Hiya, I found the bucket down by the bridge/gate/map area of the Waipa carpark, didn't have enough data strength to check its status. I'm home now, with the bucket sans lid but with logbook/toys etc, (I recognised it instantly as the toy I put in was on top), and I see it's archived. Does anyone want to revive it? I'll pm you Wingnut.
On a little road trip with fellow cachers, TnxPro & Phillip Perry today. Brought the bikes and off we headed. Signed logs DJP today to save space. As fellow cacher had this on his GPS, we took turns walking up to this, didnt realise until we got home, we both found different containers, my container was a large white bucket as shown in pic, his was smaller, both had swag in them, so not sure how this has happened and then we find out that its even archive/disabled, quite confusing, but amazing views, cheers.
On an impromptu caching trip in the great Redwood forest today. I joined up with Philip.Perry and Mc Jandals. We brought the bikes today and semi planned to get as many caches as possible along the bike trails.
I had no idea that this cache had been archived today because I had uploaded the caches last night and it was in the PQ list still. Seeing we had slogged up here on the bikes I was really keen on checking out the view, so headed up to look for this one. The view was outstanding, but I forgot to take a pic from here. Instead I took one from the lower level lookout which I will post later maybe.
I admit I did not even read any of the details on the cache page, so had no idea what i was looking for. Jan waited by the bikes, while I headed up the short track to the lookout.
Sooo, when i got to the lookout, I continued past it, down a little track and found a painted cache container beside the track. I opened it, found a bag full of soggy logs and a fresh bag in it with a fresh log book, so signed the log as normal. Job done, nothing unusual or difficult here. (Or so I thought!)
It was such a great sight that I suggested Jan went up and saw that view too.
Well, it was only on our drive home, that I discovered that this cache was actually archived and Philip kept talking about teddy bears, which I couldnt work out how there were teddy bears in the container, because the one I found wasnt big enough. And then I learned that the cache was a large white bucket. Huh? What did I find then? Jan found the bucket and I missed it. How did I miss it? Oh yeah, I didnt read the cache details. But the cache container I found was within a few meters of GZ.
I'm puzzled, but even though the cache is archived, I still feel the need to log a found it. Hope its okay.
Anyway, its a fantastic spot, which deserves a cache up here. I hope someone can adopt it and keep it going.

Letting this go as people keep vandalizing it. Some one is welcome to take it over if they wish.
Had to back track to get this but glad I did as I managed to get a good veiw of Pohutu in its full glory.

We have found this one during our geotrip to China and New Zealand. We have enjoyed our 10 day stay in New Zealand a lot, especially its beautiful nature and atmosphere. Many thanks for the cache and also for showing us this nice place. Greetings from the Czech Republic.
Found it upside down with no lid, lots of beautiful toys getting damaged, everything soaked
Found during Tokorangi Pa track. Beautiful woods, clear air.
Nice free view to geyser. I was wrong when I wrote in my log in of "Free Geyser View" that the cache is the biggest I've ever seen or found NO, this one is the biggest one

Good climb to a beautiful with Nanna and Miss and Master Wallace today. Bucket not where location described so re-placed where should be. My co-ords a bit off. Bucket missing a lid so have emailed Wingnut ....the stuffed animals so far are dry but won't be if another bout of rain comes through! TFTC
What a wunderful view to the Geysir - we've made a Lot of Fotos.
The big box was easily found. Thanks For The Cache and many greetings from Germany.

10:30pm found at 8:15pm. Had been up to this one before with livee_nz before I had a geocaching profile. A pretty cool view at night as well. A wallaby was also trying to find this cache - came within a metre of me while I was logging it! TFTC Wingnut
We also visited the upper viewpoint and i found the box after i ignored the hint

The first day in rotorua. There are so many things to see in this area! And luckily we have great weather! Its a hot and sunny summerday. Right after the breakfast we went for the redwoods. Very impressive trees around here. We did a short walk (the green one) and found some caches on the way. After the redwoods we wanted to see the geyser from the view point shown by this cache! Great spot.
We could see the geysere's fountain just the moment we arrived at the fence. Thats luck. After we watched the geyser we looked for the cache. Easy found and a very big cache!! Thank you very much!!

Woooahhh what a view and what a climb! we took the bikes up nursery and headed up here! thanks for this awesome location which gets a fav from us for the view!! The bucket was out in the open when we found it so we stuffed it back in.
Just found this cache by accident, saw the big bucket in the bush and thanks to my curiousity I had a look inside.
Nice view to the geyser here!

Our third geocache today! As we only started today and are traveling from the UK we are excited about this find. Fairly easy to find once up the hill. Lovely little toys inside!
We are still moving with our VR and doing some caches along.
This one merit a favorite.

We arrived in the afternoon in Rororua and decided not to visit the park with Te Puia, but go for a picnic and a hike. Came up to this point with a great view of the Geyser. TFTC
Hideeho Thanks for the cache:) Greetings from The USA, a long haul up here and then raced back down dodging bikes to get back to our driver. Heading to the Mega tomorrow.
Introduced Kyrageohunting with this cache! Unfortunately the rain caught us just before we got there but it stopped and we got some amazing views. Awesome cache full of teddies. We swapped a duck for a kiwi which we'll send overseas.

Didn't expect it to be so easily seen. Made for an easy find. And yay finally found a place for a cute little monkey. grab the coin. Tftc
Having no pre-set plans for today I figured why not head out and pick up a few more caches I need for other pesky challenges. I'm fairly unfamiliar with this area but that's gonna change after finding awesome spots like this. Amazing view. A well stocked cache too, in fact some items had to be stacked in a certain way otherwise I struggled to shut the lid! TB Drop just before a compulsory selfie. Cheers Wingnut Rocks TFTC

Met a local who told us that the whole thing was tipped over and contents spilled out a couple of weeks ago.

We arrived at the lower lookout and - wow! The geyser! Such fun to watch! After the show was over we climbed the steps for a slightly different view and this delightful cache (Mrs D was about to follow the GPS down the back but Mr D pointed out something blatantly obvious in an easier place...).
As we have walked up here for the free view cache this one was a bonus-with a slightly different view. Lots of goodies in a cache we soon spotted. Thanks.
Ninalila and I went for an other walk in the redwoods forest but this time to have a view on Rotorua and the famous geyser.
Sadly it was very low, but maybe is it normal since the lakes around are low too.
We logged with our team name : lekiprokos.
Thank you for the cache and the discovery.

fefe.adrien and I walked to the free lookout in order to see Te Puhia and the famous Puhutu Geyser. Great view ! It was fantastic to see Rotorua, the lake and of course the mud pools.
Wow so many Stuffed toys inside !

I got to the cache around 7pm and really enjoyed the view. Thanks for making this cache up here and all the goodies in it. Biggest cache I've found and definitely deserves the fave! Attaching a pic of me enjoying all the things inside. Wish more geocaches come up here. TFTC
#2121 Out on the MTB and decided to nab a couple of caches while in the park. Made a wee detour up a nasty path with my bike in order to collect Free Geyser View and this one, definitely took the shortest route but not the easiest (with a bike in tow). Quick find once at GZ though and a great sized cache. The view was wonderful and I enjoyed soaking up the sun and taking a few photos while I was there. Geyser very active when I got to this lookout. TFTC!
I was a little confused about the hint to start with but then noticed the little trail and soon spotted the cache.... wow what a whopper, I think that's the biggest one I've seen
After big black bucket at Free geyser view big orange bucket here. Lot of stuffed animals to swap if yoh sre interested. Good view at the Geyser in action.

Beaut lookout views to see what the people below are paying for. Another brilliant geocaching travel hint and a fab size cache.....but can you believe we missed seeing it and walked straight past?! Turned around and BAM! It's bright as well as big. TFTC Wingnut Rocks.
Enjoyed the hike and the view. Thanks for the fun! RocklinGerbs from Rocklin, California.
I really love the NZ understatement regarding the size. In Germany a lot of caches are small film boxes right now. Seeing this one - is a big difference.
From my point of view I like the lower lookout more. But nevertheless: TftC coron

In Rotorua for a conference and staying with a friends family who took me for a wee walk. I huffed and I puffed but I made it. Thank goodness there was a cache to be had making the huffing and puffing all the more worthwhile. Sadly was the only find of the day as the phone won't flat. TFTC.
Found it after some hill training with friends. Swapped my teddy bear with a bright coloured stuffed animal. Awesome view!
All sorted....Big ORANGE bucket....Shouldn't be able to miss this one.... ....
A quick find, not surprising given the size of this one. My daughter was absolutely thrilled to see the contents! Great location - we really enjoyed the view. TFTC!!!
What a gorgeous view! Found this cache easily but as written before, the bucket is gone and everything else on the ground. Our boys took 2 sodden & (to their horror) spider-covered monkeys home with us and we left swag that won't get too ruined by the weather. In our house we have plenty of teddies so when the bucket is replaced, we'll bring some up! thanks for the cache!
Lovely view up here. Sadly not a teddy bear or orange button to push. Thought maybe I found an old cache as mentioned in other logs. Logbook soaked. Left a replacement. Thanks for the views
Hiked up here for the free view of the geyser and actually discovered that this was a wonderful area for a hike! Really enjoyed the scenery! Thanks!

puh, adventurous "trail" Content is completely wet, so I took a picture log only, TFTC.
Quite confused on this one - and wonder if we actually found an old cache? Found on the right of the trail. Contents + log very wet & think a bottle of (now empty) bubble mix might be the culprit. No teddies present. Replaced where we found it.
Not at 10:30pm but at 2:30pm we visited this lookout and Frau Icewiesel saw the container immediately. Tftc.
You've just got to giggle when you find it... Unfortunately we don't have teddys to swap as we loved the cache one... Will have to go on the bucket list (he he) for next Christmas maybe! Thanks for the FUN & GREAT views. Saw the geyser doing it's thing. Don't ya just love caching! Fav point from us. TFTC

Well it was late afternoon and not 10:30 but we enjoyed it!

Mrs H.Hunter, MidiK and MiniJ out for a bike ride. First time in the Redwoods since the girls got bigger bikes, we've come specifically to find this cache! Unfortunately we'd had a big toy room clean up recently and had no Teddy's, so we had to stop on the way to collect some more. MidiK quickly had the cache found and the 'friends' out to play time with. We did enjoy hearing what the monster had to say. By this time MiniJ was attached to the teddy she had travelled with, but MidiK did an exchange for a koala! Dropped off Mrs Socks TB so she could make new friends.
Awesome cache, great incentive for the geo-kids to get up the hill.
