Two of us finally got around to doing a walk around the dam to check on all of our caches.
As suspected, this cache was no longer there. Yertle must have swum away during the heavy rain and flooding earlier this year. ??
We first discovered Yertle nearly 10 years ago, before finding him a home at Manly Dam. So, sadly, there is no replacement for him and we had to archive the cache.

A girlfriend from Melbourne was in Sydney with work for a few days, and she said that she'd love to come and learn about geocaching. Sadly, Yertle was nowhere to be seen. I called the CO and we discussed the expected location. My friend and I had another search, and looked in the shallow water nearby, but we suspect that Yertle may have got carried away in the recent floods...
Such a cool container. Log is nice and dry despite being so close to water. TFTC.

Yertle had wandered away from his home when we found him. We actually found him on his back in the water - not where he's supposed to be. So, not surprisingly, the log sheet was totally soaked. We dried him off and added a fresh log sheet and cache note in a new ziplock bag. Then we returned him to dryer ground.
Paper is completely wet so it needs to be replaced no clue either it seems but could have been written on the paper itself.
We love this series. The youngest geokid found this one! Log is quite damp but still usable. We rebadged it. Left a trackable for the next cachers.
Such a great camo. We were at the time where there was a water dragon so didn’t know what to do.
Nice hide. This did take Geo-Bunny a while to locate as it is a very well hidden cache. With signing duties conducted it was replaced as found ready for the next geo-adventurers.
Thanks goes to the CO for this cache and bringing us to this location.

zargfinders I didn’t find your cache ZFPT15 - Yertle's Sticker Swap on 13/11/20, 3:00 pm. Tried to search the likely places but came up empty.
Took a lot longer than planned, but glad we didnt give up! Found with chooksgg, tftc!
Time is getting on so had to give up the search before I could find it. Most likely still there, I’m just way behind schedule
This one had us looking around for a little while until someone in the group spotted something that looked like it would hiding the cache.

Fav point awarded as we had a laugh at the container.

Went on a cache maintenance trip around the dam this afternoon. We almost thought Yertle had gone AWOL, but finally spotted him a short distance from his intended home. The geozone has much less vegetation than when Yertle originally made his home there over 7 years ago! Repositioned him closer to the original hiding spot.
We accidentally sat on it and it was nowhere near were it was so we moved back to we’re it should be your welcome:)
We hared from the previous cache to this one, which was a bit exposed, so left it a little more hidden. TFTC
Did a short cache maintenance run this afternoon to check on the caches that were impacted by last month's heavy rain. A huge thanks to vk2df for doing some preliminary checking and maintenance for us.
Added a new plastic bag with new cache note and log sheet to this cache. There are no stickers left to swap. But the cache is ready and waiting to be found.

#1954 Seventh of ten finds today caching around Manly Dam. Found after a short search. Loved the cleverness of the cache container. TFTC and your creativeness
DNFed a few years ago but quick find today. It was fun to spot an old friend from my childhood peaking out at me. SL TNLN TFTC

This was the fourth of five geocaches today on a short but really enjoyable walk to complete a part of the series, but these where certainly some of the most creative best caches i've done so far, and most of my past favorites are by zargfinders as well. I now yertile from childhood, and any one who has picked up a book would know that Yertile is a _______. Very cute and creative cache hidden under some camo just a little bit off the trail, really enjoyed it.

Today was the day to complete the ZFPT.
So we did it! We finished it in 6 hours.
Had to call CO for assistance. Found 20/21
As we missed a clue we did the guess and check
strategy until we found the final!
TFATC Zargfinders Appreciate Your Efforts.

Found it very exposed. Cute camo. Liked it. Sadly the stickers and log we're quite wet. Thanks.
some others and I found this cache whilst out and about. I am now catching up from some geocache logging after the ozgeomuster and the rest of the weeks full of geocaching. TFTC co's. i apologize for all of the generic logs
Geo 4 yr old was getting agitated that he hadn't found a cache yet, so geo 7 and 9 yr old 'didn't see' this one before him. Super cute just pointing out there. Loving the variety of camo's today.
Log regarding the series: Twice a year I am able to convince the fam to come caching for the day - mothers day and my birthday! So with my birthday taken up by kids activities we headed out for a family day out today. We found 20 out of 20 caches in this series! Including the five that had a DNF before us. Geo 4 yr old managed the whole track without complaint, although it took us 5 3/4 hrs to do the whole loop with only a quick morning tea and lunch break. The track was very wet after a week of heavy rain so it slowed us down significantly as we scrambled around the edges trying to keep our feet dry (thankfully the 4 yr old was equipped with water proof boots so at least he wasn't slowed down even further...). Parking cost us $35 for the day - which I wasn't expecting - yikes! We could have parked outside the park but the alternate thought of making the kids walk even further meant it was money well spent. What a great series. We had a lot of fun, pity the weather wasn't warmer, we would have a lot of fun swimming here too. Thanks so much for placing and maintaining this PT.

Checked on the cache while on a cache maintenance run today.
Cleared out some of the excess contents in the cache. Fortunately there were no ants in sight while we were there, so the cache is nice and clean now.

Nice quick find although there was an ants nest in there and couldn't write in the log book TFTC
Went for a walk around the dam with FlappyBirds today in an attempt to find 20 ish but we fell short of that to 18 attempts
I somehow couldn’t see what’s in plain sight luckily I had FlappyBirds with me so he found it but lots of ants inside so we were unable to sign log we sent a photo to CO though
Found with FlappyBirds TFTC #51 (16 of 18)

After a long day at the zoo we decided to go for some caching.
We (jsson, Sivun and myself) logged as IJS.
A sunny day perfect for a longer walk. We started off rather late but managed to walk the series within around 4 hours. We had some DNF and one cache we did not have in our gps. A very nice series with some challenging caches too.
Thanks for placing a cache for me to enjoy and find.

I was very much distracted by searching the echidna's hole (didn't not disturb anyone, but I've never seen an echidna in the wild). Luckily Anominous Sign was up for the cache search. TFTC!
No echidna today, but we did find a yittle yurtle. Thanks again Zargfinders
Adorable camo, quickly found once the compass settled and sent us in the right direction. TFTC!

It was more than two years ago that I did this excellent series. However at that time, this one eluded me. I've had a watch on it ever since and regularly saw people finding it - I can't believe that it's taken me this long to get back here. I'll have to remember though that in future if I'm going to DNF something to make it a bit closer to the car park
The track still seemed familiar after all this time and I felt I knew where many of the other caches were even though I didn't take the time to check them out again today. GZ also seemed very familiar - especially after I had that sinking feeling when I rechecked the places I remember searching last time. Hmmm - where could Yertle be hiding? Then I had that head-slap moment when I spotted it. How could I possibly have missed that??? Oh well - my name is now in the log and the frown has been turned into a smiley at long last.
TFTC zargfinders - I still have very fond memories of the ZFPT. Happy that I finally completed it

Found this cache with aries44 on a lovely day well away from home. Haven't been over this way for many years.
Passed lots of very friendly people on our way around the dam.
