On a fishing trip to Talbingo, but the fish were not biting...Thankfully a geocache could be found, TFTC Spitsta
On my way home from a fishing trip at Tantangara. Thought I would pick this one up on the way. All good here. Now onto the next one for the day. TFTC
Parked across the road to find this. Made the dash watching for cars and looked down and it was on the ground. Signed log and replaced tftc
A quick grab expected a bison not a mint tin like you find in QLD. Oh well signed and got the smiley
Found on a trip to Tumut and Blowering Dam - quick and easy find before turning down towards the dam. TFTF Spitsta

We decided to take a leisurely afternoon drive to attempt a couple of outstanding Tumut caches. We have driven past this one numerous times before, but just never had the opportunity to stop. Today it was a quick and easy find. TFTC!

Log sheet is missing. Put in a piece of paper until new log can be added.
Found it recently & forgot to log it. Reading the activity log rather than the co ords helped me find this one.
A quick find on a short detour out to visit Blowering Dam. Luckily we did not have to go where the arrow pointed, and made an easy find here. Thanks for the hide.
Found at 1:44 PM GAFF1.
Set up camp at a lovely spot right next to the Tumut River and then headed off to explore the area. Haven't been here for a long time, so we were looking forward to revisit and remember what we could - which turned out to be nothing, except for the dam wall
Arrived at GZ and started to look at the usual nooks and crannies for these sort of hides, but that was cut short as the cache was found just lying on the ground - and a sad cache it was A simple mint tin, squashed up a bit with the log sheet full.
Thanks Spitsta.- but I your cache needs attention if you are still in the game.

Day three of my travels around Yass and Tumut chasing caches. Drove a few back roads collecting caches amongst the traffic (lots of people were up in the mountains over the long weekend). A good range of caches before heading home around lunch time. Drove through a little part of the summer bushfire country but f I had have headed through Tumbarumba would have been a different story.
So many cars on this road - Blowering must have had a million campers this long weekend. GPS took me down the bank before I wandered back and found the obvious hide.

Quick and easy find, heading through tumut finding caches, all looks to be in good order with this one.
Spent the day in Tumut, to do some caching.
We found a variety of hides, and good size containers.
A nice quick park and grab.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Spitsta, for us and others to find.

Time for a spot of fishing, exploring and caching before work this afternoon. Had a muggle park just along the road from me as I signed the log, so waited until he drove off to replace.

Day 2 of our invasion of Tumut saw us packing up camp before heading out for a full day of caching.
Teamed up with Albida33 for the most part of the day before we headed home.
Quick find here today.

There was a small group of "us" heading off to meet more of "us" in Tumut for the weekend. Our merry band of misfits was made up of MTrax, Tankengine, Joolay, Aquilus1 and myself. In the car we all thought of a name that we could call our gang, but in the end we decided it was a Canberra Invasion Trip that we were on so just went with CBR5. We signed logs either indiviually or with the group name.
It was an awesome weekend all up, with lots of fun with friends. We cached all day then met up with the rest of the Invasion Team for dinner Saturday night, then cached some more on Sunday until it was time to head home. Tftc Spitsta!!!

Out caching with GLISS as part of the Tumut invasion. We had a great day with mostly finds, only a few DNFs.
Another quick find here. Now on to dinner!

What a fabulous morning this turned out to be. It had rained most of the night and there were still showers around, so I wasn't overly enthusiastic about going out as I hate getting caches and logs wet. But Pa was still prepared to be my chauffeur, so off we went. Up to Tumut Tower, what a great little drive that was and back down to start on the trip I had planned using Cachetur.no, that involved the caches on the way to and around the northern end of Blowering Dam.
All that I intended to go for today were found and logs signed. My apologies to COs for not adding individual notes, as Pa is a friendly but often impatient muggle, so time was precious. However many logs are either damp or full, making them difficult to sign in any kind of order. Maybe we should have warned COs that this area is being "Invaded" by a mob from Canberra and Goulburn this weekend.
The weather was particularly kind, as when we parked up at the gates to walk out to Old Gum the rain stopped completely and it hasn't started again at 15:18 when I am composing this . Looks good for the weekend.
A huge thanks to all the COs for these caches. I had a ball!

By the time we got to this spot after having a look at the dam wall, it was already dark. We were on our way back to Tumut to stay for the night and it was an on-the-spot decision that we'd attempt to find this cache as the last find for the day.
My little son was excited about getting to use his torch for the search, so off we set down towards the T-junction where we could commence the search. In the dark it was a bit of a mission, and we spent a few minutes trying to uncover the hiding place. I was considering chalking up a DNF when a little voice went, "I've found it, Daddy!"
Nice to have made the find in the dark besides a relatively busy road. Fortunately, we could remain behind the Armco barrier all the time while searching.
After signing the log and returning the container to where we had found it, we headed back to the car and made our way back to town, not stopping for any more of the caches that are along the road. They will have to wait for some other time when we come back to this area to enjoy the high country.

Found with nissan 65 on a few day away caching. Decided on Tumut and Cooma before heading home to the Shoalhaven. Thanku for the cache.
We decided to take a short cycle after dinner from our campsite at Jones Bridge to find this cache. It was a great evening for a ride and we extended it down a nearby country lane dodging cow pats as we went. The low sun shone on the poplars along the edge of the highway, and with minimal traffic it was a most relaxing way to end the day.
The cache was found quickly, log signed and all carefully replaced.
Thanks

I decided to grab this on the way out. Last November I did a three day hike along sections of the Hume and Hovell track, This was supposed to be our ultimate destination, but we had to cut our walk short by a couple of days.
Thanks Spitsta

TFTC,
We decided to have a couple of nights in Tumut.
We cached our way out to the Dam this morning and are logging our finds before attempting any more.
Visited trackables.

This is our fourth trip to the northern island this year. The first three were primarily for family events but with some opportunities to do some caching along the way. The fourth trip is different as caching is our focus. After getting off The Spirit of Tasmania we are heading north to cache at Wangaratta and then Yass before heading into the ACT and Queanbeyan for a week. After that we will travel to Jindabyne for a few days with summiting Mount Kosciuszko being our main target for this part of our trip. Then we will visit Cooma and Tumut before heading back down the track through Wangaratta and Mansfield as we make our way to Alexandra for the MEGA. After the weekend we will continue to make our way south and back onto the Spirit of Tasmania for the “drive” across Bass Strait. We are really looking forward to three weeks of intense caching in great areas and, hopefully, catching up with some geocachers in each of the areas we will visit.
This morning we left Jindabyne after an enjoyable stay and exploration of the area. We travelled along the Snowy Mountains Highway, arriving at Tumut for the night. We took a number of detours off the highway to visit numerous areas, in particular some aspects of the Snowy Mountains Hydro Electric Scheme. Being from Tasmania where hydro electricity is our main form of energy, it was interesting to see the picturesque lakes and the constructions such as the Blowering Dam and the Tumut 3 Power Station. Although the Snowy scheme is much bigger, we noticed many similarities between the Snowy and the Mersey-Forth schemes. We also spent a few hours caching around Tumut. Although the town must have derived great benefit during the construction phase of the Snowy Mountains Scheme, it was pleasing to see how the community had accepted the challenge and diversified once construction of the hydro scheme finished. Tumut now appears to be a thriving community with a strong timber and timber products based.
Accurate coordinates and a common style of hide led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Spitsta for the cache.
***** We are currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. On 1 September 2017 our average was 86 which seems close to the 100 target. However given that we have found so many GC caches, we have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get our average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that we can strive to attain this challenge. After 408 caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 96.5. We are now entertaining the possibility that we might be able to achieve our gaol before this trip ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

A last minute plan swung into action so StrangeTrousers, mtrax and myself were off to Tumut for a Sunday geomission. We managed to nab a decent number of caches before heading back a little earlier than planned as mtrax was felling quite unwell. It was still an all round enjoyable day and we plan to make a return attack!
A quick find and sign for us at this spot!
Thanks for the hide, Spitsta!

Out for a hastily planned trip out to Tumut with mtrax and SpecimenX. Oddly, neither of them have done a lot of caching out there and I had done none, so there were plenty of common caches to find. I really enjoyed the trip out there via Wee Jasper. The winding roads and amazing scenery made for a pleasant journey ... for most of us. I was a bit concerned about the predicted high winds, but they did not eventuate and on the whole it was as good as it gets for a winter's day in the mountains. In the end, we had to cut the trip a little short as mtrax was not feeling too good, but still a good day's haul & plans for a return are already in the pipeline. Thanks to my companions today, it's always great to get out of town and do some exploring with good company.

On our way home from our Easter weekend in Jindabyne, so we decided to take the long way home and do some sightseeing/caching with the geonephew, SuperSeb0608 and my muggle parents in tow.
Actually a lucky find - the cache was lying on the ground. I'd actually picked it up and given it a shake, but dismissed it a trash. Kept hunting for a minute or two, then thought I'd check inside the container just in case. Luck!!

A bit of traffic around when we pulled up to GZ but by the time I had gotten out of the car and walked over it was quiet! A nice quick and easy find on the way to the Dam Wall to find some more caches. TFTC
