Pleased with myself for perseverance- its a bit of a walk in. Logs helpful. A tott that I found in the ground was useful as was being systematic. Thanks for the cache Saltie
A great hide in a nice little hide. We saw some birds having a bath which amused us before the earnest search began. Took a while but got there. No mozzies here in winter
After 30 minutes and numerous times saying to myself to give up, did one last check and there is was. TFTC
On the 29th December 2012 I placed this guy, gee that is few years ago, time flies. This cache along with over a hundred and fifty others have been adopted out to other folk who I hope are happy to look after these guys as the ageing Bushfire has developed a health problem that will only get worse so a big thanks to all these great friends. Finally, I must thank my good friend Saltie for looking after this guy as it has got to the stage when I must pass it on and wish it good luck for the future. I know it is in good hands. Thanks for all the great logs that have been placed over many years.
Ahhh! Mozzies!! A quick systematic search with a TOTT had the cache in hand and I quickly fled the scene. TFTC!
Let’s go streaking they (HQ) said. Well ok….
This months challenge isn’t a favourite of mine anymore but with some strategy it should be achievable.
Today is day 4 of 28
I have looked at the map many times when visiting my dad in Leopold and have wanted to get to this reserve to find the clutch of caches. The kids have gotten to an age where we can go for good walks so today we decided we’d head here for some pre lunch exercise. Apart from the haul of caches we also spotted wallabies, a (dead) possum, several bird species and a bunch of flora that we don’t have up in the north east of Vic. The girls had a great time and we couldn’t have asked for better weather.
All caches were in good nic and found relatively easily.

What a tranquil and beautiful location. We stopped for a while here, and can’t understand why the birds enjoy it. The bird hide itself was full of spiderwebs, and we brushed a few of these away before beginning now search.
Thanks Bushfire. A FP for this awesome location.

We'll, I'm glad I had Andy with me for this one today. I quickly worked out a likely location then saw a few hairy spider legs poking out. Bugger that! I'm out!
With me giving directions from about 4m away (aka a safe distance), Andy soon had the cache in hand for me to sign.
Thanks to Bushfire for placing this and Saltie for continuing to keep it alive (but not the spiders!)

Found it , This one wasn't collected the first time we were here as it as a bit out of the way. I couldn't help myself and had to come back just for this one. After spending about half an hour looking and poking, was just about to give up and suddenly there it was. I must of hit it at some stage but didn't know. Anyways this gave me great joy and now all in this reserve were found. Tftc
Visiting from Canberra and found this cache on a caching tour of Ocean Grove with our dear friends suss vulture. Half of each of our teams power walked to this one from the car park which was a lovely stroll in a beautiful area, and very informative and mind-provoking conversations about science of all things! At GZ it took a while for us to find as even the company I was with couldn't remember how it was placed. With help from previous logs and some trial and error it was found soon enough. Nicely hidden and in a thrifty container. TFTC!
Not so quick find for us today! Previous logs helped! Great hide!

Just checking nearby caches and to my surprise there was one at the hide I’d been to before looking for birds. So back we went geocaching and birdwatching - my 2 favourite pastimes. Heaven! Thanks for the hide in the hide!
This one was very frustrating.. but perseverance and a lot of poking with a thin stick made us eventually feel the metal obstruction.
That took perseverance just about to give up read some more logs poke here poke there and everywhere else finally hitting the right spot. Definitely a bushfire special thanks for the hunt and to saltier continuing to keep it in play. The mozzies weren't too bad today, some water still there but no birds. Nice to have extra eyes and hands TFTC
First check since adopting this cache from the ageing Bushfire!!

We were heading to Ocean Grove Beach to have a fish and chip dinner with our granddaughter and her parents. We have been to the Ocean Grove Nature Reserve several times, and we hadn't ventured back to this cache. It was a lovely cool afternoon, and we enjoyed walking through the reserve. We arrived at GZ and looked for quite a while before discovering the cache. The cache is in great condition. Thank you for this cache, Bushfire.
Found the mozzies. I did not come prepared! Put my jumper back on and it seems I've come out unscathed. Found on the second sweep with my phone torch and a stick. I can't understand why someone would like sitting here with all the mozzies. Second last one in the reserve, then I've found everything in Ocean Grove! Tftc.
A sneaky little one. But after checking the usual suspect locations we turned up A-OK. This was my 100th cache. Nice milestone.
Found with FUF009.
The point of the day was to make it to The Sims family bbq event in the evening.
To fill in the rest of the day we decided to head to Ocean Grove and just do what we wanted.
We found a cache at the Ocean Grove Nature's Reserve but didnt plan to do the whole lot as I didnt think Id be able to do the lot.
Well, we ended up doing the whole thing and I loved it. Fortunately I read that the mozzies were fierce here so we coated ourselves in bug spray but eventually that sweats off so we still got a few hardy little buggers trying for a meal.
I haven't spent too much time in this area but will definitely be pushing to come back as we barely scratched the surface.
Later in the day, we got to the Ocean Grove coastline and saw the ocean and got blown about by the wind.
By the end of the day, I was sunburnt and windburnt. Still happy as a pig in mud. A nice area.
Later in the day we cached around Ceres and Deakin Uni.
All in all a good day.
Thanks to the hiders.

We decides to head down to Ocean Grove then make our way around Geelong and finish off catching up with fellow cachers at the evenings event in Ceres
We were only going to get 1 in this area but the terrain looked ok so we headed around the park and managed to find them all here.
The only things we had trouble with was the mozzies in a couple of areas and the 2 large trees that were down on the West Track. But these just made for an interesting walk.
Made a quick find, but I was still on the menu for a dozen or so mozzies.... i was not quick enough

After spending the morning caching In Portarlington, followed by lunch, we headed back for a rest at the HH and then started getting itchy feet again lol So we set off to find the 2 remaining caches in this park. GMelb had found the rest when we were staying in Ocean Grove once before. He had had an attempt at this one whilst JMelb was at Kyo, but wasn’t able to find it, so hoped 2 sets of eyes would help this time. We arrived at the park just after 5pm so parked outside the park due to their being a sign saying the gates close at 5pm and headed off to this cache. It is so great that a) lockdown has finished and b) Day Light Savings has started and so we had plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings. We found OG NR9 then headed here. We saw more trees and branches down on the way. We started looking and then looked at previous logs as the most recent log indicated there was help within, which there was… Suddenly GMelb had the cache in hand ! Yey, glad to turn the frown into a smiley and very happily the walk from outside the carpark contributed to this day’s step total which is the highest ever since I have had my watch. Woohoo

After having completed other bird hide caches by Bushfire, we knew what we were getting ourselves into! Instantly we had an idea of where the cache could be. Using a tool that we acquired off the ground we systematically poked and prodded until the cache was safely in our hands!
Found by members of Changing Tracks Disability Services who after not finding it the first time were determined to come back and get it! Very tricky find but found in the end with a little help from a stick.

A great day out for an afternoon walk and a hour and half from home. The day was cool but not wet or windy, so this was a great afternoon to be had amongst the trees and geocaches.
An oldie but a goodie.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for placing this geocache here for us to find today. We have been eyeing this location off for some time, but with the wet weather and risk of mud underfoot we didn't plan the day until recently when we knew the ground would be dry and not too wet in the grasses,

A classic Bushfire cache. Always makes you think. Took us a bit. Previous logs helped.
Again another day that does not seem to know if it would like to rain or be sunny. We had already made the decision to do the walks at Ocean Grove Nature Reserve. Most of the walk was fine just very windy, then towards the end the rain happened. The only cache that needs any attention is OGNR 10, Banksia Trail - Black Stump as the log is quite wet, all the other caches are in good condition.
We saw workers but they were away from where we were wandering, there were the sounds of animals that scurried away from us into the bush and there was a good variety of birds. The paths are in good condition which made for easy walking.

I found this one a month or so ago but didn’t have a pen, so thought I’d come more prepared this time. Frustratingly it wasn’t in the same spot as I found it last time although the hide was still the same if that makes sense. The log is full but could still take a few names yet, I’ve seen much fuller. I’ve enjoyed all the hides/finds in here, thanks to all the CO’s!
After setting up the caravan i had a few hours to myself for some caching before the rest of family Perpetuallylost arrived at the caravan park.
I had tried to do the caches in this reserve over Easter but the tracks were being renovated the day i was here so i left it for another time. Now that we were staying over Queens Birthday weekend it was time to try again. I arrived here about 3pm hoping to have a few finds before gate closure time but as i found out a few caches later they don't do that anymore so the challenge now was complete the whole reserve.
Found after a methodical search, fortunately i was carrying a good selection of geotools with me which made the search and retrieval easier. Good logical place for the cache too but still glad i found it, no PAF required phew!
Waterhole was full but no birds around at this time.Thx Bushfire ftc, great hide. FP from me!

A lovely walk around the park, finding some caches and having a good chat. The weather was unseasonably warm and skinks and baby lizards were scuttling under our feet all morning. It's awfully dry throughout the park, hopefully the winter brings some much needed rain and can fill some of the waterholes.
This waterhole is bone dry. The bird hide was in good working order though, we were able to give it a good look, up and down - then I had to PAF! We got there in the end with some much needed help! Thanks for the cache Bushfire, favourite point added!

Wow that was hard! PAF needed due to limited time today. Cheers Ausfox. Must have had my hand near it a dozen times! Thanks for the hide bushfire!
Sneaky little hide here but thankful that we had the time to search without feeling like we were invading someone’s space. It was such a beautiful day, an amazing breeze. Would love to come back during winter when it’s not so dry.
Out for a days caching with 6hinemoa2, bogonghazy and Tess. A very hot day, 37 deg, for a long and thirsty walk around the nature reserve. All quite fatigued by the time we finished. thanks Bushfire
Out with sorceysal and bogonghazy today after the CITO in Lara. Perfect co ordinates led to the nicely hidden cache. bogonghazy made the find here today.

Firstly, apologies for the lateness in logging.
Despite my tardiness, you can be assured I enjoyed each and every cache found and not found.
Apologies if this is a generic log, my memory is good, but not that good.
Was out for the day with 6hinemoa2, Sorceysal and Tess the geodog.
Thanks again Bushfire, sadly there was a dead ringtail possum when we were there

Thanks for the cache Bushfire, and your continued maintenance. A very pleasant afternoon for a wander . Such a shame Parks seem to ignore the area, apart from some clearing of fallen trees, little maintenance evident in the area. Perhaps best if left alone. One would think if Cinnimon Fungus was present that appropriate facilities would be available to clean footwear?? At least.
Mozzies are still hungry. Yes, plenty of tyre tracks from pushbikes. We were going to add ours as well, until we saw two signs prohibiting use of bicycles. Returned bikes to car and used Shanks Pony instead. Sadly no water at the bird hides.

A mid-week day off work so I grabbed the deadly treadly and headed down to Geelong to do a few short trails.
Filled in some of the Version II of AB4C, the Bike trail Baanip, and around the park at the Ocean Grove Nature Reserve.
Not too hot for a ride today.
Not sure about the W.P. bit. All that was there was a dry hole!
Unfortunately, for me, I didn't find the cache either.
I shall return.
Thanks, Robmc.

Decided to try the last 2 caches in this park today. I couldnt find the first birdhide cache so decided to come here and try this one. After looking around a bit I checked previous logs and then decided to poke around a bit and found it pretty quickly.
We stopped to watch a beautiful wallaby have a drink while we logged our names. Lovely spot. Definitely micro and takes a bit of prodding around.
As I was searching some New Holland Honeyeaters came down for a drink, but that was all. In the end I had to PAF ony to find that I had pushed it further in while searching!
A nice pleasant afternoon and a bit of time opened up for a quick caching trip. I've been meaning to come back to the Nature reserve in Ocean Grove for a while now to look for a few more of the caches hidden inside. It seems like a bit of an unknown treasure even to the people who are down this way regularly and again I had the place to myself to enjoy the walk.
I've had a bad experience at another cache involving a bird hide before so I approached this one with caution and was keen not to have to hang around too long. This one took a bit of finding however. After an initial scan in all the likely hiding spots came up blank I spotted what looked like a previously used tool so decided to give that a go and even though I thought it hadn't worked when I changed angles I spotted the now visible hide. Thanks for the cache Bushfire.

Well this one was a hunt to locate. I do not suggest crossing the bush to get to the a there is a grove of black boys which are beside a grove of very spikey plants. Eventually discovered it and the flies were very active today but a good dose of insect repellant cleated the room.
Out for a walk with the family on a lively warm day. On a previous visit here I found the breeze to be quite pleasant and was hoping this would be the case again today. For the most part it was but did not stop all from getting hot and sweaty.
Thanks Bushfire for the cache.

I enjoyed visiting the OGNR, saw a few wallabies, josiey caught malaria, and I found 10 of 11 geocaches that were sought. This was despite the phone GPS function being inaccurate by several metres the whole time we were there.
The dead huntsman spider did not prevent the find.

Took a bike ride around this Nature reserve to find the caches and enjoy this patch of original vegetation. Thanks for this series, Chan 5456. This was the trickiest that I found. The other bird-hide one eluded me!
Down in the area for the Christmas Event that was held close by at Barwon Heads so decided to call in and check on this guy only to find that all was good with this cache.

There was a bit of time to fill in between the lunch time event and the dinner event in Lara and this group of caches looked like an excellent way to fill in the time by going and finding them so Jascat joined me for the wander around the Ocean Grove Nature Reserve.
Circling around the back of the reserve, we came to this one next and it was a tricky little sucker, even though I looked along where it is I couldn't see it be with a PAF, I was sent back to where I had been for a better look, the cache was then found.

After The Annual Christmas Event it was time to do some caches so I came along with Bushfire to find the caches in this area. Bushfire had two in this reserve that he hadn't found, so we were both able to get all the finds in the Ocean Grove Nature Reserve. I never knew this reserve existed, and I was happy to get the introduction with eleven caches! Bushfire brought our bikes along so that we could ride the trail and all the caches here were exceptional. Sorry I could not do unique logs for these caches but I have a lot to log after today. Thanks for the tour of this little reserve and all the fun caches along the way!
Lucky strike in the first place I looked! Great relief as this was a DNF nearly a year ago when I walked these trails. No birds around as it is still pretty dry. TFTC
Find #3642. Found @ 15:37 with The Good Lady Wife, j-bean and skirrel.
We're in Portarlington on a getaway, and getting in some caching is a part of that plan. We had to back-track a bit on our clockwise tour of the reserve to get here. It took a great deal of looking before I made the find, however the girls got tired of looking long before that, and went off to the next one [sigh]. J-bean and I stayed until I'd made the find, although he got tired of searching, leaving me to do all the work. [sigh]. Well, at least they're all here getting some exercise and fresh air.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.

Having braved the night horrors during the "100 in a day" challenge, we have returned to the OG Reserve... in daylight. I also have brought back-up - SueHut is out with me for a date day. Now, SueHut had already done this one, so her level of help was to walk away looking for birds. She regaled me with how she and DesHut spent ages and ages looking for this one, so she was a little miffed when it took less than two minutes. Oh well.
Thanks heaps Bushfire!

Out for a spin together -- Jinky's return to the fray. This afternoon the Ocean Grove Nature Reserve was our target. This required some scrutinising with an intense scrut. Coincidentally we ran into Bushfire as we were leaving, and John showed him the tool he had used. Definitely useful and turned a devilish hide into something more manageable. TNLN, SL, TFTC!
Found during our walk in this great reserve. Took a bit of searching but we were successful in the end. Thanks for the cache.
While in the area I decided to check out this cache that does not get many visitors but plenty of room in the very dry log, so all good for some time.
After a grabbing a couple of new caches in the area we couldn't leave without getting this one too!!
Unfortunately or maybe fortunately... depends on your perspective, we took a wrong trail and needed to do some back tracking. I have to say this nature reserve is very over grown and at serious risk of fire... maybe thats just our background speaking though.
Geokid takes over the log: geodad said theyd be "somewhere" so he shone a light and geokid found it. of course we had to get a stick, we retreived it. TFTC.

OMG..... we did not take the hint warning seriously, we wandered into the bird hut without the appropriate protection and were eaten alive, it actually stopped us from searching for the cache. So I'm not going to log this as a DNF, because we really didn't get a decent opportunity to look.
Future catchers, take the WARNING , take a can of mortein and spray first, then make sure you are covered in appropriate aeroguard yourself! We will return for another look at some time. TFTH.

After finding our intended target (The large Cotainer "The Banksias") we couldn't leave the area with caches still to be found. So even though we were short on time we made the walk up to this little guy who was very well hidden. After a short search Neville_devil's keen eyes spotted the little fell in his hiding spot. We quickly added our names to the list and returned him to await his next luck finders.
Thank you Biushfire for the cache in this lovely area

Headed down to the Bellarine Peninsula to clean up some unfound caches this evening after finishing work. With the weather being perfect for caching we also got the added bonus of a stunning sunset. Lucky the gatekeeper hadnt been to lock the gates tonight so we drove down to the end of the road and made our way along the different tracks to the bird hide. Unfortunately we didnt spy any wildlife tonight but we did hear some birds serenading us on our walk. The sneaky hide was found after eliminating the obvious spots first and found in the less obvious hiding position. Now to get out of here before we do get locked in!
Thanks Bushfire for placing a cache here in this reserve for us to enjoy.

Thought we may have to pull the pin on this one when super Geo-Dad gave the familiar "found it" call. Nice hide.
Saw a big fat echidna as well.
