I live to far away now to check on this cache now so this is the end for Bofor
The cannon is from Bofors, in Sweden, so it is interesting why it is spelled Bofor (without the 'S').
We spent some time searching, but did not find the cache.

Despite a considerable search this morning, I was unable to find this one. With the previous logs also, it might be worth the CO checking it out.
Brought a newbie... looked all around feet but couldn't find. Newbie didn't want to give up

A final before we headed for home in the Blue Mountains, after a lightening visit up here for a baptism/first birthday party.
Found the cache quickly, and realised this couldn't be what the CO originally placed here (empty lolly container with a beer bottle cap as a lid ). Checked with Bedawn, a previous finder, who confirmed that it had previously been a sis team. Now that I can read earlier logs, I can see that someone found the log & added a temp container.
This is an interesting old gun, so I hope the cache can survive.
Thanks .

Found with paulyman while visiting the Hunter Valley this weekend. Took Paulyman's mugged friend along for the find. TFTC.
I found the cache and log in the place that was described by the cache owner in previous posts .It is an interesting spot my daughter loved sitting in the seat. Thanks twinturtles TNLN SL
Is it still there?
We are much more used to Howitzers and know just about every typical hiding spot of those canons. However a Bofor Well there are just so many different places to learn.
BTW - what does the hint mean? The canon is sitting on a concrete plinth about 30 cm off the ground and there are no gaps to place a cache around there

We hope this counts as a find. We found a damaged scrap of log which we signed and replaced but there was no sign of a container. TFTC.

Not sure if we just missed the container, but it seems unlikely with the log being loose.

We were in the area this weekend for a wedding, so after the wedding we thought we would do a bit of caching.
Many thanks for the neat hide in a cool spot.

Yay! I found a twinturtles cache! It took me a while to find as the cache had clearly been moved from where it should have been. After a chat with the cache owners, I have placed it back where it was intended to be Dropped TB, TFTC!
Placed a new log in this on 25/8.
As per my log, the magnets did not seem strong enough to place where hint suggested so I put it back where I found it. It's actually in a good spot where it is.

Arrived here to hear a strange banging coming from the gun. Walked to the other side to find a little muggle ankle biter attempting to shoot down incoming. His parents weren't far away but Mr C was able to slip down out of site and grab the cache. We took it back to the car to sign and found no log. Happened to have some fresh log sheets with us and put one in. Couldn't put it back due to mini-muggles parents coming over to play too. So we drove to local shopping centre for a comfort break and to give the muggles time to clear off.
On our return they had gone but now there some more there. I was able to quickly slip the cache back where we found it however I don't think the hide was where it was supposed to be as there were magnets attached to hit and where we found they were not needed. I did try to attach it where the hint suggested but the magnets did not feel strong enough to hold.
We now realise that the lady and two children who were there were Lostwoods4 looking for the cache we had taken away but found it shortly after we returned. TN left a penny. Gets a fav point for not being a nano.
Thanks twinturtles.

Discovered with jfindit before a very successful and enjoyable Event at Hunter Valley Gardens. Found several caches before and after the event. Met and chatted with old and new faces.

Found in company with Doc-Who on the way to The Hunter Valley Gardens for the Caching amongst the Vines Event. But couldn't sign as the log was missing, Doc-Who took a photo for proof that we were there. Nice Cache, TFTC
After a bit of a search, I had to resort to the clue, and I reckon this lead me astray, as I then searched everywhere as indicated by said hint.
So the search continued, and when I had then excluded all possibilities, I widened the search to other areas around Bofor and the cache was quickly to hand. Phew!! I really thought I was in for the dreaded DNF! TNLNSL TFTC

Nice easy find for our first time. The geokidlets were a great distraction to the muggles! They would never have guessed that we were treasure hunting! No written log included though. The big geokidlet was a bit disappointed.
Reperio at 0005.
Managed to find this one with Big Matt on a late night caching run around Kurri Kurri and Cessnock, and as we started our search around the structure, I had a good idea of where the cache would be...but hard a time proving that thought as I couldn't quite get my hand in far enough to check it out thoroughly. Luckily BM did.

Our 7029th overall find.
Found with Marcus Vitruvius on a night time tour around the Kurri / Cessnock area. This one was found at 0005. Our first cache for the new day! We started searching and after checking the size we knew there could only be a few spots. MV tried to retrieve this one but didn't quite have the reach. I managed to snag this one.
Thanks twinturtles for the cache.

We grabbed this one on our way out from the Hunter. It took a little bit of searching, but when we found it couldn't believe we'd missed it. Thanks for the cache.
Couldnt find hope it hasnt been muggled. Will try again another time incase its me haha
Finally found with 'sesblocker' after about 15 minutes. Couldn't believe you could hide this sized cache in a anti aircraft gun!! Thanks for showing us this interesting piece of history.
Found it so easily with the help of fletcher he looked straight at it yet didn't see it theft I had a look and saw it straight away
Found this one today but made it harder than it should of been but got there in the end Thanks for the cache ☺☺☺☻☻☻
Nice little cache, the kids swapped a little Snow White figurine & a seashell for two of the treasures inside. Our 7 yr old was rapt to find it!
[:o)] Nice Cache

The good hint saved time searching this complicated object.
BTW I think Bofors were Norwegian and mainly used for anti-aircraft or occasional surface to surface naval defence, but perhaps others may elaborate on that.

Happy Easter. We now probably know every inch of that gun. And the soldier who operated it probably had far less cheeseburgers than I. Squishy
Great cache. Clue was excellent!! Quick find before Sunday lunch date in the vines. TFTC

If there are muggles around beware but if you actually get in the thing you should be okay.

Arrived at 12:10 pm.
Well this one had me stumped for a little while and had to pull off a fantastic act for some muggles. I should get an Oscar.
I had the right idea of where it would be but was honestly searching for something else. I knew it couldn't be too small but couldn't figure out what it would be. When I found it I was thinking, expect nothing from now on, you'll always be wrong.
While I was searching (around 15 minutes I reckon), there was a muggle telling me to get in and fire it at the cars driving the wrong way at the round about. I'm pretty sure he was drinking; he was.
Quickly signed the log all stealthy like and then stepped back for a pic.
When I left the muggle was asking if I were in the military, I said nah, just really love looking at this sort of stuff.
Thanks for a fantastic cache twinturtles.

We decided to grab all the new caches in this part of the world before the rains set in later on today. We jumped in the Geolux and headed out. There were plenty of police around on the roads today and we went through two booze buses (it being Australia Day).
We'd been here before to a tricky micro a few years ago so knew exactly what we might be in for! With a good clue we had the cache in hand within a few seconds and a nice size one it is too. TFTC

I have been walking past this cache for weeks but I couldn't look for it until I had caught up with logging finds from months ago.
The previous cache here was my first find,, so couldn't leave it unfound.
Had to remove some rubbish and the cache was in my hands. Thanks twinturtles.

Working near Kurri today and did not have to be there till 9 so headed here to get a couple of caches.
It was early enough that there was not many muggles about so could search around.
my first thought was oh no not another micro on a gun but on looking at the cache page again saw it was a small. Cache was found after a few minutes of searching, signed log and put back with no muggles spotted.
Thanks twinturtles for this cache.

My first cache - thank you. I found a signature item and left a treasure behind.

I was 30mins from my break when this came through, After a short drive from Kurri Kurri, the cache was soon located in a sneaky spot. Alot of rubbish is left on this gun, it's a shame!
Thanks for the cache guys. It's good to see more local cachers
P.S you stole one of my spots
