Nicely themed cache, sun out today. Tftc doheng

Little too cloudy for sun. Like the light

This one really caught our attention as it differs greatly in its method of harvesting energy from the sun. We have read and heard of installations such as this but have never had the opportunity to see one. All was working well, and there certainly was a bright glow on the collectors.A favourite from us for the location and the themed container.Just a few caches today in the local area as re recover from big days on the Paddle Steamer.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache doheng.**SKI Pair****

Quick find. Nicely themed container. fav point.Out with Mogni for a 3 day weekend, leaving friday morning and coming back sunday night. The plan was to go to Cowangie in Victoria and then head in to Murray-Sunset National Park then head on to Mildura and come back via Rufus River road ( in New South Wales ) to South Australia. Night 1 was in the Murray-Sunset National Park at Mopoke Hut camp ground and Night 2 at Mildura then going back to Adelaide. It must have rained recently in Murray-Sunset since the sand wasn't like fine power as expected and other sections of the National park had bypass tracks around the water filled ruts in the main track. Going around one of the bypass tracks i staked a tyre on the friday but didn't notice it to saturday morning. The stake went right beside the tread and the inside wall of the tyre, the stake was the size of my finger tip. Also turns out that i got a screw in my rear tyre thrusday night leaving work. There was alot of reinflating tyres this trip. The flora change in the national park was surprising but i figured that is due to weather or not the ground was sandy or muddy. When we got to Mildura we targeted the 2 multi's mogni wanted to do and of course they were the ones with 7 and 11 stages. After that we targeted the caches with high amount of favourite points and then left the next day via New South Wales so we could get the virtual at Lake Victoria and some of the older 2003 around the border track. A good weekend away 4x4ing.

Southern Autumn adventure Day 60. Mildura Trip Day 9. The time had come to start heading home, but I did not want to go directly and was keen to visit Echuca to finish the River Travel Adventure labs. It turned into a long day and it started with some detours as I started south to get my first batch of caches done. Then I set out following the navigation device and let me say, it is not the way I would have gone, there were some very narrow roads, but no dirt. I then passed a county I had not been to before, but missed the Map section I needed, that was annoying. My day ended with a walk around Echuca for a few caches and the LABs along the water front. It was well and truly dark by the time I reached my roadside camp for the night.

This solar farm was a great surprise. I have not been close to a working sun aggregation farm before. Even from the side, the brightness of the collectors was stunning.

Thanks for the cache doheng

The cache was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked. Thanks for placing a fun cache guys. We do love your work. We signed the logbook. Of course we did that is way we play this game. Cache in pretty good condition for the cache age.

I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count.

This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and a Samsung S8. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs...

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

TFTC. With regional victorians able to travel we decided to take the opportunity to head to Mildura to attempt the PS series. First we had to drive from Maryborough, so of course we stopped where we could find a cache. Thanks to all the cache owners. We will make special comments where applicable.
Quick detour off the highway for a quick find.

Sitting at my computer during these Covid lockdowns, I am trying to catch up on a few logs that I haven't sent in yet.

Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.

Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.

Sorry for the late log, something I am notorious for. Thank you for adding to the adventure that is geocaching.

Thanks doheng for the cache.

Very nicely done.
Really like the container and the well themed cache.
A fav point from us.

Having looked at the site after collecting the lovely cache, which had been here since 2013,
the site looks defunct and minus the dishes.
Or guess is that it didn’t perform as expected.

Suscoe was heading to Mildura this morning from Ouyen and we had a number of caches to visit as we travelled northwards.
It was a delightful day, blues skies, a breeze from time to time and a top temperature in the high 20's.
We enjoyed this section of caches hides and saw some interesting country as we headed along the highway and the byways.

Thanks to doheng for this hide, all good today.

I would have liked to have done this one at night.

17-Sep-18
Great spot and cache. We hadn't seen a cluster of these like this before.
My 87 year old Nana is unwell so neisha07 and I are off on the 4.5 hour trip to Mildura to see her. (6+ hour trip for us with stops for caching!)
We detoured via Wycheproof on the way there then back home a couple of days later via 2 of the Silo's that hadn't been done when last we traveled in this direction.
A nice little getaway. TFTC

Solar farms are an impressive site to behold on their own, add in a sunset and it's even more impressive. TFTC.

05-Jul-18
A short detour out of Carwarp and I found this oddity hiding out in the scrub Smile
First impressions on viewing the mothballed facility is that Stage 1 was a flop !! Razz
Five years after this cache was hidden,
the solar collectors are looking a bit weather beaten.
Even the protective mirror coatings are starting to peel off Sad

Across the road,
the cache was found.
A much sturdier solar powered option Big Grin
Maybe I should have found this one at night ??
It might have been easier to see [:o)]

TFTC and odd bit of technological failure Smile

20-Apr-18
Found by Mary & David at 1145. Sorry to leave the sunshine and avocados. Apparently Melbourne is grey and 18°. A FP for your details and ingenuity. Surprised to see that the solar installation was not working on such a lovely day. Dropped off "Roll'a Tape!" TB. Our thanks to doheng.

13-Nov-17
On the way home and took a detour off the main highway to check out the solar array.
I have not seen an array like this before very impressive.
A quick search and I soon came across a mini solar setup.
A very clever setup for this cache.
Thanks doheng TFTC.

16-Apr-17
Just loved this cache so a rare Astro Fav for the cache and location. Most interesting spot I would never have known about but for this cache. Will this be the next Porter Guster idea?

Found on the Easter 3 state jaunt via SA, Vic then NSW. The weather was clear, the tracks were dusty and the skies were clear and starry. Catching up with friends along the way at the various events was also a bonus.

Thanks to doheng and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!

04-Apr-17
Grabbing a few caches on the way to Alice. If we stop for them all, we'll never make it. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.

13-Jan-17
Battled my way through the jungle of growth and past the spider to find this fitting example of repurposing! Cache #2585. Who would have thought to find this solar farm out here!

11-Jul-16
Heading home after a mammoth weekend in Mildura , caching and eventing, we picked up as many trads as time would allow us along the highway helping to break the journey up. We thank all the CO's for their efforts in placing these caches for us to enjoy. We made the short detour down the track as we wanted to see the solar dishes and of coarse it wouldn't hurt if there was the bonus of a cache as well Wink
Thanks doheng for bringing us down the track.

11-Jul-16
Well our time in Mildura is up. It is time to head home to Geelong, but driving can be very boring. I know, let's grab a few caches !! So we cached a few hides on the way home. Thanks to the CO's who took the time to place these hides, well done. TFTC doheng Smile

Thank you. For showing us these panels as we have never seen this type before.

Travelling from Melbourne to Mildura to attend the "4 months to the Surf Coast Event - Mildura" event this Saturday. It shouldn't really take 12 hours to get there but we are travelling the geocachers route. Chasing some older caches as well as a mix of high favorite counts we had a long drive but visited some great caches.
Put some sunshine in your day, great themed cache.
**Thanks for placing this cache doheng**

Not sure if you can make the event tomorrow but you would be most welcome.

26-Jun-16
It looks like I found a Ingress portal, no wait it is just a geocache...managed a quick find this afternoon, thanks doheng for the hide and for bringing us to this spot.

13-Sep-15
Have visited both Birdsville and Hermannsberg on this trip and both have similar set ups. Unfortunately neither of them were working and this one doesn't appear to be either as all the dishes are pointing away from the sun! What a waste on such a beautiful day.
Another beautifully constructed and apt cache was found nearby, just when we thought we would be back to sistemas under trees and in bushes. Thanks, and yet another favourite point to this hider from us.

01-Jun-15
Wow what a sight, took a couple of photos before searching for the cache. It didn't take long to spot the well constructed cache. Well worth a favourite.

09-Apr-15
Wow, what an amazing sight. I would've loved to see them from the other side. Thanks for bringing us here and for the cache.

10-Aug-14
what a lot of solar power if they go through with the full plan tftc

03-Aug-14
We are from Geelong heading to Birdsville for a few weeks. Saw the solar panels off the highway and couldn't figure out what they were so we went off on a detour to find out. When we were driving in the direction of them, I thought hey there's probably a cache there too! And sure enough, there was. What a great spot for a solar station! Thanks for this one!
