WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 83 - Geraldton Day 3. The rain seems to have passed, but it was a bit windy last night. This morning it was back to mostly sunny weather. I set out to do some more caches around the headland of the town peninsula, along with the final set of labs that area based on light houses. This took me well north of town, so I had the chance to do a few caches along the beach that way as well. I met a lady from the Historical society at a cache and paid a visit to her museum. Once home I did washing had lunch and am now doing logs. Tonight is cooking at home and tomorrow I start my drive to Denham in three parts to Eurady first for a night in a rest area. This little tree cave was a great spot to be searching for a cache, even if I managed step over it well before I actually saw it.Thanks for the cache Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder48576.1 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2018 May Blodeuwedd A#381**Albida**
TFTC bit of a crawl through a clearing in the trees, but we eventually managed to find it just watch out for those trip hazard roots
Hi there Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder. While out on the road today we found this cache at 0112pm after a short search - and the container and log are in good condition. TN, LN, SL. Thanks to Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder for this cache - our find 10837 and the 3rd of 4 finds for the day.FieldNotes: The cache and log were both found in good condition.

Suite de notre priple en Australie : de Monkey Mia Geraldton. On logue en team Mado. Merci pour la cache. Elle nous aura pris un peu de temps car on distingue mal le chemin.
this one had me tricked for a little bit. had to climb right in. coordinates are slightly off
We walked here from the lighthouse and had a good look around but no smiley for us here today. TFTC
Another day of geocaching in Geraldton. There were no different hiding places to find. Thanks to hints or spoiler pictures, most of them were very easy to find.
Thanks for the caches.
Thanks for the caches.
Out and about exploring Geraldton this afternoon. Cache was easily found in the little grove, but had been thrown down with lid not attached. Have placed it securely back into the shrubs. Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment.
Beautiful wintery day to go geocaching with a little friend. Sharing the love of geocaching tftc
Circled around a bit, no obvious track, poked head into bushes, looked around & found. Container still moist. TFTC
After looking around we found the little mite sticking out.
Thanks for bringing us here. AnsMisty

I parked near the lighthouse and walked to this one. A quick find. Cache and log are okay. TFTC Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder.
This is my 1741 find.
Thank you Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder for placing and maintaining this cache.
Geology rocks but Geography is where it’s at!
(I’m not a geologist I just like puns)
Walked past the lighthouse for a lab cache on the way here.
Once we were at GZ was glad to have the kids with us as they ventured into the grove and found the cache.

Day two of a northern adventure with Mr’s Z, T & B and SirFancy.
Today was a day off two halves all around Geraldton.
The morning was spent walking around Point Moore and West End before retreating to the accommodation for lunch and a swim.
The afternoon was our numbers run for the day completing the series along Alexander Drive, grabbing a couple of mysteries and having a run around at the foreshore.
Today I finished with 25 finds, 7 adventure labs and 2 DNF’s.

Thanks Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder for placing Out & About - Erosion for me and others to find.
I added my name to the log at 09:13 on 10/4/2022.
This is find number 4350 for me.

Caching in the Greater Geraldton area today. Our intention for the day was to attack some power trails and do map cleanup around town.
Thankfully a relatively quick search, dodging the dead fish. Cheers Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder!

Day 3 of the road trip with the boys C10,B12,L1.77 - lots of laughs and perhaps a little therapy will be needed after this trip. But one thing is for sure - I am determined to get a few more yellows on the map on my final full day here in Gero. Many thanks to the COs for the mix of caches. Sorry for the genetic log
Tried again after 3 years but still no joy. Started our 2nd tour of WA now touring around the south slowly heading north on our way home to Cairns. Did your Out & About - Erosion today. 26 February 2022 2:56 pm Tyfc Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder total caches now 4329 .
Out and about with Mr CONVERTING greens to yellow .. weather is beautiful ️ TFTC all in good nic
If the TB "Milo Drink" is in this Cache. Can the next person please try to get it back to Perth and drop it somewhere there. I will pick it up from where it is dropped. Thanks.
Searched high and low but nothing to see. Didn't want to trample the flora too much
Up from Perth for a wet but enjoyable camping trip this weekend Staying at the nearby Belair park so headed out for a walk this morning before the rain got too heavy. Was in my stride so ended up doing a long loop all the way around Point Moore and visiting a few extra caches along the way. Leaving the footpath soon found me at GZ, then realised I needed to get ‘in’ rather than rummage around the periphery. Found an entry point and then quickly spotted the cache. Good size too so left a Milo TB No problems here, TFTC
Found it. TFTC team Pathfinder. Got to GZ but was not successful had to extend my search. I think I left some DNA there.
Out early searching for caches before leaving for Shark Bay in a couple of hours. Quick find TFTH
Find 24 of 29 with fourteen DNFs on a day-long 30km bike ride around Geraldton with not a cloud in the sky. Many more DNFs than we would usually register, this is a tricky town! Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches.
Like richlink, co-ords were a bit out for us. Once we spread out a bit we made the find.

It’s certainly blowing a gale today - sand is flying horizontally. Extended search to wheee our gps indicated 7 mts. Thanks TeamPathfinder
Day 2 in Geraldton and we spent most of the day doing walk trails with a few quick ones thrown in and the lab cache. Found a few fun caches and managed to rectify some more DNFS from previous visits. Only 1 DNF today and that’s only 2 DNFs in 2 days which is amazing for caching in Geraldton. Thanks to all the CO,S for placing these caches.
Up in Geraldton for IGD so we took the opportunity to collect a few more smilies, happy to say we came up trumps here and walked away with a smilie TFTC
Early this morning, I did a nice walk on the bike path and trying to do some geocaching, but it ws not a good day for caching...many DNF, many cache on non accessible area becaus it's close and few other cache seem missing...
I wasn't optimistic about this one for all the DNFs, but glad I did try it. FWIW my GZ was 7m out but the location did match the hint. T4TC, M@
Mr Beetle waited on the track with the bikes while I attempted this one. I could hear him talking to a muggle so tried to be quiet in my search. Lots of ants were crawling all over my legs and I had to break the odd spider's web but I wasn't there long when Mr Beetle called for me to leave. This very peculiar muggle was approaching who was raising his shirt and flashing his chest at any passing car. Mr Beetle deemed it was prudent to leave before this strange soul got too close.
took a shot at getting the smiley for this cache while doing a cache run with new friends Cravo10 & Barnzy12 after the GC791W8 - International Geocaching Day 2017 Event in Geraldton W.A.
Out on IGD in Geraldton for the 3rd year in a row with Barnzy12.
We started the morning a little late compared to a usual geocaching weekend however we did only get into town at midnight so a 8.30 start was early enough!!
The morning started with a extremely poor Find rate at around 40% found. We then headed to the Event and enjoyed a pub lunch and a pint of beer and that would see the luck turn there after.
After the event we headed off with Team Ruphace Matthew and Cathy finding around 20 caches with them.
The highlight was following the lead of reticbob and getting the caches in Moresby Range, going through private land that offered sensational views.
Overall a great day out in Gero, looking forward to seeing some of you again soon at WA Goes Big in Rockingham on the 9th September

Found on our first full day of our caching trip to Geraldton for the annual International Geocaching Day Event.
We arrived late Friday night, getting in just before midnight due to one of us finishing work about an hour later than planned! Stopping for a couple of simple Park and grabs along the way to keep our caching streak alive and enjoyed a quick feed for a late dinner in Jurien Bay.
We started the day with a bit of a later start after a small caching foray to find the new letterbox hybrid cache in town so we got up around 830 to start the caching day.
We curled up locally and headed around the suburb of Tarcoola, and had a large number of DNFs there, sitting around 40% find rate through the area, which was quite frustrating. We cached around the area attempting every cache on the Tarcoola Map before heading out to Bluff Point for the IGD event at the wintersun hotel, which we knew quite well having stayed there on our last trip whilst heading to the northwest.
We had a great pub lunch and enjoyed a cold beer whilst chatting to local cachers squash2 and reticbob regaling stories of some of the infamous caches around town that they either own of have had the pleasure of finding. Reticbob told us of his and others caches on the Moresby Range, which had only just been re enabled after the property changed hands.
We had to make tracks after the event to get the find rate up so teamed up with Team Ruphace who are from Melbourne but are staying in dongara and cached out bluff point with a significant amount of success before thinking we weren't that far from the Moresby Range so made the call to the land manager (this is a must - please respect this great spot so others can continue to enjoy it) and got the all OK to head to the northern side of the property, with the south off limits.
This would be my favourite part of our caching day, the Moresby Range is simply amazing, a MUST do if you come to Geraldton. Views forever. I won't say too much, you can get here and see it for yourself. Just please ring ahead (read the cache listings)
After the Moresby Range caches we headed back towards the centre of Geraldton where we kept finding cache after cache except for a few which need some serious CO attention. We managed to tick off a few nemesis caches including bluff point lighthouse, out and about erosion, tanked at the RSL and a few others, which was most satisfying.
We bid farewell to our companions after finding twenty odd caches together, which was most enjoyable and made finding it a bit easier with four sets of eyes at most caches.
We had a nice noodle dinner and got prepared to find a few more caches by torchlight around central Geraldton. The highlight of the evenings caching was another trip to the HMAS sydney memorial which is my favourite spot to visit in Geraldton. We followed the map around collecting the answers some of which I knew off the top of my head given my love of history and "the Sydney" we collected the puzzle cache for Cravo10 who somehow hadn't found it.
Overall a big day attempting around 60 caches with 40 finds, in around 12hours. Looking forward to finding some caches along the Chapman river tomorow on our final day of our short Geraldton getaway. Thanks to the local COs for their caches.
Cleaned up a nemesis cache which we've had several DNFs at before

A nice quick find here seeing as the cache had no camo cover but was still well hidden from anybody who wasn't looking for it. This is a rare find for me at least an actual Tupperware container hidden in the bush. TFTC.
Since son is home on his work break to house/dog sit and we got the rare go ahead to go away so it looks like another mini geo road trip it is
Let Home at 5.15am this morning which wasn't too bad tho didn't think muggle had it in him
Muggle thought I could do with walking through the dunes for 200m and 'kissing the ground' a few times when I tripped.
He decided he'd drive closer and then cause I was yelling the riot act to him he went and found the cache, good boy he is sometimes
Anyway my name went on the log and all was nearly forgiven
TFTC
All good with cache and replaced as found

Stopped at this cache whilst on a roadtrip with Eliktrisiti. We didn't find as many caches in the Geraldton area as we had hoped for, and after being home for a week or so, I have decided that the motto I would adopt for these logs would be this: It isn't the destination that is important, it is the journey!
In a nutshell, we had fun and that is what it is all about. Great company, lots of interesting locations, good variety of caches, even got to meet one of the local geocachers while out and about, and of course, we came home with a whole swag of smileys.
Stopped and gave this one a pretty thorough search, but think this one might be like the proverbial needle in a haystack, and so many other caches out there beckoning us to move along. Another time maybe...

After crawling all through the trees, this was actually easier than we thought! Found with Courtneymarie! Tftc.
Headed back up to Geraldton for another caching run (third time this year). We started off by picking up as many caches as we could in the wheatbelt on the first day before arriving in Geraldton. The next day we headed up to port Gregory and Kalbarri and the highlight of the day would have to be be the pink lakes in port Gregory. Day 3 saw us caching in Geraldton picking up some we missed last time and clearing up a few of our DNFS here before adding some more DNFS to the list. Day 4 we headed off to mount magnet picking up some caches along the way till we arrived there. I must say the caches in mount magnet were quite tricky to find and it was also a stinking hot day so we didn't get to find all the caches we were hoping to find there. The last day we cached along the coast on the way home. Once again it was stinking hot and we missed doing a lot of the caches we hoped to find plus the flies were driving us crazy but we still got to visit some great places. Most of the caches we looked for we did find and we came across some very sneaky well made cache containers along the way. Thanks to all the CO,s for placing there caches for us and all the other geocachers to find.
pug002 DNF 25/10/2016 not a good day for us, apart from muggles around, they just eluded us. Power lines didn't help with GPS's.
We were traveling down the WA coast, having left Adelaide and up to Darwin, when we stopped a few days in Geraldton.
Today as Di rested I found and signed a few caches along the beautiful coast.
This was found and signed after I returned and went a little further.

A nice quick find here. TFTC Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder this is find number 1209 for us.
Originally logged under family name of clan-wallace now slowly transitioning to new name
The last find of our morning walk, and happy to make a find here. I was in the middle of the "forest" and megawat60, who had spotted the cache from his angle, directed me. All is good with the cache. Cant say the same for the carpark though! TFTC and bringing us here, Team Pathfinder!
Wow this one brings back some great memories of years ago. I did a training presentation followed by a concert way back when............My memory fails me but I do remember we had Turbosound speakers and TAC console and all the really good gear form BSS etc! Enough!
What was weird is I am sure where we did it was in the old carpark which is now the ocean, what a blast mother nature is!
I was looking at some item that could have been the lid for a Huge cache, but alas no, however I did spot something of great interest and directed m4yb to the spot. We CITO'd the offending lid.
Thanks for this hide filled with many wonderful memories, I will try and find some pics and scan them in when I get home.

These are all out of order because I am playing catch up with the logging where & when I can. Found this one with Fratra on our weekend trip for IGD. TFTC
Geocaching has taken me on many adventures over the years all over Australia and overseas. It has also introduced me to a brilliant and diverse group of people, many of whom are now close friends.
Today I was lucky enough to be out and about with some of those friends and we targeted this cache.
Sorry for the late log, but thanks for adding to the adventure!
Thanks Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder (F=5265 H=135) for placing this cache.

Found in the company of maccamob and micaparamedic today. We took a while to find this one. We overlooked the obvious at the start and then weren't quite sure how to interpret the hint. So we looked alll over the place until micaparamedic and I put our heads together again to try to sort out the most likely interpretation of the hint. A minute or two later I had the cache.
It seems to depend on how you interpret the second part of the hint. And if you look properly of course!

Found by Mary & David, in convoy with Alansee and micaparamedic (logged as ACMPMM), at 1650. Took a while. Perhaps the sand does come across the road. Doesn't look stabilised at all. Our thanks to Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder.
The sand has gone to a better place I guess !!
Erosion happens
Depostion also happens.
So as one bit of the coast vanishes,
another bit will grow larger [^]
An easy find thanks to the cache notes and clues [^]
