Even tho it had a DNF last time I decided to tackle it today but I had the same luck but was able to kill a few mossys. With the coordinates all over the place was difficult to target a particular tree. Maybe next time
At Find #5 for the day here, the mozzies were starting to get to us, so we were becoming impatient looking for this one. The GPS reception was very poor, so we had a large search area, and furthermore it was a mint tin. Lucky we spotted it when we did, for soon we would have given up. The log is soaked and unsignable, so it really needs some maintenance. TFTC!
Found with Brittdoolan
Took us a while, not sure if the coordinates are off or my GPS wasn’t functioning correctly. Found the correct spot by looking at photos, which was about 10 metres from where the GPS put us.
Cache was pretty well ruined so couldn’t sign.

Good thing we found it when we did! If we didn’t find it when we did, the mosquitoes would’ve eaten us alive. Good spot tho TFTC
A bit of a bush bash, but got it in the end. Log really really soggy and slimey, if I wasn't being so eaten by mozzies I would have hung around to sun it for a bit. It needs replacing as well as the broken zip-lock bag that wasn't keeping it dry. Thanks for pointing out quite an interesting tree!
Cache needs a check. Backburning has gone through the area and burnt most of everything.
Whilst in the area for another cache, decided to grab this one too as it was close and to fill another spot on my D/T grid. Nice location, quick find. TFTC!!! #1073
A change of plan led us this way, We had some solved puzzle and some other caches in our sights.
So many unfound caches with so little time restricting us to 1 day scramble. Lot of walking, only a couple of DNF. But a fun day in company with Wilbert67.
Thanks to all the CO for placing these caches. We will be back.

A long day of caching around Lake MacQuarie today. Solved a lot of puzzles in the preparation and teamed up with J+J.AU. Great weather and lots of fun. Thanks to all the CO for putting out the caches!

Parked at the loop on the hill, light bash down to a wide trail then across. Very tangled at GZ so looked a bit wider!

July school holidays have arrived and what better way to start them off, then with geo caching, so this was our first stop of the day, we kinda just bush bashed our way down the hill, until we found a track, and we picked tactical tree, from the distance and as we closed in on the tree the group kids made the find, TNLN, TFTC
Lovely spot hidden away in the bush behind JH hospital.
Cache was dry, but ziplock bag has broken and needs replacing.

Another super close to home cache finally marked off.... was put off before by the thought of a mint tin in a tree! Not sure about the D:T ratings? Seem high for what we found today, maybe it was higher in the tree before? Anyway, it was a really nice little bushwalk - we parked at the coords suggested by GCookie - recommended....

Nice and easy walk on a very hot humid day. Circled around what I thought was the possible location where the cache could be but no... Followed the GPS further and there is was, I'm surprised the cache was still there as it was just sitting in a very interesting place where it could of fallen. TFTC

An easy walk down - but oh how we are going to suffer coming back up again on this hot and humid day [B)]
We did indeed look at the wrong tree for a moment, but then decided to follow the GPSr to where the cache was actually hidden [^] We are surprised that the container has remained in situ for so long in that precarious spot!
Thanks Llewnbnp.

i have been wanting to find this one for a while as the little symbol taunts me every time i drive past. I headed out to find it and was going to attack it from McCaffery Drive. however i was on the wrong side of the road. so as i was turning around to go back i just decided to park in Cambridge Drive and walk in from there. After arriving at the geo zone i spent ages looking around for the cache as my GPS just wouldn't settle. eventually i called a friend who advised me i was searching the wrong area. after walking a little further in the direction he indicated i spotted it straight away. TFTC
ALWAYS NICE to turn a DNF into a 'Found It'. 1405, GAFF1 I entered the bush of George MacGregor Park from the exit point of last years attempt. Try: S32º 55.378' E151º 41.149', near a corner of Cambridge Drive.
I think it was easier as last time I had a manually entered waypoint, which was about 15-20m south of the gpx loaded cache today. Although that did look like "The Tentacle Tree". Today I still wasn't convinced I was at the correct tree so expanded my search, and I guess with a little help of Chippyroo finding it just yesterday I was able to grab the cache a LOT easier than I was attempting last time.
Log was dry, plastic bag was shredded tho. Coordinates still seemed a way off, so took a spot measure.
Will add a bookmark for the Challenging Cache elective #4.

Mrs C wanted to go out caching today and this was one of the ones on our list.
We have had this one on many lists before, but for some reason or another we always put it off. Well not today. I bushbashed my way down from Mccaffery dr, came across a couple of tracks and made a quick and easy find. We Mrs C still in the car i followed one of the track and ended up on a road, so i followed the road back towards McCaffery dr and called Mrs C down to pick me up.

Amazed it was still there after the recent storms. Nice spot with about 30 m of bushbashing from the trail. TFTC
Found. Saw the cache as I walked towards it. Somewhat difficult to get for an old codger, but achieved it. Thanks Llewnbnp for the Cache.
That tree is slippery in the wet. with cache in hand wondered why I was up here by myself
TFTC!! What a great spot!! Once we got to the co-ords it was easy enough to see =)
Bush bashing was quite fun. Perfect weather for it.

Bush bashing, track finding, tree climbing... what an adventure! Easily spotted, not so easily grabbed. Rock climbing Geo - daughter was, again, very useful. Someone had to take the photos!!! TFTC!
Was wanting to find a cache in Newcastle to keep the GeoStreak going, without using up the last of the caches 'near' home. Found a track in that direction, lets call it Entry A, near the sign for George McGregor Park, S32º 55.378' E151º 41.149' should get you there, rather than bashing through the bush. With a recent storm and some timber on the ground I scout around, but didn't see anything, so looked on the up and up. Was able to do a T4 climb that I thought was promising, but nothing there. The rest of the likely spots near GZ seemed to be more T4½ or T5 with needing specialised equipment.
Glad I had started early, as I was still able to get another cache after 2 x DNFs.
Glad I had started early, as I was still able to get another cache after 2 x DNFs.
With a couple hours before my wife got home from work, I set off after this higher terrain cache.
Parked in the wrong spot, same as previous finders and went down the hill with no path.
Till I found a path and walked along it to GZ. Still a bit off that path and even the geotrail was overgrown.
Had too much fun climbing. Wondered how I could explain if someone found me up there, but didn't need to.
Thanks for the great terrain cache!

Geocache: # 1,135.
Found on: Sunday, 19th January 2014 at 4:15 PM.
Current streak: # 173 days.
Today's finds: 8 of 13.
Caching party: morry9 & AlphaDeltaIndigo.
Morry9, AlphaDeltaIndigo and I had been planning our trip up to Newcastle to attend the ‘Onya Bike at the Fernleigh Track & Glenrock Conservation Area. The plan of attack today included a number of Old School caches and hides that would help fill in some blanks in our Difficulty / Terrain matrix. It was a relatively early morning start and we hit the road travelling north up the old F3 highway. We managed to bag 13 caches in total, including 3 Old School and another 3 difficulty / terrain caches! The finds for the day included Aero-Vale, FREEWAY #4, ‘Onya Bike (Event Cache), Fernleigh Loop Fire Trail, High Voltage Rock & Roll, Berocca Bomber 1, Guns Nano’s and a little fun, Tentacle Tree, Off the Bypass, Hunter Valley Vista, Sugar Sugar, Sugarloaf summit scene and #18 The Thin Black Line. Another great summer road trip and big day out!
Once at Ground Zero, it was a straight forward ascent and the find was almost made straight away. We soon had the Cache In Hand and performed the signing duties before returning the cache to its original hiding location. Signed Log, Took Nothing Left Nothing. Thanks For The Cache Llewnbnp.

Found on Sunday, 19th January 2014 after the Newcastle event: "Onya Bike"
(Log may be signed as ADI, short for AlphaDeltaIndigo)
GC Buddy for the cache: "JordsAu & Morry9
Cache condition: Good
Log condition: Good.
Just after the event, we decided to continue our caching adventures. JordsAU parked on the road and we went looking for this cache with a we-accept-your-challenge mind frame.
We parked the car on top of the hill, near the main road and walked down. We found an entry to the bushland, and made our way to the cache. It wasn't very far, but had a lot of mosquitoes. The mosquito repellant had worn off and I felt mosquitoes nipping at my epidermis! Getting to GZ was a bit trickier, but we made it there. JordsAU, being the more agile and flexible one of the group, climbed up the tree to get to the cache. From far off, I could see the blue eclipse mint gleaming in the sun and had pointed out to Jords of the location. He signed the log with our names and carefully climbed down.
The walk back to the car was painful. Mozzie bites and uphill walking aren't my kind of thing. But the tree was interesting and thus thank you for the cache!

Thought we'd do this one quickly on the way home and as usual thought we found the best trail in. Of course not! We always find the best trail on our way out! Great hide! TFTC
Lol now that was a challenge. Bring climbing shoes, a geo-partner, and mozzie spray. No snakes today!

This was my second attempt at this cache, the first not being a proper attempt as I realised I had no chance without a GPS. However, today, armed with my brand new GPS (which I am absolutely in love with, it means I can now get bush caches) I came from the Lions rest stop. Big mistake, as it meant I had to bush bash for about 150 metres, till I came to a well worn path.
I followed this round until I caught sight of the cache's namesake. I then found a GeoTrail that led off, and came to the tree. I agree with a previous cacher's advice, do not wear smooth - soled shoes. After a treacherous bit of climbing, I retrieved the cache, signed the log, and was on my way.
Thanks for the cache Llewnbp.

Eventually found after walking the plank and looking up, coords a bit off. If anyone following my bush-bashing finds my reading glasses or my electronic mosquito repeller (the effectiveness of which is a bit suss!), please advise, TFTC Llewnbnp!!
Not being familiar with this area of bush, it took me awhile to find a track in, and I probably went in a round-about way, but eventually arrived at GZ.
Co-ords were a bit out, but I figured out which was the tentacle tree. After a quick climb ( slippery smooth soled shoes aren't the ideal!! )and search the cache was soon in hand.
Obviously I had to stop moving whilst signing the log, and the mozzies moved in and had a good feed!
Replaced cache and started swatting, and was soon on my way again.

Once the geotoddlers were asleep I decided to head out and get this cache being the closest to home. I've ridden my mountain bike through here before and knew that there are a few tracks to help me to GZ. After a hot and sticky walk I arrived near GZ. The GPS had me still 20m from GZ but I knew I was at the right location based upon the cache title. After a little searching and much trepidation I found the cache. This was a sticky humid night for a cache hunt. Tftc.
On a mission today. Need 6 more today to make 1000 in our first year.
An easy walk to GZ and it didn't take long to work out where it would be. Signed log and put it in a plastic bag to keep it dry. Mint tins are not waterproof!! Thanks Llewnbnp

Found with my mate cccritter7. Chris had made the discovery up the tree in a nice location. TFTC
After a bit of a drive around of course I was on the wrong side to start with found the track into the gz area.
So off we went along the trail till getting within meters of the gz when the mozzies moved in again.
While I was signing the log I was being attacked by the mozzies again, the repellent must be wearing off already so got the job done quickly and jumped down to escape.

Went out for this one last week but came home with no luck. It was too far away to leave the bikes.
We went back today equiped with bike locks, mosquito repellant and gloves to tackle the cache. We searched around for 10 minutes until I climbed up to retrieve te cache! It was time to sign but out of all things to bring, i forgot a pen!!!!!! We took a few photos instead. Thanks for the catch

Headed down here from the bay today while wasting some time, we ventured down from the closest parking ( in thongs ofcourse) until we Found the access path to GZ.
At GZ I made a PAF to confirm where the cache was before climbing. After climbing up there and finding the cache, I was disappointed to find such a small cache in a good spot for a larger one. Other than that it was a nice scenery for a cache. Thanks guys!

Saw this one published last night...but was over in Nelson's Bay...so this morning I got up nice and early to go for a walk through the bush. Parked close and wandered along the fire trail to within 20m of GZ where it soon became apparent where to find the cache. Once there, the cache was found without any trouble...although there were a few ants attacking the log sheet as it wasn't in a zip lock bag. Have been along this track a couple of times.
