After an extensive search found this one about 7 metres from GZ. Ive decided to archive this one and reuse container in a better location.
Had a fairly good idea of what we should be looking for and hoped to break the cycle of DNFs.
After much searching (and looking a bit strange in front of a fisherman) and just over an hour, we approached CO for some assistance.
Yep. We were in the right area and were on the right track with the container.
Unfortunately we were unable to wait any longer and had to call it quits.

Searched for the last 3 days, got totally drenched each and every time, was absolutely determined to find this one. Touched every item we could see but alas, this one has become our newest nemesis cache! We loved the search but would've loved to have been 100% certain that it was still in place. Gee it's a busy area. I don't reckon anyone would have thought we looked out of place enjoying it though!
Thought we would break the trend of 'didn't finds' for this one and spend literally ages looking for the cache with the rough sea sending up loads of spray over us - but unfortunately no luck today.
Checked on this one today and the cache IS still in place. Remember this is a difficulty 4 and not meant to be an easy find.

We couldn't find the cache - 3 of us looked for about 20mins but no sign of it. Judging by previous logs, this cache appears to be missing.
I checked exactly where it should be and there is no sign of it.
There is water everywhere up high, so it may have washed away a while ago.

we had a great time walking the wall and even spotted some Dolphins playing in the waves on lighthouse beach. unfortunately I think that the cache has been taken, we found the obvious spot but no cache in sight
With night falling and my GPSr either being too far off the mark or the terrain rating not being remotely reflective of GZ, we spent only a few minutes on the very slippery rocks before deciding to play it safe. Thanks anyway, WaldenClan. =^.^=
Started searching through the rocks but they were rather slippery. Decided to give this a miss. Sorry.
Found with Gourmetgazelle after a short lookaround for likely suspects. Normally this type of cache is very difficult but the light must have been perfect today.

Wow. How easy was that? Gourmet approached River Walk with trepidation and with dread of the nightmares that those many rocks have caused in the past. She brought the geokids and Shockers, hoping that fresh eyes might help our sad cause. And...it was the very first thing Gourmet put her hand on! Let's forget that this must have been our 6th visit! Took some proud photos to send to Gazelle in Denmark. We're now 499! Where will 500 be?
On a visit to Ballina today and happy to add a smiie to this tricky cache. Spent over half an hour trying to find this one a few months ago. Defineatly worthy of its 4 star difficulty rating. Tftc Top cache indeed
This would have been my 4-5th time looking for this cache, previously storms and dark nights didn't help but today I had MrsFlag to spur me on. An item had been placed over he cache making it not visible from the access path, so a bit of time was needed, even so I eventually spotted the slippery sucker and was ecstatic to have log in hand.
Thanks for the fun!
Thanks for the fun!
Looks like there has been some heavy seas over this site. Might need to be checked.
Weather may have taken it the area was severely affected yesterday! Hopefully someone can find it before our second attempt
We weren't sure if it was possible to get this one today as the swell is fairly large. The waves were crashing up against the rocks making it difficult to search. So in between crashes we searched, found and signed the log without even getting wet.
Thanks WaldenClan for the splash.

cache find #3010. Teaching our almost 8 year old grandson how to geocache. Today was his first day of becoming a geocaher. He took to it like a duck to water. He had control of the gps, so he led the way. we chatted to him about how to look for something out of the ordinary, and he soon came up with the cache. The look of excitement on his face was so precious. When we got back to the geotug, he was already talking about how he would make caches and hide them in good hiding places for people to come and find. TFTC.
The mega is over and its time to go home so doing a few caches on the way, thanks to all the CO's who helped make this event possible
2nd attempt and so damn sneaky it was hardest one I've done yet. For those having problems you really have to get hands on to find this one!
so glad to go back and find this one, our first attempt was during the cyclonic weather a couple of weeks ago, we had no hope as we could not even get near the path let alone the cache. Today our GPS took us direct to it and wow a nice easy find but I fear the last hider may not have put it back properly considering the difficulty rating. TFTC Find 1660
4th attempt and found. Previous attempts we didn't have a lot of experience. Great hide.
Finally! Third (or fourth) time lucky. This one was tricky! A bit needle-in-a-haystack-ish, but once you see it, it seems to stick out like a sore thumb. Good way to wrap up our weekend - we feel like we've accomplished something. Thank you!
I had to go to Ballina to pick up a part to fix up my lounge chair. This cache has a D/T rating that I haven't got yet so I decided to stop off. It was an easy enough find. I don't know how you are going to get your wheel chair in there though.

10th stop on the girls geocaching day trip around Alstonville and Ballina with hildz. We found 9 out of 12 today and had a great time.
After lots of looking and thinking, we thought about the terrain level and realised we were looking in the wrong spot. What a shame hildz had already got wet!! Once we let the GPS settle, we had the correct location and we just had to discover the brilliantly camouflaged location. TLNLSL - TFTC WaldenClan

the waves were breaking OVER this one! In between we dashed in and found it quite quickly, thankfully, as I hate those ones with endless nookies to search. Great coordinates, thanks
After about 4 DNF attempts on this I found it really easily today. Had looked really close to the location and probably even at the spot. But now it is found and I am able to remove the blue sad face from this cache.
Found with some help. Got to admit I've looked here many a time when taking the dogs for a run on the Spit with no luck. Today after a chance meeting with the cache owner while on the bike and then having the location pointed out I "found" it. Thanks Peter, good to meet and thanks for the help.
Easy when you get the hang of it! Again s lovely spot and even though it is still holiday time managed a muggle free moment TFTC
After riding down in the evening from our motel I left empty handed but knew if I took my geowife down in the morning she would find it straight away.
Needless to say she did exactly that.
Very well hidden love your work, glad to have that smiley on my map.
Thank you

We are certainly considering ourselves pretty lucky at this GZ. We approached GZ slightly to the north at first, then checked GPS which indicated further south. While scanning likely spots geohubby alighted his eyes right on the cache and pointed it out to me. Wow, well done Bob! Cache found in good condition and we signed the log and naturally replaced. A nice spot! Great views! Happy skateboarders! Nice park! Thanks for bringing us here WaldenClan [^][^]
Found it on our fourth go. Good hide. No need to walk over too many rocks. Thankyou!
Found but my GPS had me 4Mts over the rocks which wouldn't make it wheelchair friendly.
So now I understand the ratings.

Seaeagles1997 was rather keen for the D/T on this one. Oddly enough, the only other cache with this D/T that I have done was in a place called Benalla! In all honestly This is more like a 3/1.5. Found the cache instantly as this is the obvious thing for here. TFTC!!
Travelled 550km up the coast just to find this cache... Just kidding but I did desperately need this combo for my d/t grid. Thankfully we found this quite quick as it could be tricky.
I hate rocks!
Nice day and great spot.
No need to flip over all the big rocks like I started off doing. Nice job, get the brain thinking.

Booked in at local caravan park for the week end. On arrival discovered the local prawn festival was on a short walk from our park. Enjoyed a great range of food and drinks on the Saturday but glad we didn't attempt this one on that day as it was muggle central. Collected on our Sunday morning walk. Lads deconstructing the Ferris wheel nearby paid is no attention and I couldn't blame them given the size of the job ahead and the heat of the day. Fortunately had some experience with this container so it was quickly spotted, unfortunately lost our em on the walk so couldn't sign the log but do have pic to prove the find, hoot this is ok . Lovely spot, TFTC
Parked nearby to go for a walk to retrieve this one. It then took a while to finally find where the cache was hidden. We were glad to be able to add our name to the log. TFTC
After studying the logs I had an idea of what I was looking for. I wasn't disappointed as I had it to hand within a few minutes. Lovely spot , hope that I am not here when the ocean rises. TFTC WaldenClan
Out doing a little cycling around Ballina and enjoying the River trails. With my luck so far this weekend and a 4 rating I was over the moon when I found this one in virtually the first place I looked. Letting the GPSA settle and thinking about what it is you might be seeking certainly helps with this one TFTC
And this is where my Great Road Trip of 2014 ended, well the caching part anyways. After 3 days and three nights, 41 caches and 1960 km From Brisbane to Newcastle and back. This cache was the last one on my list. Jelly the Wonderdog and myself pulled into the car park just after dark, and oh how dark it was. No moon tonight. The wind was blowing and the waves were a crashing.
We found GZ and then the hunt started. After looking in a few spots I finally found the beasty. WOOHOO!!! That was certainly a very trying cache to finish on. I signed the log and then replaced as it had been found. Rightio! Time for home
Thanks for the cache WaldenClan

Another dnf find for our ballina trip might be back before the end of our holiday
We had a good look for this one, but kept getting wet from the waves crashing on the rocks. Perhaps we will be back, as I would like to see how this one is hidden.
This cache nicely filled a missing square in our grid. Read through the description carefully and a few logs and roughly knew what I was looking for. Resulted in a quick find. Rocks were wet today after a brief shower. Signed and replaced in between walkers. Pleasant spot. Thanks for placing!
Hehe! I loved the thought of this hide, as I realised what I'd be up for even before I arrived at GZ. Diabolical!
I timed myself out of sheer morbid curiosity, but actually, I had a quick find indeed! 8 minutes. And this was at night-time too, by the light of my headlamp.
My advice is: don't get psyched out by the, uh, terrain. Some of the info given, and even the nature of the terrain itself, really does narrow your search down a lot.
Thanks WaldenClan for a wonderful hide

Over the past couple of weeks we have seen a few of these so had a good idea of what we were looking for - it helps. TFTC.
off to Balina with FastEd

found it this time
was in the right spot last visit
but rain restricted my searching

Well it seemed obvious where it should have been, but we looked without luck. Decided to widen our search, but the GPS kept bringing us back to our start point.
Finally as we about to give up, I spotted something. How did we miss that.
Log signed, cache replaced.

When we arrived at GZ we knew what we would be looking for and our hearts sank! We had a huge job in front of us. After reading some previous logs we moved our search area slightly. Searching and searching until Mr. Herbz spied something. Could it be? ...YES!! Hurrah! Nice one WaldenClan. TFTC.
I remember coming by this one on the day it was published and not having any luck at all. Today I walked straight up to it and couldn't believe that i had missed it. Thanks again WaldenClan!!
Finally found this one on my 4th attempt. (With an extra clue from Waldenclan, thanks.) Very tricky hide it should be obvious what your looking for and once you see it make sense. Worth the 4 star difficulty especially if you don't have a dead on GPS. TFTC.
No luck. This was the last for the day and the spray was splashing over us so called it a day.
I checked on this one today and all is well. Log is nice and dry.
There is no need to go on the actual wall on the big rocks to find this cache.

Heading down to Balina for the day with a muggle friend.
Along the way we shall be stopping to cache and op-shop.
rocks were to slippery in the drizzle to look safely

Knew what we had to look for when we saw the coordinates. Took us less than five minutes. Thanks
It was with trepidation that we started looking for this one. Four stars ooh. Funnily though, it was the first thing we touched. Can understand searching for hours on this one. Great hide!
This was our forth visit to River Walk. Them Walden's are a sneaky clan and hide some great caches at nice locations. I said to Lib we would have it in 10 seconds or not at all. In about 10 seconds she turned to Gib and said got it. Couldn't believe it was actually there all those times we were searching. TFTC Walden Clan
What a tricky spot! So many nooks crannies. Spent almost 45 minutes hunting around before admitting defeat. Will be back another day with fresh eyes. Good luck to all.
Geoson had fun climbing all over the rocks and I was just standing there and looks down and it was right next to my foot. Lucky day for me. TFTC
Phone flat so transfered coords to gps..now I'm out in the ocean. Muggles everywhere! Maybe on the way home!
Found on this marvellously windy day with the geo grandad! I surprised him how quickly I found it! Tftc
Didnt find it today. Will try later

I advise from another Cacher, I checked o. This one today and it has gone missing, Id say from wild surf. Ill replace by next weekend.
Even though the weather was wild I was bursting full of confidence and headed across the river to seek out another WaldenClan hide. Silly me, fancy underestimating them! The waves breaking over the rocks dampened the search. I'll be back!
Looked for about 45 minutes but like finding a needle in a haystack... Not to worry I will be back again another day. I think this fully deserves the 4 star difficulty.
On a day out in Ballina sans Gazelle, Gourmet & geokids thought it would be an impressive feat to nab river walk. After a play in a nearby park with some muggle friends, we slunk off to begin the search. Fifteen minutes found us nothing, so we adjourned for a lunch break and returned for a fresh assault. We found Renroc there busily turning over stones and joined forces. At least half an hour later, Baby Gazelle was fed up and so were we. Thanks Walden clan for an excuse to be out and about on such a glorious day. No thanks for the slight insanity that resulted from the challenge. Thanks Renroc for the moral support & TB swap. We will return for another look with Gazelle's fresh eyes.
