Just about to leave site when i gave the area a final sweep and what do you know. The hint is well off. Tftc.
An absolutely magnificent day for caching. Perfect weather. Good company (BBIC) - Bruzie, BFG, Infoferret and CrystalFairy. Todays objective to grab a few caches related to the On your marks Event and then a casual lunch and some easy caches up north. What a lovely spot and walk here. When we got to GZ we started searching and after trying all the logical spots we tried the tree that had fallen over and found the cache very quickly after that. Emptied the water from the container, logged the cache and headed back. Thanks for showing us this lovely spot. T4TC
Travelling with InfoFerret and CrystalFairy in barefootguru's wattmobile up to Levin for TwigNZ's Get Set Go event and picking up some new (and possibly some not so new) caches on the way and back.Took a bit of hunting around before CrystalFairy got his hands on it.All good here, and thank you to paul303 for the placement of your Traditional Cache.Find #7145 at 29 September 2024 1:54pm
Team arefootguru, ruzie, nfoferret, and rystalFairy are on a companionable day trip to On your marks, get set, GO 6 in the Wattmobile.A nice forest to wander through. We found the cache 8 m away from GZ, not per hint, after a few minutes searching
What a wonderful cycle from Foxton to Foxton Beach. A lovely ride through the forest and a quick hunt and the cache was in our hands. TFTC 8
Headed out this way for some planning for future caches for my commutation series. this was on our way and was a quick detour.Host has had a fall but cache is still in good condition. It may need to be moved.I wrote in the log and placed the cache back as found. TFTCSL, Thanks paul303 for this Traditional cache. paul303 , !Logged on 1 October 2023 at 4:53PM#732th find
Continuing our walk on this beautiful autumn day- well there was no wind- we wandered through this forest until we got to said rise. With 6 eyes looking we soon had the cache in hand. Tftc.
I was spending the first part of this weekend camping at Foxton beach with friends, and although most of my time was already accounted for I did manage to sneak away in the morning to get some decent coffee and find a few of the local caches. This was one of them.
A nice wee walk in the pine trees, and no one about as I wandered to the GPS location and quickly found the cache. As others have said, the lid is cracked however currently the log paper is dry enough to sign.
Thanks to paul303 for placing and maintaining this cache.
I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.

We found it, and somebody has just left it out on the ground so we put it on a log.
Spending the long weekend around Foxton Beach, so a good excuse to pick up a few nearby caches.

I didn’t even know this place existed until trying to find the cache! Thanks for some backyard discovery.
What an awesome walk !
Sad to find all swaps there not Xmas themed but still some cool items regardless

GAR dropped me off in Foxton today where I converted most of the caches in town into smiles for our caching map and then decided to walk to Foxton Beach to continue the Adventure Lab and see if I couldn't find some of the caches here. I walked through the trees from Palmer Road to the main road to the township (road seems to change names somewhere around where I came out). Nice walk. Cache wasn't found in the first place I looked and even tried looking in other spots in case the directions could be taken in a slightly different way only to find I had walked past the actual hide. Eventually located it though and autographed and replaced. Thanks for bringin me here Paul303.
Talla64 and I had a lovely walk through the pine trees to the cache. This is another area we have never been before and would not have found it if it were not for geocaching. Thanks for bringing us here paul303. The cache was a quick find.
Up here from Kapiti with Flowerydaze on a caching expedition. Lovely walk through the pine plantation, very nice TFTC paul303 all safe and dry here.
Had a few days off work so headed down to Foxton then Foxton each for some caching.
Parked the camper van on the road and got on the bike to collect a few caches near here. Was able to bike through the reserve which was fun. Signed the log once I found the right Christmas tree. Thanks for the smiley.

4.30pm. Walked along from where we are staying for the weekend and then a pleasant stroll in the trees. Quick find with accurate coords.
Thank you. David and Noeline.
Thank you. David and Noeline.
Walked through to this one. Really nice track, would be good on a bike too. TFTC
We’re spending the weekend in the Foxton area in our recently acquired motorhome. Located a few caches today, mostly in or near Foxton Beach. Detoured along the nearby road to pick up a couple of caches. Walked in with the geohound to go after this one. Found it after a reasonably short search. #3516. TFTC.
Thanks for this cache, another walking track discovered. Cache signed and replaced as found
First time here. Nice spot. Trees made GPS on phone bounce around a bit. But a quick find. Tftc
Enjoying a beautiful morning at Foxton Beach, mountain biking and observing the bird life at the estuary - lots of spoonbills here today. Biked to this one, it is a delightful connecting path to walk or bike, thanks for bringing me here paul303, and nice to find another of your caches. My gps pointed to the wrong side of the path and I searched several Christmas trees before finding it on the other side. By now my GPS agreed with the location! Good to find a generous sized container too.
Nice flat grass cycle track. A good alternative between Foxton and the beach. The cache is in good condition.
Actually found this cache on an mtb ride early in the year but fate intervened and I had no opportunity to log it. Came back today to try and confirm the date, but the logsheet from March 2019 onward is missing, so have to log as a new find.
Was in Foxton this morning and made a quick detour to grab a few caches before I went home. Quick and easy find.

I have set myself a goal to get the requirements for the mystery cache The well-rounded cacher challenge (Manawatu) This requires me to get 25 badges 5 of which need to be gemstone badges. So each time I go out caching weather it is by myself or with fellow cacher I will try to get a least one cache that will get me closer to my goal
Out today grabbing some caches with the aim of getting enough caches to get the World Turtle souvenir and also getting some caches that will help with my main goal
Thanks for the Cache

Took a little while in all the undergrowth. Nice walk with lots of Christmas trees.
Needing 17 more caches to get to 250 for March for qualifying for a cache in Wairarapa we headed to Foxton where we had approximately exactly that number available. The weather was lovely and so perfect for a geocaching jaunt.
Seeing we were within a few hundred metres of this at another cache and it was such a lovely hot day we walked to this. Took us a few Xmas trees before we found the one we really wanted. Should have paid more attention to the mention of a peanut butter jar lol! Lovely walk. All good. TFTC

My caching partner-in-crime (my son) spent the night at Waitarere last, celebrating a friends birthday. So seeing as I had to pick him up from there, I arranged with him for us to spend some time at Foxton Beach chasing the last few Caches that we ran out of time to get back in October when we were last up here.
We parked up as suggested by the CO, and then took an easy stroll through the woods. The coords took us straight to GZ, where I was initially attracted towards a fallen Xmas tree where I thought I would have placed the cache had I been the CO. But I soon turned my attention to the living specimens, and the Hint helped identify the right one quickly.
A quick sign of the log as "T & T" on behalf of myself and ThatWeirdGuy04, and then the cache was replaced exactly as found.
Thanks for bringing us out to this spot which we would probably never have come to if it wasn't for Geocaching and the CO's placing caches. Thanks for all your efforts.

Found today with TwigNZ. Signed the log as T&T on behalf of both of us, then it was a quick re-hide and onto Foxton Beach to clear up the last remaining Caches we hadn't yet got from there. Thanks for the cache.
Searched a few Xmas trees before I found the right one, thanks for showing me these walkways. I came in from Palmer Rd.
Even though the path had been mowed, we did get wet feet walking here. The fantails showed us the way. TFTC
I was driving through Foxton today and had a bit of time spare to get a cache and then continue on my way back to work. We came to do this cache one other time but time was against us and the weather wasn't so pleasant. Pulled up at the car park and off I started walking I met up with a lovely lady and her dog, she stopped for a rest right where I needed to start looking for the cache. Talked about a builder who maintains the track and lives at one end of the track and works at the other end, but he decided to maintain the track for his mother so she could go for walks in this stunning area. He also placed a seat for her to have a rest. What a lovely story. Then she went on her merry way and then it was hunt for cache time. It was a quick find thanks to the previous log. Signed the log and placed it back where I found it. Thank you for bringing me to this area, its lovely and the track is very well maintained for all to enjoy.
TFTC. An epic caching day in the company of GSEL - 50+ caches each Event, CITO,and finally collecting a kitten in Otaki! Decided to walk the 474m car to cache for the DGSc Distance challenge for this one, through a very pleasant area. GZ has suffered from a felled tree, but the cache is accessible - just read the other logs for guidance. About the 4th tree I checked had the prize.
#3494. Infoferret offered me a ride up to Levin today to attend the two events being held there. Both of us are working on the DGSC challenge and are doing the bulk find elective. So we decided to make the most of the late summer day and attempt to pick up 50+ additional caches each for the challenge. The problem was that after comparing maps, it seemed that a lot of caches I had done were needed by IF and vice versa. So meant we would probably need to visit at least 70 caches today as well as picking up a kitten to take back to Wellington at 8pm. We parked at the listed parking coordinates and made our way down the track to the GZ. A few pines have been felled in this area which made searching a bit confusing. But IF widened the search after reading a few previous logs and soon found the cache nicely tucked away behind a standing tree. Added a fresh logsheet and replaced the cache as found. Will add this one to distance to finds elective with a 474m walk from the car.
We could not find this today not easy climbing around over fallen trees and branches
Log is damp and falling apart it needs to be replaced, sorry I didn't have any spare log books on me
Nice walk on a summer evening lovely well mowed path and a seat that looks onto the tree
There has been some trimming of the pine forrest recently so the gz is littered with fallen trees and branches best to access it from the left hand side as you sit on the seat
Log book is damp and falling to pieces TFTC 179

We were wondering if we would be able to find this after reading previous logs, but we got there! Cache was about 3m further from the track than our gps told us. tftc
We found "Raupo Pond" earlier in the day and had driven around to find the Palmer Road access entry, but failed to locate it. We continued on to smiley some other local caches with the intention of returning to this one.
After discussions with DannyDangerously over lunch, he suggested trying again from the "Raupo Pond" end.
We parked up and set off along the track and were almost at GZ when Mr DD appeared behind us.
There was a wooden seat on the path where my GPSr said 2m, but there was no cache to be found on it.
He confirmed that this was not the host (at least not from when he found it) but he was concerned that the recent thinning in the plantation may have included the host.
Fortunately this proved not to be the case, although all-bar-one of the host's neighbours have indeed been reduced to firewood.
Direct access to the host has been blocked by felled trees (a short cross-country expedition is currently required), and even retrieving the cache required diving into a pile of branches that have fallen against the host.
I'm pleased to have ticked this one off. Given the current state of GZ, I doubt I would have located the cache without help from a previous finder. Hopefully the felled trees get removed to reinstate direct access to GZ (there's a lot of valuable firewood there!) and not just left to rot on the ground.

Glad we chose the Beach Road end to start as I think we would have struggled to find our way in from the other side. Once we had found the easily located cache we carried on down the track to see where we would end up. TFTC
Looked at getting this one but with the aim of 150+ caches in the day we couldn't bring ourselves to walk in here. Seemed like a nice area though.
Down this way caching with the LALNZ Team - Parked up at the track end and went down the well formed mown track. Wandered for a wee way and figured we were close when we spotted a seat, then a rise off to the left. Up the rise and the cache was quickly located - TNLNSL.
This was our last cache for the day and clocked up 1,101 finds for me and 140 for LALNZ so that was good otcome for the day. Thanks for the placement paul303.

Thanks for bringing us deeper into this forest park, we really enjoyed the walk amongst the flowering lupins
Cache was quickly located. I left a baby in a pram and Batman.

I tried to attempt this one some time ago. From the northern approached but couldn't find my way in or a track. So this time I approached it from the southern end and walk in the 450m. This proved to be a very sane idea and it was quickly found thanks to good hint, signed and replaced with no muggle coming along the track. I wonder why the other end of the track is so' hidden' and not sign posted! Thanks for the cache and another smiley face.
Parked up and started the adventure with Hyjynx following behind me.
Oooooo no path as such ! we got all jungle mode, before stumbling across a nicely kept pathway, well I suppose we should use it
Had a pleasant walk towards GZ, and a bit of a poke around once there, cache was soon in hand, and a [8] was dropped in.
Cheers for the placement paul303

A mission was needed to complete one of the last few licence challenges on Rangitoto Island, so a passing comment to C&D at an event and this mission was soon planned. We nearly achieved what we set out to accomplish, with only 1 more cache to find to complete the challenge but that was due to miss-reading the fine print on the challenge page.
So with the mission lasting 48 hours we amassed a great set of numbers, 317 caches found, just over 1200km travelled, about 7 hours of sleep, C&D finding his 180th earthcache, completing the KAS powertrail in under 3 hours and finding numerous amazing geocaches. A lot of fun was had along the way, and some great memories were created. A big thanks to everyone for placing all the caches along the way, this mission wouldn't have been as much fun if they weren't there!
Jogged up to GZ and needed a bit of a hunt about before it was located. Walked right past it when I initially got to GZ, but with a systematic search of every hint item I worked out my mistake. Thanks for the hide.

Well another mission down the line in what HKCB and I were expecting to be another large caching weekend where numbers were the target, Sleep was for the weak, OCD=commitment , and petrol was a must. We left home at 6pm and headed straight down here to start what was going to be a long couple of days, so with much planning (compliments of HKCB) and a good supply of nourishing caching supplies in the back.
With a total of 1250 kms (just a short drive) and 5 hours [xx(] of sleep we were definitely going to earn our rest by Sunday evening when we got home. Oh, we even managed to attend an event along the way and meet fellow cachers from the area while in Wanganui.
Well it might just be a new day but we've already covered some miles in the quest for smilies. Sleeping in the car never gets any easier on the body but it does have the added bonus of saving money for more petrol.
This was our fourth in daylight but also our one hundred and tenth for the day not too shabby we think.
Thankfully both HKCB and I enjoy caching through the night (and the day), well we have had plenty of experience of it, especially as we are both working on individual challenges, mine being the DGSc Challenge and includes the Night Caching elective.
So again thank you for the FUN of the hunt

Had a really pleasant walk with the family. We had been to the Foxton Fair and then took them for a swim at the beach. A last summer treat. From memory the log was rather wet, be we managed to sign carefully. TFTC.
Gorgeous day for a school holiday day out geo-ing with kids. Nice little find, cache in good nick. TFTC
