Logs
I just checked the location and found the cache missing. Their had been several " no finds" in the recent weeks so I decided to visit the site. Sure enough, no cache. [xx(]
As you will see in my last log, this cache appears to have been muggled. This isn't too surprising as the area is full of people strolling around enjoying the hot pools and the wonderful aroma. The good news is that I have placed a new cache in the same park for all of you to find. It will be posted as "In the Village 9" as soon as I get all of the data entered. Thank you all again for your great logs on this cache.
We were on another business trip to the North Island and decided this would be a good time to replace the log sheet with a new waterproof version. We drove down to Rotorua and easily navigated back to the steaming, stinky, but wonderful park. Our GPS led us to the exact location and we recognized the small "palm like" bush where we planted the geocache. Unfortunately, we were not able to find the cache in the area. We looked all around the correct area as well as near the "wood stump" which had been discussed in previous logs. No luck. I must assume that a muggler snagged the cache and it is now defunct. That's too bad as I really enjoyed reading all of the logs from my fellow NZ geocachers and appreciated all of the favorite accolades that you submitted for this little cache.
I will be decommissioning this cache as it does appear to be gone. The good news is that I just happened to have a new style cache with me and have planted it in the same park, but different location. As soon as it is published, as "In the Village 9", you can all have a go at it. It is a micro cache and will be a challenge for all of you. Just don't fall into any of those hot pools while looking for it! Thank you all again and happy hunting!

Didnt find this one. The hint would of helped but didn't have it. The stump seemed suspicious as it was just sitting there. Area quite interesting T4TC
A great weekend in Rotorua for Rotary conference. Good to explore a new area. Enjoyed the sights and the forest and amazed at all the places with steam coming out ,boiling water, bubbling mud and of course the smell.
Took a while to find.
Not where the GPS led me to.TFTC

Tftc. Easy find, but I'm wondering if it's too far out? I put it back exactly where I found it, but maybe it's worth the owner checking it. The log was also quite damp. Enjoyed the park.
Thought I had found the cache camo but no cache. Obviously I didn't as it has been found since. Next time ....
Haven't seen one like this before. Took a while to find even though GPS took me almost exactly to the spot. Great camo
Made an early morning visit to this cache. No muggles around which made it easy to search. Quick find. TFTC.
Having a the "same" style of cache in Papamoa the find was quite painless.Thankyou.
A quick find finally, after we refuelled with a picnic lunch nearby. Now we're off to walk around the park collecting others.
Only slightly offset for me but took a while to find. Thought I knew what I was looking for, but it was a bit too close to a lawn mower's reach for my liking, therefore i wasn't looking in the right place at first. This is a micro not a small, and I don't know how it will survive the winter as it doesn't appear waterproof... Time will tell...
What a great park and a nice free attraction in the town. I was struggling to find it until HevBee tripped over it! Tftc
I didn't trip over it SuperSpaniel... I searched very thoroughly infact! Great cache... thanks very much

Whew, smelly area! Those black birds with the red bills seem to like it though. Lots of bubbling pools, and one steaming rock right in the trail. Watch out for a hotfoot!

Found with stairman1. This one took quite a while to find but eventually I located it. Loved the container and the spot. This one gets a favourite from me. TFTC
Goldielover and I spent quite some time here spending most of it in the wrong spot. Goldielover checked out another spot with a great deal more success.

Certainly one of the weirder places on this planet, yet great to see (not smell). TFTC!
Nice hide. The camo has done the trick and it looks like it could be a stayer. TFTC
Our first cache in Rotorua today. Here we started to get to know the smelly side of it

Did this in the fading light and took a while to spot the cache. Great idea and all made sense one we interpreted the hint correctly. Thanks for the cache. Did with Mycro Man
Went for a look at lunchtime nice quick find signed the log and back to work.
A very nice hide in a very interesting park with all the hot steam and mud holes. TFTC!
Took some friends out geocaching with us. Split into two teams of five - guys vs girls - and had a race to collect the three caches in Kuirau park. Needless to say - the girls won, although admittedly we did stack the odds in our favour by taking the best equipment and a headstart. Good hide. Thanks.
Thanks for the cache, looked yesterday and did not find, but we were in a hurry, today went straight to it...weird,
Took us AGES to find and now we feel very silly coz its obvious when you know it lol. So glad it didnt beat us.
Nice little cache just tucked in with it's peers --- clever idea, well we thought so once we found it, ha ha

TFTC. Out for a family stroll in the evening and we were walking straight past this one. Then it was time to sit and dangle our feet in the thermal pool in the gardens - fantastic and 100% free.

Arriving near GZ we were disappointed to see a family setting up a picnic nearby. As we approached we realised that the true GZ was away from the familys sight and so was an easy retrieve. Cache blends in nicely but quickly spotted. TFTC

We went the long way around from where we parked and found it well camouflaged. Nice walk among the wildlife.
Tools while to find, we were a bit slow this morning, eventually located the cache in a very good spot. Great hide. TFTC
Stopped for lunch nearby as there was a resonably dry spot out of the rain. Haven't been in Rotorua for a couple of years so turned on GPSr to see if any new caches in the park. Well what do you no, only 46m away.
So while hubby paked away lunch I wondered over and quickly located the cache. Was actually reaching to pick up before I even realised it was the cache. TFTC

A nice wee hide between the muggles exploring - a quick snaffle and sign. TFTC!
Weather has turned nasty so we brought the grandchildren to the Park to soak their feet in the hot bath. Of course they wanted to turn it into a hot swim! There was a break in the drizzle so I dashed out to look for this cache. Looked in a couple of places until the GPS settled and then I spotted it. It wasn't that hard at all because I have the same container sitting in my caching bag back home and recognised it immediately. It's perfect camo for this location. TFTC

Forgot to log this on the iPhone. I extracted the log file from the GPS and saved it at the end of December. Good thing because I lost the GPS later. Back home now I compare it to what I have logged. This one is missing.
This was the cache I used to find the YHA.

Haha....Hard....Wasn't looking where I should have been....Probly something to do with the hang over....
A nice sneaky find which didn't prove that hard to find after all. Log is in good condition. We signed and moved on.
Hey, woof... JC Cache Dawg here...
I'm loading all my finds from my Alpha Males (aka GenCuster) logs, where he deigned to remember that I was with him... As if he could forget...19:25 I ÔwasÕ grumpy 'cause I was on a leash and needed a proper walk before dark

19:25 Must admit I had to turn on the GPS for this one. Not sure why [?] JC Cache Dawg was grumpy 'cause he was on a leash haha. I'd sent a txt yesterday at 19:12 to another cacher asking if they'd FTF'd this cache but they hadn't. I'd decided to leave this as an 'easy' one if I was rushed one day, as part of the challenge (below), but seeing as Eruptn found it at about 20:15 I should've turned off the one block away I was at the time and grabbed it myself! As it was, weed-eating all day meant that JC needed a walk before dark so it was a quick cache today anyway.
The 'track' is from toot 'n whistle & brings back more childhood memories of (naughtily) running along them & over the bridges.
Be kinda interesting to see how long this lasts in situ.
Cheers, GC.

On a beautiful day out to do some caches for " The Challenge " we decided to stop for this one our way into town to get petrol. Took a while and the local market meant there were lots of muggles about. Fortunately they were more interested in the market than a couple of old farts acting suspiciously on the track. Took a while to find until we interpreted the hint correctly. Very good hide. Hope it stays there. TFTC.
Spent the morning with my nephews. Went to the Volcanic Playground and played on everything. One went for a fire engine ride, then everyone did the train ride.
On the way home, we called in at Kuirau Park to check out this new cache. The path was once the track for the Toot 'n' Whistle, which has sadly disappeared. This turned out to be an easy find for my niece. TFTC.
I was a bit worried about this placement, as I have a cache ready to place nearby. Looks like it's still doable.

Memories of this park - the train used to be here - neat to see the foot baths still there - nice hide luckily quickly spotted TFTC
Saw this pop up while in Whakatane, very surprised to find we are first as it was over an hour ago to it was published. Nice container. Great to have another cache in the park.
Thanks
