Logs
#4320 Today is day 45 of my geocaching vacation in New Zealand. I'm wandering around Hamilton and finding geocaches.Found it! The log was super full. Brennaz adopted by Cats&Dragons, thank you for the cache! -crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan on November 14, 2024 @ 15:17:22[GC432C8] A Tribute to Nanos (Waikato) was a D2.5/T1.5 Other Traditional Cache at the time of finding.
Found it but couldnt sign, container full of water. Dried out as best I would. Tftc
In the area passing through to Auckland figured itd be rude not to grab this cache along the way. A tribute to nanos? I was worried! Found the nano with a completely full log paper.. needs some TLC to bring back to life. TFTC.
On our way to Auckland Airport, we swung through Hamilton and grabbed a few caches. When we saw the name of this one we instantly knew what we were in for, but with 3 pairs of hands we quickly located the one with the log sheet. It was all a bit damp.
I do love a good nano - I think the first one that I found was at the Bunny St McDonalds in Wellington. Jtp2001 was amused as I retrieved this one, and witnessed my many emotions as I opened this up. Second time's the charm FP added, TFTC!
Great concept!! Such fun. But like other finders this needs a bit of TLC to get it back to its amazing self again, including a new logbook. NB - the inner needs to be placed flush with the base in order for the lid to be secured. Found with lid partially off. Mihi ki a koe mo te keteroki #167
Went back to it after finding it and yes wow fooled me great job love it but may need some love to keep alive
After some muggles at my first couple of picks and then a DNF I was running out of time to grab a cache today. This was the closest so I popped by and cache was quickly located. Log was very full, but I managed to put my scribble in. Tftc
Nice idea but does need some maintenance as nano cashe log is full.Container has seen better days.
Very clever! I myself am a nano cache lover Original log is very full so signed the replacement log.
found with flossieteacake while we were in the area. saw that this cache had quite a few favourite points (which were well earnt as this was a very cool cache to find) we decided to give it a go. it was very cool though could use a bit of maintenance. TFTC
We'd been to get a bit of shopping and decided a couple of caches before going home seemed like a good idea, especially as it hasn't rained on us again in the last hour. This was close by and we were tempted by its favourite points.A quick find today. We did follow the instructions and found the actual log, although like previous cachers have said, it is full and we did sign the alternative log that was in the cache.A great idea for a cache, although it could do with a bit of TLC.
First time seeing a cache like this cool idea, if not a bit worse for repair and a tad rusty. Was a quick spot from the road gave the new log a sign as the original is very full TFTC
Had no idea what to expect, thought this was going to be quite a difficult hunt. Turned out to be an easier find than anticipated but a fun one nonetheless. Found the official log full so signed an extra log left by a previous finder. TFTC
I remember my first nano. Under a bench in the middle of next to nowhere, just outside Richmond. At the time I marvelled at the teeny-tinyness of it and thought, well that's fun. That emotion hasn't always persisted over the years. It's still way above a 'bison in a tree' but nano hunts do have their place in caching hell.A nice array of options here before finally spotting the correct hiding place. Thanks Brennaz adopted by Cats&Dragons#4761
We have come down for the maker magic event and arrived a little early so came out and got this cache. Don’t mind nanos if they aren’t too hard to find. Got this one ok. As per previous log. Very wet. Found a small space on the log sheet to sign but not much room for anyone else and unfortunately they’re are a size we don’t carry. Thanks for the time and effort gone into making this cache.
Found it! I was a bit nervous that this would be a long and tedious search, but luckily spotted it straight away. I think I just happened to approach it on the right angle.
Really like this one! We laughed at the ingenuity. Thank you!

My geo-sister and I laughed a lot when we found this cache - and then found it again. What a fun tribute indeed.
Unfortunately it's in pretty poor condition - the cache lid no longer seals, and it was half full of water when we opened it. All the contents are covered in rust, and the log is completely full as well as very damp. Needs some serious cleaning up and a new container.

Another day in the land of the long white cloud. TeamARF, JACSTeam and I headed back toward Auckland gathering caches as we drove along. A few odd ones today but happy overall with the day. I had booked us a place rather remote so a tad more driving than we had anticipated plus a road closure altered our plans the next morning. Still heaps of fun and some some fab caches. Thanks to all the COs
Traveling with Gcoven and JACS Team around NZ. We had set caches to collect and had some flexibility of looking for other caches as collateral damage while in an area. This was one of those caches with a good number of favourite points so we made a small detour to check it out. Thanks to Brennaz and Cats&Dragons for keeping this cache active.
Day 4: We ( TeamARF, Gcoven and myself) have travelled over from Brisbane, Australia to have a visit since we were not able to make it to the Mega. We have spent some considerable time solving puzzles and making plans in preparation.
Today the plan is to work on collecting things of our list. We have a gigantic list of old, interesting, highly favourited, challenges and a few Geo-arts to try and collect over the next 10 days. There is a good chance we got lazy with our logging and do some joint variation of our initials - TGJ, GJT or JGT.
Please excuse the generic log, just have extremely little data to try and survive on it for the 10 days. However, you can be assured that if we have found your cache it was special to us for some reason or in a special location - so thank you for contributing to our holiday.
I will edit logs when back in Brisbane to add more details to those that need more details and of course I will be adding favourite points as I go along.

Quick park & grab while in Hamilton. Was excited for this by the amount of favour points but was pretty easy to spot from road & straight forward. Full of water too.
Love this idea of a cache! We all picked one…I won! Absolutely no room on the log to sign so I’ve added a pic. Also tipped 500mls of water out of it so some TLC is needed TFTC
We are spending a few days at our Godonton get-away, and wanted to increase our find numbers for today's date, so headed over to the north-west of Hamilton. Last one for today, and a quick find here, though not quite as quick as we first thought! Quite wet, but a fitting Tribute to Nanos, thanks.
Driving Hamilton to Auckland today and picking up some caches on the way.
Will expand on my logs, post photos, qualifying caches for challenges, etc. When I get home. TFTC
Everything soaking in this one. Attempted a mark in the log.

Nice and easy here, can see the original concept, a little sparse and wet today, scratched a mark on the wet log.
The week of fun is over and it's the day to head back up to Te Rapa to meet up with Dad and exchange the precious cargo of the 6 year olds. I'd had a Pocket Query for the area from the other day but no time for hunting, today we had a few minutes available and Governor Ed provided the wheels, I did the guiding. A couple of high FP searches before I headed back down the line to Marton, through some of the worst rain I've ever driven in.
We've done our change-over of grandchildren, two of the smaller ones have headed home after a couple of days and nights with us as 2022 rolled over into 2023 and we headed up to collect the 6 year old twin boys from a half-way meet in Te Rapa Hamilton and they're with us for 5 nights and 6 days - nice one!

Found this one, still in tact. Very water-logged so have emptied the water out while here. TFTC
Very easy park n Grab and luckily we did this on a non work day. Very water logged so have emptied it and replaced. Tftc
Spotted this one as we were approaching it. Container full of water, so emptied out. Log all intact though, just a little full. TFTC
Absolutely amazing! I would give this a fav if I could. Especially liked the meme most cachers wouldn’t understand lol
Was hoping this one was going to be A bit of a challenge as we love a good nano challenge. Cache was easily spotted as approaching. Log was signed soon after. There is quite a bit of rust on the container. Thanks for a fun hide
Thanks for placing the cache Brennaz adopted by Cats&Dragons.
Find number 4578.
Log signed b&p.

We're on a road trip to Wellington and stopping off to see our eldest on the way. Turns out there is a hide almost outside her place of work - who'd have thought? Won't spoil the hide for anyone but just saying that this was a very cool hide and made us laugh. The hide was not quite in the state it was supposed to be but I replaced everything as it should have been after adding our autograph. Can see why all the FPs and will add one of our own. Thanks for taking over the maintenance Cats&Dragons and thanks Brennaz for the hide.
Im definitely a nano lover! This was a cool one to find so a favorite point from me log was full, unfortunately we had no nano logs with us today to replace
A nice quick find thanks. The actual log was fairly quick find too.
Wow, after 1830 on New Years Day and the place was almost deserted. We'll try for some other high stealthiness caches this evening I think!
Time for another trip to the North Island for Ms_KR and me. Wellington and beyond here we come. Today we cruised around Ohakune, until the engine cooked that is. It would have to be New Years Eve.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

I read it as a tribute to nanas so altho I'm not one, I'm glad we found it. I like nanos and this was funny. Tftc
On a work trip in Hamilton
Got some spare time.
Very soggy
Decided to pick few caches while in town

Loved this idea.
I have a love/hate relationship with these. I love the challenge of finding them.
I hate that having big hands makes it difficult to open them.
I also hate that my sharpie is too big to sign the logs. Just left the usual green sharpie mark as my signature.

Funny find. Got rid of pink paper that somebody put inside a “nope” cache! Good fun
No problem with the initial find, but as I suspected it took a little longer to actually sign the log. Fun, all quiet at the location today. TFTC
We needed to head down to Hamilton to look at a quality mattress that Mrs. Liver Bird had spotted on the internet for real cheap compared to other offerings in the stores. So, today was the day that we took a day trip to try out the mattress and place an order. Anyway, we couldn't come all this way and just turn around to head on home again, we just had to spend some time in a different town, have a look around, and grab a few caches while we were here.
We were expecting to spend a bit of time here searching for the cache after looking at the difficulty and size of the cache. Anyway, Mr. Kiwi headed to GZ and saw a likely place where the cache could be hidden. A quick look and, hey presto, there it was in the first place to search. The log was signed and the cache put back where it came from. So, I think I'll write one of those sometimes annoying "quick find" logs for this one.

The magnet is still working, but it's no longer holding up the container, which is sitting on the ground.
This was a fun and frustrating cache (not that any nano cache isnt frustrating, right? Lol)...anyway, unfortunately the magnet has broken off so we found it on the ground. Had fun figuring it out. TFTC
Heading south today with Team Gold ( 0B80B8, Lis's Crew & DaffyNZ ), from Northland to do a weekend caching trip in the Waikato, with the main objective being the Hakarimata Trail.
With the weather not that great today, we delayed the walk till tomorrow and did some other local caches instead. This one was nice and handy, and didn't take long to locate. However, I don't think the inner part was working quite as intended, but still a bit of fun anyway. TFTC

This is the best nano I've ever found.
It really made me laugh.
Well worth a favourite.
Thanks for the cache Cats&Dragons (and Brennaz)

Thank you for cache. If I had a favourite point I’d give one, I just felt a bit exposed with businesses and traffic at 10:30am.I swapped a trackable with another one
I had a day off from playing Bridge today to go caching instead.
This one put a smile on my dial. I saw the "outer" nano from across the road - lol.
I bit of water inside the container which I emptied out and luckily after hoping beyond hope that I could sign the first log book I found the second one was in my hands in the next place I looked.
Not that much of a fan of nano's. Mainly because I'm hopeless or too impatient when rolling the logs back up. However a nano will probably be my next cache placement - haha,

On an adventure in Hamilton with Supernanny and Jag50. We were lucky, we found the log in the 3rd place we looked, it took us longer to figure out how to put the container back together! A few nanos have lost their kids which is a shame
Down in the Tron with Merlot58 and Supernanny. Supernanny had found this one a long time ago, so left Merlot58 and MrsJag to find this one. We spotted this cache on our approach to GZ, and then just had to find the log. The container seems to be showing some signs of wear as there were a couple of lids missing. This was a fun cache and we emptied out the cockroach before returning the cache.
This is by far the most fun cache. Easy to spot a mile away for a cacher. Then only to find a twist in the tail. Great idea. Favourite point awarded for the cache.
Once at GZ we quickly spotted this cache - a great example of 'hidden in plain sight' - and then just had to locate the log. Unfortunately the container seems to be showing signs of wear as there were a couple of lids missing. Other than that, a fun cache and we enjoyed the challenge. TFTC Brennaz / Cats&Dragons!
We quickly spotted the cache container, and it wasn't long before we had the log in hand. A nice cache which gets a favourite from us. TFTC
Arrived here in the morning with Aiden29. We left Auckland early to do some TOP rated caches in Hamilton before climb the Kakepuku mountain which was the main plan for today. Cache was waving from long distance to us. Hello I am here. Nice hide and idea. Happy we got proper logbook by second attempt. TFTC
I was heading down to meet up with a group of cachers to climb up Mount Kakepuku. I picked up tramyard early as we wanted to target a few high fav caches in Hamilton before the meetup time. We parked across the road from GZ and I think we disappointed the man waving a sign for the church closeby when we didn't enter the carpark. As we crossed to GZ, he headed away. Spotted cache quickly and thankfully we quickly had the log in hand, as it could have taken longer. Very cool concept for a cache. Gets a fav point from me.
In Hamilton for a couple of days work. I had a bit of time before my meetings started to find a few caches. This was one of them. Spotted what I thought might be the cache on approach - thought no that can't be it but it was. Nice one - with a twist too. Put a smile on my dial and a smiley in my stats. TFTC, Biggles.
What a great cache and tribute to nanos, even if you hate them you should come find this cache, very cool. TFTC.
