After hiking to Mt Sugarloaf on the way back down we took the detour off to go and check out the old mine as well. A beautiful, and flatter, walk along to gz. It took me a little while here and I wasn't really sure of the hint but then I spotted the unusual hide just by chance and happily squeezed my name into the log. A very interesting cache container and not one I expected to find in the bush, thanks for the cache.
*Found on the 2 Oct 2022 @ 10:26 am.*
*Cache find # 13365.*
A little while back, the hamfish asked me if I had been to Mt. Sugarloaf and my reply was, No I have not, he suggested that I should have a look, so today I took that advice and went for a little wander.
After reaching Mt. Sugarloaf, I headed back down and around towards the mine stopping off at this one along the way.
At first I was wondering what this one could be but lucky for me, it didn't take long to find,
the interesting and different log was signed and I was on my way.
**Thanks to 6Hinemoa2 for placing this cache.**

Chook travelled from Beaufort to Riddells Creek to spend a couple of days with her good friend Wendy. After walking Conglomerate Gully yesterday afternoon, the Antimony Mine was our target for today. We stood back and pictured the skull - looks even better in a photo. Then we poked around for a while, nearly about to give up, before Wendy interpreted the hint a little better, and spotted a place for Chook to search, and bingo we came up trumps. Nice unexpected hide. TFTC 6Hinemoa2.
the day was full of rain
rain clouds followed us, watered us, nurtured us
now we don’t claim to be a quasi supernormal incremental precipitation inducer like rob mckenna
but, like rob, we are now so accustomed and well-acquainted with rain that we have begun a little book of types of rain
type 11: breezy droplets
type 17: dirty blatter
type 39: heavy spotting
type 47: vertical light drizzle
type 51: sharply slanting light to moderate drizzle freshening
types 87 and 88: two finely distinguished varieties of vertical torrential downpour
type 100: post-downpour squalling, cold
type 123: mild cold gusting
type 124: intermediate cold gusting
type 232: bucketing down
but what we wouldn’t give for a little bit of sunshine

A great location this cache, love this walk with so much to see. Great cache and hide. A fav point from us today tftc
LeeLee was in the area for a walk. and decided to do a check on this cache. All good here.
Went on a big walk with Bogonghazy and Geo Dog Bree. This was a great find. Thanks for placing this one
Restrictions are relaxed. Don't forget yo use your sanitizer to keep everyone safe.
This geocache is currently disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis in compliance with current restrictions on non-essential travel.
For the welfare of all I feel there is no choice in the matter as the virus is transmitted by surface contact and geocaching by nature, is a game that involves touching.

After speaking to the CO this morning from up on Mt Sugarloaf I thought it was only fitting I went down here on the way back to find this 6yo cache.
I have been along the drawbridge years ago pursuing another cache so I knew the terrain.
Very little water about too.
Love skull rock and after reading a few logs I knew not to be a goat...no need.
Cache in great order though the technology will be soon dated!
Thanks Karena..a fav pt for you!

We've recently started a house sit in relatively nearby Deer Park and since I'm currently working on my trail running skills, the Pyrites Creek George circuit seemed like the place to go for a long run. A few caches along the way was an added bonus. I was wrong! Of the 15km or so I did, I ended up walking more than I wanted mostly due to the rocky and wet sections along the creek bed with no formal track. Thank goodness I'd downloaded a GPX file or I might still be out there! A good hike if you like a bit of adventure, not so good for trying to run.
This cache however was a reasonably easy find once I'd read the hint and thought about it. My pen didn't work very well on this clever format but I managed to make a bit of a mark.
Thanks for enticing me out to this location. Despite my personally not enjoying the creek section of the circuit, the path to this cache is clear and very enjoyable.

Nice spot, it was the cache size that eventually gave me the clue, no need for the scrambling I did looking in the obvious places! SL TFTC
TFTC - out with team Crack 'n' LeeLee for the day with the intention of finding all caches within this area, finishing at HSB1905 before returning to the car park.
This was a very clever hide!
This was a very clever hide!
The ultimate goal today was to pick up nearby geocache HSB1905 with 2beez.
We have done a few in this area but have not ventured this far. This was a pleasant surprise.
We really enjoyed the walk to here and what a great spot for a geo.
The girls got a bit excited and went 'it's up there!' and off they went. Mmm after some searching we decided lets look at what the notes say. Crackers read it out and LeeLee was onto it. Wow that was cool. Right in front of us.
Thanks Kareena. Not only a cool spot but a cool cache and hide. Haven't seen that before
A FP from us.
Cache in good condition, only a few spots left to sign.

Spent about 15mins lookin for this one. Climbed all over the Face. Looked on both sides of the track then I stood back, Looked at the Rock FACE. And thought about the Hint. Then I went straight to the cache. If I Had paid attention to the cache size Given in the notes it would have helped as well. A great spooky rock feature, And excellent cache and hide in an amazing bush area. A Favourite point given. Thanks **6Hinemoa2**. TFTC.

Magertom and I were in Pyrete Ranges and after finding the nearby Cathedral cache, we headed towards this interesting rock feature. The bridge we encountered was a terrifying example of cost effective and innovative engineering! Whilst my companion raced across, I timidly tiptoed across all the while wondering what on earth inspired such an unstable bridge. Despite my fears the bridge held and we headed to this rock formation. We searched a few areas before Magertom discovered this very cool logbook. Though more than 3/4 full, it will probably last a few years yet considering the frequency of finds. TFTC 6Hinemoa2
Apologises for the delayed log, I found this cache while out on an adventure with 450Dan.
I was introducing 450Dan to the pleasure of a cache that requires a decent walk (and how to use a GPSr instead of a smart phone), so on this fine way we loaded up my littlest geocacher into his "adventure back pack" and went for a walk. This was the 3rd of 4 stops today and I got 3 happy faces while 450 got 4.
Our first obstacle on this cache was the "bridge" and I will use that term in the loosest possible way, so after a tentative crossing we approached GZ. This one took some looking and saw us scuttling up some land only a mountain goat could manage. Imagine the look on our faces when we found it. The look from the little one enjoying his Vegemite sandwich said it all.
Log "book" signed, baby on my back and were were off to the next stop.

I was scrummaging up and down the rocks at the start thinking to myself "how the heck does this look like a face".
Once i took a few steps back and i saw the face. Such a perfect skull. With this and the hint the cache was in hand.
Very cool container! I havnt seen one like this! Awesome idea

After meeting up with McLookers and The Tritonz at the Lerderderg State Park, we hiked into some of the more remote parts of the Pyrete Range.
Having done some hiking here before I knew we were in for rollercoaster hills, but the day's cooler weather and good company made the going a little easier.
This is indeed an interesting rock formation that does look like a face (and an appropriate hint too ).
Thanks, 6Hinemoa2, and a FP for the original logbook as well.

What an adventure to get here, the bridge crossing sure was very unique, a style we had never seen before and defiantly tested the nerves.
The old Mini was very interesting, would love to know the story behind it.
The name for this one is very fitting, after reading the hint the cleverly hidden cache was found.
Thanks 6Hinemoa2 for the cache and adventure.
While in the company of the McLookers and ThePacman we set off on a early morning hike to have a shot at some of the caches in the area.
This was a part of the world we had never seen before today and had never even heard of.
There is so much history around this area and were very glad we had some caches to highlight the relics around here.

A great rock formation, ThePacman identified our search area quickly and The Tritonz spied the tucked away cache shortly after. Thanks 6Hinemoa2, we loved the walk, the 'bridge' crossing and the cache.
With ThePacman and The Tritonz we made an early start. The walking conditions were perfect, this my first visit to the area. While there was a bit of water around, luckily there was not too much but we certainly got a work out and I am sure my calves will be enjoying a radox bath tonight!

Today seemed like a nice day for a walk in the park.
We planned to pick up the 5 caches on the Antimony track that had been bugging us for a while.
Mission achieved in 4 hrs including a stop for lunch at the mine site.

On approach to this cache I was presented with a unique piece of architecture. Do I use it, or don't I ?? Doesn't look very safe, especially with a few sections containing some "patch up jobs"... Ahh why not, at least if it fails I won't be getting wet. Started to cross and there is quite a bit of movement... had to resist the urge to use the walking pole to steady myself. Wouldn't have been much use here !! Made it over in one piece and continued on to the cache.
Had a good scrounge around with no luck. Resorted to the clue, armed with this I set out in a different frame of mind. Well what do you know, what have we here. Very, very sneaky. I can't say in the nearly 1200 caches I have found, I have ever seen this type of hide before. Well done. A fave point is coming your way for showing me something out of the ordinary. TFTC 6Hinemoa2.

An afternoon in the Pyrite State forest collecting a few of the southern caches. Flooding rains north of here so everything was fresh and cool - and only slightly damp. No wildlife today other than butterflies and birds. Too cold for snakes (hopefully)...
I think I've only seen this container once before. Perfect and novel for this location. Loved the drawbridge I needed to cross to get here...
Thanks and cheers!

Nice hide. I had not seen this type of container before. Hard to write on the log though with a normal ball-point pen. My friends from the Catholic Walking Club were very impressed!
Out today with Jacko83 & Bentley Parker(dog) to take in the fresh air and the local tracks.
This one had use climbing around the cave until Jacko's keen eye spotted this one. Interesting cache.
Thanks for the Cache 6Hinemoa2

Eyed this area off during the week and made plans to come do the hike and pick up some much needed unloved. Spent the day in the Ranges with Achey and the pooch Bentley Parker- I'm sure to say we are all feeling pretty knackered! Great to see smilies here and to experience a great day in the bush.
This fellow really took some time, was crawling around in all kinds of caves! Eventually spotted - maybe from luck lol. Great spot, thanks for bringing me here.

Badly in need of a higher fitness level, I decided to do these two caches in the Pyrite Ranges today.
Picked up Tess, who is always excited about a bushwalk, and off we headed.
I've done this walk a few times now, and always appreciate how pretty this area really is, and not a soul around to share it with. Tess even took on the 'Bridge of Faith' despite it being a huge challenge for her.
I got really lucky at GZ and spotted this as I approached the little recess. Was delighted to see half a dozen butterflies greet me as they left the refuge too.
Thanks again Karena for another quality cache in such a beautiful location.
Adding to the faves of course, cheers Phil

TFTC had to scratch HW into the log as didn't have a pen handy. Had previously done all of the caches here but luckily I checked after a hike with young Waffle to Marco Gorge and picked this one up on the way back nice walk today with the wild flower season gaining momentum.
Found it! After visiting the mine and gorge with the Walkabouters, I found this cache. Very clever use of an everyday item the hiding place. Unfortunately I didn't have a pen so have taken a photo of the log if proof be needed. The hint is useful from a certain perspective. TFTC. It's in good condition!
We were doing a bushwalk and I was very pleased that there were some caches along the way. The weather was quite pleasant for a late winter day, and the walk was brilliant. Thanks for the distraction along the way! Good excuse to stop.
I could kind of make out the face in the cliff, I enjoyed some of the awful puns thrown into the description Took me a few minutes to find the cache as I wasn't expecting it to be in this format.
I remember passing this spot a couple of years ago - I have a rather blurry picture taken by the old nokia phone somewhere... Clever hide, well chosen container! Thanks.
Mudbrick got him. A nice little walk in on a nice day. I think he looks more like an ape. Thank you 6hinemoa2 for a great cache.
Arrgh me lovelys, I ullaways enjoys a good treasure hunt, and today wasn't no dissapointment for me or me scurvy bellied woman.. A wee little bit o rain overnight had left the area with a refreshing scent of the bush, and made for a perfect cool day to tackle the 13k lap.
Headed off at approx 11 am, and found the going pretty easy to gz. Thankfully with a good description and hint, the cache was reasonably quickly found. It was an overcast day so GPS accuracy may have been lacking, had me about 10m from actual cache location.
So after signing the unique log, and another cheerfully made ftf, we continued on around the creek. Was surprised at times to see some water still in spots, even a trickle here it there.
Spotted the first snake while caching this season, thankfully the tail end of a large black, which is incidentally my favorite end of a snake.
Once we had almost finished the circuit, where you meet the fenceline, we were fortunate enough to even spot a deer!! I never expected to see one in these parts, so a very exciting discovery.
After 4hrs of what is quite a good walk we found ourselves back at the car, tired, stinky, and a little bit schweaty. Happy to have made the full circuit without incident.
Even snuck in a new cache, and some ideas germinating for perhaps a new series. Expect an email shortly!!
Thanks 6hinemoa2 for the much needed impetus to come back here and discover more of our beautiful backyard.
Cheers gordo & bron
