Looks like everyone who's going to log has logged and all the travel bugs have travelled. Thanks to everyone who nominated, voted and came along to helped make it a great event!!

Unfortunately I couldn't attend the awards due to a prior commitment to see War Horse at the State Theatre (which was AWESOME). I could feel my phone vibrating in my pocket during the show as emails and SMS messages came in but it wasn't until later that I had the chance to read them. And I was surprised, honored, and elated to find out I'd won a gong!

My sincere thank you's go to:

- LouiseAnn for organising the awards, from what I've read on the logs it seems it was a top quality event.

- whoever nominated my multi 'Spy vs Spy 1 - Broken Arrow', and to everyone who voted for it.

- Pathfinder24 for donating the prize I received - the spiffy headlamp will come in very handy because I've recently discovered the joys of nightcaches.

- gmj3191 for delivering the certificate and prize to me. It was very nice to share a coffee, a chat, and a few laughs.

My congratulations also to the other winners and nominees. I've got a few more must-do caches to find now!

I share tackle_head's hope that these awards will inspire and encourage more creative hides. I'm finding it a lot of fun to create cache's - maybe it's even more fun than finding them, so start thinking and building!

I can't wait until next year's awards - NOTHING will keep me away!

PS. For those who have asked, Spy vs Spy #2 is in development... Wink

Found with nirgalagrin... now I have my own account.

Congratulations to all of the worthy winners... you've kept us well entertained throughout this, my first year of caching. It was wonderful to see and meet so many of the people who put so much work into their hides.

LouiseAnn, this event was a great idea, and you deserve a medal for all of the work you put into making it such a success.

Judging by the dusty state of her dress, Short-stuff had a great time with all of the other kids (not to mention any canines that happened by).

Oh... s***... The log book. D'oh.

Wow what a great turn out - a much bigger turnout than some lame attempts at Mega events we've seen recently !
I sponsored a prize and I won a runner-up prize. Smile
Thanks to LouiseAnn for organizing and a great lunchtime event. A lot of regulars there, alone with a lot of new faces.
The cobbled parking area was a bit rough in a Smart Car, but that was my fault for bringing.

Sorry we weren't able to make it in person, but congratulations to all the winners, especially The_Easter_Bunnies, for Cache of the Year. Sounds like it was a great event, well done to LouiseAnn and everyone else involved.

What an honour to be nominated for the 2012 awards and get such positive feedback from the geocaching community. We were overwhelmed to receive Best Puzzle/Mystery Cache, Best First Cache and Best Cache for 2012!! Thanks to everyone for your support and we hope many more people will get enjoyment from our little adventure. Thanks again to LouiseAnn for her efforts in making this all happen and 1000 apologies for not being able to make the event this time.

23-Feb-13
My first event. I was super-bored!
Attended with my dad, day1976. Backdating my attendance now that I have an account.

23-Feb-13
I had no choice but to attend this event. I was very impressed with the turn out.

It was finally upon us - the 2012 Victorian Caching Awards. I had waited a few years for some caching awards to come around yet I had never actually taken any incentive to make them happen. Luckily, LousieAnn found a will to host them this year. Geoff (gmj3191) picked me up early so we could do a few in the area just before the awards began. It was an area we had both cached in before, but there were still a few hides we each hadn't found. This was the 6th of 6 finds today.

Well, it was finally here. The much awaited VCA was finally here!

I won't bother writing much since nobody but Louise is going to read it now (curse my poor logging ethic), but I will say that it was a superbly organised event that I very much enjoyed. All winners were worthy and it was great to see so many categories with such a large turn out.

Thanks for doing this Lousie, cannot wait for next year.

PS, sorry for such a late log (writing this on 25/8/13) but I guess its better late than never!

23-Feb-13
Had an awesome afternoon muching on BBQ and celebrating the great geocaches of the past year. While all the winners were very deserving of their award, the biggest winner of the day and deserving of all their awards were The_Easter_Bunnies with their first ever cache hide "The Mystery of the Fyansford Treasure Horde". I had a great day catching up with other cachers and enjoying some brilliant food, thanks to LouiseAnn's non caching other half. Thanks for the event LouiseAnn.

23-Feb-13
We have just realised that we have forgotten to log this event. We had a great time catching up with some old friends as well as meeting some new cachers.
This was an event with a difference that we're sure everyone enjoyed and all the caches were worthy nominees
Congratulations to the Easter Bunnies and thanks to LouiseAnn for organizing the event.

As the winner of Best Cache Location, I suppose I should thank the BIG Bloke up there - as I had nothing to do with it!
I’d like to thank the young “Old GeoCacher” – Lemmykc for the Nomination; someone who loves Tower Hill as much as myself.
Thanks to all the people who voted for “Things That Go Bump in the Night”.
Thank you very much to the generosity of the sponsor of the category – Day1976.
And a special “Thank you” to LouiseAnn for all the work she put into Vic Caching of the Year 2012, to bring it to fruition.
Congratulations to all who were nominated, it shows that there are people out there who like your work.
I will now go and scrutinise, analyse and maybe even plagiaries (maybe I should have said that!) all the nominations for great ideas for future caches.
Regards,
Low-R’s

23-Feb-13
we went. we chatted. we looked at all the tb. and then we done some more geocaching. and what a awesome day it was. can't wait for next years one.

23-Feb-13
We picked up one half of Team Crackers along the way and arrived in good time to find the red carpet had been rolled out and the stage had been set for a professional award ceremony.
Soon the numbers grew and it was great to catch up with many that we had not seen for a while.
On time the awards ceremony began and we quickly learned about some great caches that have been earmarked for future logging, and as we had already done the winning cache it was unanimous on the day that this was well deserved.
Our sincere thanks to LouiseAnn for hosting a fantastic and successful event that we hope will continue each year. A Big thank you to B1 & B2 for cooking up some top food (MKR score = 10/10). Also I would like to say thanks to the sponsors who had faith in this event and donated some great prizes.

I'll award this the best event cache of the year. Thanks LouieAnn for all the thought and work you put into it.

23-Feb-13
My first event!

Being quite introverted, and not knowing anyone else there, this was a pretty tough one for me, but I'm very glad I did attend. Whilst I didn't really talk to anyone, it was great to see the awards being given out to all the deserved winners, and to start to put a few faces to names.

Thank you very much for organising this event, and for giving everyone a chance to vote and have their say in these awards.

I look forward to going to many more events, and hopefully getting to know the community more.

23-Feb-13
Attended with Bounty Trackers and KTCvic . What a great fun event plenty of new faces and some old ones too. It is always fun to catch up for a chat.
You and your helpers LouiseAnn should pat yourselves on the back for the effort put into this event. Congratulations to all the winners and to all those who got nominated what a great effort to be on the list. Well Done. Big Grin

Was great to finally make it to the first Victorian Cache of the Year Awards event. There was some great caches nominated and overall I think the community got it right but all who were nominated were all very deserving. Well done guys. Cool

It was great to catch up with some familiar faces as well as meet new ones too. It was rather hot so it was great there was a great big shelter for all to fit under. Many thanks to LouiseAnn for arranging the event an awesome effort.Big Grin Looking forward to the next one.

A fantastic first-time event and just before the Oscars too! Cool I was only a tiny bit late - how unusual [8)] but I did managed to arrive at about 12:50pm, which was well before the presentations. The winners were all well-deserved and have shown me some fun caches that I need to do, like tackle_head's Bring Ya Rod Series which I haven't as yet attempted. Red Face

I really enjoyed chatting with fellow cachers about our geoadventures and ended up staying at the event a lot longer than I anticipated - in fact I ended up being very late for a lunch date. Wink

Thanks LouiseAnn for organising this event. Your role as MC was really awesome and a million times better than that horrible bloke who did it at the Oscars (yes, I did watch some of it Red Face ). I think you'd be great at some of the boring work meetings I have to go to. Big Grin

23-Feb-13
Attended this one very late (for the last 15 minutes or so) of the whole event due to work committments. It was good to catch up with some cachers but unfortunately I missed the awards ceremony itself. I totally agreed with the winner of the Cache of the Year which LouiseAnn told me at the event. Congratulations to all the winners. Signed logbook.

Thanks for the event LouiseAnn.

23-Feb-13
Turned up to this one at about 12:50 with full intention of staying only for a short while (home duties were beckoning Surprised). Once the old gums got flapping though, that plan turned to water and I was soon gasbagging to many old faces and new Big Grin.

A sensational event despite the warm conditions and you've done a wonderful job LouiseAnn Big Grin. You've certainly set a high standard for future caching award events. Much kudos to you Big Grin.

Congratulations to all the extremely well deserved winners. You too have set a high standard for those who follow.

Took memories, signed log and a few of our geocoins had a visit to mark the occasion. Many thanks LouiseAnn.

23-Feb-13
As ever it was good to meet up with other cachers, some old, some new.

But this was an event with a difference, and well worth attending just for that. Well done to LouiseAnn and anyone else that was involved for all of the organising on this one - it went very well and the winners were all very worthy.

23-Feb-13
What A great day and a Great Event idea! It was fun catching up with old friends and adding more faces to familiar names. Thanks heaps to LouiseAnn for organising this event. I look forward to completing all of this impressive list of caches that have inspired me to be more creative!
Thanks

23-Feb-13
The event went really well! There was a great Melbourne & Victorian turnout, which meant I chatted to some people I hadn't met before, and afterwards I noticed I was too busy to ask some questions of people who had already left. The weather was alright (well a bit hot but great to have lots of space under the shelter) and the food prepared by Archie B1&B2 was a very nice gesture, thanks guys.

The presentation was pretty cool, good to see so many prizes on offer to the people who have spent hours and hours perfecting their caches. The Easter Bunnies swept all their nominated categories, not a big surprise, a deserving nod towards their efforts.

Louise if you are feeling depressed in a years time and need something to cheer you up, you can run another awards event - everyone will thank you and laud you with praise Smile You've already figured out how to set up a working voting system, noone else understands how you've set it up so you kind of have to keep running the system. Makes sense yeah?

Grats to all the winners and thanks to the sponsors & donors for rewarding them.

23-Feb-13
Attended today as I needed to get a cache for my 'Project 366' & over recent months I have met most of the nominee's... Cool Each win was well deserved... Great to see such a huge turnout for the awards...

Thanks for the fantastic event LouiseAnn... Hopefully this will be the start of an annual event...

23-Feb-13
Congratulations to Louise on organising and Hosting such a successful event that is well appreciated with all of the work involved in making it all come together .

Congratulations to ALL People who have published Caches , and for these Awards - the Nominees and the other Winners also on your efforts as what make our game challenging and interesting .

The game is only limited by our imagination and I think that these awards will inspire more quality Caches for our future enjoyment .

Thankyou to those who voted for the BYR series and to The Pathtag Portal for my $25 gift prize for The Best Cache Series - “ Bring Ya Rod “

The series has 34 caches with 2 being still unfound since November and a Genuine 5/5 traditional in Werribee Sth - #20 for those who would like to take the challenge .

BYR #6 – Melbourne Aquarium was 2010 - Top found Cache in Australia .

Was lovely to catch up with the Gang and was a lot of fun and now to look forward to next years Awards

Mary & David were there. Did we say that we love going to Events? So glad that the shelter, tables and comfortable logs for seats, escaped the 5 year old birthday crowd. Louise, you have set a standard for future Events. A large cacher turnout all appreciated the work you put in, which even extended to the iconic red carpet, an elaborate podium, and the excitement of the envelope openings! No need to watch the forthcoming Oscars now - it would be an anticlimax. Great prizes and certificates thanks to a long list of generous sponsors Wonderful catering too by Archie B1&B2. Congratulations to all the winners, and particularly to The_Easter_Bunnies for their Fyansford masterpiece, which won three awards including Cache of the Year. Our thanks to LouiseAnn.

After mingling in the foyer, the red carpet was rolled out, and a certain cachetricity in the air the ceremony commenced. Each award category had many worthy nominees and judging had been scrupulous. It was pleasing to see a couple of Geelong nominations managed to get in the spotlight.
Our gratitude and appreciation to Louise and the sponsors for creating such a great event which gets a tick from us - if we could favorite an event, this would be it!

Thanks again LouiseAnn - really well done and a credit to your organizing ability.

What a good gathering of caching people today, and an interesting set of awards. Good opportunity to catch up with a few people and exchange stories and ideas. Congratulations to the winners, and well done, LouiseAnn, for the organization of the event.

23-Feb-13
I enjoyed hearing the results of the voting and seeing most of the deserving winners collecting their awards. Great effort LouiseAnn to put this event together.

23-Feb-13
Had a great time at the event. Chatted with quite a w few cachers and some of the more famous ones. Gleamed some cool and helpful tips and some popular and now award-winning caches to go to and places to cache in and had a nice lunch. Enjoyed the award ceremony and marveled at the prizes, unfortunately my cache didn't end up winning but it was still great to see the other cachers receive theirs and learn of their efforts. Discovered a lot of trackables and swapped mine out. All in all had a great time and really enjoyed myself and the experience. Thanks for organizing it Louise, thanks for all the sponsors and food bringers and thanks to all the cachers for your efforts to put out caches.

Despite the best efforts of Kew road-works traffic, I was able to make it in time to hear the worthy winners of the awards this year, and discover many trackables (dropping a few off myself) Thanks for an enjoyable event and all your efforts LouiseAnn Smile

23-Feb-13
A hot afternoon, but an enjoyable one.
Thanks louise Ann for organising it. [:x]

23-Feb-13
Unfortunately due to work commitments I arrived too late to see the awards handed out but happily there were still plenty of stayers left to talk to. Looking forward to next year and hopefully I'll be on the podium. Thanks LouiseAnn for a great idea seen through to a fantastic finale.

23-Feb-13
What a great afternoon!! Plenty of sunshine, plenty of food, plenty of people to help, assist chat with regarding those caches thst you just cant find!!! Thanks LouiseAnn for the fabulous day and to the people who donated prizes. Fantastic Fabulous Happy caching everyone .

23-Feb-13

23-Feb-13
I'll award this the best event cache of the year. Thanks LouieAnn for all the thought and work you put into it.

23-Feb-13
A knock on the door at 10.30 announced to Trent that his lift to attend the 2012 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards event had arrived. His accomplices on this warmish day was Bounty Trackers and Gonefishen07, and the goal was to grab a few caches to and from the event.

Thanks for organising such a great event, was good to see recognition for the people that spend an inordinate amount of time working out and publishing caches for us to find. Was good to catch up with quite a few cachers, with plenty of laughs and anecdotes.

23-Feb-13
thankyou LouiseAnn for a great day, congratulations to all the winners

23-Feb-13
Thanks LouiseAnn (and all those who assisted) for all your efforts in putting together todays extraordinary event to celebrate geocaching in Victoria.
I am sure that this event will grow from year to year and I look forward to it's future.
Thanks also to all those who hide geocaches without whom we wouldn't yet be off the couch.
Onward and upward...

23-Feb-13

This was a fantastic, successful event, which we absolutely enjoyed down to our cotton socks. It was nice to catch up with others and meet the creators behind the caches. What a high benchmark you have set? Thanks LouiseAnn for organising the voting, nominations and the day. We think it a rip-roaring success and in the words of Shakespeare "I can no other answer make, but, thanks, and thanks"

23-Feb-13
Attended by The Empire @ 12:45pm
I nominated and voted for nearly all of the winners, they truly deserve their accolades. A special thanks to LouiseAnn for organising this event, hopefully the start of a tradition.

Sorry guys got called to do a job that just what happens sometimes when you drive a bus Well done to all the winners and i hope to go next time Cheer's port63

23-Feb-13
Well done to LouiseAnn for organising such a great gathering and award ceremony. I arrived just as the awards began, so I didn't miss out on any. It was great chance to catch up with old friends and to meet some new ones. Thanks for putting this together.

23-Feb-13
Congrats to the worthy winners and to LouiseAnn for a smoothly run event.

The young 'uns and I had a great time and, as always, met up and chatted with people we hadn't seen for ages.

Another one next year?..... YES please! Big Grin

23-Feb-13
What a great place for an event. It was a hot day, but there was plenty of shade available, and we made good use of the barbecue. Thanks for organising these awards - what an excellent idea and you put a lot of work into it, well done. We arrived thinking there would be hardly anyone there that we knew - but lo and behold, all the old crowd were there plus a bunch of new ones. Thanks for a great event.

23-Feb-13
Attended @ 12:15. I made a deal with the family that I would look after the kids at the dentist while the GLW (Good Lady Wife) went in, then I could go. Not long before heading off, spladem contacted me to arrange car pooling. Adam met me at the dentist and we made the drive to the event in my vehicle.
It would seem that Saturday morning is school sports (or some type of activity) as the area around the Kew approach to the Chandler was appalling traffic.
Once eventually on site, I engaged in many conversations, with both old friends and new.
There was some food laid on (thanks be to the bananas), a well organised award ceremony (thanks be to LouiseAnn), and a great time was had (thanks be to everyone).
Even though I've been around the caching scene for a few years now, I'm still surprised at what a welcoming bunch of nutcases with a shared obsession (and I mean that in a nice way), cachers are.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the event LouiseAnn (and support crew), the nominees, the nominators, the voters, and the attendees.

23-Feb-13
I picked up Gonefishen07 in Pakenham and then picked up KTCvic from his house in Endevour Hills we did a little caching along the way and had many laughs on our adventures. We arrived at the event just in time as the proceedings where started about 5 minutes after arriving. Congrats to all the winners of there well deserved caches,we all like them as if they where some interesting one it would get pretty boring so think out of the square and keep hiding them. Took alot of travel bug codes to discover and thanks LousieAnn for the great event and it was exciting to have one of my caches nominated.

Time 11:58 AM

A bit of a later start this morning with my mate, SedgwickDave. The main event today was the Victorian Cache of the year awards event, but we wanted to pick up a few puzzles that had been solved in the Hawthorn area. The weather was looking like it was going to be a scorcher, so probably only morning caches today.

Well, what can I say, what an absolutely fantastic turnout for this event. I have been looking forward to it since it was announced. it was great to be able to talk to so many cachers, new and old. The awards ceremony was a lot of fun, loved the red carpet. Really looking forward to next years awards Smile

Our thanks to LouiseAnn for making our first event so memorable. It was good to be able to put some faces to the names we often read about.

23-Feb-13
Yes, I was there! I arrived to secure the site at around 10.30am. By the time another group arrived at around 11.30am to host for a little person birthday party, I was all set up. (phew!)
Just before the start time, Archie B1 & B2 arrived with a fantastic spread of food. I want to thank them, I wasn't expecting that at all. By about 12.15 the party was in full swing. More and more people just kept arriving! I was extremely impressed with the turn out. Thanks to everyone who came out. There are 58 team names in the log book! No wonder the area looked well filled.
The presentation ceremony went down well, I think! I hope everyone could hear me OK. I don't usually have so many people paying that much attention to me.

I want to thank all the companies and people who donated awards (101geo, Pathtag Portal, geostuff.com.au, Tigersden's geocaching goodies, MSTEC, Pathfinder24, ahomburg, Day1976, gmj3191, GJMMelb, Dog-gone and Tacklehead) Thanks also to the people who helped me pack-up. There was an engagement party moving in straight after us, so we finished up in good time for them.

This was my first event as host, and I'm so glad it was such a success. Given all the fantastic feedback I have had from everyone, it looks like there will be one next year, so stay tuned.

Thanks again to everyone who nominated, voted and came to the event!

23-Feb-13
Was able to bribe pug_friend (the girl formally known as geoluce) to come with me to this one on a warm day, arriving just in time for a quick chat before the award ceremony began. Congratulations to all the winners. Managed to get Shannon from the Easter Bunnies on the phone just after the presentations (they couldn't make it) to let them know they had swept 3 awards for their brilliant "Mystery of the Fyansford Treasure horde." Got an SMS back almost immediately saying that Bianca (the other half of the bunnies) gave such a big shout that everyone within earshot was looking at them!!!!

A huge thanks to louiseann for the organisation of the awards and the event, these things do take a lot of work! Also thanks to the sponsors. The bar has been set high!

23-Feb-13
What a fabulous event, so well attended on a hot day. Congratulations to the winners of the awards, they were well deserved. Good to chat with old friends, and to make new ones as you always do at events. Thanks to LouiseAnn for organizing the great day.

Thank you Louise for the initiative in planning this award and your drive and hard work to get it done.
When you take into account, and the Advent series you ran during December and your general contributions on the FB Page and the GCA Forum, you've made an enormous contribution to caching in Melbourne and Victoria generally, and over the last few months in particular..
Always enjoy your caches too.

Thanks LouiseAnn.

Sorry that I can't attend this now. Due to the expected hot weather I've been asked to work. Sad
I bet its going to be a lot of fun. I was looking forward to it. Now I'll just have to look forward to the next event.
Have a great day everyone.

I'm really sad not being able to attend, after our cache was so generously nominated. Unfortunately I'll be on the other side of town that day, and as Toby is momentarily overseas, I feel it very unlikely he will be able to make it also. Even though I have been praying for rain for our sad looking gardens, I hope it holds off until after the event. Good luck to all the nominees! Smile

18-Feb-13
Will almost certainly be there Smile

18-Feb-13
Unfortunately, it is very unlikely that we will be able to attend.
But our heartfelt thanks to those who nominated us for the Series award and hope that the Wedderburn Event 2013 is as well received.

18-Feb-13
We will be there

17-Feb-13
We might as well make the trek, & snag a few more caches

17-Feb-13
Will be great to catch up with some familiar faces again & meet some new ones at this event... Big Grin

Thanks LouiseAnn for organising the event... Cool

Would love to attend but unfortunately have other committments with Horsham Golf Club visiting Bacchus Marsh Golf Club on this day and being Lady Captain it is one of my duties to attend such events. Congrats to the Bacchus Marsh and District cachers in port63, mudbrick, 6hinemoa2, bogonghazy and g-ordo for your nominations in these awards. It just goes to show what a cache rich area we live in to have so many nominated. Congrats also to the other nominees and I hope you all have a great day. Cheers caz

16-Feb-13
Thanks for heads up Louise for the nomination of my "All Out of Puff" cache. Big Grin

I'm not sure where I'll be on the day, if I'm nearby I will try and make it.

Looking forward to our very first event.

Please note! I have changed the time voting closes from midnight on the 22/2/13 until 5pm, just to allow me a little more time to process votes and prepare for the event the next day.
