I am archiving this cache because it is too hard to retrieve without being noticed by mugglers and it has gone missing as the return was probably viewed by mugglers.
I intend to replace with an earth cache, which will be my first earth cache.
This will make the cache more interesting and muggle proof.

Thanks to those whose found in the past and signed the log.

Cheers Chris - chan 5456

25 May 2013, Week 4 – Day 28 of our Trip Around Australia
(http://mrlocks.tumblr.com)
“1CADFAY”, (1 cache a day for a year).
Port Headland.
Today we spent the morning at the caravan park, the kids played around the park while we tried to catch up with computer work. I managed to publish another cache in the GCA, ICEM series, Karijini. After lunch we went for a drive into town to have a look along the beach front and to find some local caches. We went to the Koombana Lookout and looked for “Turtle Tower, GC3RKR2”, but there were some muggles who lived in the house nearby who were sitting out in the garden and we had to leave without finding.
Next we went to find “Take It Easy, GC3TXED”. This was situated out on a sand spit near the harbour which looked like it was popular with 4 wheel drivers and quad bike riders. A quick find by Chloe, we grabbed the two TBs and GC to move on. As we were searching we watched as a large ship was guided into harbour by an escort of tug boats.
We parked the car nearby in a large parking area and then took a walk along the shoreline of the harbour, reading the signs along the way telling of some of the history of the area.
We headed into the harbour area where we could see the ship being taken into harbour and to look for another cache, “Harbour View, GC45022”. This was a playground and picnic area with lots of people coming and going, I managed to spot this one but it was a team effort to retrieve and place back. Chloe spotted a munzee and captured it.
We continued our walk along the harbour foreshore, then into the town centre. We stopped at the war memorial and had a look for Wandering Aus’s cache, “WanAus 104 – Port Hedland Gun”. All four of us had a good hard look for this one and we are pretty sure it’s not on there anymore, ?. Sorry Keith! We then returned, through town, to where we had parked the car and nearby had a look for another cache, “Harbour Entrance, GC4502Y”. This was a quick find by Charlie and we headed out of town to have a look at the salt mine loading area view point where there was another cache, “Big, Bigger, Biggest GC3TXA6”. I soon spotted this one and we had the log signed and were quickly on our way to have a quick look at South Hedland before grabbing some shopping, filling up with fuel and heading back to the caravan park.
After we had a cuppa we went for a walk to the nearby beach to watch the moon rise over the sand flats exposed by the low tide. The moon rose full and swollen, glowing bright orange in the fading light. The effect of the moon reflecting on the water over the sand flats created the illusion of steps, thus giving this phenomena the name of “Stairway to the Moon”.
After dinner we went for a quick drive back in to town to have a look at the harbour lights and see the ships all lit up sitting out at sea.

Had a look for this one a couple of weeks ago but couldn't lay our hands on it. Found it within moments this time - was just viewing from the wrong angle! Great spot for a cache, glad to see some new caches in and around Hedland. TFTC.

Got the first DNF on this one. Smile it was a little busy and a bit challenging for me in the dark with just my phone for light. Will try again in a week or two.

This is such a great spot and I am so pleased to be part of kathieb's "first to find" as we regularly frequent this area of an evening.
Thanks Geocaching too, for listing the new caches and for what it means it is much more fun than I thought it would be.
The small plastic bag containing the log may not last too long so if it does not last the container seems sturdy enough to keep everything clean.
Congrats on your first cache and hopefully I may be able to return the compliments soon.

WOW, this is my very first "first to find". I am really excited.... came with GTRPhil55 We often come here of a night to watch the ships come in and the lights so this is a bonus. It is such a lovely relaxing area.
We are new to Port Hedland and are enjoying the caches in the nearby.
This is a lovely area and we are hoping to create some Cache's of our own in the near future.
