!) golf cart.
I turned up the wrong road on my way to get this cache, so it ended up being a longer journey than expected to get the cache, but it was a pleasant trip. I felt a bit conspicuous when I got to GZ, but I don't think anyone saw me. Tftc.
Driving the alternate way home and finally stopped to do this one! Fab view on a sunny day!TFTC
Wow!!! Looked like Kaikoura's answer to ChCh's Clearwater!!! Would've loved to try out the course. Thanks. Cache quite wet.
After an impromptu night stay in Kaikoura, I spent today finding as many caches as I could and doing a bit of exploring, before continuing on to Christchurch. Quick find. Very flash and quite remote place... a bit of money spent around here! TFTC (3058)
Wow - this area is going to take off in a few years with the amount of area for development. Great views back towards the township too (or at least at present). If only I had the money to buy some of the land for my "country estate" - and dreams are free they say.
A good days outing although we didn't find quite as many as we had hoped for. TFTC
Found on the way to visit the fur seals further up the coast. Nice spot, may retire here!!!
Found it quickly. The Log Book was slightly Dampish,so as we weren't in any hurry we dried it out on the hot Bonnet of the Prado, and dried the moisture out of the Container and Bag,while enjoying the great view up here.TFTH
The original plan for this Waitangi Day was to climb up Mount Patriarch after a tramping and biking combo. The talk for most of the week had been around the assumption that Friday was that, then I was going to head down the line to Kaikoura on the Saturday and come back on the Sunday.
The best laid plans of mice and men and all that.
Dry conditions and this weeks fires along North Bank Road have led to it being closed to traffic for the next few days so new plans must be made. Couldn't really sit around doing nothing with a day off and no plan could I?
Spoke to G H 6 7 1 0 and hew was keen for a day trip down the line to Kaikoura as long as we got back today ready for wedding anniversary tomorrow, no worries. I plugged in 76 caches into the G P S ; 5 from four caches and 71 from b&w, seriously. I enjoy finding caches at the end of the day and all the ones we found today were well maintained; one was even duplicated, more on that later.
The weather was a cool, strong Southerly breeze after rain in the night cooled things down a little and snow appeared atop the higher Nelson ranges and the Kaikoura Ranges too, looked good though.

On from Hapuku rocks and this was a Q E F in this nice looking (expensive) sub division

We had planned a caching trip to Mt Patriach today, but with a large fire up the Onamalutu and the road closed, plans had to change. Capperz and I decided to head to Kaikoura and clear up some areas just off the main road that he hadn't managed to get to yet. We had some light rain overnight, and the day dawned calm and cold helping those getting the fire under control. There was also a light dusting of snow on the tops of nearby hills, from around 1400m up. We headed south, caching along the way and filling up the map with yellow smiles. There was a strong southerly blowing along the coast, with rough seas and cooler temperature. Many miles covered, many caches found and a very good day out exploring. Sure looks like some flash property and a nicely maintained golf course here. Cache was quickly located and I signed it up while Capperz turned around.

A spot of caching with bugzptr and aka_SJ on a lovely Christmas day while enjoying the lovely weather
[green] An awesome weekend caching to and fro Kaikoura, on a strangely empty State Highway 1. But two things marred it - one: I could only do a two day weekend, despite that this is a three day weekend - I suddenly got dumped with a ton of homework and I better do some study. And two: Someone smashed a side window on the car and stole the sleeping bag. So this weekend is going to be a lot more expensive than I had bargained for . Still... 120 caches! That will be a weekend record for me. And just about every cache between Blenheim and Kaikoura converted to yellow smilies. Lots of walking, sunburn, dust. Big smiley on my face even if not in my pocket! Took me all day to get to Kaikoura from Blenheim yesterday, on my way back today.
had to wait for the golfers to finish their hole, as they were facing straight towards me. Then for some reason I was looking at all the knots in the fence. Then I realised it was a B&W cache and changed tactics.

What seemed like a long drive in the dark from the main road. A quick find at GZ but it was very windy.
We had intended to carry on through the back roads via more caches but decided to leave it at that.
Thanks for the cache [purple]Our cache find: #2885[/purple] | [green]Cache of the Day: 56/57[/green] | [blue]Cache of our trip: 130/224[/blue]

6021. We had to go to Blenheim as guest speakers at a fundraising dinner on Saturday evening so left at lunchtime on Thursday so we could fit in some geocaching. Stayed overnight in Kaikoura. This was our first find for Friday. A nice and easy one. Not a cheap place to live at all! Thanks for the cache. Rodney and Iris.
13804... Some big sections here... certainly not a place fore the cheap shots, nice veiws. TFTC.
Getting to gz is sometimes more fun than it needs to be. For us it involved driving the family low slung car across a dry river bed, through loose gravel and down a pretty rough farm track. Yes we approached from completely the wrong direction. Found the easy way out. A few more grey hairs were the only permanent damage. Nice area.
Thanks bumandworker for the cache.

Funny to see some cows still on lot 18... A quick find after having some trouble to locate the way to the cache coming from Mount Fyffe Road. But got there in the end and retrieved the cache before the next muggles arrived. TFTC
Was heading to Hapuka today and took the turn 1 road to early so found ourselves near here. Quick grab and then back on track for Hapuka. Very flash area. TFTC
A quick find on my way to Kaikoura this evening. Definitely great views! Signed log, TFTC
Another great day clearing out some caches around Kaikoura. No gollers today. A quick find. Thanks for the hide.
Electric fence was on so was hesitant about retrieving this one! Managed to extract it gingerly TFTC
A quick easy find in this new, but so far sparsely occupied, subdivision. We have to comment that the views from the Ocean Ridge subdivision were far superior to those from here. TFTC
Saw a new lot of b&w caches pop up a couple of weeks ago and couldnt believe they were still this morning when I left Christchurch. The question was would the log book be as empty as the web page. The answer was Yes . 1st FTF for the day TFTC
