No luck for us, wondering if it’s gone. There has been a lot of work done at GZ and it looks like this may have been buried.
Lots of work going on clearing the area so i had to skip this one. Hopefully the cache survives.
As per the last find, here I was able to get even dirtier and down to earth for a find and sign. There was even a piece of finest bone china as camo, lol. Pipe down G, I checked it thoroughly after my Foe Par at Matakana.
After lunch back at the house we headed out for a small walk accepting we would get wet, but with coats to keep us dry-ish. We did a 6 cache walk along by the marina and a nice walk it was with time to admire fish, birds and Humphrey the 'Sea Elephant' statue.
A dreary, drizzly day today so not much planned except a couple of short excursions and chill out at the house. We did head out in the morning past Onemana to the forest lookout at the end and that was nice, though damp. Thanks to all CO for his hides.
I have got a busy few days coming up, and am heading north to the Coromandel peninsula for the weekend with a work holiday home booked for this upcoming long weekend, including stat day on Monday. Then I'm heading home with mrs c for a couple of days leave followed by a couple of days WFH before heading back to Manawatu and my new work area at the weekend. Not massive numbers of cache finds but a few to keep things ticking over and a surprising amount by Auckland based COs too! Thanks to all cache owners for their contributions.

I didn't so much as get down and dirty but certainly got very wet walking to this cache. The grass was thigh high and after the recent heavy rain it was very wet! I intitally went down a little far but finding nothing I searched higher and there it was. Now I have to wade back through that grass and get even wetter, my waterproof boots no longer feel waterproof!
Lots of cutty grass round here to navigate through. The Seagnoid finally tracks this one down. Cheers
Day 11 - Monday 28 December - Pauanui - Puketui Valley - Whangamata. Another full on day and hills to conquor!
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

This was a little awkward to get to. Legs got a little sliced. But they do say if there is no blood then you are not doing it right!
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

The hard part of this one is the clambering up and over! Another one where keeping a sharp eye out for something out of place pays off. Great cache.

After dodging around this one we decided to give it a try. Tide was out thank goodness while we were looking.
Workout for the day.

Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
At this point we've done so many g-2 caches we think like him and found in the first place we searched. Tftc.
Hallo, auf der Rundreise durch Neuseeland auch einige Caches mitgenommen.
Danke fürs Verstecken und

This cache was in a difficult place which was made more difficult with my back pain. Powered by two double-chocolate muffins, I made my way over to GZ. I almost lost the top into the drink, but caught it in time. TFTC.
We all scrambled up, and Mr HeMaLuDy scrambled down to do an initial search for the cache. He searched high and low for a while before saying those magic words "found it". Found with darthcacher1, purply and hoofnt
Found at 17:19.
Our second trip to New Zealand. This time we explore the North Island for 3 weeks. This was one cache we found.
Well, this took a while but didn't get dirty
Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache G_2

We smelt the area before we took view of it over the brow [xx(]. How down and dirty did I really want to get... [?] Geocchi watched from above as he probably wondered the same thing .....
Just as I was about the play 'the prude' and turn away, I suddenly spied something across two feet away from where I started. Yus! Tftc G_2!

I wasn't too keen on making a track through the over grown foliage, so I gave this one a miss. Cheers
No problems here, the cache was soon in hand.
Signed the log and replaced as found

Miss this on way through. Picked on way back. Nice and peaceful here. Tide is out so piggy could be rolling in the mud. Lol Left swaps in these size caches today. Thanks for a good day out.
Would feel wrong leaving town without clearing out the caches to find so headed along the path for the remainder of the caches along here.
A quick find here too thanks to the good coords and description. Didn't need to get dirty here.

I got down and dirty too - the mangroves do make a mess. Cache all good and log and other things all nice and dry. TFTC
Our last cach at this location tomorrow we’ll continue our travel south

Geocaching day at whanga, other side this time. I don't like the smell of mangroves but it's an important ecosystem. I let a foam seacow key ring (from New Caledonia). TFTC
Got down. Got dirty. MRS tryfyn decided to sit this one out. So scrabbled around in the mud and then thought, "Hang on, this is LOW tide". Cache was soon in hand and I escaped the mangroves. TFTC.
I have set myself a challenge for this year to have at least the same number of caches on each day of my calender as the number of years I have been caching.
Today the target is twelve but I just might go over that number. I am very thankful to the COs that there are quite a few caches in Whangamata for me continue with my challenge.
I replaced the old full log with a new empty one.
Cheers for the cache.

Yay second time lucky with having a DNF on my last visit here I was keen to try tick this one off the list. An early morning stroll and a quick duck of the path and down to the GZ. I checked all the places I looked last time in case I had missed it. No luck there - but a further hunt around the obvious ledge lead me to the find. TFTC
Making our very first trip ever to Whangamata this weekend. Our primary purpose being to find as many G--2 caches as we can, as we are trying to qualify for a Nelson Challenge cache, to complete 1000 caches by one cache owner.
Not being sure of the best access to this one, we left this cache for our return along the walkway. Hmm, seems there's no best access, so up and over it is. Fortunately we didn't need to get quite so down and dirty as Piggy to find the cache.

Had to ask the more agile one to go down the bank to retrieve. Saw some interesting wildlife! Tftc
No troubles with this one - although if I had read the title a bit more carefully I wouldn't have make a detour on the way to GZ. T4tc
Just when we thought an easy trail. Up and over and a bit of a scramble, but no real issues. thanks.
Up and over to get to this cache, no need to get too dirty and the cache was soon located. Always interesting to watch the birdlife in the mangroves and they really made sure we knew they didn't like our presence there. Cache all good. Thanks
Not one of the nicest areas to search but was a relatively quick find so all good. TFTC
2289 After CITO in Waihi carried on to clear some caches (28) in Whanga. Took some time to find. Too many options. Eventually got the right one.
Awesome find with the kids the fitness equipment around the walk is awesome too!
Searched and searched at the likely spots. But unfortunately couldn't spot this one.
Out for the evening to get a few caches while the family slept! Another quick find... Almost a swim!! Tftc
#11441. Footing wasn't the best, and I was happy for Troodles to lead the way and find the cache. TFTC.
Today we are leaving Whitianga and are heading to Waihi. As it's not a long journey, we had a few stop offs en route, including a bike ride around Whangamata. With the long weekend over, the traffic volume was less than what we had been experiencing, thank goodness!
Easy find - just followed the geotrail! Not so easy traversing the terrain and was a bit worried I'd end up in the mangroves, as the vegetation was a bit slippery. Negotiated without incident. TFTC.

You're right! Sturdy footwear would have been better - Mr L blew a jandal on his way up the bank, and proceeded to slide down the other side on his back. Finished the slide right next to GZ; log signed shortly after. Might head back into town now for a new pair. TFTC.
Didnt spot the geotrail here and made this one much harder than it needed to be.
I spotted something referring to the hint in a much harder to get to area, pushing the terrain rating up a notch or 2. Nope no cache here... Oh wait waits that well worn trail down there...! doh!! Cache quickly found soon after, TFTC!

I spotted the likely entrance here, Vamber and my other half were looking elsewhere but I didn't have the pen. Once they caught up, I scrambled to the cache to sign the log as KKKT
Checking out some of the caches of Whangamata with KirsTim today. Logs were signed at KKKT to represent the first names of all the members of the team today. Thankfully we didn't need to get too down and dirty here. Thanks for the hide!
Rummagred around the long grass and debris until finally located the secret spot ..got down but not to dirty tftc great hide??
Continuing in our quest to find a couple more caches, as our crew is in need of a good coffee, a really good coffee
We followed the geotrail, and on the other side I went for a short slide, but no harm. Whilst gorby is searching the obvious, I am reading out the hint/description, then I look and spot the cache in its hiding spot. Hey gorby can you reach? I was on another level, so easier for him to grab LOL
The tide is out, so its a little smelly at GZ, not too bad! yep this pest plant "blue morning glory" is everywhere grrrr

We clambered up the steep wet grass, rusty got a shock as she came to the top, why?...steep drop off, that's why!.... She slid down the other side to the concrete. I was searching in the right spot, but she found the cache quicker than me a little higher, that's all good. Supernanny was with us, tagging along for the laughs and fun we're having. Rebel and Ric are now doing their own thing somewhere.
Need to be reasonably agile to get this. Those weeds are very invasive. We have them at home and regularly cull them and have now created a lovely Sandy beach. Thanks for bringing us here
Spending a few days in Whangamata with friends at their beach house. We decided today we should get out of their hair for a while and Geocaching was a good reason. Headed off towards the beach, not really knowing where we were going, but knowing we needed to keep away from the major crowds.
Managed not to get dirty. But the wind is gusting strongly with an air temperature of 27ºC and we were getting burnt. So decided that it was time to repair to some shade.
Thanks G--2.

Guess what.......I had jandals on!!!
Not to worry up and down, without a mishap. Another great hide.

Thought this was going to involve getting wet or muddy....but was no problem.!
I got down there, but not dirty ! Ric spotted the right ledge first .

7090. Out for the day geocaching with Nodo, from Waihi to Whangamata and back. Found 29 caches in total. This was cache number 13 and a bit of a challenge with regard to terrain and area, but found quite quickly. Then off to a nice lunch at a cafe. Thanks for the cache. Rodney and Iris.
Another funny one. Found with a bunch of geomates on a weekend in Coromandel on our l ast day, signed as CNSZ. TFTC

Wasn't too hard to get, we really expected wet feet, but managed without doing so. Our last day of a long weekend caching, we teamed up and called ourselves CNSZ to save log space. We had a great little stroll collecting these ones as a break on our journey home and a warm up to lunch. Thanks for putting them out, we had fun finding them and the areas they were hidden in.
On a geocaching weekend with my favourite geo buddies, we hope to get loads of caches this weekend. We've decided to sign the log sheet as - day trippers CNSZ in order to save space on the log sheets. Thanks to the cachers who hid these caches for us to find and make our weekend such fun.
Final before lunch, Mrs pbslost got muddy as I couldn't do much due to a hand injury.
Got up here in between rain showers. Either way still got some wet feet. Took a bit of searching but found in the end.
