Tftc! After reading description was worried this would be a dnf. Wasn't sure about tool but geoson is getting good. He was excited to find both bits.
With this, D/T rating I expected the find to be a lot harder. I took a TOTT along but did not need it. We found the gold and then found the well hidden cache and when the log was signed, we were on our way
Found the Camp, found the Nuggets and at least the log.TFTCLieb ' s Gruessli #12442
Haha we should have found this much faster than we did, looked in all the places except the right one somehow. Tftc
Well this had three of us walking around in circles for a hot minute ?? turns out we should have just looked more closely where we started. On a double check of the area when we were about to leave we found the log to sign ???? a great hide
Surprisingly this was a very quick find today. Just looked in obvious places and there it was.
We arrived at the scene of the drover's camp. Nice set up! The more we looked the more potential cache hides we saw. This guy doesn't have a lot of useful possessions but he does have a nice stash of gold. It wasn't long after the gold discovery that the cache was found. Loved this cache idea, thanks Tempo 0.
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 8 - Whyalla Day. I spent the day in the Whyalla area caching to the north and the west. There are plenty of caches around town and I did some including a Lab set along the fore shore. I enjoyed a great walk along the circular jetty. Most of my caching was along the Iron Knob Highway doing more of the trail caches along that part of the road. I did heaps back in 2017 and managed another chunk today. Hot out in the sun, but cool in the shade. I am now getting behind in my logging, so hopefully it will not get much worse. I managed to find a few caches that were DNFd back in 2017, so I am happy about that.My next area was in the reserve. It was very dusty and the main tack was very corrugated. The first cache was the toughest, but just trying everything eventually let me find this one. I am glad it did not take all day. Thanks for the cache Tempo 046518.2 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & What Would Signal Do? A#110**Albida**
A day trip From Port Augusta to Whyalla to explore the area. We could see an entrance into this nature reserve and drove in and then made a short walk to GZ.What an interesting area, with lots of history here. Great to visit this location with an interesting and enticing D/T also. Thanks Tempo Domsky
Ocw the Bebes as we travel from Whyalla to Port Augusta. Stopped for this due to difficulty rating and favourites. Managed to get out car and caravan into the parking area, just. A quick find at GZ for us. Tftc
OCW PelDroedGwin Toeing the caravan to Port Augusta they D/T rating on this one tempted us to pull in and give it a go.A lovely area and thankfully a quick find..which I wasnt expecting it to be ! Tftc
Last night fitzy_1965 and I stayed at the Wilmington Hotel. Old facilities but new air con was a winner! And honest locals as we realised in the morning that we had left the car keys on the dashboard last night! Our plan today was to collect oldies & counties and whatever inbetween whilst making our way back to my cousin's house for a family dinner. All caches found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. This was one of them.A fast find for us today (thankfully, because it HOT!). I had surveyed where I would have put a cache in this situation and found it in the third place I looked.
34,297. Found with minniek during our trip to The Great Leap Forward Mega Event in Adelaide on 29th February 2024.Day 4 : After staying overnight at the Wilmington Pub, we headed out hunting for more Counties, oldies and other interesting caches. We do enjoy meandering around the countryside doing this. Hopefully we will cross off a bunch more South Australian Counties today. Lots of great caches to choose from as well. This was the next cache - and it was a nice quick find once at GZ thankfully - well spotted by minniek. Stamped the log, replaced the cache as found, then we continued on to the next one. Thanks Tempo 0 !! Fav Point !
The honeymoon is now over. A surprisingly nice easy find here today with Hellyonfire. TFTC
On the way to Whyalla to meet up with my geosister H423L for a caching weekend TFTC
A DNF for me. Working in the area and dropped by to check out a cache with so many favourites. Couldnt find by daylight and came back at night to have another go in the dark with a torch but still no luck after about an hour of picking up every stick, rock and random object I could get my hands on. WillTry again before I leave the area to head home and if no luck then I guess Ill have to swing by this way with Manda one day and hope shes got the magic touch.Ive got the bug pretty bad.
On Our travels we stopped for this fun cache, I jumped the gun a bit and asked Tempo0 for assistance and as soon as I did geo hubby had the cache in hand, thanks for such a fun cache and a great hide
I’m no longer on crutches, so I detoured to collect this cache. With the slightly improved mobility I was able to locate the cache relatively quickly this time. A fantastic little set up here with a great backstory. TFTC!
Working our way home from a tour at Maralinga with a group of cachers, mainly from South Australia. Now there is only Geoturtle37, Team Crackers, Micaparamedic and myself. We are having a great time, visiting new, remote locations and finding caches as we go.Some people in the group had already found this one and when we arrived at GZ, it did look like it might take quite some time. Luckily for us, it was found rather quickly. Signed the log and replaced the cache and we were back on the road again. Thanks for placing this cache and bringing us here.
Team Crackers, Micaparamedic, Papi4506 and I are heading back to Melbourne slowly. We are enjoying going to new places (for us anyway) and finding some caches as we go.The others in our group had found this some time ago so Papi4506 and I quietly set a time as we didn't want to hold them up for too long. When we arrived at GZ, I didn't like our chances of making a quick find but couldn't believe our luck when Papi uttered the magical words a couple of minutes after we started looking. Pleased to have a smiley here.Great place for a cache, thank you.
Adelaide to Port Lincoln Road Trip!
Day Two: Quorn to Whyalla.
Weather: sensational.
Having just found a 100+ FP cache up the road a little way, why not stop here too? The only problem was that my phone was almost flat with the recharging cable I brought with me dying earlier today.
In I went, arrived at GZS and started the hunt. Go with your gut instinct seemed to be the common theme in the logs, but I can’t say that I was getting a gut instinct here. With my phone at 2%, I texted for the hint, but the phone died before I got a response. But as is so often the way, once you commence the PAF process, you make the find. The hint was there waiting for me when I finally recharged the phone later in the day.
This is my 100th cache with a D5 rating, earning me diamond badge, and earning another FP for the CO. It would have got one anyway ; I like the way this one has been set up.
Thanks for the challenge Tempo.
It’s officially a Mega!

The favourite points on this cache attracted us, as we didn't have much time and were keen to see some cool cache containers etc. We arrived at a cool little GZ spot with several interesting features that you notice as you look more closely. We were sidetracked by the special tool comment and after looking for a decent time, rumpuslabs utilised the hint. With some extra information, we narrowed our search and still managed to bypass the cache. One more piece of information and voila, there it is. Thanks to the CO for getting back to us quickly and enabling us to walk away with a smiley. Found with rumpuslabs, tftc
The JAMS hit the JLWE and of course we managed to find a few along the way.

We arrived here in the dark this evening and made the walk in, after looking for 30secs we made the find luck was on our side and managed to look at the right thing first here.
This weekend, Courtneyrose_ and I headed over to Kyancutta for the JLWE event, spending 5 days away we headed to Whyalla and Cleve along the way finding caches here and there before the event, before b-lining back home.
Thanks for the cache

TFTC. With a little help from CO it was in hand …. Motto … learn to trust yourself , your gut is usually right the 1st time!
Well, I'll say it's an easy find, but clarify. We have done the Barossa Bike trail. Good training for spotting geocaches. We did one along the Nullabour by the dingo fence, we had to walk 1.4km into the bush. It was a 000 cache. I'm so glad we were able to get this one. Our first D5. Thanks for the cache
It’s been a long time since the driver was here and long time since the fireplace was used. A great adventure - TFTC
After a few days in Whyalla principally to see the giant cuttlefish I was heading home via a few days in Pt Broughton and this was a stop along the way. [^]
I had noticed the favourite points for this cache and decided to come and have a look. Surprisingly it didn't take me as long as I thought it might after systematically discounting various things at GZ. Cool hide. Happy to stamp the log for this one.

Out n about with iluvtrekking on a damp and chilly morning. Took a while. When a previous finder writes ‘easy find’ we groan as it usually puts the kibosh on our effort. Took a while even though our first inspection of that area we overlooked it. Loved the adornments. Thanks for the hide.
What an epic journey we have had, just returned home from the holiday of a life time, we managed to catch up with PP2 for some caching at times, oh the memories and laughter!! Now it's time to catch up with the logging, thank you to every CO who has placed caches for us to find along the way TFTC
One last day for now around Whyalla, the steel city, home of the rusty mint tin...
and found a few clever caches too
Another day of exploring places we otherwise may not have been!
Came to your cache along the way
The camp site may have seen better days. The cache was a neat hide, nice to see some creativity.
Much thanks to Tempo 0 for placing and maintaining this cache on our SA geo game map

Searching with Purrfect Di and Jack the Monkey, finding and signing cache logs alone or with family and friends using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck Plenty of that luck stuff actually!!!
*Logs are composed and published using GSAK of course.*
A couple of maintenance assist tasks on the trail caches too. Looked like there had been some extreme weather since we were here last... oh yep, the floods the day after we left!!!
---
Caching is a hazardous activity!
Keep a lookout for sand traps, snakes, surprise cliffs, boxing roos, wombats, bulldust, and floods,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall out of trees...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- but especially lookout for any old bugs from alpha to omega !!! . [xx(]
Try to keep Travel Bugs as the only bugs you share and pass on
Now everything's opening more - even more important to sanitise and safely distance!!!
Really good of all those placing quality caches out and about around the countryside areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting
Thanks heaps for reading all this addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere, apparently! You win a virtual smile for the effort and getting to the end of the log

The Non Wangaratta Event Tour 2021!
Covid has postponed the Mega in Victoria until January but leave had been granted for AnyMules to attend with me and Bushfire. So Anymules and I went on a tour to Eyre Peninsular and mid north South Australia instead whilst Bushfire joined us in spirit only as covid meant he couldn't come here either. Not needing anything for my yearly goals I hoped I didn't add too many to the DNFs [B)]
Day 3: Exploring around the outskirts of Whyalla.
I was expecting this to take a long time but it was far quicker to find than expected.
Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers from over fifty to single digits. That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]
***Thanks Tempo for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

Away for a week on some R 'n' R from the shop and to recover from an exhausting 10th Birthday celebration for Geostuff. We headed out early to beat the heat and targeted High FP caches and any others in between. This was our first one of the day. Arriving at GZ we loved the campsight and the random bits and bobs scattered about. I had an inkling of where this might be and started there. Within moments I had the cache in hand. Actually I was a bit disappointed that we found it so quickly! Log was signed and replaced, and we stayed a bit longer examining the trinkets. A rare STC FP added for the efforts that have gone into this cache and the fun we had discovering items! TFTC
Found on our Whyalla holiday with hevwalker.....Davidwazza had joined us for a fun day of caching..... we had been able to get the FTF powertrail completed, lunch in Iron Knob and a few extra caches done and a lovely meal at hevwalkers event before heading to the special oldie (05/2001 cache which Davidwazza had told us about that was a must to get whilst we were in the area. After we had got the oldie we felt it was a good idea to leave the car outside the gate seeing night was falling and walk in.......... as the sign at the gate read that the Conservation Park gates closed at night...... It was a quick walk to GZ although we were very wary of snakes after coming across a baby making it's way across the track we were walking along and the orb spiders we had already come across doing the other 2 caches we had found in the park......... We found this cool cache hide quickly with the help of Davidwazza who had previously found it. The cache and log book in good condition. TFTC
After a big day caching the FTF PT with scramping & Davidwazza we pondered at my dinner event whether to do the Whyalla CP park...
We headed out an found the oldie further in the park then left the car outside the gate to walk to this one...we crossed paths on this balmy evening with an unexpected wriggly stick...a baby King Brown...
We arrived at the location and found the cache with some help from David...
It looks like it would have been a cool place when the cache was first placed and it still is even though some of the ornaments have gone...

Day 303 (Saturday 27th) of our trip. Caching along the way. In Whyalla today. A total of 1 for the day and 5886 for the trip. TFTC
This weekend, jesswrigley and I headed to Point Lowly and Whyalla to scuba dive with the cuttlefish, who annually migrate there over the winter months to breed. The cuttlefish were plentiful, with the largest groups that I had seen from several prior visits there. Whyalla was a good little city, but unfortunately due to COVID-19, a number of steelworks and mine tours had been cancelled in the current times.
Similar to the previous day, jesswrigley and I started our day this morning with a final cuttlefish dive at Stony Point. The sun was out, and we had great visibility to see those chameleons of the sea. We then had one final drive around Point Lowly, before driving along the coastal road towards the Point Lowly intersection turn-off, and then onwards into Whyalla. We had a late lunch along the Whyalla's beach/coast, before exploring a few of Whyalla's attractions: Mount Laura Homestead Museum, and Hummock Hill Lookout.
We were driving back to Whyalla, with a full power trail of caches alongside us, but we weren't after numbers today. I had noted that this high difficulty cache had been on my target list, and so we made a short detour to investigate this cache location. Some great attention to detail here, and if it wasn't for this geocache's description, could easily have been fooled in thinking this was a historical bush camp that was once used. After searching around and not having much luck, I messaged the hinted phone number, when the CO (or I presume as much) quickly replied back with a hint. Hmm, it felt like I had already checked around there. So another look, and sure enough the cache was tucked away in its hiding place. Wow, nicely done. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Tempo / Tempo 0 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. A Favourite Point from me for this effort and cache construction.

Who can resist a D5 cache? We stopped and had a look around. Found some interesting things, none that looked like tools. A few minutes later we found the cache. Thanks for the fun.
Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
Today we targeted the Whyalla Conservation Park, starting off with a few premium caches to drop off some travel bugs, then whatever came after that. I just had some treatment on my arthritic knees, so today was going to be a challenge - good or bad. We ended up with a total of 12 out of 14 today.
Ooh, who can't resist the challenge of a D5 cache. So in we went, and had a good look around. Just as I used the hint, the message came back, I had already decided to go a different tactic, and bingo, there was the cache. What a cool camp. Would love to set up here for a while.
Thanks Tempo

Today I travelled from Port Lincoln to Port Augusta. There were so many caches along the way, especially around Whyalla, that I had to be very selective. I chose Silo caches (in the vain hope of finding some Silo Art), caches with a large number of favourites, and them some random ones to fill in the long stretches. This turned out to be a nice quick find. Found it within 2 minutes. After checking a couple of possibilities, I had a thought. Checked it out and I was right. It doesn't happen often for me, but the right idea came early, not late. But nicely hidden anyway.
My thanks to YeahRight80 for the cache.

Nice work at GZ. Well done.
Found the 'tool' needed in first place looked, then found the well hidden cache in the 2nd place I looked. Gotta love that!
Spending a few days in Whyalla and found a few cache, or 300!
Had managed to solve all the puzzles before coming over too.
Of the nearly 300 found on the trip over and back from Adelaide, 95% were found within 50km of Whyalla Central, with approx a dozen dnfs also. Amongst all the finds was my 17000th find.
Also managed a lot of 'unloved' finds too.
What is it with Whyalla and mint tins? lol

Thanks

Another attempt, another DNF and another message to the CO. A quick response came back with a bit more information. There's one more chance to get my name in the logbook.
Another day of caching around Whyalla and it was a case of chalk and cheese with yesterday's success and enjoyment replaced with frustration and irritation.
After two DNF's and two helpful messages from the CO I can finally put a smilie at this location. An intriguing cache which I'm surprised the park staff have allowed to remain.
Thanks for the help along the way and the cache YeahRight. I can rest easy now.

Today's focus was to clean out Whyalla Conservation Park - I had a successful day finding all but one cache in the park. The variety of caches and vegetation, some enjoyable walks and great weather for mid winter made it a very enjoyable day.
This unexpected cache popped up when I marked Whyconpark as found in the GPS. I visited the camp and found the decoys and the tool but not the required cache. Knowing I'd be back this way again in the weekend a sms was sent to the CO and a much appreciated quick response told me to look where I thought I'd exhausted all options. Hopefully better luck tomorrow.

Day 4 of BarnZy and Cravo’s trip from Perth to Adelaide.
Today we travelled from Elliston on the Eyre Peninsula to Whyalla.
We kicked off relatively early, just before sun up and in some intense fog before starting our journey to Whyalla.
We travelled along the Birdseye Highway for the most part of the day, which was a fitting name as we needed an eagle eye to find some of the caches today.
Caching along the highway was good with a great variety of cache containers found, before heading into Lock, which was a very quaint small town, albeit we had little success finding the caches in town.
We moved along the he Cleve Cleaver series which was a great bunch of relatively quick finds, taking just under 2 minutes per cache as we started to get the rhythm of the caches along these parts. Great small power trail which kept us interested with some nice hiding spots.
Continuing along the highway we caches through Cleve, grabbing a few of the nifty letterbox hybrid hides which were most fun, were trying to collect more letterboxes which makes these caches really valuable.
After leaving Cleve we continued along the highway to Cowell, where we enjoyed a nice hot beef roll from the bakery for lunch before continuing up the Lincoln Highway towards Whyalla.
We arrived in Whyalla a little earlier than planned which was good as we had planned to complete the August series trail by torchlight. Before we completed the August series we eyed off a D5 cache Honeymoon Hilton which was an absolutely brilliant cache at a well staged ground zero and a brilliant hide, thankfully we didn’t have to resort to phoning the CO.
We then turned our attention to the August series and loved the quick finds of well setup containers. I thoroughly enjoyed the series.
We then cached around town and managed to pickup the 5/5 Schoolies Challenge, which we had managed to qualify quite some time ago.
We finished up with a great dinner at the camp kitchen at the caravan park we’re staying at.
Great day out and can’t wait to tackle the other Whyalla power trail tomorow.

I had this cache highlighted in the App to make sure we stopped and found this cache, was a ripper a few decoys a staged scene and a cache to find! Have a Fav point.
Day 4 of the Perth to Adelaide trip where we started in Elliston and ended in Whyalla.
Today was about finding as many caches as possible and starting / warming up to the larger power trails that bought is over here.
We completed the cleve clever series with a find every 2 minutes, and the August series with around 2 finds a minute.
The day started with a slight sleep in as the travell today was considerably less all up after the 4th day 2900km travelled.
During the morning we would of done most of it through thick fog yet again for the rest half hour despite a later start to
Anyway we made more tracks to Cleve, Cowell and many more in between.
The day also included B12 getting his 11000th cache on cache “August 11” and a total find tally of 112 caches.
Tempo 0 I found your cache Honeymoon Hilton thanks for placing this hide for myself and others to find.
Dunsborough is where it’s all at this year check it out at GC7GXQA October 13th + 14th. Hope to see you all there at WA Goes Big 2018.

One of the target caches on the trip to whyalla. I do like the effort put in to this cache and the themeing surrounding it. I think it needs another fav point. sorry, not leaving any spoilers.
On a short stay in Whyalla with a mate i said to him on our way back to PA we MUST stop by this one. Walked over to GZ and saw the site. Plenty of interesting and cool things around the area but i was only after one thing . A quick find for me after a search in the spot i suspected it might be A Favourite Point for the craftiness and construction of this one SL at 10:01 on Sat 10 Feb 2018. TFTC YeahRight80
Found with e.gregory1 during a caching foray around Whyalla for the weekend. Thanks for the cache YeahRight80!
Found with Featherwaite on a visit to Whyalla to find a few caches.
We enjoyed the search for this one. Fortunately it didn't take us too long.
Thanks YeahRight80 for the cache. A favourite point from me.

Had a bit of time to kill before the circus, so we made a start on this one. Located the tool, but then it was time to go.... until next time!
Found it with TICE [Hiltsu, J&T, kapeka & laalaa]
We had fun with caching few weeks here in Australia ( South Australia and Northern Territory ). Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and huge country!

Tice (Team Ice: laalaa, J&T., Hiltsu and kapeka) in Australia. Sun was shining and we had fun. Today we drove from Port Augusta to Wyalla, but not the most direct route. Now we were rolling around Whyalla.
Thanks for the cache.

Team ICE on a two week geocaching trip in Australia. Our main target was the Red Centre Experience at Alice Springs but of course we did some caching in other places too. We drove from Adelaide to Alice Springs and then back. We saw lots of interesting and beutiful places like opal mines at Coober Pedy, Ayers Rock and Kata Tjuta. Our rental travelled almost 6500km on gravel and tarmac roads. The weather was great, only on last day we got some rain.
All the caches logged as Team Ice, T-ice or Tice with kapeka, laalaa and Hiltsu. We had a great trip!
Today our journey continued from Port Augusta to Whyalla and back. Some trail caches and others logged on the way.

Not sure about the five star rating but this is an excellent cache hide and my favourite for the day.
Loved working through all the red herrings even if they werent needed at the end,
A beautifully presented cache and a joy to come across.

Out and about exploring Whyalla area with CAD - loved this cache but did need an extra clue to locate it... Thanks for this very entertaining cache hide - well worth another favourite point
Must be my lucky day. I came to look for this cache today with my brother after he told me about it as we were about to drive past it. The difficulty of 5 was a challenge I wanted to try. He had been here before to have a quick look but didn't find it. While he was showing me what he had learnt I was looking around and within a minute I had made what I thought might be the cache and it was. I stirred my brother up a bit about how easy it was but luck may have been with me today. I'm adding a favourite because I have filled an empty spot on my D/T grid and it is a cool cache but mostly because I had a cool time with my brother because of this cache. TFTC
What can we say here without giving the game away? Absolutely fantastic effort & a hunt so much more enjoyable than for most micros, or even larges for that matter. We'd love to wax lyrical about what we found but anything else we say may divulge too much I'm afraid. Another fav point added of course. Thanks heaps YeahRight80.
OMG, this is AMAZING!!! - A favourite point from me!
So many red herrings, so much to find and soak up, your cache reminded me of some of the creativity shown at the Wirrabara JLWE event.
Although I found the tool to open up the final cache, the tool was not required when I finally found the correct cache as the 'plug' was loose in it. I was unable to work out how to tighten it up, so I replaced it as I found it (carefully). The CO may want to check it at some stage.
Found whilst on a road trip with CPwanderer and Locus Cache, with the aim of the weekend to cache in and around Port Lincoln - fresh territory for us all. We certainly had a great time, however with a DNF rate of about 40% [:(!], it was tough going! We did however thoroughly enjoy the beautiful locations and scenery.
After joking all day on the Sunday we should spend another night in Pt Lincoln, circumstances presented that meant we needed to extend our time away! We took it slowly on the way home which enabled us to once again visit some terrific places
Thanks for the cache

Day nineteen of my across the Nullarbor, then to Perth via Denmark trip. Unfortunately I was now on my way back home after a great couple of weeks getting to Perth, I guess it had to happen at some point. Todays destination was port agusta, not far up the road, so spent some time in Whyalla and surrounds finding some select caches.
I had made an attempt at this one about 2 weeks ago with no luck, but with a hint from the CO, I had a better Idea and yes I think I found everything else before the actual cache
**Thanks to YeahRight80 for the cache. TNLN**

Love the effort put into this one-great little site. We found the key soon enough but unfortunately after a long search in the heat, we had to call in for a clue. Cache was discovered soon after, but a little too easily.. may be in need of repair. Kicking ourselves that we didn't look harder in that spot in the first place. Thanks for the effort that has gone into this. Lovely to find these unique caches along our trip.
