First stop on a day trip around the area. Not found since 2021 and a DNF in 2023, so was a little concern it might be a wasted trip. Arrived at GZ and thought that the chances of it being muggled were low, so set about the search. Took a good few minutes, but eventually the cache was found. I can why the previous folk DNF'd it as the natural camo certainly hide it well. Good to make the find though. A couple of photos of the log book attached. Thanks FUF009...and interesting area, albeit with nothing going on in pit.
Another lovely day to be out and about caching with Bushfire. After attending the Community Celebration and visiting the new letterbox cache, todays plan was to head into the Percyvale area to do the Adventure Lab and for bushfire to gather the traditional caches I’d already found previously. That took most of the morning before we headed to St Arnaud, with Bushfire collecting more caches along the way. My tally today was a dozen caches, plus the event and the Lab caches. This was on Bushfires bucket list and our last cache for the day Thanks FUF009
Left Geelong Thursday morning and cached my way up to Avoca, set up the van in the Caravan Park and glad I changed from the free camp area as the nights were very cold and ice on the screen most mornings.
With 104 caches to log I will have to cut and paste most so thanks to all the folk who placed these caches out there for us to find because without your effort we would not have any to find.
Another day and a new area to hunt for a few more Geocaches with my good friend au.fait, and we called into this guy while in the area on our way backto Avoca.
Thanks for placing this cache way out here.

Hi there FUF009.
We found your cache **"Big Boys TONKA Toys"** at 12:30:00 PM today. (This makes our find count 24527).
We started the day off by nominating a cache near our camp site and then took a route that was mostly determined by the next closest cache according to our GPS. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the area & ended up finding quite a variety of container types, and sizes hidden along our route.
We found 21 caches today & DNF'd 1. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our nomadic travels around Australia.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the 2019 Victorian Mega event. The weekend was spent primarily with e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98 as we geocached around the vicinity of St Arnaud. All of the events and CITOs were attended, we completed the available adventure labs and lab caches available at the showgrounds, many of the creative trails were gasped at their construction, and interesting puzzles were solved and collected during the weekend.
We all left on Thursday in two separate cars, and met up at the evening event, before finding a camp spot for the night in a very CITO location. On Friday, we targeted the StARS (St Arnaud Ramble Series) and the higher quality, well-constructed geocaches that were famous here in St Arnaud, and got lucky with the 2019 published series that we managed to snag FTFs on. Sunday had us continuing to find the other sets of high-quality caches around the neighbouring town parks, the challenge series, before spending a few hours at geocaching HQ participating in the labs that had been published. The event was also great to see some of the South Australians honoured with geocaching life awards (in amongst everyone on the list). Our final day, Sunday, had us do a big loop finishing off our geocache collection, driving all the way out to Kooreh and around via Stuart Mill, walking the conservation park at Mount Gowar, and finishing off at the GIFF event. A massive weekend that turned out to be a great mega! Thanks to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. The variety between the local high-quality caches, the new series placed by the mega team, and those who needed to be around for the labs and main centre fielding questions was appreciated immensely.
Today with our final day in St Arnaud, we went east and south focusing on some of the *Original Road* series, and the various geocaches that were placed along these routes. This cache was one of these found as we headed towards Stuart Mill. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache. The logbook was signed as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98).

Found as part of our trip to the St Arnaud Mega event. On Day 1, e.gregory1, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday morning, straight after the Earlybirds event in North Adelaide. We travelled a long and circuitous route via Bordertown, Nhil and Warracknabeal to find caches in 5 additional Victorian LGAs that I had yet to visit (namely Buloke, Loddon, [Greater Bendigo - I’d previously visited], Mt Alexander, Hepburn and Central Goldfields). On Days 2-4 we met up with Freddo and Davidwazza. As a group we systematically completed each of the many series around St Arnaud and found all other caches along the way, signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, Featherwaite and gridge98), as well as attending the events and completing the Lab caches. After the Mega, e.gregory1 and I headed back to Adelaide camping out in Little Desert NP overnight. On Day 5 we had intended picking up caches around Mundulla and Mount Monster but a last minute change of plans saw us head into Ngarkat CP instead, for a solid drive and a few extra rewarding cache finds. Many thanks to all the cache owners for placing the huge variety of caches around St Arnaud and to all those who organised the Mega and the fantastic weekend away. Thanks for the cache FUF009!
Found on the trails.
Twelve months ago as we finished the Parkville Mega we were advised by someone that the next Victorian Mega event would be held in Saint Arnold. Somebody else told us that the Mega event would be held in Saint Arnood. And then another said that Saint Arned was the Mega event venue. Who should I believe? Struggling to understand the English language at the best of time. Freddo speaks two languages, Australian and Bad English.
Move forward a year. There is a cluster of events, including a MEGA event, at this town called St Arnaud burning a hole in my GPSr. The big white Pay Hero is loaded with GPSr, TOTT and camping gear and we headed east with a collaboration of like minded South Australian colleagues. DavidWazza, e.gregory1, Featherwaite, freddo and Gridge98 make team DEFF98.
Thursday: 5am event at a bakery in North Adelaide. The bed wetter team meets and says that this is way too early. Travel 500km east for the Thursday evening event. Freddo gets a prize. I am no mug. Camping in the bush under the stars.
Friday: Up early and headed out on the trails. And then back to our campground for a CITO! I am sure we did not make that much mess last night. More trails and 200 caches find for the day including a cluster of caches where freddo left DNA. More bush camping after a great meal in the Sporting Club.
Saturday: Up early for an event. Who puts an event on at 8am. Damn South Australians that’s who. After the event it was back on the trails and the Pay Hero is getting dustier and dustier. Found some awesome caches. Freddo the metallurgist was very impressed with the welding. Quality fabrication. And then another CITO. This time at the dump. Plenty of rubbish here. Some of it good stuff. Can I take some home? And finally a giant queue for a free meal. Nothing attracts a crowd like a free meal. The moment of the evening was receiving a Hall of Fame nomination. That prize is going straight to the pool room.
Sunday: Another night camping in the bush. Some fabulous night caches walks were undertaken. Night caching is a special form of entertainment. We spent the day cruising around picking up the left over unfound caches and meeting heaps of new friends. Boycotted the GIFF event since it did not show the freddo film “Cache Confusion” https://vimeo.com/372568752. One minute and forty four seconds of your life you won’t get back. A quick speech and it was back on the road for home. Well Horsham. More camping. This time by a river.
Monday: Caches around Horsham and following the Duke’s Highway back to Adelaide. Time for a shower for this smelly geocacher. An exhausted chocolate frog slept well.
We came, we cached, we ate, we slept; repeat for five days of fun and dust.
Easter 2020 sees South Australia hosting the next Easter big MEGA event, GeoVenture 2020 at Millicent. GC82DAN. Check it out. We would love to see you there.

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the Mega event.
FeatherWaite, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday, taking a circuitous, but scenic route to St Arnaud to pick up a few caches in some other Victorian LGAs. We met up with Freddo and Davidwazza at the event that evening and teamed up to complete a couple more caches that night together before camping out of town.
Over the next three days we cached very solidly in and around St Arnaud, finding a diverse range of Traditional, Multi, Unknown, Virtual, Letterbox, Wherigo and Earthcaches as well as attending all the events associated with the Mega. We also managed to complete all the Lab caches over the weekend. Logbooks were signed D.E.F.F.98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo and gridge98).
On the Sunday afternoon, after the final GIFF event, FeatherWaite and I began making our way back to Adelaide, picking up a couple of caches before camping in the Little Desert NP. The following day we continued towards home with a side visit to Mount Rescue to pick up a few caches along the tracks there.
Thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches. They included a huge variety of containers, hides and puzzles, many of which were very clever and/or amusing and had obviously taken considerable time and effort to construct. Thanks also to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. I’ll be looking forward to the Mega at Millicent in South Australia next Easter!

Kept looking for the toys until I realised that you meant the diggings across the way. Found and signed thanks FUF009
A drive around town from one side to the other as we gather a few more smileys before heading home after the Giff. Thanks FUF0009 for all your efforts in placing caches for us to find. No big boys working today
We detoured down south to finish off the last few caches down here, cache was found all in good order
What a big trip this was! I headed over to St Arnaud for the 2019 Victorian mega with e.gregory1, Davidwazza, Featherwaite and Freddo for the long weekend.
The weekend was filled with a lot of finds ranging in puzzles, a few events and some very well constructed hides around the area.
Day 1: I headed over with e.gregory1 and featherwaite, with the aim to collect some unfound LGAs for the guys, with only a 500km drive to the mega from home we added an extra 450km to the trip by going over to Bendigo and further south exploring some regional towns, overall we added an extra 6 LGAs with only 18 finds for the day. Was great to see some of the interesting little towns and what they had to offer for future visits.
Day 2: As a group we hit the trails in St Arnaud as a group signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, featherwaite and gridge98) to save a lot of room in the logbook. We started off with the geoart Stars and thought it would take most of the day, as we finished it in 2.5 hours we were a bit surprised so hit the well constructed caches in the south of the town in the bush throwing a CITO in the mix. All the caches were amazing and something you don’t see anywhere else. Adding in 15 FTFs along the way with: everlasting, crank1 and Pwola. The evening settled in and we headed into town for a buffet dinner and a catch up with some familiar faces.
Day 3:
After attending the GV2020 event for the morning we set off to hit the last of the trails left in town of the metal containers, followed by the challenges for the mega as well as quite a few trads around the back roads. We ended the day by having a go at the lab caches at the mega then off to the CITO. I don't think I have ever seen so mant people at a tip before. Topped off the day with an evening event.
Day 4: By today the town was almost cleaned out and only a few caches to find, so we did the last few caches within a rough 15km radius driving around finding the odd cache here and there. The GIFF was finished off the mega so we decided to head to Horsham for the evening.
Day 5: After leaving our camp site for the morning, we cached for the morning around Horsham collecting a few grads and a well earned swim. Then made the long drive back home to Adelaide.
Thanks to all the COs for their cache placements and the Geocaching Victoria crew for organising a fantastic weekend away.

Found with Cybergran V and her MuggleHubby on Mega Eve (the day before the opening of the big one).
This one was our nearlyestist DNF for the whole weekend.
We searched high and low and were about to call it when one last look where we thought we had looked before produced the goods.
I reckon one of them Tonka toys would have had this one sorted a lot quicker.

Found staying in St Arnaud for a week to attend the Mega Event, had a great time finding some quality caches around the area, this was one of them. I teamed up with My good Mate Rosstaman and Green Gecko from Brisbane. Having been to St Arnaud three times we were glad of the new publications today, that gave us something to do before heading out far and wide in all different directions to find caches.
Thanks FUF009 for the cache.
Thanks FUF009 for the cache.
TFTC. This one took a bit longer than was necessary. I had looked straight at the hide and walked away. Came back a minute late and found what we were looking for. No activity around the quarry so could not see the TONKA toys in action.
Found at 12:15 PM in the company of maccamob
Well hidden - took a while to find.
Thanks FUF009

Big boys and their toys! This was one for the boys so dalerious and Muggle Hubby set forth to locate it whilst I enjoyed looking at what the Tonka Toys had been doing.
Thanks for bringing us here and putting another happy face on our maps.
Thanks for bringing us here and putting another happy face on our maps.
It has taken me 6 years to get down this road to find this and George Berry cache.
Took me way too long to spot. It is trickily hidden but not hard at all, just not where I expected it to be I guess.
All in good order and no activity across the road.
Thanks FUF

Stayed at St Arnaud for Mega week and enjoyed with different caches Found your cache today. FUF009, thank you so much for placing it.
Here in St Arnaud for the Mega event we had a great day caching and exploring the roads less travelled.
Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

TFTC and we still have to look over into the pit.
TFTC and we still have to look over into the pit.
The long weekend approached and as I was up here for the event in January and I noticed all of the caches up here and was told by numerous cachers that there are some high quality caches to be found so I decided to spend the weekend up this way.
Caching around the outskirts of town taking all of the back roads before hitting town.
Being a Saturday all the Big Tonka toys were having a day off so no action down in the pit.
This one took longer than it should have and I finally located it in a place I already checked.
Thanks FUF009 TFTC

A fun trip to St Arnaud yet again. Amazing caches, fun events and a great afternoon evening with becca85, neisha07 & GemmaSistema/Ad/Luke. TFTC!
A fun day out and about in St Arnaud and surrounds with my Clarmensma family. TFTC
St Arnaud weekend and I just had to be there because it is always such a cool and quality [^] weekend!
46 caches found and 4 events attended made for an awesome 3 day trip away and since there was a new cache trail at St Arnaud, well we all know that the caches were amazing, as always![^][^]
There were a few SA geocachers that I hadn't seen for ages and so it was lovely to catch up and cache with them [^]
Although the end of the trip involved an unexpected detour home through Horsham in case Rex, who had decided that a bloody large wriggly stick seemed like a fun toy to play with, required emergency vet work after he tried to touch noses with the big brown that was up and striking at him!
Thankfully Rex didn't need vet assistance [^] and he now seems to have a healthy fear of snakes (he even jumped away from a plastic crocodile head cache near Horsham[^]) and is much more aware in the bush (even better because the following weekend he found another big brown wriggly stick at the lake in the caravan park we live in and jumped away from it[^] )
If nothing else the drive to Horsham gave me a chance to find a cache that has always been in a flooded or wet area previously and inaccessible so that find was a bonus
Then it was a very late night [|)] trip back home via St Arnaud again to pick up a cache container that a friend had forgotten to pick up for another geocacher
As I have been about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up.
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! [^]
Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby

A nice quick find here.
After lunch, we (boo09, neisha07 & I) joined forces with the rest of Team Clarmensma (GemmaSistema, AdamSistema & LukeSistema) to make our way through the newest trail of awesome caches before nabbing a few of the rare few we've left un-found after multiple visits to the area. TFTC

Another caching afternoon for the annual St Arnaud events. Once again I teamed up with becca85 and our motley crew of kids (AdamSistema, LukeSistema, neisha07 & boo09) to form Team Clarmensma. With some time to spare before dinner we picked up some stray caches! Nice easy find here. Many thanks for the cache.
Today I turned my attentioned to the southern region of St Arnaud, to do some geocaching.I started out on a bright sunny morning.. I found this cache and 17 others before the weather turned. Cache OK. TFTC.
Sitting at my computer during these Covid lockdowns, I am trying to catch up on a few logs that I haven't sent in yet.
Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late log, something I am notorious for. Thank you for adding to the adventure that is geocaching.
Thanks FUF009 (F=8680 H=119) for the cache.

Found by Mary & David at 1705. Perhaps you could do an Earthcache here? A lot of erosion evident. Has been hidden for more than 5 years and only one idle Tonka toy is evident late on this Sunday afternoon. Our thanks to FUF009.
With the day getting warmer we spent way to long searching for this 1.5D but eventually the cache gods were kind to us and we found it in a place we had both already checked ....doh!
Thanks FUF009 for the placement for us and others to enjoy.

Today the caching gods were a lot kinder to us as we had the cache within a few minutes. Not sure how we missed it last time, nearly twelve months to the day. SL TFTC
On our annual pilgrimage to the St Arnaud event weekend, we decided to explore this neck of the woods on the way in to town. What a great view of the gravel pit. Lots of water in there now - looks like a lake. No activity with the tonka toys today. TFTC and for bringing us here FUF009.
In the region in preparation for an event, but of course you must cache your way there. So brisal5, Anymules and I found about 30 'on the way'
Thanks
Thanks
Staying at Redbanks overnight with Anymules and Mogni to attend the 3 months till the Surf Coast event in St Arnaud. Up early we have all morning to cache our way to the event. In preparation we had solved 25 nearby puzzles so they were on our 'must do' list. A day of caching with me usually involves blood spilled, a fall and/or ripped clothing. I wonder which order they will be in today? Not to mention lots of laughs and adventures.
This took way longer than it should we plenty of hiding places. I even resorted to photographing down the middle of hollow trees to see if I could see it. Meantime mogni used her well known magic voodoo mojo thingy and spied the cache hide. then it was over to the pit but no movement here today. One forlorn Tonka Toy rusting away in the distance. Thanks for bringing us here FUF009.

A weekend trip to visit The Morris to hear about their big trip (No, not the video again - Ahh!!!!!), and to attend the event in St Arnaud.
We travelled across from Bendigo caching as we went, turned up late to the event (but in time for the BBQ!), then cached some on the way back.
Only one toy slowly rusting across the road today. I guess that is what you get for caching on a Saturday!
A sizable hole they have dug though.
Thanks, Robmc.

A gloomy day but the rain held off for most of the trip to St Arnaud with Robmc for the Surf Coast event
After visiting Stuart Mill we took the short cut back to our highway and visited this one along the way. That's a nice hole the boys have made.

This is one of the caches we found during what can only be called a Fabulous Friday around St Arnaud. All the caches were dry, the logs were fresh and many were filled with appealing swaps. Like this one many highlighted points of local significance.
[8)] A significant find for us here today, we believe it is the first time this one has seen the light of day in just on a year!
What really made the day; Not a micro or nano to be seen!
Our thanks to FUF009 for placing this cache.

We spent quite some time here, looking and poking sticks into places we felt may hide a cache. We then read the previous logs and expanded our search. Still no luck.
We did get to see a very large Tonka toy sleeping it's day away.
Hoping it is still in play, we will have another look the next time we that way.

what a pity its a Sunday, would have loved to have seen the big boys toys in action. thanks for the well stocked cache
Staying a few days in St Arnoud this morning we woke to 'sunshine' yay. Straight away we offloaded the bikes and headed out to visit the town caches.
After lunch we headed back out in the GeoCruiser to grab a few caches close to town.
So much history in this region, just lovely. Saw the tonka toy, but took an age to find the cache. Thought it might be missing but a recheck and there it was all along.
Thanks for your cache to feed our GeoAddiction.

Used the gps and tablet to find gz and we were barking up the wrong tree. Then it came to experience, observation and a a good old fashioned scrounge. SWM, stood back and directed from previous logs. A few clues and i was onto it, these things dont stump me. A little further from gz, but these things happen.
Been looking for this one for a while take me partner out guess what she finds it
Never knew this part of the world existed. the thing i love about geocaching
is being taken on a journey to unknown destinations. Looked for this cache

Checked on this one tonight and apart from a minor bit of "cache creep" all is good with the hide
Cache was placed back in its original hide location and all good.

Took rusty0316 and me a while to find this one. Once found we wondered why it had taken us so long. I had even looked very near to it. If only I had moved my line of sight about 3 inches to the right I would have seen it and saved us much angst.

Few good hidey holes to put this one, but was soon in hand. Late tuesday arvo and no tonka toys around. TFTC and to show us the hole!
A couple of Events in St Arnaud. A heap of new caches. Good caching friends both old and new. Recipe for a great day.
Perhaps just a little off the beaten track but an impressive hole nonetheless. The cache took a little while to find as it was at the limit of arms reach and well covered.
Thank you for the cache FUF009. and thank you to The Coffees and Sharkiefan for the great afternoon and evening.

There was only one Tonka Toy in evidence today and seeing as it was a Saturday, I suppose that was fair enough. The hole was fairly large too and we wondered what they would do with it once they ran out of gravel, another Olympic training pool!

Find No. 693 with our geodog 'Penny' at 5.00pm
Just had to find one of FUF009's hides on this special day (Mr. Tyred n Cranky's birthday)
There was only one big toy in the distance today.
A bit of interference that moved us around, but with percerverence we finally located the cache. A neat little hide.
Took little green car. Left red tip truck.
TFTC FUF009 - Another one off your list.

Suscoe had a day out in the Wedderburn and St Arnaud area today.
We started nice and early and enjoyed a day of beaut sunshine and almost no breeze.
This was the 32nd find of 34 for today.
We enjoyed the countryside and the green grasslands looked delightful, we hope the farmers are pleased.
Thanks to FUF009 for this cache. A creature had decided to bury it and so after some time we finally found it by excavation which we think is in keeping with the theme across the road.

Another well off the road site that no-one was playing in today. Took Sully and I a while to locate as we were in the wrong tree.
Thanks again SImon

Found with Bogonghazy on Day #2 of our run around the area. It was 13:30 when we logged this, and the temp was already to starting to drop. Maybe because of where we were. Now thats a decent size Gravel pit. Walked over to the boundary for a bit of a sticky nose. Thanks to FUF009 for the cache and for highlighting this spot and bringing us here today.
I think the rain must have shut the operation down for a few days [:o]
No big boys toys to be seen
Just a big hole in the ground
Ah well, at least there was a cache to be dug up here !!

Found by Roma and Max.
Returning from a most enjoyable long weekends camping at Brim with our Wedderburn based geocaching friends Brian and Bob of "the old blokes", Greg and Lyn of the "rockdwellers" and new found friend Jenny, who we all introduced to the pleasures of geocaching, also gave us the opportunity to catch up on several new hides here, one of our favourite geo search areas.
Certainly some interesting Tonka Toys here!
Thanks Simon for choosing another interesting place for this hide.
Cheers,
from Max and Roma.

Brian (The Old Blokes) and I went on another little excursion to St Arnaud this afternoon to get the latest caches that had been placed around town. With Brian having already completed the puzzles, imputing them into my gps for me and chauffeuring me around, it made for a lovely, easy afternoon of cache finding.
Couldn't resist taking a picture of the view for my little boy at home..he would love to be able to play with all that dirt! This cache had us looking for a bit..going back and forth and all over before spotting a little area that looked a bit "unnatural" in its placement and sure enough after pulling things out of the way the cache was in hand.
TN, left usual swag, TFTC

I was out with Geocaching Butterfly79 on what must be described as a glorious afternoon. Perfect caching weather.
It took us a lot longer to find this one than it should have, but the Butterfly came up trumps in the end. Thanks for the cache.

Found at 6pm with geomrs and kids, another quality hide fuf009, the planets must have been aligned perfectly tonight as my gps took me straight to gz for a very quick find. Tnln TFTC
FTF. Found this one with Charm Quark1 and the Mini Quark. Took a bit of looking though, with the GPS sending us well and truly away from GZ. Away with the technology and the searching began in ernest.
Just about to throw it in when I decided to look in an area away from where the GPS had been indicating and soon enough, the cache was mine.
Just a side note, the prize of a front end loader for the FTF prize (a Big Boy's Toy) is now in the hands of a two year old girl - it's now a Little Girl's Toy!
