Campsite is currently closed for tree assessment following the recent storms. Thankfully though still able to access for this cache. Nice placement and great to score another find over 1000m. TFTC
Merging my accounts. Found this as "Ambers007" on 17/05/2013. Now tracking together with "Hoterini" and merging the old finds.
25 June 2024 12:11.Stopped here to have lunch after signing Big Ben.A wonderful shelter which we enjoyed having lunch in as it started to rain. As if it was a miracle, the rain stopped as we finished lunch, so back in the car as there was more caching to be done.Thank you cameroncarpet.
25 June 2024 11:15amOn day one of our honeymoon in Tasnania, catnap777 and I made our way up this hill via Launceston to see if we could visit Big Ben. We had no drama driving up far enough to find the "old school" cache placed in 2003, and a little further to join the "kilometer high" club by finding this one. Being mid ski season though, with no swow chains aboard, we has to turn our rig back from here before reaching Jacobs Ladder. Driving up this road we now have two very cool caches ticked off our bucket list, but seeing the summit of Ben Lamond one day is still a high priority for both of us. [^]TFTC cameroncarpet.
TFTC. Cache and contents are in excellent condition. Im coming back for a camp Ill bring my own firewood though
Big thanks to cameroncarpet for creating this cache! Your effort brought an extra spark of excitement to our geocaching quest. This discovery was find number 1,107 for us, marking another memorable moment in our adventure. Living and traveling full-time across Australia in our Coaster Bus, we're always on the lookout for caches to uncover. Currently, we're in Tasmania, planning to explore this beautiful island for around 18 months or so. To see more of our travels, [feel free to follow our journey here https://linktr.ee/SalandAnth
Great view! Stayed up at this campsite to ride up the mountain the next day. Thanks for the cache!
Camping up here, in preparation for my son A_Gull to ride in a bicycle race up the road from Blessington to the top of Ben Lomond in the morning. A look at the app showed there was a cache just a few metres away, so we went to look for it, after checking the glorious view from the lookout. All good at GZTFTC
We stopped here on the way up the hill for this cache and decided it would be a good place for lunch. The GPSr was playing up a but, replaced the batteries and it did a little better. The cache is in good condition. Thanks for the hide cameroncarpet.
Walked up Legges Tor then stopped here for a picnic. A very friendly currawong wanted to share. Tftc
Thanks . After driving to the top in heavy fog and hardly being able to see a thing I called in here on the way down for a quick find.
We continued today our tour in Tasmania, AUS, and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Traditional-Cache.
The weather was - said in one word – simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood.
The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging.
Thanks to cameroncarpet for the generation of this nice cache Cache 1000 (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.
PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they appeared.
Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood.

Over the long weekend xxDouDouxx and I made a plan to knock off several challenge caches including caches from "Old School Challenge" GC44WV0 and "Tasmanian Mainland LGA Challenge" GC8CGMX, as well as a few caches for various statistic grids. I'm happy to say LGA is now complete and Old School is well on the way. A fantastic, busy, and adventure filled 3 days was had, covering 1500km from Huonville, to Ben Lomond, then Georgetown, across the top to Burnie, down through Waratah, Queenstown, and back to Huonville. Lots of great caches, new places to explore, fantastic views, and interesting locations...
What an awesome little campsite. It would be great to stay here. No time to continue on to the village today so I may be back in the future. Thanks for hiding a cache here

Even after finding over 900 I still approach and make silly simple assumptions that turn out to lead me astray. The answer is to walk away and follow the compass. TNLN TFTC!
Did someone say leaches? That was almost enough to make me flee. Enjoying cool mountain breezes on a warm day so hopefully am safe from the little squirmy things
Hello, We found your cache on day #11 of our Lap year trip.
Selling up our hobby farm in South Gippsland and putting everything in storage we are now living on the road full time in our caravan and ‘doing a lap’.
Sorry for the generic log, time, data and reception are all factors in the decision to use a copy and paste log, we will always endeavour to leave a photo or two with each log and always leave a favourite point and unique comment(S) where applicable for the truly outstanding caches.
Earth, Virtual, letterbox handmade and Gadget caches are always at the top of the list for us to find.
Thank you for being one of the CO’s who supplied us with a cache to find today.
Cache in good condition.

Today was Day 1 of a short trip up north with RLD4963. As the weather was looking good we decided to make our way to Ben Lomond this afternoon. Although I've been up Ben Lomond a few times, I did not know this little camping and picnic area was here - nice spot. There were some people having a barbie in the picnic hut but they took no notice of us - a short search and we added our names to the log.

out and about with Lil Rafa caching for the work days. easy find with clues. TFTC TNLN log dry.
Great lookout, the weather cleared just enough to get a view. This is also when we realised a couple of leeches had attached themselves to us.
Found this one while ofln a day trip to the mountain, really enjoyed the view near it. Thanks for a good cache
Just on another family adventure for the day and thought we would tackle all the catches on the way up the Mt.

Would have been a DNF if not for goose having better coords from a past finder, added our names to the logbook with a big smile on our faces.
Spot was busy which was a surprise but people must come here for other things than caching
thanks for the cache.

I had different coordinates to my companions. Stainless steel rat and 1toolman had the phones but I had the real GPS here and we kept disagreeing as the where GZ was. I had updated coordinates provided by Sirius Tas (thanks mate) and when we focused on mine we did find GZ. I'm glad we took the time to read some old logs and note the better coordinates otherwise we would have added to the string of DNFs before us.
Just noticed that many other finders noted the better coords in their logs, right back to Swampy.
Thanks cameroncarpet

Searched all around for this at both sets of co ords but couldn’t find anything under any rocks or in anything. Hopefully there for another day.
Found on our way home from Rovers Ski Logde - no skiing this weekend so thought a good chance to go searching - very prickly bushes
Nice day for a drive up Ben & a few geocaches today so we set off for these. This was easy & rewarded us with a nice view aswell:) tftc
First stop in Ben Lomand NP and after minutes of ineffective searching I had the great idea to read the cache listing - that makes things easier ! Then the box was found within seconds and the log could be signed .

Another fabulous day in beautiful Tasmania - lots of driving through forests; walking up and down dales and of course caching.
This was #4 of 8 finds. A quick find using the new coordinates. Pa had contemplated camping here but we are already running out of time. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us to enjoy cameroncarpet. Signed log and returned the little fellow to his hidey hole.

Hi there cameroncarpet.
We found your cache **"Cache 1000"** at 11:15:00 AM today. (This brings our total find count to 18526).
The original plan today was to log a random cache some distance from our camp site, and then find a few more caches using the "next closest" method. We then logged "Ben & Back" & thought why not - we will do that instead - - and we had a great day!
We ended up finding a variety of container types and sizes on our journey & found 15 caches (& DNF'd 0).
Thank you for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places to visit on our nomadic wander around Australia.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Searched for 20min but couldn't see the updated coords...can't understand why CO can't update them, as obviously way out. Will come back to do the caches up on top and have another go at this one. Nice spot though...cheers ST.

I have attached some new coordinates.
I was a good 22m away from this one and possibly would not have found this without the coords posted in previous logs.
A brilliant view over the glacial U shaped planes.
Thanks to cameroncarpet and *clear skies* from TeamAstro. Cache the planet!

Reading the 1st paragraph makes it easy to find. Although I'm surprised my brain worked,it's freezing up there!!! TFTC
As with others before us, we operated on the adjusted coords, though for some strange reason they still led us somewhat astray. Once the "found it" call came though, it was still well within the ambit of GPS accuracy. We had a brief thought that at 1000m this may be our highest find to date but it turns out it fell just 78m short. [Blue]Find # 1961. Thanks for the cache cameroncarpet TNLN.[/Blue]

#1803 - well serendipity rules. Found by B but just as he was about to commence searching along walks down Paul H who we last saw descending the road into Corinna a week ago. It does help being on brightly coloured bicycles, but....that's serendipity for you. All part of the fun and challenges on our AroundOz bicycle tour. Many thanks to cameroncarpet for establishing and maintaining this memorable cache. We tried to find it on our ride up to no avail then checked the logs and used new co-ordinates to locate on our return. Yep, there it is as it should be at the replacement co-ordinates which should be updated by the CO. Worthy of a favourite point because we cameacross Paul H there by absolute accident.
