Today is the third day of our extra long weekend for Taurus Six and I . We are staying in the Serpentine / Jarrahdale area . Wow there were some big storms and lots of rain here over night . So we did not know what to expect first thing , would it be rainy all day , would everywhere be water logged. However we were very pleasantly surprised that for the most part it was sunny and pleasant with just the odd shower or two throughout the day . Yes there had been lots of rain over night but this made the Serpentine Waterfall even more spectacular and the bush even more fresh and alive . We are glad we had saved the falls walk and the Baldwins Bluff walk in the Serpentine National Park until today, it was perfect for it. All in all a good day hiking and exploring and 12 geocaches to our name as well. This was our second cache find of the day along with a nearby Adventure Lab element . We undertook The Baldwin Bluff Trail from the Serpentine Waterfall Car Park , it was a fabulous trail and certainly a heart starter to get up on to the ridge , we loved it though and so glad we came this way . For this cache we had to hang back and let muggle hikers get in front of us before we could make the quick find . Thanks for the cache find .
This one is in a good easy to find spot especially in the terrain, left some stickers I. There for anyone
Find 3 of 9 on a pleasant hike in Gnome country. We had a special guest today - our son on the occasion of his 20th birthday. The caches were a bonus on top of our walk down to the falls from Scrivener Road, then back up to Baldwin's Bluff.
All good here, dropped a TB as these caches seem pretty safe and voluminous.
TFTC firnsy & OOH YEH!

We wanted to come find the 2001 cache at the end of this walk and managed to talk our Perth friends into giving geocaching a go. They're enjoying the caching but we probably should have chosen an easier hike!
Thanks for find #4416

First one in the ant trail that we looked for going back for the others now!
Actually found this one by accident on our first hike on this trail, and it made me go looking for an app to start looking for more while on hikes!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Out for a Sunday picnic with the grandkids and after the walk to the falls then a barbecue lunch we walked it off by heading up to one of Perth's old caches at the lookout. These ones were a bonus to look for on the way. They were also fairly easy and the grandkids soon had no problems picking them out.
Next one down the track and it was quickly spotted but I played the hotter colder game with the kids to get them to zero in.

TFTC! SL took the cutest gum nut ever amazing catus painting we ever seen on the nut in exchange for a lil ol pumpkin️
I continued along the trail, much easier than climbing to the valley. Another quick find.
A big day of gnomes and ants! I got all of the traditional and clues and had success with both finals. It was a mission. TFTC firnsy and maintainers.

From time to time I have looked longingly over this part of the map but after reading some of the logs of previous cachers, I hadn't quite been game enough to head out here solo. So you can imagine my delight when Axell33 suggested that Rexxy17 and I come along on a trip to Gnome territory to tackle the Ant series of caches and possibly some gnome caches too.
After successfully completing the challenging nearby Gnome fun multi we made our way to the start of the Serpentine Ant Trail. With Axell33's previous knowledge of the area, and taking turns navigating; we managed to complete this series and knock off a few of the more difficult Gnomehunter caches... not without our fair share of trips, scratches, and prickle bush face slaps..
Spirits were high though and a thoroughly enjoyable day was had.
Thanks firnsy and OOH YEH for placing and maintaining this series.

Did a maintenance run on all the ant caches and have replaced all containers. The clues are on the lids and on the logbooks. They are all hidden back where they were.
Had the cache pegged as we walked up to GZ.

The call came through from Mr Fratra last week to see if I was available to head back out to Gnome Territory and complete the western section of the caches out here. After a bit of back and forth we found that today was a good day for both of us and organised to meet nice and early to beat the heat.
When we met up at the designated meeting point we looked at the map and decided on a rough sequence to head to all the caches. Lots of heavy scrub meant some of the going was a little slow and the walking along the path for some of the ANT caches seemed luxurious.
In the end we were out for 5 ½ hours and collected all 18 caches that we went for before retiring for lunch at the Byford.

Thanks firnsy for placing this cache for me to find, this is find number 1981 for me.

Hatched a plan with Cirrus_WA to tackle some more Gnomes and Ants. A pleasant if at times difficult and strenuous 5 hours with good company. Walked away with 18 smilies and a sprained ankle.
TFTC firnsy this is find # 8905 for us.

So many ant nests on this trail. Finally we found this cache. Thank you for hiding.

After a few weeks of being really busy, it was nice to go out and grab a few caches.
Nice to clear this trail, without being bitten by these critters

Out to continue the drive to 5000. Thanks OOH YEH for bringing me to this location and taking the time to hide and maintain this cache. I found the cache at 11:47:00. This was my Find 12 for today out of a Total number of 18 Finds and 1 DNF for for this Caching Outing. The cache was found in Good Condition and I signed the log and returned the cache as I found it.
This find brings my total number of Finds to 4873.

It’s a kid free day so Kapelula and I hit the geotrails today’s aim is for a old cache and to complete this Ant trail which is living up to its name! We have walked, danced and slapped our way through this series. The walk was lovely but the ants were something else. Happy to say all caches found and in good condition. Tftc
This was a lovely walk to do today. Flew home for Easter and didn't want the rain to keep my indoors, so convinced the sister and the Mum to drive over to Serpentine to see the Waterfall and to collect this series as it was suggested it would only take an hour or so, which was perfect for Mum.
The track had a couple of big puddles but it was to be expected considering the weather. As we walked there was rain mixed with sunlight and was a great day.
The caches were all relatively easy to find, but the true joy today was the walk.
Cheers Firnsy for this series, a fav point for the Final.

So far there are no dreaded ant nests beside the caches and that is good . SL TFTH OOH YEH/firnsy.
Firstly, apologies for the lateness in logging.
Despite my tardiness, you can be assured I enjoyed each and every cache found and not found.
Apologies if this is a generic log, my memory is good, but not that good.
This was found on a great trip to WA from Vic
Thanks again firnsy

A little late to the party, but today was the day I decided to tackle the Ant Trail and Gnomes series at Serpentine. The Ant Trail certainly lived up to its name, the track was crawling with the little biters from start to finish. Ant Trail caches were all relatively easy to find and remain in good condition. TFTC firnsy and OOH YEH
Ticked this series off last Friday with Spike Wasn't feeling the best but it was such a nice day I would let it stop me! I see where the series got its name from!
My 200th find Another quick cache just off of the path. Saw a blue tounge lizard on the way to this one!

Today we completed the last leg of the civilisation tribe series all bar one pesky DNF, which we really enjoyed! Love the thought that goes into these caches, and the bush serenity helps aswell. We completed the tribes series early and then made our way to ant and gnome land.
We started well enough completing the ants series whilst collecting some of the various gnome hunter caches aswel which was a bit of a bush bash even straight from the path. We finished up grabbing the serpentine vista LPN cache at the very end, a nice touch to grab a 2001 cache. After grabbing the final on the way back to the parking waypoint we decended into hell.
Not having Read the cache listing we decided on a way to best approach the series using some satellite maps and some gut feeling. Don't do this. Read the listing. (After all steve usually prepares enough and reads about trails prior to completing)
What eventuated was hours of hard slog. Up and down, under and over and for the most part through. Through thick bush that two big blokes at times punched, kicked and generally bush bashed our way through.
Apparently We did the gnomes backwards . With some slight deviations going straight line caching from cache to cache. Again, not recommended. Read the cache page. Either way it won't be easy!!
About 5 hours of misery, mud, thick bushes, scratches. The last 100m to the path was bad, very bad. We didn't follow the directions. It was so bad Steve was tempted to walk in the creek to get back to the track. The last 300m to get back to the track took nearly an hour.
Safe to say we didn't get all the gnome hunter caches, but did manage to get the guardian gnome cache.
Being suckers for punishment we decided to go and grab a couple of others on the way home as there was no way we were grabbing the remaining gnome hunter caches an a couple of APs. They will have to wait.
We picked he perfect day for it. Max of 16 degrees, good weather and good company helped us amass nearly 50 finds for the day, including several caches that hadn't been found for up to 15 months!
I'm sure firnsy is probably sitting back in NZ having a chuckle at this log. On a side note we did replace some damanged containers, added log sheets to help the maintainer.
It would leave a big hole in any WA Cachers CV ti have not completed the gnomes.
Won't be back this way until next winter as reptiles will be back out soon. Thanks for the memories.
I would normally say TFTC or thanks for the cache in my log. I'm not sure if i want to say thanks for today's caching adventure!!

Hatched a plan with Granett to come out and grab the last of the Gnomes. It's been a fair while since we were out here, with good reason too!
Nice quick grab on the path out.

OOH YEH, I found your cache Serpentine Ant Trail 3 on 10/6/17.

Well it's taken 2½ years but KrabiBoy and I were back today to clean up the rest of the Gnome Hunters and cross off the Ant Trail series. After about 4½ hours with a few slips and slides here & there our mission was complete.
Another quick and easy find here and it's just the final left. Luckily it was is in the direction we were heading.
OOH YEH I found your cache at 11:15am, this was the 19th of 22 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 4024. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.
