Time for this GeoArt to go....

It was born from an idea of firesafe, Honeysucker and myself to put out a big series for the Oz Mega Event once the location was announced. We did it independently of the organising committee and got the 203 cache published in early Jan of 2013. It was the biggest GeoArt/Powertrail in Australia at the time.
Since then some 60-70k of finds have been made with the peak being at the Oz Mega at Easter 2014, where on one day of finds alone more than 6500 'found it' emails were received.

I would like to thank CPWanderer, Froghoppin, and the numerous local and interstate teams whom have assisted with maintenance over the last 4 1/2 years which has kept all but 1 (archived due to a new house at GZ that wasn't there when placed) of the remaining 173 cache still going (The 29 cache that made the 'S.A.' were archived before the Mega due to 'an incident' with a farmer over a weed!)

As for the cache containers they have been collected today and there is nothing to find out there now. The archiving process will begin ASAP

My apologies for those whom may have a solution for them, but interest has been waning greatly in the last 12 months and an opportunity came up for them to be collected yesterday.

I'd tackled part of this series last year with JJ52. Today I returned with The Tardis Trio and e.gregory1 to do the rest (122 caches for me [^]).

It was a great day for caching, the rain abstained, the sun shone and we all had a good time.

Most caches were quickly located, although an odd one took a bit longer. There were no DNF's, although #118 almost turned into one as it had been completely buried in sand and only about the size of a 10 -20 cent piece was visible. Almost ready to give up - I struck it lucky to make the find.

Finally got to complete this series today with Ismartis and Tardis Trio, and just in time it seems.

It was a very enjoyable day with sufficient variety in containers and hides to keep things interesting. Most of the containers were in quite good order and were found fairly quickly, although some caches were more well-hidden and took us a bit longer to find.

We finished up the day with no DNFs for the entire series, which was a great effort and the weather held out, which was a bonus.

Mr Tardis had a free afternoon so made a start on this power trail. I managed to get 70 today. Most of the caches were easy to find and in good condition.

Another chance to chip away at this amazing series. Once again, not much time today, but still managed to find 15. I continue to be impressed by the scale and effort in bringing this series to fruition. TFTC.

Day 4 of our SA trip had us leaving our camping spot in Palmer nice and early and heading towards Murray Bridge [^]. Of course there were many power trails collected including the geo art

I had been eyeing off an interstate trip for some time now and made plans to head to SA to power through the geoart trails over here . I roped in my geo buddy Krabiboy to join me and we set about solving [?] caches and highlighting Jasmer caches that aren't available over in WA. Our adventure took us from the CBD over to the Yorke Peninsula and then back across to the Murray Bridge area . We were relentless in chasing down the finds and picked up as many as we could in the week that we had available. Due to the park and grab nature of our visit, the log books which weren't able to accommodate the ink stamp we had made were signed with the initials 'jk'! Fave points will be awarded for those caches which are considered awesome

jinta29 found your cache Oz Mega 2014 SA #104 today. This is my find #7403 and find #139 today. I was able to get my name in the log book here and we replaced the cache as we found it. Thanks once again Hurtle for placing this and bringing us to this part of the world!

jinta29 and I are in town this week after many months of planning for a week to remember. We are heading to the Yorke Peninsula, Murray Bridge and as many places in between as we can get to. This was one we found along the way.

We had fun with caching few weeks here in Australia ( South Australia and Northern Territory ). Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and huge country!

Team ICE on a two week geocaching trip in Australia. Our main target was the Red Centre Experience at Alice Springs but of course we did some caching in other places too. We drove from Adelaide to Alice Springs and then back. We saw lots of interesting and beutiful places like opal mines at Coober Pedy, Ayers Rock and Kata Tjuta. Our rental travelled almost 6500km on gravel and tarmac roads. The weather was great, only on last day we got some rain.

All the caches logged as Team Ice, T-ice or Tice with kapeka, laalaa and Hiltsu. We had a great trip!

Today we drove back to Adelaide from Murray Bridge. Main target for today was Oz Mega 2014 puzzle trails.

Our Spring Geocaching trip go this year to Australia...yes you read right, in Finland is spring now.
We visit in Australia (Adelaide, Murray Bridge, Port Augusta, Whyalla, Coober Pedy, Uluru, Alice Springs, Port Vincent and other place which are on the way those places) on April 05.-20.

We see many beautiful place where we visit and enjoy every cache what we found, so humble thanks every cache owner that you hiding this cache!

We didn't have all these puzzles solved when we came over for the mega. Now with all solved we have returned to log all caches. Thanks for the work involved in setting this series up. We found most caches still well maintained, a fun way to fill in a day. TFTC's.

Our third outing to this series. We were determined to complete the remaining 75 today.
As usual not an early start and we were waylayed with some business in town.
The vampire hadn't eaten yet, so we decided to spend an hour on the trail before lunch and some more business, then head out again to complete the rest of the trail.
Most were easy finds with only a couple that challenged us a bit more.
A bit of variety in the containers and hide locations due to the replacements that have taken place over time but this added to the fun.

After starting this series yesterday I headed out early today to finish it off. A few problems passing the chook farm on the side road and again on the main road but once clear of the area all was well.

Most caches were found okay but I still had a few head scratching moments along the way and finished the series with 4 DNF's today.

Found myself in SA for other reasons this month, and McPhan agreed to join me for the trip back.

These were unfinished business for us, as we were the ones who discovered this fenceline had been muggled a couple of years ago. So it was satisfying to get these blueys turned to yellow. And that the chookfarm was downwind this time was a bonus.

Righting the misses of our last visit out this way. Not sure if it was the chook farmer but last time we were here the whole string along here was missing. Many thanks to those who replaced/maintained this lot so that we were able to make the finds and, I think, finish the geo-art around here finally!

Of course we will probably back some day so if we missed one or two...

After a few months of planning, and trial runs I finally attempted and complete my goal of doing a 24 hour SOLO cache run!!!

One Man, One Day, 441 caches found!

I booked two nights at Murray bridge and arrived at 8:00 pm. Attempted without success to sleep until 11:30 pm then got up and went to the location of the first cache. As the clock turned to midnight I began.

Speed through the Oz Mega 2014 Trail with only a handful of DNFs, then picked a few up along the highway until I got to the GeoPets trail.

After this I cut through to Wandering Heros and completed up to the "OTS: May" trail. Went along this and came back into Tailem Bend for lunch and fuel and few in town. Was beginning to get weary but proceeded back to where I left off in the Wandering Heros.

From here on in I just completed as many of these as I could up through Karoonda in the hot hot mid 30's day until midnight stuck a few kms east of town.

441 finds was the total count and now I just had to drive back to Murray Bridge. Easier said then done after being awake for practically 40 hours. Hit the hotel pillow at 1:20 am and was out within seconds.

Number 60 of 173 in our 16-hour Murray Bridge caching tour. Found at 12:27 pm.

On 2015 Christmas Day, we spent the whole day caching in the town of Murray Bridge. We did not get to go to the mega event last year, so we came now to pick up some of the many caches here. We left home before 7am and arrived home after half past 2am! What a memorable Christmas Day! Surely nothing like this can happen once we have kids...

Cache was easy to find. Signed the log book and placed the container back.

I was unable to attend the 2014 OZ Mega event so I have been looking forward to visiting Murray Bridge to pick up some smileys.

I have been sitting on the coords for many months it is great to finally work off some of my solved mystery caches.

I had my bike in the back of my car so I used a mixture of driving, cycling, walking and running (during the heavy downpours) to get around the trail.

All but 2 of the caches I searched for were found in good condition. I am confident the 2 I couldn't find were missing so I left replacements.

On a quick two to three day get away by myself. Heading over to Tailem Bend and Murray Bridge to pick up a few smiley face along the way collecting mostly Earthcaches, Letterbox Hybrids, Wherigos and 'Finds by hidden month' I need to fill - Plus any others that are nearby any of the rarer types I'm after in boosting my numbers a little.
After leaving on Home on Sunday I was fortunate to have excellent weather on my side and a great run also traffic wise, which was great as it enabled me to get quite a lot of KM's done and caches done too while on my way to Tailem Bend for the night and get an early start on the trail in Murray Bridge.

After spending the night in Tailem Bend I made an early start at first light to cram as many caches in today as I can. After completing the Geopets series in Tailem Bend I headed over to Murray Bridge to grab a coffee and then do this series.
I happy to say I found all in this series, but one - so I was pretty stoked about that. Thankfully most were easy but some did provide a little more time to search than most.

This was day two of Roadtrip ahomburg and sharkiefan 2015. Today was a real numbers run, we managed to find 169 caches and DNF just three. It was a simply stunning day, especially good considering it was winter, the sun shone for most of the day. Most caches found today were not too tricky, usually found within a minute or so, with the odd one providing an extra challenge.

14th / 15th November 2015 - GC5HCJ8 - Casey Fields - Melbourne Victoria

We planned on arriving in Murray Bridge about midday on Friday, with expectations of completing The Signal series south of town then at least get the 11 caches in the arrowhead, so there'd be no reason to go back to Murray Bridge when we'd finished what we could do. We booked in at Tailem Bend and drove over from there, as we knew we'd have to come back this way at the end of the caching.

We arrived in Murray Bridge about 7.00 a.m. and grabbed some breakfast as it was still dark, then headed off for a start just before 8.00 a.m. . Apart from a few coordinates being wrongly entered in GSAK, we gave it a good start, especially as we had no idea where we'd end up. All went fairly well and we finished up on Boundary Road at the last cache at 1.00 p.m.. Looking at the map to see where we were and how to get back, we noticed Boundary Road actually went all the way to Orland Road, somewhere we needed to be to find a few caches. We're happy with what we found as most were quite easy to find. (Someone before us leaving several caches out on the ground).

I set out on this road trip to tackle both series of power trails put out for the 2014 mega. Toaday I tackled the northern section as the weather forecast was great.
The preform tubes have done the job well after all this time and I am grateful for the replacement of teh caches along thee sections in recent times which meant I got a perfect score today, no dnf's.
The local farmers passing knew what I was doing and often checked to see if I was okay, which I was of course.

We are finally getting around to doing some of the Oz Mega caches. We have planned so many times to do these but something always seem to come up. A very big thanks to everyone who has helped to set up the caches, research the area to place the caches and then the massive job logging all the caches with the umpire for approval.
Our thanks to the owner for having the containers replaced enabling us to nearly finish this artwork, one year after the event. Two more to do. If it is Ok we will take a couple of containers out to these on our next trip into town, maybe in six weeks time, SL TFTC

Today was Oz Mega 2014 geo-art day. We contacted the CO a few weeks before hand and got a bunch of new caches to replace all the missing ones in front of the chicken farm.
We replaced all the ones that multiple people had DNF’ed except for #113 and #114 because we just ran short of containers so had to DNF those 2.
Project “Centroid” road trip continued today...after a bit of planning Fleabag and I decided to head towards Adelaide again for the long weekend to get 500 or so caches to move our centroid far enough away from home to complete a challenge cache in Melbourne. We managed to get 501 just for good measure.
At the same time we tried to get a few areas of Victoria done on the way there and back to start working on another challenge cache back in Melbourne.

Spiffy- and I were on a project to get 500 caches in 4 days that were over 100km from our home locations. We had checked the logs and noticed numerous DNF's so contacted the CO who gave us replacement caches. Sure enough at GZ we found obvious signs of muggle activity and replaced the cache as best we could. Thanks to TeamHurtle for the cache.

A warm spell is forecast for Murray Bridge over the next few days so while the weather remains a little cooler we decided to have an early start and try to knock off a few of this series.

We picked a bad spot to start I fear because of the 63 we attempted we had 25 DNF's like several cachers before us. Someone has obviously decided that it would be clever to remove as many as they can
What a shame after all the hard work and effort put in by the CO to set up this series.

Sadly a generic log for 22 DNFs. They seem to be the ones closest to the chook farm in obvious spots that can be found without a GPS. Those more secluded seemed safe. Email sent to CO.

696. Pretty sad when you have to log a generic DNF.

We hit the first one which appeared that it should have been in the visible pile of rocks - nothing. We then moved on to try 3 more with the same result. The piles of rocks were there but nothing else.

Fearing that the whole lot could be gone we headed off and around the corner to find all the caches on that stretch. Back around the corner and again lots and lots of apparent missing caches.

The only caches we found along this stretch were those that were obscured by being placed out of direct sight of the side track.

Email sent to CO by winglen, but I haven't heard if we've had a response yet.

One of my challenges I set myself for my trip to the SA MEGA was to see how many caches I could find in 24 hours.
Today was the day. I parked the car the night before out at the furtherest point of the caches of the OZ MEGA 2014 and slept the night there with the alarm set for just before midnight.
My aim was to complete the OZ MEGA 2014 caches then start along the Wandering Heros series and see how far I got.
At midnight I started. With no one else on the roads I moved quickly along each of the roads looking for those little 'suspicious piles of stones'. By 6 am I had just the arrow head to go. I stopped the car and changed clothes as I was getting hot in the thermals. ... and the car would not start. 2 hours later the RAA turned up and said I had a flat battery. [?] [?] [?]
Found the remaining caches (except the couple that are now missing) and headed south for the Wandering Heros series finding the odd one along the road.
The Wandering Hero series are different containers at different distances from the road so they were a little trickier to find at times and my find rate slowed down a little. Slowly the day continued and my count continued to grow, passing 200 and 300. Just after 7:30pm I passed 400 caches and I eventually stopped at 8pm exhausted just before Mindarie.
20 hours and just over 400 caches.

We attacked this series with gusto to see if we could finish it in one go.
Had it planned that once we started that we would push on.
What we found was all the caches in good condition and the space
to pull off the road made it a great series. A couple of caches were
not really in their hidey holes but that is to be expected when a series gets
smashed during a Mega.

I found this cache on the 21/4. The day before my birthday. Teamed up with 2 other teams from the Geocaching Geelong District, Ogrebeast & TR! and went a bit insane. You only live once and I have 'Seize The Day' tattooed on my lower back, so I better live by it!
We logged in short form to save time and space.
We aimed to do the Oz Mega GeoArt, from 1 all the way through til 174. We did that, then we wanted to get to 200 for the day, why not? Not going to get much of a chance to do it again!

On our OzMega Holiday to Murray Bridge we decided to complete the geo art on offer. So we teamed up with Ogrebeast to complete 200 in a day and this one was selected. Frog_Lady joined in and we had a great day. TFTC and the adventure. SL

Ca-ching! That's another nice, easy find on the power trail!

After getting our 8 types in 1 day (actually managed to get more than that - 9 in total) yesterday, we decided to pack up the campsite and head out to hit one of the powertrails. KBKL and Sixpack69 had never done a full on powertrail so it was time to expose them to the maddness involved.

We set our sites on the "Oz Mega 2014 SA" series, beginning with the random puzzles, then the traditionals, then lunch and then out to hit the rest of the puzzles. In total, we collected 170 finds and 1 DNF. We purposely looked for the 2 that were having neighbour troubles so we removed them from the GPS prior to commencing to ensure we did not arrive at those locations to look for the caches.

We completed the trail in good time, taking it in turns between us all to jump out of the wild-mobile to collect the caches. The poor self made stamp got a flogging today but definately made the trail alot quicker. Some caches were located from the roadside others took a little looking.

Thanks to everyone involved in placing this powertrail for us to collect. We will be back in the next couple days to collect the Signal trail

Congratulations TeamHurtle. The bananas thank you for this series. Attending OZ MEGA 2014 and found our way here. It just seems like deja vue all over again.

Day 3 of the Oz Mega - and we are still on a roll, having done far more caches than we thought possible!
We are having a lot of fun doing these caches, very few muggles to contend with, and meeting far fewer other cachers than we had expected, made for a very pleasant day out!

We have never cached for numbers, but we are on a mission.......

TFTC we are in awe of just how much time must have been spent to set up all these trails.

Day three of Oz Mega, and after dropping off the better half of the team, so he could assemble more LEDs, Balloons, and glow sticks for tonights entertainment, Mrs Bundy headed back out with Dobhareach from Canada to find more caches.

Day Three at Oz mega and I’m loving it. With this series I wanted to get over 500 finds and we did! The Oz Mega is a great way to meet new people and get the number of finds up!

Travelling around the world to attend the Oz Mega 2014, and I've been having a great time.

Jenny of team BundyRum&Coke and I did some caching together and this was one of our finds.

I solved the OZ Mega Puzzles before flying into the country and was prepared to attempt the trail. This is very reminiscent of the ET Trail near Las Vegas.

Thanks for the cache.

It’s taken until the next set of school holidays for me to get enough time together to log the 112 finds that we ended up finding during this day on the Oz Mega. NiftyNevAu and myself made the trip over from regional Victoria to come and play at the Oz Mega. Along for the ride was AvalonCass who had only found one cache, which was on the way over, and was keen to learn. NiftyNev had managed to complete all the puzzles before we left so we were well armed. Our biggest caching day so far had been 30 odd a long time back so we were aiming for as many as we could with the hope of over 100.
We had a great time working as a team. A driver, a navigator, and a get out and run to sign the cache as quick as they can person. We hit our 100 goal and thought we would clean up a few of the closest ones that we knew we could quickly get to finish up as it was getting late. The only thing we didn’t realise was that #1 was a traditional on the start of the arrow and we were doing the Puzzles up further….. Well we picked that one up on the way home a couple of days later so we could post to it.

Up bright and early to grab some caches in the huge power trails around the SA mega site. Teamed up with La Kedi and The Marble and made our way along the trail enjoying the scenery as we went. Big thanks to all involved in placing and maintaining all the caches. TFTC

We had come to the Mega from Queensland intending to do some of the power trails and as we had heard a couple of other geocachers talking about how they had collected 200 for the day, that was our unofficial target today. This would mean completing the ‘Oz Mega trail’ and topping the number of finds up with some of the ‘Wandering Heroes’ trail also.
Armed with a printout of the mapped cache locations (a few hours spent doing Sudoku puzzles there) and the hints of course, we set off on the Oz Mega trail around 9am. We started at the arrow point and worked our way out from there working at a steady pace. We much appreciated the CO’s efforts to place many of the caches on tracks that ran alongside the main roads thus being able to get the car off the highway. All the caches we found were in good condition – most by now with a nice geo-trail leading to the cache.
We stopped at dusk (about 6pm) and did the tally. We had missed a couple here and there not wanting to waste any time if we didn’t spot it within a minute or so but in the end we managed: 167 of the Oz Mega trail, 34 of the Wandering Heroes plus one other traditional cache that was along the route for a grand total of 202 for the day.

What a week this has been at the Ozmega Event in Murray Bridge SA. I have so many caches to log so it will have to be a cut and paste log because of the numbers but this does not mean that that I don't appreciate the effort that all the cache owners have put in to hide these caches because without the hiders we would not have the pleasure of finding the vast number of caches that have been placed in this area and also the owners of caches along the roads that we have to travel to arrive in M.B and return back to our homes.
I left Geelong on Wednesday 16th April 2014 and arrived home a week later with close to 500 caches found and now the mammoth task of logging all of these caches.
Thanks to all the cache owners and to TeamHurtle for this OzMega 2014 trail for all the work in setting it up.
Early Saturday I ventured out to this group with fellow Victorian cacher Riddell signing the logs as B&R and finding all except #48 which caused some concern to a local but was the last cache found on the 21st April after another big days caching before the long journey home.
This is not the order we found these but for ease of logging I will log in order.

A great day to be riding along the Oz Mega trail by pushbike, stopping every 161 metres or so for a cache find
Approaching lunchtime the traffic died down a bit and the scenery had become a lot more peaceful [^]

Had a great day out with iluvtrekking doing this series. Mostly successful, only three dnf's but probably due to our inputting wrong co-ords. Thanks for the mighty effort in putting this all together Team Hurtle - well done and much appreciated.

The famous powertrails around Murray Bridge have been top of my hit list for this Oz Mega 2014 weekend since they were placed, and today was the perfect day to go out and get some pretty geo-art coloured smiley-faced .

I set out bright and early with The Marble and bulldozer72 cruising around collecting caches, a bit chilly and overcast, but generally enjoying ourselves.

We appreciate your efforts in hiding and maintaining so many caches, so TFTC, TeamHurtle. =^.^=
