The Morris

Day 40 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc and today we headed to Hells Gate - Robmc did the walk while we had a mud bath and spa.In the afternoon we went rail cruising - a unique experience. We had time on our way to go around the lake and collect a few caches. Hello from Seattle! After an amazing trip along the southern coast of Australia heading from Sydney to Adelaide to attend a Mega-Event with my fellow Lackey and best Geobuddy Giacaches, we headed over to New Zealand for a week of caching and adventure - as I often say, we've never been closer, so it made perfect sense to plan for a stop. We have a loop around the North Island on the schedule, and I'm so excited to see all the things there is to see!Today we wrapped up the coast on the way to Auckland and found all kinds of caches as well as getting on the water - every day on this trip is just 10/10. Nasndala jsem se a znovu se la vlet. V hustm deti se mi fakt nikam nechtlo. Teba se to odpoledne zlep. V poledne jsem se konen vykopala z pokoje a to u byly pehky, sice velmi ast ale vtinou krtk. Rozhodla jsem se objet jezero Rotorua a odlovit si njak keky, zejmna challenge 5/5. To se neodmt, zvlt kdy ji spluji. A taky cel msto smrd sirovodkem, tedy zprtkama. Ale po chvilce to pestane vnmat. Na okraji centra je komplex velkch park s pknmi secesnmi barky pvodnho sdla guvernra a starch lzn. Termln lzn jsou tu vyhlen a uvali je u Maorov, ovem zejmna k pran, vaen a vyhvn obydl. Dokonce se tu nepohbv do zem, neb by vytryskl dal pramen. I voln v parku jde pra ze zem a msty jsou i prameny. Obela a objela jsem si tu nejzajmavj budovy a taky ukzky maorskho ezbskho umn. Oboj bylo soust njakch keek, tak jsem je odlovila. Zvaovala jsem i nvtvu Polynzskch lzn, ale kdy jsem vidla jak davy se tam v tom poas enou, dala jsem zpteku. Nemm mentln kapacitu na to bt v baznku se stovkou dalch lid. It was raining heavily from the morning, so I rested in the morning and after lunch I decided to go around the lake and hunt for some caches, especially the 5/5 challenge. The rain slowly turned into showers and I made it all the way to Rotorua. Here I saw old houses, spas and parks and Maori art and found several nice caches. Team Eika

As a once in a lifetime holiday, this year we are traveling for 7 weeks to Vietnam, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. In Australia we meet Ellen Sch and MrVon sr and Ingsve to visit these last two countries, so here we cache together. We signed the log with N4. Now we have solved many caches so we have a large number of solved coordinates. But we are interested in all types of caches, so if you receive a log, it means that we have visited your cache. We haven't quite decided where we're going, but we'll probably let the weather decide for us. We want warmth because in Norway it is now freezing. We will stay for about 2 weeks in Australia and 2 weeks in New Zealand and we will end the trip with the Mega event in Adeleide on 29 February. So thank you very much to all of you who make it possible for us to travel around finding caches. On March 6, we set course for Norway again. There are extremely nice people everywhere and we are welcomed, we thank you very much. After a visit to town for a quick look i had 90 minutes to get some caches - I only got 3 but they were well worth it - 2 new D/T combinations including the coveted 5/5.This was the first and I drive around the east shore of the lake - nearly missed the turnoff. Found by Mr CNQ out early this morning after first night in the area. Made hard work of it by walking around multiple times. This is our first NZ mystery cache and 3999 overall, greetings from Queensland and thanks for the challenge cache. Great team work here, with hubby being able to seek and find. We had to make a couple of circuits before we came up trumps. Its a beautiful day to be exploring the area of Hamurana on the outskirts of Rotorua. Only discovered that I qualified to look for this cache on 3/12/23, so now Im so happy that it was so soon before we found it. We didnt expect to be up in the Bay of Plenty region for a couple of months, but dear darling daughter has arranged a couple of pre Christmas adventures for us all. So needs must when family are involved, we are so grateful to be here exploring. Favourite given GenCuster for an interesting challenge cache.

Find#1585Out and about today on our fifth full day in New Zealand visiting from . This was a challenge that I had seen once we had booked our trip to Rotorua months ago. So I organised the caches to find last month so that I had completed this challenge beforehand. I found all the caches required and today was the day to actually sign the log. I was so excited to complete my first 5/5 cache. A favourite point from us. Down in Rotorua for 2 nights and 3 days and I had in mind the GC45 CITO we had yesterday and a pile of caches that had a horse attribute for an Auckland challenge I'm working on GCA5F8V. This cache wasn't one of them...lol. However I do need a mystery cache for another challenge I'm working on.

I was quite keen to pick this up today, and when I refreshed the cache page while south of Rotorua, whose name did I see there having found it? My good buddy rustynz who is also down from Auckland, a westie like me. I had a chuckle over that.

So at GZ, I see height could be an issue? Naaah not really, but I rang Rebel98 and rusty anyway and to have the chuckle with them, and got the lowdown on the cache. Off I went, no issues since I have a step ladder in my van which has proved very useful this weekend - long story on THAT one. I signed in and off I went. Heading to Maketu now to find more 'horses' for my challenge. Thanks GenCuster for the hide and your challenge too.

Day 9: We ( TeamARF, Gcoven and myself) have travelled over from Brisbane, Australia to have a visit since we were not able to make it to the Mega. We have spent some considerable time solving puzzles and making plans in preparation. We have a gigantic list of old, interesting, highly favourited, challenges and a few Geo-arts to try and collect over the next 10 days. There is a good chance we got lazy with our logging, or space saving depending on the log size and do some joint variation of our initials - TGJ, GJT or JGT.

Today the plan is to work on collecting things of our list - some of the very old caches in the area as we head back north towards Auckland. We are also picking up a few challenges (will check qualifying once home).

Please excuse the generic log, just have extremely little data to try and survive on it for the 10 days. However, you can be assured that if we have found your cache it was special to us for some reason or in a special location - so thank you for contributing to our holiday.

I will edit logs when back in Brisbane to add more details to those that need more details and of course I will be adding favourite points as I go along.

We’ve been planning this trip to New Zealand and Australia since before the pandemic, so naturally I did some checking of challenges in the places we’d visit, and was pleasantly surprised to find that we already qualified for this one. Happily there were only four of us on our tour group to Rotorua, so I was able to lobby for a quick stop here on our drive back to Tauranga, and introduce a couple more muggles to our glorious sport. With all of us looking, it was a quick find, and fortunately, one of us was tall! TFTC and the fun!

Having found a clever hide by the same CO yesterday, it was a nice drive around to the top of the lake to find this one. Looked for ages in the rain and with the dog opposite, occasionally barking, before I asked Mrs ST to vacate the car and help me look. She spotted it immediately. Challenge answers submitted 5/9/22 and now we are in Rotorua for a few days. Found the cache after a 30 min search and PAF. It had fallen onto the ground and was partially buried when my muggle hubbie found it! Unfortunately the log is soaked and I didn’t have a spare log on me… replaced it where the hint and cacher told me that it was located. Great challenge thanks

Kimbathelion soon spotted this cache, however retrieving it turned out to be a bit more difficult. Tried all sorts of things, one which ended up with me being on the floor (fail) eventually with some crafty team work kimbathelion got it. TFTC

Have been eyeing up this challenge for quite awhile. I was deciding how I was going to get this challenge. Then saw the checker and realised I qualified. Yay. So today we were in the area and decided to grab it. Looked around a few times and having only been found a little while ago. We knew it had to be here somewhere. On a week long trip up and down the middle part of the North Island. Same weekend as the Mega event in Auckland (but that's not where I ended up). Targeting a few specific caches, and a few others. This is one of them.

Oh how this one has been taunting me since my DNF a few months ago. I've enviously watched every finder log their find. Having been at the Auckland Mega last weekend we are now pottering home. Stayed the night in Rotorua and decided to go round the northern half of the lake which we rarely drive. Noted that we qualified for this and wrote a note on 16/12/19. Can’t believe it’s taken us over two years to get here. Thankful made the find and happy to finally tick this one off.

Wasn’t sure if we would find this one with the last log a DNF. Malinkaly made the find quite quickly. Not many spots to sign but a few names have faded to almost nothing. Geochecker says I qualify and will post my list tonight when on the laptop.

Malinkaly and I planned a road trip to go to the MEGA but Covid has postponed the event again. We decided to continue on with our planned journey making adjustments as we go with the ever-changing travel restrictions.

Well, that did not end like I wanted. Spent the last couple of days finding caches around the Rotorua area, and as I had some time to prepare had sorted out which caches I would use to complete this challenge. Even had contingency caches in case there were some DNFs. What i didn't account for is that once completing the challenge, the challenge cache itself was not there.
