We saw that Mathina Falls was closed on the Parks app but we decided to try getting there anyway. Unfortunately 4km from the parking area there was a series of downed pine trees that we couldnt pass. Thwarted. Never mind cant get them all
An absolutely beautiful place.we are here on a very special family trip from Victoria and Germany .The container is the perfect camo colour for this spot.Tftc
Auf unserer Reise durch Tasmania hier fndig geworden. Tftc and greetings from Germany
What an amazing little adventure! Certainly worth the 6km drive up the track and the last 10 minute walk to reach the falls. Saw more people up here than we’ve seen for the rest of the day though . Cache found close to the path but well hidden - certainly worth a FP for the experience and my most remote find ever I think - Tftc
We enjoyed our walk into the falls.
They were spectacular at the time with plenty of water flowing over, probably due to all the recent rain.
The cache took a few minutes to locate but eventually we found the little hiding spot.
A previous log mentioned it was close to the track which helped us finding it.
Afterwards we found a track that lead up to the top of the falls.
If you can manage it go up and have a look. It was well worth it as the falls had another two tiers that we could see.

This place was quite busy today with passing muggles but we managed to find the cache easily enough without attention. It took a while though but got there in the end. Spectacular falls. TFTC!

Today with an event being in mathinna seemed like a good half day trip to find a few caches in the area I was yet to find. Parked at the car park for this cache and made the walk along the trail. After looking at the waterfall and enjoying the area. It was time to find the cache. With such a small cache and so many options I had a read of a few logs and something stood out. The cache was then found nicely tucked away and is all good.

Drove from Swansea early in the morning with the main aim of getting the caches around Mathinna including both waterfalls. Enjoyed the day and some of the great caches in the area.
The walk to this cache from the car park was very easy. We found the cache easy enough, but the lovely silence was broken by a motor bike rider who rode to within 50 metres of the cache.
Great location. TFTC

Hello Tassie2Heads thank you for the cache.
Today AmazingDaughter, EeePees and I had come up to Mathina to do a road closure for a car rally.
We were lucky enough to have a bit of free time before the dinner so we went for a drive and found some caches.
I had been here a few years ago after checking a rally road book, on that occasion the falls were really flowing at stages the track to the falls were under water.
Today we parked the car just before the broken bridge and walked to the car park and then up to the falls.
No were as much water but just as nice.
After a bit of a search luckily EeePees found the cache.
I was on my way to get some photos from a rock in the river when I slipped and almost drowned in the water (I got one foot wet).
Un like my last trip up here there were no leaches.

Thanks for the cache Tassie2Heads,
Was in the general area doing a 'road closure' for a car rally, with AlbyDangles and (his) AmazingDaughter, a great day out in the nearby Nicholas Plantation. Once our official duties were over, we had some spare time before the after-event dinner and presentations; and so an impromptu caching adventure began. Tossed up whether to head up Hogan's Road, but opted to visit the Evercreech and Mathinna waterfalls first, and this turned out to be our last cache in the area.
A slightly longer (but still easy) walk due to the broken bridge, although someone has cast aside the barrier and closure sign just before the bridge, we chose to NOT be the vehicle that finally breaks the bridge and collapse into the stream below! The longer walk just meant that we needed to carry in a block of chocolate as a reward one we'd found the cache.
This did take a while to find, and we were searching in failing light, but luckily had a torch.
Gotta say that I do feel for those who have made the effort to get to such a place, only to not find the cache; but I digress. We found it only about a ruler's length off the track and down low. No need to climb or leave the track!
AlbyDangles took the cache name literally, and did fall/slip into the creek below the falls, and managed to fill one of his boots! Sadly (but probably expected), we other two just laughed!
He emptied his boot, we giggled, we took some pics, and all enjoyed some chocolate!
Time now to head back to Mathinna for some dinner, at the post rally function.
As an aside, I led a 'waterfall-crawl' with a group of Venturer Scouts in a mini-bus just over 20 years ago, taking in Lilydale, Cuckoo, Ralphs, St Columba, Evercreech, Mathinna, Meadstone, Hardings, Meetus, and Lost Falls - a big day, 14hours return Launceston to Launceston (city, not waterfall) which included nearly 6 hours of walking. Another great day.

First time visiting these falls, on a gorgeous day with the family. Mum found this one, tftc
Even the extra walk couldn't deter us from heading into these gorgeous Falls.
The cache was a different story, I found it rather difficult to find, in fact I was about to give up.
Well done.
This cache was hunted, tagged and released by activehunters tftc.

Last part of road closed to cars so we walked further than we anticipated but wow the falls are worth it.
Lovely walk along the road and then falls trail, ferns and greenery galore. We stopped to get the cache first and after looking and scratching and no finds Andy eventually spotted it well hidden.
Onto the falls for a look and some photos, how nice.
Last cache I think for the day while out and about with goose and ssrat.
Thanks for bringing us here and tftc !

After all the problems we had getting to this cache it was great to see it at long last, we took wrong roads and when we were almost at the car park we found the road closed and had to walk to last 700m or so.
The cache took us a little bit of time to find and it was only looking at the right angle that had the cache spotted we were all very pleased to add our names to the log.
Great falls i must say.

We were about to turn into the last park of the road to the falls but it was barriered off,so we walked. The GPS has messed us about and we'd covered way too much distance to turn around now. It was quite a nice walk, even with my sore knee. Some of the big gum trees has beautiful coloured trunks and we wouldn't have noticed these if we had driven in.
We stopped and spent a long time searching for the cache until stainless steel rat spotted the clever hide.
We then went on to admire the falls. Well worth the visit!
Thanks Tassie2Heads

Tassie Trip Day 170 - From our new location of fingal we decided to go for a little drive around the area and made our was into the hills.
After taking the nice walk to the falls and trying to find this cache with the gps accuracy of 45M and some walking around and climbing and around but alas came up with nothing and after discussing this one the weekend with some people at an event it was realised that I was as close as a meter to it just didn't look in the correct spot.
Thanks Tassie2Heads for placing but it will have to wait as its a DNF this time.

In Tassie with family doing a short trip around this lovely island. We saw some amazing scenery, wildlife and visited some beautiful places while touring around in our motorhome. I took the opportunity to stop and grab any caches when we could stop. We only had a few DNF's and made some good discoveries and clever hides during the trip. We had some fun and laughs along the way.
A lovely area to enjoy while finding a cache. I stopped off on the way to the falls but slipped on the loose rocks so after doing a bit of a search, decided to give it a miss until on the way back. Enjoyed the falls and doing a bit of exploring. Then on the way back was surprised to make a quick find of the sneaky little hide, without all my previous effort.
Thanks Tassie2Heads for placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

Obviously some yobbos had been in the area the day before and left rubbish everywhere and chucked the sign for the falls in the creek. Grr! So after a 20 minute clean up and replacing the sign I set off. It was the perfect day for some photos of the falls (cloudy) so I quickly scurried there and spied what I thought was the 6 trunk tree on the way. On my return I quickly found the cache, only to realise that I had left my pen in the car. Doh! Oh well, I will sign the log when we return next year! Thanks for this cache, we love it here and camp in Griffin camp ground annually. Great spot!
Found on trip around Australia with Willow the little black adventure cat. See vancatmeow.com for updates on where we are. 29 months on the road.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
It was staring me right in the face! A sneaky little hide, but it’s there. Found with VanCatMeow on 28th Nov. Signed log TTMug. TFTC.
Bouncy GPS again, but we were certain we were at the right place. The hint doesn't show on the GPS so we gave up as the light was failing fast.
We would never have found the bison tube without the hint, and even with it we walked around the object mentioned a number of times. As DD was saying to a semi-muggle companion where she would put it if placing a bison here, her eye spotted something and Bingo the cache was in hand. All is good with the cache.TFTC
Loved the falls but weren't able to find the cache. Was a bit dissapointed on that score because the road in was as rough as guts so really wanted a find as a reward. No such luck, but as I said, the falls are lovely.
I thought I had a thorough look, but I couldn't find it. Will return one day to search again.
Beautiful day out exploring this bit of Tassie, found W Trudy+3...TFTC...Beaut, easy walk...
With geovan parked up at Griffin, we went for a drive to see what we could find in the area. Many of the caches we hunted had not been found for months, but we still had high hopes. Unfortunately, a list of DNFs were descended upon us... Never mind...
Falling for Mathinna was the target, walked in, enjoyed the hike. What a beautiful spot. Found GZ with the help of the hint, but that I where our luck ended. Despite spending about 30 minutes searching could not claim the prize. BUT have to thank Tassie 2 Heads for bringing us to a beautiful location, that we may have missed on our tour around Tassie.

Found on the 1st feb while doing some cacheing in the area nice quick find tftc
After a bit of a search found it in what turned out to be a obvious spot. Great place to visit. Track up to the top too steep for me.
Lovely spot. Found the six trunk tree but no luck finding cache. Had it been washed away again? Happy Christmas
After another 40 minutes of hunting all around the six trunk tree we were starting to think that we were destined not to find this cache. All the while our GPS was having one giant spasm - at times it was saying that we were 86m from GZ only to revise that in less than a minute to about 3m. The tree cover and the narrow valley certainly plays havoc with obtaining good signals making the hint essential. Eventually we thought that we would do one last circuit of the tree before heading off. The threat must have been enough because the little blighter was seen as the shorter of the 2y'stassies came up from below. A very good hide with the cache container blending well into the surroundings. Finally we can tick this one off our "to do" list. Thanks Tassie2Heads for replacing the cache so promptly - greatly appreciated. After signing the log and replacing the cache, we went onto the falls. Recent rains had increased the water flow from our previous visit, making for a spectacular show.
Many thanks Tassie2Heads for your very prompt maintenance on this cache. We hope to get back there very soon.
Drove over today to check on cache only to discover a hole where it once was. Replaced cache with a new, smaller container very close to the original placement. Thanks for the heads up 2y'stassies and you're right, the road is in bad shape.
After the last log by 2y'stassies I'll put this one on hold until I can go up for a look.
We enjoyed the walk from the carpark to the falls and there was just sufficient water coming over the lower falls today to make our visit very worthwhile. On the other hand we didn't enjoy the road - very rough in places. However the greatest disappointment was that we were unable to locate the cache. We found the location mentioned in the hint and we searched every nook and cranny that we could reach. We searched every hole in the tree (including the removal of a substantial amount of wet mud from one hole), under all roots and the rocks nearby. Alas, no find. The only spot we could not check was the bottom of the hollow centre of the main trunk - it was just too far down to reach even with our extended walking poles. We even went back to the car to get a strong torch to look down the hollow but saw nothing like a cache - we could not even identify the bottom of the hole. After repeated searches extending for a little over an hour we had to admit defeat. If at all possible, we would certainly appreciate this cache being checked in the near future. Thanks Tassie2Heads for bringing us to the really lovely Mathinna Falls and for the original placement of the cache.
Hi Tassie2Heads
What a drive from Mathina. The eagle flying overhead made this trip worth the effort without the bonus of looking for a cache.
Got to some red rocks, stopped and looked! Walk from here: about 800-850m to GZ.
Enjoying myself when I was surprised to see some folk from NSW enjoying their lunch at the picnic table.
Great walk into the falls. Found and logged the cache at 1303hrs.
Took time to enjoy the place before leaving.
TFTC and cheers

A lovely walk into the falls today. Made a quick find thanks to the hint as GPS was all over the place as is usual in these types of locations. Thanks Tassie2Heads for the cache.
Loved these falls. Well worth the effort to get to the top. Left is as you approach, not leave. Thanks
Whoo hoo!! *FTF* . Not only that but our _FIRST_ FTF . Feels good. Even better, we beat Tassie Trekkers to this one, though I think they were busy bagging their bazillionth FTF in Trevallyn at 7AM this morning weren't they? May have had to go back to bed again after that one. Although I admit we did have to follow a trail of their own caches all the way to Lonnie, logging as we went. So thanks to Tassie Trekkers for showing us the way to the big smoke & the opportunity to sneak one under your guard, & double thanks to Tassie2Heads for bringing us here. We lurked around this area some years ago (scrambling up Mt Victoria & Saddleback amongst others) but I'm not sure if we managed to miss this one. A top spot. I wouldn't call the road in "good" though.
A lovely easy walk & a top hint led us straight to the target. Wow - virgin paper! Left a pig to keep the snaily thing company. Thanks heaps Tassie2Heads for bringing us here & giving us the chance to finally nail a FTF.
