Finally found this Satans Spawn. Working with MannyisOM the little sucker was located after several DNFs on past attempts
Sneaky hide. Found after some perseverance and knowledge/skillof "lead n lace". Torch from the other side saved the day. TFTC
A lazy day touring around Peterborough and the backstreets admiring a few kangaroos Lizards and Goats on our travles searching for these hidden boxes and the nasty (Blow up the factory) Nano's.All caches were in good condition unless stated otherwise.Nano's, nano's bleeding nanos to keep it clean, I could easily use more explicit language but I am keeping it civilised. Somebody, anybody find that Nano factory and launch a HIMARS missile at it.3rd attempt after reading through the previous logs, studying the given hint, swearing cursing, sore knees, grazed and grubby greasy fingers and hands, need I go on? A nasty sneaky and mean little hide.We are glad we found it before leaving town tomorrow.Grrrrr Thanks for the cache chrispy89Find Number 10814
Found it TFTC Found in good condition. Bloody nano on machinery but this being our 2nd attempt and having a torch we were determined. To our surprise it only took 10 min, dumb blind luck I reckon, Geo hubby says pure talent
Another long trip around AU over the top end with lots of detours. Now heading back east across the Nullarbor with a stop at Maralinga, Ceduna, Lincoln National Park, Coober Pedy & Oodnadatta.TFTC. Took a while to find in the dark. Easier to spot looking under from the other side.
Took a long search, reading through some logs helped narrow it down and spotted soon after. Then I fumbled the nano and dropped it. All good, will just get it, but couldnt see it. Took a little while searching, it couldnt have gone far and saw it fall. Searched about a little longer and thankfully found it under a leaf. Phew! Names added, it's a tricky hide even with the hint, glad we got it, twice.Last night we were travelling late, pulled into Lake Hart to stop for the night. It was a busy rest stop, we circled to look at our options then out. Returning back in, a nice pull in well out of the way on the road in. Camp set up, a number of trains went past through the night, had spotted The Ghan, based on timetables, but another passenger train also. Really pleased to wake here, it's a stunning salt lake. Full of water and the edges of salt crystal. Had a great time exploring and even a freight train through as we stood btmy the tracks. Another stunning blue sky and warm weather made for great scenery.Packed up and heading south, it was a return to NASA'S first space centre in Australia, all cleared now but roads, deap eroded roads, but stunning with salt lakes of islands and outback landscape.Got in and out okay, off down the road a bit to see where zone 39 was filmed, apoplectic film and just the right location! A ruined bunker from the movie still there and relics over a crazy fascinating landscape. It took a but to get too. Took the van in a bit too far but found a turn spot without incident. Unhitched and carried on. Needed the 4X4 and low gear but worth it.A top up shop in Port Augusta, then through the bottom of the Flinders.so green and lush given the outback baren of yesterday and set up late in Manning Hill to set up camp and cook dinner. Thanks for your cache to enjoy!
I think I have a fair idea of where it is, but I ran out of time, and it was cold and windy. I'll be back for another try.
Tricky little sucker. Mr 2 enjoyed the trains, I enjoyed the satisfaction of finally retrieving and signing the cache. TFTC
Finally a find on a train!! Many thanks to Bindikins for their idea! Really hate nanos on trains. TFTC
Awesome! Heading to QLD from WA picking up a few LGAs on the way. Thanks COs for placing and maintaining late log
Arriving in this beautiful historic town, we came to visit the trains and to read a little bit about the history of this area. We decided to have a look for what we knew would be a very sneaky nano on W907.Yes, it was sneaky, and we were grateful for our torch. We changed perspective a couple of times and finally spotted it before we collected it. Log signed. A difficult challenge, and often old metal items can be our nemesis cache types. We got lucky with this one today. Thanks chrispy89Domsky
After reading some of the comments and finding a really good hint, we were able to find it
A previous DNF...................... Even after nearly ten years this GZ is still fresh in our minds.. the gravel rash knees, greasy fingers, the what-the-hell-did-I-just-touch, the head hitting on numerous train parts.. And now we're back to do the whole process over again. Sometimes we question our sanity.. Poking, prodding, swiping until we decided enough is enough. But enough isn't always enough and you have one more look. And there it was... TFTC chrispy89.
This was a tricky little fella. Came back twice to get him. Favourite point from me. TFTC Chrispy89
Took a fair bit of looking for this one! Almost had us stumped! Finally we looked from the car park side right down low and could see it through the underside easily found today with Woems1
FINALLY can turn this one into smiley. Frustrating but rewarding. Hint made more sense after the find.
Pick up Detofinbars mid morning for a days geocaching around nearby towns of Terowie, Peterborough, Black Rock, Orroroo and Booleroo Centre with other caches in between. Taking in a lot of different scenery and magnificent views that would not happen otherwise if there wasnt a cache to look for. All caches in good condition unless indicated otherwise in log. TFTC Very happily changed this to a smiley, thanks to Detofinbars and her TOTT, looking lower than before and from the opposite side it could be seen more easily. The hint made more sense after the find.
Well,Today another attempt to find this elusive cache! No such luck , even with all the information and hints from other finders .This has been a bit of a thorn in the side..Attempted 18/6/2015 again 22/8/22,23/8/22 and twice today !! Running out of ideas!!Anyway that what 4/5 gets you sometimes ..Maybe early in the morning!!
Travelling with iluvtrekking up the WA coast to Darwin, down the Centre and in the Flinders. Basing ourselves in Peterborough for a few days to grab finds in the surrounds. We’ll it took a good five minutes with four of us scouring the area after scrutinising the hint. YAY - Geo-hubby came up trumps. Thanks crispy89
Travelling with richlink from Perth to Darwin up along the west coast and home again through the centre and the Nullarbor, picking up caches as we go.
Our last night in Peterborough and a quick whizz around to fuel up and get the last two unfound caches in town. Thanks to all the COs in and around Peterborough who contributed to the great time we had while in the area.

At last!!! Tried on August 2019 and again August 2022. Diverted to come back on this trip!! We're not leaving til we had it. Thanks to a hint from a fellow geocacher we got the little blighter. Phew!! Hardest one we have ever done. Tank in Esperance was another one that caused three different visits.
Thank you for the huge challenge. Totally deserves a favourite.
Thank you for the huge challenge. Totally deserves a favourite.
While staying in Jamestown we recently logged a string of DNF’s in Peterborough. So many nanos which always give us lots of trouble
While staying in Jamestown we enjoyed today caching in Peterborough and Yongala. Peterborough seems to be ‘Nano Central’ and as these types of hides are definitely our nemesis, and not our favourites we weren’t surprised to end up with a few DNF’s….even with comprehensive hints
Back in Peterborough, just wanted to find this elusive nano. We had spoken to the CO on the JLWE event and he said just follow the hints ( thought we did last time ) anyway came up trumps this time. Mr Suelee very happy, thanks crispy89 for this bloody nano Off to try our luck on other trains A FP from us
No luck with this one today maybe I am getting a bit to old for climbing under trains
Thanks any way
Thanks any way
Had a weekend away with mates, recently spoke with CO to source a hint for another cacher. This is the first time I’ve been back and had a look since. Found this time and smiley very worth while. Must have been so close in the past I’m not sure how I missed it. TFTC.
Spent 2 days even taking pics and examining, still couldn't find the little blighter.
Visited this cache yesterday and looked for about 1/2 hour. No luck.
Went back about 2 hours later and had another go. Still no luck.
Sent an SOS to CO who replied with another little hint.
Went back early this morning before any muggles were about and BINGO.
Wow didn’t we have a spring in our step then.
TFTEHC!!

did not find on our yorke to york trip. (top of Yorke Peninsula, South Australia to tip of Cape Yorke, Queensland )
so many great experiences and beautiful locations. how fortunate we are to live in this wonderful, free and varied country!
thank you to all cache owners and those who helped out with maintenance and especially to chrispy89 for this particular cache. we didn’t find it even with very specific hints and instructions from previous finders and even the CO. too tricky for me and my now very greasy fingers and grubby nails! good to see that the cache deserves its 4 1/2 difficulty rating ( at least for me). one of only a couple of DNFs on this trip of over 12,000 kms
Nope. I don’t have enough time today. Machinery nanos and rock and ruin hits are my least favorite.
You cannot imagine my delight to find this cache. Took a while. I went to the other side & squatted & yah saw the little fella. Then I went to the correct side must have misjudged my steps so went back & squat & spot again then counted the sleepers & back to correct side. Reached in & found the little fella. I certainly had a spring in my step as I walked back to the cp. Gave my muggle husband a high five. Tftc
Diverted to Petersborough on the way back to WA. Could not find this one 3 years ago and even though we kneeled and got grubby still no joy today Looked all-round the front wheel on the road side not the car park side. Then spread down all the wheels and even went to the carpark side. Our blue face is still blue.
Again !!! No luck ,had a sleep on it last night! with a few ideas . no go, no more time to be spent . So heading westward.. Thanks chrispy89
Had another attempt but a bit good for us today. last tried 18/6/2015..
Thanks chispy89...
Thanks chispy89...
cache is still in place. use your fingers not your eyes and the clue and you will find the cache
27.07.22 tftc found while working in the area, with a hint from Pest77 got ya, bloody nanos
Nano owners you are all evil especially the ones who put them on really big objects
Too evil for me...curse nanos on big metal structures! And the hint isn't really much help....what does 'black for black' even mean??? Fourth wheel perhaps???
Persistence is the new word of the day!!
A persistent little nano
A persistent little green icon
A persistent little geocacher
Persistent to put a Smiley here
Not looking good after three of us searching for three days
A good half hour on each searching session searching in under around, grubby fingers, stones sharp stones to kneel on
But a little persistent geocacher with keen eyes spotted something interesting…is it…was it??
Absolutely was - Yahoo!
Persistence paid off with this nasty little nano!!
Persistence to put a Smiley here - and with the signing duties done and dusted, photos taken, but not shown, as proof we signed that nasty little nano
Persistence - yes I can put a Smiley here
This is the last geocache in town for a smiley, thanks for showing us around town through the eyes of a Geocacher

10431. Located finally by baby&Mrs gopher at 0955. Met up with CO for a morning coffee. Many hints given us over the several times we have visited this location. Well at last we can say SL Tnx chrispy89.
Didn't find it
26/06/19

FOUND IT! Or I hope we did. The log was signed & dated before being returned back to its hiding spot. We now have a smiley face to replace the blue one from our previous attempt to find this cache.

After the kids giving up on this one i spent another 20 minutes looking to come up empty handed
No luck again today , spent 20minutes at the location hinted at by a previous finder but still left Smileyless
At last Ive got a blue face turned into a smiley thanks to a previous finder and CO .... we searched an searched....we looked for a good 30-45mins trying to find this tricky hide.....we all took turns being upside down under the train looking where hevwalker had found it when she was here....we looked in sections both sides of the original spot with no luck....rang the CO and showed him where we were looking, showing all the spots very closely and we came to the conclusion it could be missing....with permission we placed a replacement back in the original hiding space. Thankyou so much chrispy89 for my happy face.
Darn, we really wanted a find here and looked for some time. Then we got further hints from the CO but still no success. Came back for a second visit and still no luck
Thanks Chrispy but I couldn't find this one!! I will have to visit again another day.
OMG.... I'm going to have nightmares about trains and teeny weeny caches!!!!
Really enjoyed going to my 1st event last night in Peterborough and meeting some great people.
TFTC Keep smiling

The three of us headed up north for a caching weekend, to attend events in Peterborough, Melrose and Clare over three days. We had a great caching trip and found 36 caches along our travels.
After catching up with fellow cachers at the Railway Hotel, we stopped here after a very good tip off from an anonymous hoppity frog on where we should be searching. We found it quite quickly and the tip off probably saved us 20 minutes of searching.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache chrispy89.
PS: Sorry for the late log. I'm slowly catching up with my backlog of finds. If it wasn't for the excellent GSAK software, I would have lost track of many of the caches I've found.

I came here in October 2018 and had no luck, this evening I returned and PAFd straight away. Still it took some time and I couldn’t find it. I stuck my head in and managed to find the bastard. Great to have this off the list
Today I headed from Adelaide up north caching my way along from cache to cache and found myself in Peterborough for the evening. Stopped at Clare and Burra along the way as well as doing a few lab caches. Roughly 80 finds for the day.
Thanks for the cache

We were here last year and DNF so try again this year. No luck after 2 of us searching for ages. Had to resort to getting a bit of a nudge from the CO. Then it took for ages to find. Thanks for the cache and extra hint chrispy89.
I started 2020 with some improbable caching goals that only lasted until mid February.
Then came Covid-19 and caching began to take a back seat.
But with restrictions easing and socially responsible caching again possible it is time to start filling the calendars again.
Seven cachers set off in Four 4WD vehicles using satellites to search for caches in and around Arkaroola and the Gammon Ranges. [^] The Six day Arkaroola Odyssey had begun.
Day 6: A few last caches and head for home.
Lucky for us we had a previous finder with us or I may never have got my name in this log book!
Insert the now infamous Freddo nano rant........[HERE]

Found during our return back to Adelaide via Yunta, Peterborough and Burra from a caching trip to Arkaroola and the Vulkathunna-Gammon Ranges National Park in the northern Flinders Ranges for the week. Thanks for the cache chrispy89!
This week a small group of us headed up from Adelaide to the northern Flinders Ranges to do some exploring and find a few caches. Although a couple of us had spent some time in the area before, it was new country to most of the group.
The main aim was to find the caches in and around Arkaroola and the Vulkathunna-Gammon Ranges National Park. These were mostly Traditionals, but also included a Multi and an Earthcache. There were also three older Traditional caches that had been archived a couple of years ago but were still in place.
We had some fun navigating around the various roads and 4WD tracks and walking and scrambling up and down the hills and creek lines. It certainly is a very spectacular and rugged part of the state.
The weather was pretty good with a few beautiful still, clear and sunny days although there were also a couple of very windy days. The nights were mostly cold though, with temperatures around zero degrees on a couple of nights.
All of the cache containers and logbooks found were in good condition.
Buoyed by success at a nearby similarly elusive cache, we decided to give this one a go. However we did also have a previous finder with us, which helped narrow the targeted search area down and it wasn’t long before we had it in hand and our names on the log sheet.
Thanks chrispy89 for the cache.

Being drawn to this one by it's D rating i thought i'd have a crack at it.
Not to be for me today. Being injured in the left leg meant bending and or crouching down was near on impossible. I was thinking that this may be needed in order to be able to find it , maybe... maybe not. I felt in many spots but to no avail this time.
I will be back to have a proper search next time
Thanks for the challenge anyways, chrispy89
[Stayed overnight at the Railway Hotel and the next morning it was -3.8oC according to a weather source.......... brrrrrrr!! This area is renown for C C Cold! It was fun removing all the ice from the windscreen of the car the next morning lol ]

This weekend, I joined Laighside Legends on a trip up north, with the main plan to visit the Bendleby Ranges on Saturday, followed by a hike in the Southern Flinders Ranges at Rawnsley Bluff. We managed to escape the rain and poor weather in Adelaide, and we were only affected by minor drizzles and some cold winds on Sunday morning.
Today we headed from Adelaide to Peterborough in the late afternoon, so more driving, and less so geocaching. We did take the opportunity to make a quick stop at Saddleworth and Burra, before finding a few geocachers in Peterborough before resting for the evening.
I previously had a DNF here back in 10/2018, where we had four of us feeling around with our hands to a lack of success. I was back in Peterborough this evening, and thought I would reach out to the CO for another hint/nudge. As it turned out, the CO was just finishing his work shift in Peterborough, and so there was an offer to assist in person if required. I had another look myself, and still couldn't get my hands on that evil little bugger, so the CO then provided some better directions, and sure enough, the cache was found within a few minutes. Wow, that would have been a really tough find otherwise. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks chrispy89 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have converted this cache's frown to a smile!

Well what can I say? We had to PAF, still couldn’t find it. Moved on to the next one, next minute another message, CO was on his way in... and with that, it wasn’t even where we were looking! TFTC.
Had to “phone a friend” and we would have given up without the assistance, simply for the lack of time to search. But eventually Tweety2 made the supervised find. TFTC!
It's a bitch to find. Allow several trips, a few hours, some anxiety, and a drinking habit...
But you find it in the end
But you find it in the end

Now I have to log in to a Not find. I'm already coming many, many years in my holiday to this cache. So far unsuccessful !!! The left is not helpful. He does not support either. Black is a lot here. A spoiler photo would be a hundred times better! The only one that brings this search are dirty hands and valuable time. One might be observed here the many DNF and impressively replace the statutory. I wonder if there is a nano (!). A nano at this location ??? A small would also be found. Cheers Peter
Hot, windy, and dust storms...
great day to go caching!
Looked for this 4.5 yers ago and the trauma was still fresh in my memory!
Chatted to CO about it back at the JLWE. Did I write down what he said? No...
Bugga.
Let's start from scratch. Methodically. How long could that take
Pleased to announce that the Nano spawn is still there, has been found and log signed.
Much happiness for Cat today
It's on the train ... go get it folks

This one had me searching past my time limit, if i had all day i am sure that my fingers would get wheelie dirty! Thanks for the opportunity anyway.
Originally thought the hint would help, but it didn't. Then read all the recent DNF logs and gave up.
On the final leg heading home from the 17th National Caravan Rally in Albany.
Thank you

TFTC but not to day with blood spilt and a egg on head no luck will need to come back another time
We are with heavy hearts that this cache is a DNF for us. Looks like we will need to come back to this one another day
