We were supposed to do a whale watching trip today, but it got cancelled as the whales were outside the area. Instead we set off to find a few caches. A quick park and grab on our way north to Kaikoura. TFTC
On the way south for a birthday celebration. A quick detour off the main road for this. Added a piece of waterproof paper.
Today I'm back on the road, driving from Dunsandel to Blenheim to pick up some recently acquired musical gear. Finding a few caches along the way. An interesting feature. I don't think I've seen that style before either. Cache found but logbook to wet to sign. TFTC, Biggles.
#12,462. After a fun week in Christchurch doing a lot of caching it was time today to drive north to Picton to catch the 6pm ferry. I decided to stop first at Cheviot for some lunch then do a few along the road from there to Kaikoura. Parked nearby and soon located the cache. Log was damp but still able to sign. Thanks b&w for the cache. Interesting style of post I have not seen before.
Another concrete post design. Love it. I remember being fascinated by a barbed wire collection at the Melbourne Museum. Wouldn't it be amazing if someone started a concrete post collection ! Every time I see a concrete post I think of the hard work farmers used to do. Digging a hole several feet deep - - standing the post in the hole - - - jiggling it about so it would be perfectly aligned. A lot of concrete posts seem to have deteriorated over the years but this one seems to have stood the test of time. TFTC .

Another quick find for RNZ & me documenting the find
Heading back to Boomtown today from Christchurch & RNZ has targeted a few caches to grab on our trip back. Most on our side of the road home

I can honestly say I have not seen a post like this before, to my knowledge anyway. Quite interesting. And another cache! TFTC B&W.
Driving today from Christchurch to Blenheim, and picking off a few caches on the way, as we tend to do. Mostly, but not exclusively, those on ‘our’ side of the road today. All pretty good, thanks all COs.

What a great very different post, we loved how this was made so interesting. Thanks for bringing us here and the cache bumandworker.
Andy waded through the long grass and found the cache then tossed it to me waiting at the car. I'm not sure who was the most surprised when I actually caught it. Signed log and passed back to Andy as he didn't trust me throwing it back. tftc
Heading north to Nelson for a 40th birthday party tomorrow; a quick stop here on the way.
An interesting relic; thanks for this cache b&w.

Family holiday time...loaded up with bicycles to find some fun tracks. A couple nights Kaikoura, a couple in Blenheim & then finally a couple nights in Richmond.
Heading up to Kaikoura this morning - hot as today; ducked up this side road to find a cache or two. Nice quick find, thanks....what a cool random post.

I grew up on a farm that's been in the family since 1898 and have never seen a post quite like that. Thanks for the diversion along this road. We enjoyed the letter boxes and witch at the turn off. #3514
Have learnt another bit of possibly useless information about fence posts old and new. However, enjoyed the wee trek to this one and a lovely quiet road with th backdrop of an old race course. Fascinating!! TFTH
A second cache down this little rail-side small side road. Worth a break from thr main drag and an interesting historic fence post. Tucked away nicely and all good here

A real quick roadtrip weekend 'down the line' to Chch and surrounds for us this weekend. mrs capperz is on her own 2 week roadie, so it's just nightowl19 and I for the long haul, 800kms, puzzles and trads, a couple of badge upgrades on Statto project-gc, and a few take-away establishments visited to maintain the caching machine. A good weekend which as usual is over too soon, but still a good couple of days away. I had a meal to go to on Friday night so was not on the road until the relatively late time of 0800 on Saturday morning, and back home again just 36 short hours later on Sunday evening. Treble figure haul over those 2 days and plenty of back road sights and experiences of parts of Canterbury not travelled before. Managed a couple of earth caches, a load of apples (enough for cider!), some childrens names and even mustered some errant horses (on the loose from Kaimanawa?}

It doesn't pay to assume at times, I just looked at the cache name and assumed it would be in one place, who needs a gps? Well me obviously! I soon spotted another T post from where I stood hidden in the tall grass. Thanks bumandworker

One of my fav ways of spending a weekend day - jump into the car with a direction in mind, stopping for caches along the way, enjoying the journey. This time I piled a couple of 'kids' into the car also, and we headed to Kaikoura making the most of the road being open for the weekend and not that much traffic thanks to the Picton detour still in place. Needless to say that we never made it as far as Kaikoura, although we leaft early enough and got quite close. Try explaining that on a monday at work - where did you go over the weekend? Well, Kaikoura, but we did not quite make it there. Oh, is the road still so bad? LOL!
I almost got lost in the grass here! TFTC!!

What an experience it has been caching in Kaikoura, every way you turned it was either mountain or sea scenery. We learnt so much abour the earthquake you had here last year,

Nice interesting post that has stood the test of time and is likely to last for a long while yet. TFTC
I've seen and placed in the ground a lot of fence posts on my time but I've never seen one like this. It's an oldie. Easy find and nice to have a radon to explore. TFTC.
Wasn't in the first place I looked but it was soon found, don't think I have ever seen one of these posts before tftc
Found with warfi. Had to wait for tractor to pass. Nor West starting to pick up 28 deg
Found on our way home from our trip to the north. Not an overly successful cache raid in the north due to the weather so it was good to be able to grab a few on the way home without getting too wet. tftc found with rayzr2
With a few more days of holidays left we decided to head south again and find some caches we didn't have time to look for last week, plus some more off the beaten track. This was one of 51 found today.
Thank you to all CO's who made this possible.
Thank you to all CO's who made this possible.
Our recent multi day Canterbury cache raid was so successful we decided to have another one before the holidays finished. Again we got stabbed, prodded, pricked and scraped by the variety of hedges the region is so famous for. And of course we can now hold our breath a lot longer. A skill well worth developing to avoid breathing in part of the road surface every time a vehicle passes. Just over 200 finds were logged this time and a great time was had finding the caches with a variety of shapes, sizes and placements. A big thank you to all COs who made this possible.
Chelzea and I on a day trip from ChCh to Kaikoura, North up SH 1 and then return via the inland road through Waiau. A good number of caches both on the way up and back but not as many in Kaikoura itself as we would have liked but a good trip never the less. Found many cool places and caches and thanks to all the CO's for their placements.
Found while heading back to Picton on a beautiful warm sunny morning, collecting a few caches I didn't get when I came down a few days ago. *TFTC bumandworker, #8609* I had noticed one of these posts when coming down the other day and liked it - thanks for drawing this to my attention.
Hm yeah.. first time I remember seeing this kind of post.

[green] At last I am on my way to the mega. Two weeks of insane caching in Christchurch. Looking at 7 Badgegen upgrades, a 200+ cache day and, of course, the Mega. But first I have to get there. It took me 9 hours to drive to Christchurch, pretty much what I expected, found 55 caches along the way.
WEll, this is different. Never seen one of these before. See? THIS is why I go geocaching!

Found on the drive north from Christchurch to Golden Bay. On the road before sunrise and I was timing the journey to be in Nelson by 4pm to meet dad at the airport. The weather was not too bad most of the way, but starting getting a bit dodgy through The Whangamoas. Quick find at this cache. TFTC (2421)
Driving a car back to Palmerston North for a friend. Quick stop up this side road for a easy find. Thanks for the cache.
Another that all falls into place once you get there. Another few opportunities for some apple recipes for Hello Mrs down this road. TFTC #6574
A nice quick grab here. The log was yuck(see photo) so we removed it and place a mini notebook replacement.
We found it upside down so turned it the right way up. A train passed while we were signing the new log.
Thanks for the cache [purple]Our cache find: #2895[/purple] | [green]Cache of the Day: 9/46[/green] | [blue]Cache of our trip: 140/224[/blue]

Quick drive down to here a bit further and low and behold a cache. Yay. Cheers for the cache.
This is a trip I did from Christchurch to Picton today with the main purpose to find 50 caches that each are 1 km apart so as to complete a part of a challenge I want to complete.
I looked at the wrong T post initially.
Cheers for the cache.

Came here on a slow day's geoaching trip between Kaikoura and Christchurch. Found the cache quickly, interesting fene remnant standing out on its own. Signed log, TFTC
It is amazing what you discover when out and about. Across the road, was an old horse racing track. Looks very primitive, but I think they actually still use it. Had to hang log out to dry as soaked thru. Did not have a repplacement, but ok now. Re-hung canister upside down to stop water getting in. It is surprising how water gets into "sealed" containers.
Not quite the same but have seen some old posts/waratahs in Barhill Mid Canty while caching. Thanks, we need these quick finds.
It was too. It also took too long to find. Mrs S couldn't find it at first. SoBad left the drivers seat for an immediate find. That made him smile as well.
Thanks.
Thanks.
An interesting old post of a type we hadn’t seen previously, and an easily found cache. TFTC
Out with Kiwicampnut to assess a camp in Kaikoura - so made the most of the day and cached there and back
Great post - it just had to be "the one". Tucked the container back a little more hidden than we found it while kiwicampnut turned the car around.
First a streak of 3 Hello Mrs' caches now a streak for bumandworker.
Thanks

After a slight deviation on our way to kaikoura - RuruNZ and I found this one quickly elephant tracks leading to its location as the grass is quite long here.
Quick n easy find my way to Kaikoura for cache maintenance. Never seen one if these before.
TFTC. This was the second cache just off the main road. It's funny how I often wondered what was down this road and all it took was the possibility of discovering a small plastic box and here was!
Thanks bumandworker for placing this cache.
