We spent most of today in the Whangrei Heads area and picked up a few caches along the way. Visited Ocean Beach briefly but not a nice enough day for a swim! This cache was a quick find. #8042. TFTC.
What a stunning beach. Fab day for a walk. Thank you wouldn't have come here but for the cache.
Delightful walk! Stunning views!! Super easy find. Needs fun prizes. Log book only. Bring your own pen.
Rattll and I had parked up the campervan for the night at Ocean Beach. GZ was only a short walk from the carpark, and I found it deserted. A quick find. All good inside the container. Signed, and returned as found. Tftc!
Have taken this photo as proof of life for this beautiful cache. Had rolled away a bit so placed where it should be. thanks for plsco
Short and easy wall out to the beach. Quick find close to the surf club view platform.
After a silent night at the freedom camp and after the Hurrikan I found this cache.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Muddy section to cross to get to the short path. Had to lay down a log. Quick find with kan0e, ekitten and LI0Npaw.
We stayed the night at the nearby car park. So in the evening, we went out to the beach and also had a look for this cache. Thanks for hiding it here!TFTC #2230, 2023-01-05
Before we stayed the night at the carpark we searched for this cache and could find it after a short search.
A nice quick find. A lot of people at the beach this evening. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are off on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland to visit family. Up to Northland for a few days, cruised to Whangarei Heads and back via a Celebration Event in Onerahi. Another great day.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

Mrs TW and I stopped at Ocean Beach for the Ad Lab here, and of course we had to find the nearby trads as well. And having come all the way out here we couldn't leave without getting a View of the Beach. The GPS pointed the way, and Mrs TW quickly spotted the cache. A lovely beach, thanks for showing us.
Headed out here to Ocean Beach for the day, lovely beach, not to busy today. Back & forth a bit until we found the correct base. TFTC
Nice trip here today to Ocean Beach, pitty about the weather.
Beautiful spot and not too busy today. finally found the correct base. TFTC

With gorby who needed to do some maintenance on one of his caches
Decided we needed to take the short walk to the beach, and this nearest cache, as we need to be back in the city for an event at Astroboy.
It is that golden hour, so the beach looks amazing.
A fun find, thanks again for the hide and the adventure Riser5

A few weeks ago I asked rustynz where she wanted to have her 8000th milestone cache to land on. I knew it was coming up soon. She suggested among other caches Mnt Manaia in Whangarei. My ears pricked up… yes! That’s where we should go. Mnt Manaia was supposed to be the place my 4000th cache was meant to be back in 2016. But on the day, the track was under maintenance and so we had to plan somewhere else.
So once that plan was on the go, the ball really started rolling, supernanny suggested a weekend away there too, so I asked Nicholas (Riser5 master of the CITO) if he wanted to organise a CITO for us and we’d come up from Auckland to Whangarei and join him. Once he had a definite date, I booked myself in for 2 nights.
Once I had done needed maintenance and replaced my cache, rusty suggested we walk here too, still have time before her event coming up at 6pm, so off we went. Lovely out here today and the cache was spotted before I actually got to it, thanks Riser5 for the hide. Now it's time to head straight to rusty's event.

Found it on Anzac Day, no pen to fill in the log. Lots of wasps about . Very easy find. Such a beautiful beach . Will fill in log on next visit.
I had the day off work so decided to collect some caches while out for a drive. A nice quick find here, and a beautiful beach to visit, TFTC
The weather was grey and overcast with rain threatening, so we made an early start to explore this area. The beach was almost deserted apart from a couple of intrepid surfers. Once at gz the cache was quickly located. Great views from here. TFTC
Love the colourful log! Another easy find on s lovely autumn afternoon at the beach.
Was visiting Ocean Beach to watch an Ultimate Frisbee tournament for the weekend. Glad I decided to open my geocache app before I left to find this one. A beautiful location. Tftc
This was where we spent the first night in the campervan, and what a perfect place to stay.
We managed to grab the last freedom camping spot, had some dinner and then went for a stroll on the beach.
A quick find here as we enjoyed the views from here.
Thanks for putting this here for us to find.
We left a pet rock - a sheep.

We spent the night in the SCC nearby. After a good breakfast we went for the cache and a view of the beach. Both container and logbook were in good condition. Thanks for the cache
Quick find on my way back down from the naval radar post! Lovely beach here, becoming one of my new NZ favs for sure!
Touring the far north and Auckland region with Flowerydaze. After the postponement of the Mega we decided to come north anyway and take time out for caching. Lovely area and lovely weather. TFTC.
Talla 64 are enjoying a few days in Whangarei and checking out the local caches. Beautiful day and a QEF thanks to a helpful hint and good co-ords. TFTC.
Am Ocean Beach den herrlichen Strand genossen und den Surfern bei Flut und tollen Wellen zugeschaut. Am Aussichtspunt von David Hasselhoff diese kleine Dose ohne Probleme gefunden und geloggt.
At Ocean Beach you enjoyed the beautiful beach and watched the surfers at high tide and great waves. At the lookout point of David Hasselhoff this little can found and logged without any problems.

Parked up at ten nearby car park, and headed to the fabled Ocean Beach. Not disappointed at all and plenty of potential for future visits. Checked the phone after turning data on and sawa nearby option. Nice easy find and all good. Replaced as found.
A caching day of three halves today. The first part of the day was spent up the top of Parihaka which I'd been eyeing up since last visit but we managed to get a few whilst up that way along with mrs c, son Ed and the 3 year old twins, a 2 year old and little Mahlia in the carrier on his chest. All this overlaid with yet another scorcher of a day and good fun and sweating was just the trick. For the rest of the day we headed out to Whangarei Heads for a first trip out that way and with a timing for low tide on Ngunguru spit to be made we didn't stay too long out there.
Good variety today and some awesome scenery, again. Thanks to all COs.
After a weekend in Wellington and catching up with my UK based mother and her cruise trip to NZ, we made the most of being up here on the North Island and added an extra 6 days in Northland to the trip itinerary. We flew up to Auckland on Sunday afternoon and after a faff around with a hire car we took the scenic/dark route up the Helennsville highway to the North. Arrived late on Sunday night and straight to sleep. We had a week with son Ed and his 4 under 3 years old children. Fun time was had and some nice experiences.

After completing the loop up to the top, stopped by to get this one on the way back down. Legs are tired but saw some awesome views. Thanks for this one!
Passing by here today. Made a quick grab at GZ.

Found at the end of day 17 of our TA thru-hike. It's been a long day, but this is a beautiful place to spend the night!
Found this on our way to hike the Bream Heads trail. Winter weather is a bit uncertain, but we persevered through high winds and torrential rains. The view was beautiful for a moment when the clouds parted just for us. Most memorable trek.
Found during the sightseeing trip with Hinke. Nice location and a wonderful beach. THX Ritze & Hinke
