I flew into Christchurch yesterday afternoon for a 3-week bucket list road trip around South Island. I'm spending the first couple of nights in Christchurch, however, since I have a couple of things to sort out before I go, and naturally I'm taking the opportunity to find a few caches as I move around town during the day.Despite the presence of quite a few muggles coming and going, this proved to be a quick find, so much so that I didn't have time to be tempted by the Danish offerings.I have used Project-GC to confirm that I qualify for this challenge. Found this one with TTO1 and TTO2 today. TTO1 and I are touring New Zealand with TTO2 for a couple of weeks and our travels brought us by this cache. So, we just had to stop and find it. I love challenge caches, so was glad that we could stop and find this one. I tried to run the ProjectGC checker for this one, but it crashed. So, I manually put together a list of qualifying caches and have listed them below.Were really enjoying our visit and have been exploring lots of cool spots. Im sure that we will still have a lot that we didnt get to see on this trip, so I look forward to coming back again some time to see some more of this beautiful country. A plan was hatched quite a while ago when the Dunedin Mega was announced to come over to the South Island again.I have only been to New Zealand twice before and I loved the South Island.So a chance to come back for a Mega was a no brainer for me.Everything was booked and I flew in on Saturday 2 weeks ago after a bit of a delay.Hopefully the weather improves today as Im missing the sunshine that I had earlier on this trip.So Day 15 of my Mega NZ starts and I have made it back to Christchurch where this trip began 2 weeks ago.I have throughly enjoyed my time on the South Island and will miss the place.Im doing an outer loop of the city as I had a list of caches that I wanted to find before leaving.I will check on this one when I get home.Thanks La Vista TFTCC.

NZ_B and I are on a road trip to the Geo Toroa Mega. I'm also hoping to get a multi everyday, so it is now titled the "Mega Multi Road Trip". Today is Day 3 and our second day in Christchurch. #3879 Today is day 10 of my geocaching holiday in New Zealand. I'm driving around the outskirts of Christchurch and finding some geocaches in the area.After yesterday's mistake, I could not get this one off my mind. After some research, I found out there was one in Christchurch CBD by ObnoxiousSpaceCat, but was disabled. I had contacted them and it would take some time for it to be replaced. Then, there was [Commander K and the Dinosaur Disaster! (Canterbury](http://coord.info/GC1WCPW) by One-Fang 45km west of CBD, but not on the way of other grocaches planned for the day. Still, I tried solving the puzzle. After getting majority of the geocaches planned for the day, I decided to get to that and and get back to sign this log again before it got dark. And, I MADE IT! Shoot, I got the challenge wrong... unfortunately, I did not fulfill the challenge. --- Today is day 9 of my geocaching holiday in New Zealand. I'm touring around Christchurch and finding some geocaches in the area.While I was browsing the challenge caches here, I was only 3 letters (O, X, and Y) short and had two wild cards. Today, (I thought) I found a cache nearby and fufilled the O. The next challenge was to find the cache. The bakery was closed when I got there, but it still took me a while to find this cache. I ran out of ideas and had to phone a past finder. They then pointed me in the right direction, and I finally made the find. Having signed the log - now back home in the UK I have been able to do the researchA trawl through GSAK revealed a nice selection of COs who have hidden mystery caches and as the challenge is hidden in NZ - we managed to get 21 of the 26 from NZ.- see attached chart -So challenge completed and now logged as foundTFTC and challengeTim and Viv - ddm

Na Zland se nesm vozit potraviny, prodn vci, vt mnostv lk, alkoholu, penz a spousty dalch vc a hlavn cigaret. Taky outdoorov vci jsou striktn hldan, abys odnkud nepivezl blto teba na botech. No peklo. J samozejm radji piznala pr pytlk chips, co mi zbyly, a taky njak cigarety. Pak jsem pl hodiny s celnkem sepisovala papry a musela zaplatit clo za jednu krabiku. A to jsem vt st cigaret zatajila. V Austrlii to tedy tak psn nebrali. Pak jsem si vyzvedla svou KIA sportage a dorazila na motel zcela hotov asi ve 2:30. Spala jsem a do 11 a pak konen vyrazila zkoumat msto. Nejdv tedy mstn univerzitu, kde jsem si dala lehk obd a kafe a la se zkusit vyfotit na starou webcameru. Fotku tam sice mm, ale nejde mi sthnout, tak nevm, zda to klapne. Chvlemi poprchalo, ale jinak je zde o moc pjemnj poas ne v Austrlii, dn velk vedro, vtk a pehky. Autem jsem objela nkolik challeng, trochu se i prola na okraji msta, pak se stavila u star virtulky a pomalu u byl as se pesunout do centra msta, kde jsem mla od 18 hod event. It's 6am. I have been up for an hour, the rest of the household is still asleep, so I am outta here! I thought I would grab a few challenges that I know that That Darn Bear doesn't qualify for, so that everything we do do together she can claim. If she ever wakes up that is. So I got here for a nice easy find. I have this cache marked as solved, which, given that it is a challenge cache, means I qualify. An A-Z of CO's? Easy. But then I realised it is for puzzle caches only. Do I really qualify? Did I label this correctly? #2523. Day 3 of our long weekend in Christchurch and this morning I am heading out to pick up some solved Mystery caches. Yesterday’s blitz on the Monthly Challenge series was successful. Hoping for the same today. The weather is cool and cloudy and all good for caching.

Collecting a friend from the airport late at night - and I realised I was passing this way.
I, too, love Challenge caches - the 1st that I ever found, in Paris, New Year 2012, appears on my list. The last cache for this challenge was found during another Christmas in Paris, 2018.
Great fun looking through the list of caches and remembering various expeditions! There are 2 caches from my 1st ever day caching, 8/5/2010.

I apologise for the poor quality of the photos.

This cache has been on my to-do list for quite some time - originally (probably) because it was a D/T I didn't have. Well I no longer need it for that but it's still an interesting challenge which took me a while to qualify for. According to the checker I have 25 of the 26 letters, so I have used a wild card for my missing letter (Q) in order to meet the qualification rules.

I initially stopped by earlier in the day (mid morning Saturday) but there were too many people coming and going. So I returned 12 hours later, later in the evening, and the whole place was desserted which allowed for searching in peace, and it was a nice quick find. Didn't even need a torch. TFTC.

I found the cache but I think I have one more co to qualify as I can't find their cache because of the temporary closure of an institution. Tomorrow's breakfast will be in the bakery.

I'm gutted! This was supposed to be "the one" to complete Loop 4 of my D/T grid.
I called by on Saturday and moved a few rocks about but the Bakery was fairly busy.
I made a PAF call and he was useless. I messaged a more recent finder and he was of more help.
I returned this morning. Bakery closed - Yay. I left no rock unturned. I scratched around here and there but came up empty handed. I wonder what type of container I was looking for. That may have helped. Neither of my previous finders could remember - lol.

I will watch with interest to find out if I was having a bad day or if it's gone.

With a constant stream of muggles I was unable to have proper look and ending leaving in frustration, obviously the wrong time of day to be trying for his one

Found this on a trip to Christchurch with JustLookingOO and LL113. Spent some time looking in the wrong place, but LL113 found it in the right place after a few minutes. There are a couple of hint objects, so the key is picking the right one. I had a few gaps at the time, but ran the geochecker again tonight and found out I qualify.

Team G0LD: Geocachers 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ are down from Whangarei for a few days. We've all solved the 4 big geoarts so they are the main target for the trip.

Of course there were many other puzzles solved as well. I do love a challenge so this was added to the list. Luckily this is not a cache for naming the companies with dubious principles as my fellow team G0LD member is on my list of finds. I'll have to find my list again and check it as I wrote it out many years ago and I think there are a few mistakes on it. I'll change this note to a find if I qualify.

Well, this has taken us some years! One of the earliest challenges we started, but a lack of puzzler COs in the Christchurch area with names beginning with E, V, Y or Z meant that whenever we visited somewhere further afar we would check the area for appropriate puzzles. Had the misfortune that Yeetree's [Founding Fathers](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC1GB87) field puzzle turned out to have a different GZ to the solved coordinates, only in the geochecker. So we missed Y on a trip to Wellington in 2021. This year we finally got to visit our son in Canberra again, and picked up an "E" and a "Z", that with 2 wildcards for V and Y meant we finally qualify, as per list attached.

A quick find today: it was under the first hint item we put our hands on. Got some delicious treats at the bakery afterwards. Thanks for all the fun puzzles you have sent us after, la Vista! TFTC.

On a road trip with LL113 and JustLookingOO, and I wanted us to find this cache while in Christchurch, even though I don’t yet qualify. We had a good hunt, and LL113 came up with the goods, and we all signed the log. I’m adding this note and will log a find once I qualify.

As we arrived I felt that we have been here before. There was a very good hint but we were unable to find the cache anywhere even with all three of us looking. That was very frustrating as I qualify for the challenge and I really have enjoyed researching to see if we qualified. I will watch this geocache and if it is found we will come again.

What a mission - certainly has caused me to work out and find more puzzle caches than I ever wanted to do!! It's been a great challenge though and I have enjoyed it. I do love a good challenge and this one has kept me going for a while..taken nearly 8 years to complete..and I've been stuck on 1 letter to go for nearly 2 years..until yesterday...didnt have many options for the last one and with a failed attempt in August thwarted by another lock down of course this Christmas break was my chance to get it...but I didnt make it easy for myself...I spent 8 days tramping the TA over the Richmond ranges and a day up the traverse valley, finishing off with a power walk up a nearby hill to get the final...
So happy to finally knock this off as it also fills in a gap in the d/t grid (for a second time)..the final cache was straight forward on my way home..thanks for the continual challenge...time to a find a new one .gets a fav and the photo is close to gz of my final qualifying cache

We signed the log today because I was sure that we had attained the requirements but it now seems we have Q, X, Y and Z missing. Hopefully, soon we will be able to find cachers with these names.

Found and signed with Joolay and Kittykatch but will have tocheck.

Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.

With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...

There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!

1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...

Tired, tired, tired! Four days of early morning and late night caching can knock the stuffing out of you... We decided to take it easy today and focus on some city caches - And maybe finish with some Adventure Labs for good measure. It's Sunday - a day of rest. We actually checked out the premises the other day. The lack of parking was cause to move on. All quiet today. No problem with this hide - Found exactly as hinted. Thanks La Vista. TFTP and TFTC.

Day 17, the penultimate day of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
(My apologies for the delayed logging but I'm still in catch-up mode)

Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.

So now I was back in Chch again, with a couple of hours of light left in the day to try to find a few selected caches such as this one. I was here only a week ago and had failed to find the cache. But after chatting with a couple of previous finders I knew I had been in the right place. I was going to replace the cache (by arrangement with the CO) but as I went to do that I actually found the original exactly where it was supposed to be. How did I not find that last week???

I was just happy to breath a sigh of relief to be able to claim the cache as found.

This cache was found en route to the airport and where we had a lovely late morning tea at the Copenhagen cafe nearby.
I have been in Christchurch for a week visiting a friend , going on the trans alpine train to Moana and stay then back to Chch for a few more days and we were able to visit quite a few caches which I had solved , spending a day walking around the central business are of Christchurch and then quite a few of the caches required for leap day at the local quarry where I was staying, early this morning before heading to the plane to be back in P N for an event at 3.30 ..

Finally our trip to New Zealand is real! We started with half a day in Singapore and then we continued to New Zealand before finalizing the trip with 2 days in Sydney.

We have been able to see a lot, fantastic nature, many different and new birds and also a "few" geocaches.

Have had this on my radar for a while, stopped a few months ago and found a guy just sitting on his motorbike about a meter from GZ just looking at the spot. I say in the car watching from a safe distance for a bit incase he was a cacher waiting for a gap in traffic but no he just sat there so I gave up. No problem today though.

Today’s main aim was to go for a walk to Godley head from Taylor’s Mistake.
This was with my sister and my brother in law, their dog and my geomutt (for the day anyway) Jed, who I have been entrusted to look after while staying here.
A good walk, and it was quite warm and surprisingly busy on the trail. But before and after I got to get a few other goals out of the way, including quite a few of the TMGT caches out Lyttelton way.
So a good day, quality over quantity, and the dog gets to sleep well tonight. Everyone wins. TFTC to all COs.

I did not really realise that we would be logging our 6000th cache but here it is and what better cache to log for our 6000th. A cache that pays tribute to some of the amazing cache owners who have taken time and put in effort to create fun, frustrating, educational puzzles for us to work out the coordinates to. I do particularly enjoy challenge caches, I enjoy the strategizing and planning that goes into achieving them, this one included. This one was completed during our summer holiday when we had identified some must find caches. Had I been more onto it I would have sorted the other two letters when we went to the Mega in Upper Hutt last year, but as we can have two wild cards that is what I have chosen to do. This definitely gets a favourite from us. Thanks for the challenge and thank you for the challenge.

At last! 3rd visit and how could I have missed it! Going stir crazy from having a virus, just needed something to do apart from read. this was the solution. TFTC, completed on my recent travels, and as many have said, thank goodness for the wild cards.

Finally I can log this one. Over in NZ with Kittykatch and Smittengranny and thought this was an interesting cache on the way to the airport heading back to Canberra. Well it was a little more problematic finding it but eventually success. We had an awesome time in NZ and loved every part of it. But now to log this one after having difficulties finding some of the letters. Lucky there was two wild cards

Finally made qualification for this cache by picking up two caches in Sydney today after attending the OzGeomuster Mega. A very cool challenge cache that I feel pretty good about qualifying for. Many thanks for the challenge and for the hide that I picked up while in Christchurch in February 2019. Logged today as I qualified today with my final two finds. Qualified this morning after picking up a puzzle cache by quinella (it took me a while to realise why it was on my targeted caches list). I'll post my qualifying finds and wildcards when I get back home later this week. My two wildcards are U (substituted by TheWanglers because 'double-u') and V (substituted by the CO, La Vista), both found on this trip to Christchurch.

I failed at finding this the day I logged my note as it was quite busy (I had a bit of a disappointing run that afternoon). I followed up with an early morning find and I thought I'd be able to do it in peace, but as soon as I started looking a muggle pulled up and parked on the other side of the hedge to go inside to prepare to open. I wasn't going to leave it again so after a bit more hunting I eventually found the cache and signed the log. All good here. TFTC+FP
