Logs

A few days away in Bundaberg. This morning, I headed out to find a few TAF caches that had been replaced and a few others that had been published since I was last in the area. This cache was not on my list originally, but I decided to detour here. A bit of a search before the cache was located. With my name added to the log and everything returned as found, I continued on my way. TFTC

Well that was interesting, after finding the cache, that was the easy part. Retrieving it was challenging. I have added a spoiler to show what I had to do. Thanks for placing this cache here for us to find. All good here. Now, onto the next one for the day. TFTC

Found on 27/10/2022; find number 1581.

We decided to approach this one from the south, in case the creek was too high to cross. Following the hint from previous logs, Mrs Juc made the find here after the muggle fisherman moved on.
On we went and the creek was only 0.4m, so onwards we went to the dry sand road.

Thanks for the hunt and the cache PCYC Blazers.

Lovely area! Found by reading the previous log. Saw a snake swimming in the water. Thanks for the hide!

Drove through from Deepwater National park, Deepwater creek was at 0.6 so we did a walk through and decided that we could remove some of the sand from our undercarriages. Nice and easy.
Stopped here to have lunch, threw in a line, creek has a bit of flow, nothing even took a nibble.

It was more of an adventure than planned to get here today. We came from the north through Deepwater Nat Park, awesome scenery through there. We stopped at Flat Rock but decided it was too much of a hike to the beach for our 80yr old mother. We went to Wreck Rock instead for a play in the sand , climb of the rocks, puddle in the water and sticky beak in the high tide mark for plastic to pick up. We also saw a goanna chilling in a pandanus after raiding a nearby turtle nest. That made us all a bit sad but realistically that's nature at work.
The creek across the road was up and flowing well, it was at about .6m so the drivers walked it through before deciding the 4wds were capable enough of making it. Arriving at gz around midday meant this was a lunch spot as well. Everyone enjoyed a bit of chill time beside the creek, some went fishing, others read a book.
The recent flood zone was clearly all over the road so after 5 folks looking without success we decided to put another one out. It's now a preform tube around 1m off the ground near the largest tree in the vicinity . Fav point for the location.

Great spot to stop and have lunch and a spot of fishing.

Found while out caching with Geofamily.

When we pulled up to find this cache, there was a couple setting up their crab pot so we decided to wait until they moved on. We must have had them concerned about their pot, because they then decided to pull out a rod and do some fishing. Eventually we decided that offense was the best defense and decided to start searching anyway. Unsurprisingly, knowing out luck, we found the cache right beside their ute and ended up telling them about geocaching to explain what we were doing.

Just a heads up for future searchers, this is no longer a large container, now it is a mint tin.

Thanks for find #2435

Found at the base of a tree on the opposite side of the road from GZ.
This has been our favourite smoke stop for many years.
Thanks for the Cache.

Wow! What a great spot to bring us to. Unfortunately geohubby left his fishing gear back at camp. His loss! We took a while looking where posted co-ords wanted us but like some before us thought it could be in another spot. After detangling some fishing line from a plant I think karma played its part and the cache was found in a good spot that was just right for it. It was a bit wet inside so we cleaned it out, dried what we could, put in a new dry log in a new ziplock baggie and replaced as found. If the CO would like us to send them the wet log please contact us.
The co-ords that worked for us today are:
S24 23.087 and E151 57.961

Found this one easy enough but the cache was full of water. Dried everything out as much as we could while taking in the beautiful views and added a fresh piece of paper. Top spot, TFTC

My initial fears that this one may have succombed to the recent fires were, fortunately, unfounded. It's still there.

Out on a drive to have a look at the Baffle Creek area. This was our only DNF for the day. There's plenty of litter around GZ but despite a fairly thorough search we weren't able to locate the cache. It's definitely a pretty little spot, and it was tempting to have a dip in the creek to cool off. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely spot. Cheers from Bindair Dundat and Princess Madelyn.

The road has been widened by grader at GZ. We have replaced the cache for now it is close to GZ. Not quite at the roots now. It is a lovely place to have a cache.

While staying at my mums just down the road, i took the Geokids fishing. Where should we pull up but right near GZ!.
After a bit of searching we sadly walked away empty handed (cache and fish ).
This cache may hsve succumbed to the recent flooding of the area thankscto Cyclone Debbie.
Hopefully we will have better luck next time.

We (Clan-mess and I) are staying at my Nanny's house just down the road.
We decided to do some fishingvand stopped right near the caches hiding spot. It looks like the floods might have taken this one.
Maybe we will find it next time.

Managed to persuade geohubby to drive to this one because he thought it was a long way in the wrong direction but enjoyed the drive once we got there. The GPS had us on the wrong side of the road to start with but common sense prevailed and the cache was soon in hand - although a little damp. Tricky little bugger. This one deserves a favourite point for the drive and the cache. TFTC PCYC Blazers Smile

this is my favourite cache so far - it hasn't been found since 2013! Beautifully hidden in a wonderful spot. It was in tip top condition and easy to replace carefully. I took out the travelling dolphin and dropped in something else. So pleased to be able to log this one, really special. (:))
What was really special is riding here from the Deepwater campsite.

25-Dec-13
Camping nearby for a couple of nights and though we'd try a bit of fishing here and also look for the cache. Unsuccessful at both!

Did a bit of kayaking after finding this one, thanks for making me drive that little extra to find this cache.

Left Nanango at 0300 for my drive to Bundaberg. I had a plan. Arrived in Bundaberg and had breakfast then started my drive north towards the town of 1770.

Arrived at GZ at 0930 and had to play chicken with an EMU who thought it owned the road. Container was full of water. I replaced the LOG sheet in a new clipseal bag and replaced the container with a small screw cap container in an attempt to keep any water out. I do not think that too many cahers will attempt this one as it is a little out of the way. Loved the idea for this series and loved the drive here and back. TFTC.

This was the fourth cache in my run from Hervey Bay today, and one of the ones I had come specifically hoping to get the FTF Smile
I was greeted by a virgin log, excellent.
I saw alot of native wildlife today ranging from Hares, Kanga's, a couple of little wallabys, Turkeys a black snake, a large Goanna, and the most unusual was on the road coming into the National Park.
There was a pony walking down the centre of the road ( and no I hadn't been drinking LOL)
I drove slowly by and the horse just kept going like he was on a mission.
I hope he wasn't hoping for the FTF.
I took the dolphin Tag and will send him on his way soon
