I have participated in five Masters Games, two of them In Wanganui (2007 and 2011). Squash was one of my sports but by 2013, i had succumbed to arthritis in a hip and my competitive playing days were over. Funnily, it was at the 2012 edition in Dunedin when I first became aware that something wasn't right. At that event, I did still manage to pick up a bronze medal that I was very happy about.Twice, I had been here previously with the intention of searching for this cache but the muggle factor prevented me from doing so. Around midday on a pleasant enough day weatherwise probably wasn't going to work either but this time the coast was clear. The cache wasn't hidden the way I imagined it would be but I soon had my hands on it.
YAY! this one we found a little difficult but made us happier when we finally found!!!
Post dinner finding the cache was hard enough, but I no way would I be competing in a tennis match.Lovely evening for an adventure
#381.This another one was a good easy find.Another Wanganui cache marked off.TFTC.
Out and about with Flowerydaze and on a road trip to Whanganui for the Vintage Week-End which was most enjoyable. Found after some searching as it was well hidden. TFTC mjmnz FP awarded
Over from Adelaide Australia as an expat kiwi, catching up with friends and revisiting areas Ive lived in before, Wanganui being one of themand of course picking up the odd cache along the wayA quick find, stamp and return here todayFavourite point for the hide TFTC
Lovely fine day. A bit of wind out, but nobody playing tennis so a good day get a cache with no interruptions. Always have found it too busy with people around to attempt but a good day today. TFTC

#11,709. I am up in Whanganui on a long geocaching weekend with Infoferret. We parked nearby and headed up to GZ. IF had already found this one a while back but had forgotten where it was hidden. There seemed to be only one place it could be and then I noticed something. Yes. Cache soon in hand. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache exactly as found. Thanks mjmnz for hiding your cache here.
Unexpectedly found ourselves driving through the city today (managed to miss a turn off!) and while we were waiting for dinner GAR noticed this hide was fairly close and as wee needed to walk the dog and stretch our legs we came to make a find. Somehow I saw what looked like the hide immediately, sure enough, that was it. Off back towards car and something to eat. Thanks for placing mjmnz!
A super quick find by GigiEV as she was standing at just the right angle. Cool hide in a busy area. Pretty quiet down here today though. TFTC
Another cache found by me today. As I liked the cache and how it worked plus I’ve just started playing squash a few months ago I’m giving this a FP. TFTC
Unexpected late visit. While partner was visiting mother at the funeral home I walked the dog. Quick easy find as few around at this hour.
Back up Wednesday for the funeral once we're out of Covid isolation.

Out for a walk and since I was here, just had to look! Nicely placed and soon signed mad on my way. Tftc
I was up in Wanganui for the day and decided to try and get closer to cache 100. So I got on my bike and went to find some and got to cache 80 today
Found this cache nice as it was a change from the caches I'm used to Found really fast great micro cache tftc

Nice quick find and although the tennis courts were busy we were out of the way and all went well. The masters games in Dunedin were cancelled this year, due to Covid. Very sad. Cache is all good. TFTC
A nice quick find, as the cache was on the ground. I fixed it where I though it belonged, but the CO may need to check. Cheers.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. It was a great weather most of today. Today we cruised around Whanganui.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

I had searched for this a couple of times before early into my geocaching journey with no luck, however today it was an easy find
We travelled down from National Park to Wanganui this morning, and had nothing else planned, so plenty of time to pick up caches along the way and in this area. What a fun and sneaky hide - we were lucky that there weren't many people around in the evening, so made a quick find. TFTC
Our first cache we have found, not a super easy one but had an experienced geocacher on hand to help make the find. Thanks for this cache so close to our school. Look forward to finding more caches in the future.
Up in Wanganui (from Wellington) for the weekend and grabbing a few caches along the way. This was one of them. Third or fourth time visiting here, but the first time it's been clear enough to search. Didn't take long so spy what I was looking for and soon after had the cache in hand. All safe and dry here, TFTC
Day 1 (With Squirrel Nutcase) of our Whanganui road trip.
Knew this was going to be a long day today. First cache found about 8am and last one found just before midnight.
Mission today Event, A cache starting with the letter U, Several Multi's, Earth Cache, Virtual and anything else we could find.
Achieved all the above.
Thanks to Cache Owners for their placement efforts and sorry about the cut and paste but this was a huge weekend for us. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... On a road trip weekend - We haven’t been on anything like this since Covid Episode One in March. A special Community Event in Whanganui got our attention. So we’re off to the ‘River City’ for a bit of fun...
Day One of our adventure; after dinner - Our main activity centred on cleaning up the collection of multis around the city. These tend to take a lot of time and can result in some frustration if the calculations don't balance. We also picked up other hides that were available at a later hour... This cache was nicely placed - At this time of the night, foot and vehicular traffic was minimal. We were able to get in, find the attachment, and get out quickly. Thanks mjmnz and TFTC.

Great hiding spot!!! Im glad I went in the evening as I had to search for a while, a experienced geo cacher would probably nail this with muggles around, I'll be that good one day! Thank you
A nice quick and easy find this evening now the rain has stated to ease off. TFTC!
A quick park and grab on my way south. No one around today. Thanks mjmnz

This cache is our 3000th. It’s taken many years to get here. Loved the hide. No chance of seeing the cache but by elimination and spotting something unusual we found it. Favourite from us.
(# 5254). Off on a road trip from Wellington today to grab some caches for the Mystery At The Museum challenge. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC

Last find of the day, and ended up parking right next to the cache. I spotted it straight away and TFTC.
In town for one night and out for a stroll after dinner to see if I can find a cache from the area. Second one for the night. Took a minute or two to spot the hide but then all good after that. Used the street light over the road to see to sign the log. Many thanks for the cache.
Out and about with Miss 9 on a Mother's Day adventure yesterday. Within minutes Miss 9 had this cache in hand. Just had to wait for the muggles to pass by. tftc
Visiting from the UK after a break of four years.
Running an errand with a friend from Hawera & just had time to grab this cache whilst he loaded the Ute with supplies from a nearby store.
A lucky quick find.

First find of the day for Team IE. Nicely hidden, but managed to return serve. TFTC.
Found after fairly quick search and elimination of possibilities. Good hide. TFTC and greetings from the UK
We travelled to Wanganui today to do a little geocaching before tomorrow's International Geocaching Day event.
This was quite a straightforward find and it was helpful to have looked through some of the logs too.
We were also very pleased to locate this cache as we finally now have completed the Wanganui Masters Games 2013 series of caches. Thanks for the cache and the series mjmnz.

#366. Yippee, another find on this day of many DNF's. This one was tricky, but assisted by previous logs, I knew it was only a matter of time, & sure enough! Third find of the day, on the penultimate day of this short break. Tftc mjmnz.
Made a point of doing this one on this trip to Whanganui as last time I was here was as a participant in another sport in the Masters at another venue, and I suspected that there would be too much activity here to search effectively.
Quiet here today, took me a few minutes to spot what I needed to spot.
Log was hard to extract and I neglected to bring tweezers so had to improvise. Log may have been returned to the cache body, in caches of this type subsequent finders will thank you if you roll the log up so it fits in the lid then assemble the cache.
TFTC.

Luckily no one around as I searched. On nearly giving up read the logs, one of which gave me a further clue. Finally found. Very tricky. tftc
#3006 Quick find as a spied something as soon as I arrived. A wee tug and I found I was correct.
All good at GZ. Thanks for another smilie

Found thanks. Took me longer than it should have - these ones always do for some reason. Nice hide.
Finding some caches before judging dahlias at the Wanganui flower show. Third time here. Thanks mjmnz for the cache,
Yay another find in Wanganui area for us. we arrived at ground zero two people were playing tennis but we were slightly hidden away so they wouldn't know what we were up to or even notice we were probably even there. Mr watcache signed he log and placed the cache back where he found it. a very quiet area here today, actually the whole of Wanganui has been quiet today even in town. a good day to go caching. Thank you for placing a cache here another area we have not visited before. Lots of sporting areas in Wanganui great to see and even better they are being used. TFTC off to get another cache or two three or four.
Went back tonight as cache had been muggled last time , thanks for replacing quick find but sneaky spot !
Lots of people playing tennis here. Find what I needed but took a bit of manoeuvring to get cache. TFTC
Tennis was never my game, so I settled for this neat little cache. Good hide.TFTC
Went back a few times but always looked in the wrong place and then looked at the cache location again and figured out my mistake. TFTC.
Out for a southbound mission with fellow cachers, Thatsneat and TMNT, trying for a 50 caches in one day down in Whanganui. Cache all good and very nicely hidden, to a TMNT to find it. Mission accomplished, this one is a wrap.TFTC! Blenheim Bear

Once in a lifetime we wanted to travel to the other side of the world. This year we took a chance and made a 4 weeks trip to New Zealand! Although caching was not the main purpose, we had our GPS prepared and when we were close to a cache, we of course looked for it and logged it. So we found several dozens of "kiwi-caches" and want to thank all the owners!!
Our way from Wellington to Taranaki was determined by some of the old caches (and some caches, that we found on the way). After starting at GC46 our way lead us north. Since we had only the old GCs in our Garmin we had to use the free Wifi in a cafe and found nearby this one. Fast find, after we noticed something suspicious.... Thanks for placing!
