Terrain issues here. Need to be 6ft tall to retrieve and replace, also the cross is an issue. Not comfortable.
Some time after this cache was placed a memorial stone has been placed under the tree holding the container. This has made it more difficult for some people to reach and replace the cache so it is time to archive it.
Lovely find some if thes3 graves would have been beautiful in the day. Hint: up high
In Westport for 2 weekends in a row and still
had bad weather. Found a break in the rain and
went for this cache.
Found it then got on the bike and
the rain pored down AGAIN lucky enough
there was a bus shelter down the road i manged
to duck in to.

The weather had improved to the extent of not even spitting so we stopped here for what proved to be the first of three caches in theme. This was the most challenging. Mrs Sobad solo couldn’t have signed the log although she knew where the cache was. Luckily both team members were at the site and SoBad could get her the log to sign. Mrs SoBad is also surprised that the CO put it there!!
Thanks.
Thanks.
I looked at where the gps was pointing, "surely not", I think she must have had some help with placement, I had to go back to the car to get something to help me, waiting for a gap in the traffic as I didn't want to look silly carrying said item into a cemetary. Sad to see the cemetary in such a state of disrepair. Favourite for the entertainment caused when retrieving the cache

I was fortunate enough to be able to squeeze an 11 day holiday out of two leave days!! I headed out west to find some caches, see some sights, and relax before the madness of the semester hits. The weather was unbelievably good, only a bit of a storm over Arthur's Pass on the first day, otherwise hot and sunny. I found a great variety of caches, drive by's, walks, hikes, even a power trail. Thank you to all the CO's for their great hides!!!
Caught a whitebaiter couple packing up just as we were getting close to GZ. We waited a few minutes until they were gone to make the grab. They've got a nice little spot for their whitebaiting. A little trail down to the river and a dock. TFTC.
I love wandering round cemeteries old and new and this was no exception. It was a stunning evening to be here. Found the cache when I accidentally kicked it in the long grass. Pretty sure that's not where it is supposed to be by the previous logs so I placed it accordingly. However now I'm home and read the description can't guarantee I've placed it upright as per instructions - sorry. TFTC #6624
Streetwalker climbed over the fence, but I walked down the roadside to the gate and we arrived at GZ at about the same time. I was a bit disadvantaged finding this cache, but it didn't take him long to spot it.
Cemetery does look a bit neglected, the grass was long when we visited. TFTC.

#7567. This was the first of a three caches in a large collection of cemetries. A quick find once we found our way to GZ. TFTC.
Found in the dark and rain with a little help from a friend. TFTC.

Visiting family in Westport. Great to come back and see the area again. GPS was a bit off with this one. But it was in the logical place. TFTC

For the second time in less than a month this cache has been given a DOUBLE BAGGED log book. Please ensure it is replaced with BOTH bags securely sealed and when rehiding the cache please make sure it is upright. Thank you.
It was a pleasant change to see the long grass has finally been cut.

What a shame one of the three cemeteries is so well looked after and the other two are seemingly neglected. TFTC
I looked and looked and looked for this one. I even considered I might have to admit a dnf. Finally, suddenly, there it was!!!! Just as well I found it and logged it as I would have been SO upset when I looked at my photos later and there it was sneering at me. That's the first time that's happened to me.
Thanks for bringing me here. These places always tell so much history. Many of the memorials are (or were) so grand.

The first entry in the new logbook. A very nice haunted place to hide a cache.
A quick grab although some of the headstones make for fairly interesting reading. TFTC.
New double bagged logbook in place. Many thanks to YuGeo4 for adding a log sheet in the interim.
12991… Thanks for showing us the Old Orowaiti Cemetery, have added a new log sheet.
A quick find on the way to Karamea today. No problems retrieving the cache. Signed log, TFTC
Interesting to see the change in cemeteries, walking from historic to old to still in use. All quick finds, TFTC
Another quick easy find and fortunately a pencil in the container to sign log. I will confess to borrowing the pencil for an hour or so as I wandered the cemetery trying to find reliatives graves and recording their details. Replaced back in container when finished and didn't see anyone else trying to log in the wet. Thanks for the hide (and letting me borrow the pencil)!
We came to Westport in search of history and thought what better way to start than with ones own history so we came in search of Mrs Guzzi's great-grandmothers grave and Mary Carr we found who started life as Mary O'Reily and married John Carr on the boat on the way over here. This was much to his family disgust as they were not happy he marry a catholic. She died in 1898 and is buried with three of her sons. One of her sons was a town Councillor back in the early days. We retrieved the cache only because Mr Guzzi is 6' whereas with the Irish background Mrs Guzzi is only 5'. Need to think of how to keep the head stone in better shape.
I could not have found this on my own as I am too short! You need at least 2 or a tall person to retrieve! TFTC. Interesting over grown area.
Looked around for about 15 mins with two people, but no such luck. Started raining and thunder, so we left before we found it.
Wow - this is an old boneyard. I'm pretty sure I've go relatives in this one, and in the other old one near by. TFTC
Gosh the difference in age of this resting place compared to the other two is very noticeable. Maintenance also seems to be low on the priority list here. Nice hiding spit for the cache. Thanks holymu for placing this cache.

Our second Westport cemetery for the day, although a pretty unkempt one. The cache had us puzzled initially, but didn’t take too long to work out. TFTC
A quick find in this old historic cemetery. Saddly the location seems a little neglected. TFTC
Our second of the three Westport cemeteries today. We found the cache no probs then a handy tool to extract it from its hiding place. 9/41 caches found today. Thanks for the cache
Quite a cool hide. Too bad if you are a short solo cacher lol. Shame the grave yard has gone to ruin though, tftc
An early morning trip to the cache in glorious sunshine. The West coast is great on a good day. TFTC .
The first find is dated 3 days ago. There are some who would not be impressed with that.
Lovely spot to come too thanks holymu
