Looked everywhere for 20 mins but no luck, do we need to come back when there is less leaves? Maybe a tiny hint of “lake side of road” or not will help
You little bloody ripper! We had searched for this cache about 18 months ago and ended up walking away with only a few scratches to show for our efforts. Today we returned with a positive attitude and determination to find this blighter, well I did, Steve didn’t hold out much hope.
As time passed by, that positive attitude dwindled to the point that I was about ready to admit defeat. We weren’t even sure if we had the correct coordinates. Then a miracle happened, Steve yelled out those beautiful words ‘found it’.
Cache and logbook in surprisingly good condition.
Thank you day1976 for an enjoyable multi and a challenging hide.

A nice easy multi with a not so easy GZ. Searched initial GZ Nada...moved on a bit to where my senses were thinking it might be Nada ... stepped back out and tried a different approach zip..looked at previous logs nope nope nope ..
After solving the numbers we headed off to gz. As we neared the quiet location the GPS got very jittery and it looked like this could be take awhile but as sometimes happens I stopped at just the right place and happened to spy something out of place through the shrubs and the cache was ours. Tftc
We are having a 'day' trip to Emerald, and after finding a D5 Whereigo, we came for a lovely walk around the lake. We had a great time here and really enjoyed the multi.
At GZ we looked in lots of likely places that matched the hint but found no cache. If we had spent a little longer we may have found it. Anyway, it's a good excuse to come back another day!

Woohoo! Had a bit of a dry spell and it was awesome to break this with a Fathers Day cache for dalrot. Found in our 5km with geobaby and geopup
This was actually my third attempt on this one (I sometimes neglect to write DNFs I'm afraid). The initial coordinates were easily gathered most of a year ago in between the lockdowns, but I hadn't been able to find it then. Nor had I spotted it on revisiting the day the 5km rule loosened up.
This time I arrived a few minutes before 1pm and saw Puffing Billy go past nearby then returned to the cache hunting. Was just slowly moving out of the area when I spotted it tucked away. I didn't see any leeches (I approve of their absence) but there was some silica-wielding vegetation that created some painful stripes on my arms.
Thanks for the cache, beautiful area round here, seeing puffing billy go past was a nice bonus too.

BeckNmonts and I were out doing some Lab caching mixed it with a few regular caches when BeckNmonts mentioned she’d made a start on this one & we could have a go at finishing it off while we were here “fairy” Lab caching...so we visited some fairies down by the lake and then made our way into the fairy dell scaring the bunnies before finding the secret path....and that’s where the wheels fell off! Neither of our compasses would settle, we couldn’t find a spot that matched the hint and we looked and we looked. Theories were discussed, cache creep, the hide had rotted, the tree had fallen, cache blindness times two. We battled technology, leeches, mozzies and feelings of inadequacy! Anywho, long story short...I just crouched at the right moment, at the right angle and spotted what we’d been looking for...for 20 minutes....what a lovely feeling that is...and signing a log with a palindromic date. Another discovery today, bright pink socks are great in leechy areas because the little suckers contrast beautifully with pink so are easy to see and you can get them off quickly!
Today I finally got to find a cache that I worked out two years ago when I took a muggle friend from WA to see Puffing Billy. (Have I mentioned that I love Puffing Billy?) my friends wanted to go on the train, which meant I had to rush off and take photos at the bridge, and then pick him up at the other end. It was a sad day for me caching wise. It was also sad that he forgot to hang out of the train at the bridge! Thanks for placing the cache day1976, today was not a sad day!

Out caching in the cardinia reservoir area today with Brainiac03. With the main target being the Reservoir itself and as many multi caches as we can grab along the way.
With no major issues during the rather successful day we managed to have a rather productive day. Thanks for the cache.

Today, buhfuhguh and I were out on another caching run, this time in the Upper Beaconsfield/Emerald region with a focus on passing by Cardinia Reservoir before the weather started to heat up and our battle plan was forced to change.
A very hot day for geocaching but still a lot of fun (and nothing that the Astra's air con couldn't handle) filled with plenty of fantastic finds along the way!
Chasing the Adventure Lab in this park, we absolutely had to do this multi too and WP1 was tackled with ease.
We gradually walked across to gz and were pleased to find that there were nearly no muggles around, such a serene scene!
Things weren't looking too great early on, with plenty of possible locations on offer, but I managed to get a lucky glance right at the container after a few minutes that had the logbook signed and this multi completed!
Thanks to day1976 for highlighting some beautiful spots with the park with this multi!

We headed to Emerald Park Lake today for a wander and explore. After timing our arrival with that of Puffing Billy, which the little one loved, we had a walk around the park. I have had the coordinates for this one for so long, I don't actually remember much of the original visit! It took a while for me to find this one - turns out I had looked at it a few times and missed it every time (except the last, obviously!). I was glad to finally make the find here. TFTC!
Went there today with Adventure Labs. Also doing with Multi, Found your cache day1976, thank you so much for placing it.
Given the current State of Disaster declared in Victoria and the strict laws regarding movement around the state, I am disabling all of my caches within Victoria until restrictions are lifted.
As restrictions are beginning to ease, I am enabling some of my geocaches that aren't regularly found. I will monitor advice from government officials, geocaching HQ and the local reviewers with regards to enabling more or re-disabling these.
This cache will be disabled until the COVID-19 crisis is over. Please refrain from finding this geocache.
Being nearby tonight, we stopped here to grab this nemesis cache. Ohc was here to help and correct my caching error , which was a .004 difference in my previous calculations. .004 might not seem much but in terrain like this it made all the difference. Still it was a very long search until I called out “got it”, oh such ecstatic relief !!
For future finders re the hint, replace the word tree with sapling , and logs with log . And no need to go deep bush.
Thanks day1976 for Emerald Lake Park

A beautiful afternoon, perfect for a cache or two after work. So when atsmug told me he was planning to avenge a dnf, I was keen to tag along.
Arriving at posted coords I took a quick photo as we drove past and parked. Then we set about double checking his previous workings. Well now, that could explain why a dnf. So we headed up and spent some time searching as our GPSrs were bouncing this way and that. Widening the search area, it wasn’t long before atsmug calls out those words we all love to hear “Got it!”
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, day1976

Solved the puzzle (I think) bit no luck finding the cache at ground Zero. Circled the area for 20 minutes but after getting eaten alive & drawing blood, called it a day
Kyb3r is a big train nerd so for the second day of our Melbourne trip we took the Puffing Billy Steam Train out to lakeside for a day, cleverly escaping the crowds in the city for Melbourne Cup Day. Our last cache for today. I solved the puzzle easily and we enjoyed the walk to the cache site where kyb3r quickly made the find. Back to the train we go!
Nice easy multi. Had a tuff time finding the cache though. This was one of those times when the iPhone zeroed in better than my Gpsr. Found s trackable here that hadn’t been logged as dropped off, I left it here.

Lovely sunny day during winter. Enjoy my walk around the lake on my day off. Been searched for half hour almost gave up but last check few metres away. Finally found it. Thanks day1976 for placing the multi
Found it!
Great day out collecting chestnuts on the way to GZ. Lots of fallen trees & branches around GZ, looks like a storm went through here!

This was the last cache for the day. We met up with a mob to do the nearby “caching by the dozen” but, some had already started the work on this one and being good cachers, were happy to share the knowledge. But then we split up, with some choosing to attack it later. Jules6 and I chose to drive closer to gz, which didn’t really work, but we did find it. Thanks Day1976, I’ve never been to this part of the park before.
My Friend Bonny Black and I had some help from some other geocachers in the area to get the final coordinates , but then the challenge was , how best to get the without having to walk too far , Eventually we got there , thanks day1976.
Gathered our numbers from the sign and later worked out a path to GZ. Sighted and took photos of Puffing Billy a number of times whilst enjoying some caching in the Park. Lots of folks out picnicking, strolling and riding the train today - it is Saturday after all! We found our way to GZ without encountering any muggles except the workers on Puffing Billy. We did meet BonnyBlack and Jules 6 just leaving the site. SL at 2pm Left: train caboose. #5964 TFTC day1976

On our way to the Saint Arnaud lead-up event in Emerald. I dropped some Empire pathtags in some of the caches we found today. Make sure you log them on pathtags.com if you pick one up. A tricky find at GZ after a great walk around the park - plenty of chances to take pics of Billy as we wandered. Thanks for the cache day1976.

This afternoon I headed east for several reasons. Mainly my cache centroid is over 800km west, and I want to nudge it a little closer to home. Plus, there was a new wherigo to be found, and a possible FTF. I also for the first time in over 5 years headed out to cache specifically targeting DT ratings. So due to all these factors I wound up in the 'far east' this afternoon.
I parked my car near the Nobelius Siding, hopped on the bike and was soon puffing my way around the lake. The bike was more a hindrance than a help for much of the circuit, but the walking was enjoyable anyway. After some travelling around I was at GZ for this multi. It took about 10 minutes to find the cache, although it was exactly as described and exactly where the GPSr said it would be. Sometimes we miss the obvious.
Thanks, Day.

Collected the answer to this about 18 months ago. Only took me that long to get back. No joy at my gz. I'll go back and check the numbers sometime maybe in 18 months
Walked in circles for ages , not finding much that matched the hint near GZ , looks like the area has been cleared out a bit toob
Finally had time and opportunity to finish this today. Virtually no Muggles around and more than an hour of daylight left, which was just as well, as it took me a while to find it. Feeling pleased to have this wearing a smile on my map. TFTC
After a great group gathering to do the mob cache a few of us went after this one too. I had actually photographed the clues some time ago and written down the answer which I didn't have with me today but had never made the walk to it.
Another good walk and a well hidden cache. Thanks Day

A nearby puzzle had attracted a herd of cachers to the area. I did my best to blend in but all too often I found myself on the periphery, watching...
The herd soon grazed upon a fresh smiley and I partook of their customs. I was accepted as one of their own. But though I was 'in' the herd, I was not 'of' it.
The thing with the herd mentality is that there is safety in numbers, and to survive you only need to be faster than another near you. Years of evolution was evident here as the members of the herd continued to stay close to each other. The herd then migrated down to the lake in search of fresh smiley fodder. But I was craving something higher up the food chain!
I stayed close.
And watched...
And waited...
The herd picked up the fresh scent of a smiley and set off in a new direction at speed. I followed, hoping for stragglers. Someone fell off the back of the herd... but the terrain didn't suit me. It was a bit too open.
I remained patient and rejoined the herd at the smiley. We all partook of the feast. The herd were in a playful mood. That's always a good sign - they were relaxing; dropping their guard...
I looked around and noticed the defensive position I found myself in. Every approach was obstructed so the herd would have to depart the area in single file...
I lingered.
I loitered...
The herd moved off.
I struck!
One of their number didn't make it out, never to return to the safety of the herd.
I wonder if anyone noticed...
There is safety in numbers, but also anonymity.
Thanks day1976.
I enjoyed this hunt!

After caching by the dozen, we split into smaller groups to do this multi.
I took the high road with Clancy79 and we eventually arrived just after the first group had returned the cache.
Thoroughly enjoyed being heckled whilst searching for the cache, with an audience.
Seem I need to lift my game.
The next group then arrived and soon after we all went our separate ways.
An enjoyable outing to the lake in good company.
Thanks for putting the call out there McLookers.
Thanks for the caches and a pleasant stroll in the area day1976.
Dropped a traveler. Visited some others.

I was only intending on finding the mob cache but as some of the group then headed off to do this one, I figured that I could squeeze this one in so I joined them.
After working out the final coordinates we headed off on a nice walk to GZ, once there the cache was found quickly, the log was signed and the cache replaced just as some others were showing up to find it.

After completing the Caching by the dozen cache a few us came by and picked up the clues for this cache. Then it was a nice pleasant walk through the park to find it. TFTC
With a post on social media asking for people to join in and help with numbers to do the nearby mob cache Mark9375 and I were in all beit sleepy eyed from a late night of caching the day before. After completing the mob cache the mob wandered over here in smaller groups. And we all went about solving the coordinates we all compared answers to confirm the result and off we headed in a few different groups which sort of split up but after a nice walk in the forcast gale force winds the coordinates had us back together in a likely spot a quick search and it wasn't long before the cache was signed. Just as it was returned n0w0rries started closing in so we all stood back and heckled while he searched too. All in all it was a great day out. Thanks for bringing us here and for the fun TFTC
With a group of happy cachers after finishing the nearby mob cache successfully, we made the short walk to the start of this multi. With heads down and bums up we all went to work collecting the clues and all agreeing on a set of plausible numbers (not mentioning the error we made when correcting the coords though lol). The lovely walk was enjoyed by all as we all gossiped about chasing Tupperware in weird and wonderful places.
Thanks day1976 for the pleasurable multi that ran ever so smoothly.

Last time I was here in the (1980's) there was a big waterslide - it was fun !
I guess with OH&S and insurance issues these days the fun had to stop ?
It was FREE parking then & it was today I hope !!
Got the numbers ok which is good for a change & off I trekked
Had old puffin stuff cruise by as I searching for the elusive prize, took a while but its done now.
Thanks for enticing me back to this park again, boy has it changed... TFTH.... day1976

After having a total brain fart trying to find where to get my coords from (duh!), Miss 6 and I were soon on our way in this revoltingly busy but beautiful place. Escaping from the crowds, we wandered through the undergrowth for a bit (trying to keep away from the razor grass), before I decided to read some logs which pointed me in the right direction. Thanks for the cache and the meander! We've never been into this part of the park before.
Fun find after a lovely breakfast at the general food store. Gps took a while to settle but got there in the end!
A simple multi that gave me am excuse for a walk while in the park for a family picnic. Looks like I made the same mistake as many others at GZ.
I took the opportunity to look at the two steam engines that where in town, they look well maintained.
A number of trackables are visiting for the miles.
Thanks for the cache day1976.

This multi flowed well and with the numbers sorted I set off for a pleasant walk through the park. There were plenty of people about at the start but as I progressed on the paths became deserted. Arriving at GZ, the trees were sending me a little in circles but thanks to the hint I was able to narrow it down to the exact spot.
Thanks for this enjoyable multi and a reason to explore the park.

After our morning routine with the lil one, we were looking for something to do on this beautiful day. Mel started some googling of nice parks nearby, and Emerald Lakes popped up. At only just over an hour drive, we decided to make up a bit of a picnic and head out. What a stunnign spot! We wandered over nearby the lake and picked a nice sunny spot to set up. Emily enjoyed crawling around on the grass and playing with the leaves and sticks, whilst Mel and I enjoyed soaking up some much needed sun. After we ate and packed up, I spotted this nearby cache. A quick dash to grab the required info, and I soon had the lil one in the carrier and we were walking off to GZ. Puffing Billy went past as we were walking which was pretty cool. I had a bit of trouble when I got to GZ trying to pinpoint the right spot. I started to walk out again and take stock and try again, and turned my head and saw something not quite right. Soon after, a well hidden cache was found. Thanks for this great little cache.
Firstly, an apology for my extremely slow logging time (logging this find on 2/7/17).
Today I came out here to attend a spontaneous event for one of the nearby buddy caches, and spent the day in the Dandenongs either side of the mini event. Some nice caches were found in what is always a beautiful area that I will never tire of visiting. This was the 5th find of 5 finds for the day.
After collecting the info at the start of our walk, this one turned out to be a tougher find than we had anticipated. GZ was at a really cool spot but the spot did make it tough to locate a cache in amongst all of the bushes. Nevertheless our group persisted and eventually I laid eyes on it.
Thanks day1976

Someone suggested that a drive to another car park was a good idea. Parked at the new parking spot and only found team jascat. We headed off together and walked along some railway lines and realized that was not a good idea, back tracked to a better spot to home onto GZ. We could hear other cache teams not far away but the bush and terrain was very rough. We found a clearing and a path that looked like it was pointing towards GZ. Eventually arrived at GZ and had the location to ourselves. Searched for about 30 minutes, jascat made several PAF attempts to get some additional info, the reply's she got didn't help us much and with daylight fading we started talking about giving up. I had my trusty geo torch cranked up to the max and we gathered back on the muddy path, and I had a look in a spot that matched the info we had and was exactly were my garmin Etrex said GZ was. FOUND IT was my shout, Signed the log book and had a pleasant walk and chat with jascat back to our cars.
Thanks team jascat for pushing me to search a little longer and day1976 for placing the cache.
That was fun as usual when you go geocaching and don't plan too much.

With the coordinates for this cache worked out after a group gathering, the party of cachers made their way here for a nice quick find. The coordinates worked out well after reading previous logs.

After coming to Emerald Lake Park to complete the mob cache and doing so in record time a group of us decided to go and find this one. After getting the clues a few headed off on foot. I decided to move my car to the other carpark across the way thinking it would be closer to GZ. I met up with don55 at the other carpark and we headed off to meet up with the others. We started off walking along close to the train line when we realised that we needed to walk further east of the line. We were confident that the others were't to far in front of us so when we arrived at GZ we were surprised to see no one there. We decided to start searching and maybe the other would turn up soon. After about 30 minutes of searching and with no other teams turning up I was beginning to wonder what had happened to them. After PAF we were told that they had been and gone. don55 and I were left to search on our own. Another PAF attempt to get some additional information that might help us in the search but no we were still unable to locate the cache. don55 suggested we call it a day. I suggested we hang around for ten minutes. That extra ten minutes paid off as don55 made the discovery of the cache and we signed log and got out of there before the last bit of daylight faded. Thanks Day for the adventure.
After attending the nearby mob cache a small group formed to tackle this cache while we were here. A bit of simple math soon revealed the location of gz and after a pleasant stroll a quick and easy find was made. We made our way back to the carpark and bid farewell to our friends old and new before heading home. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
I was keen to deal with the multis in this park while there for the mob cache thingy. Indeed I made a point of parking near the start of "A Very Happy Chappy" but had allowed insufficient time to get very far there. Afterwards I made my way to the starting coords for this one and found that Papillon4506 had had the same idea. We confirmed one another's calculations then parted ways. I spent quite a while at GZ. I eventually consulted the hint but the corresponding feature that concealed the cache was far from the first such feature I examined. I was a little surprised that I was the only signature in the log since April (I know multis aren't hugely popular, but the park had been swarming with geocachers); I was pleased when returning car-wards to cross paths with a veritable tsunami of geocaching types now heading to GZ. Thanks day1976!
Woo Hoo! Our second day1976 cache, we are on a roll now. Thoroughly enjoyed this multi as it took us on a lovely walk through this beautiful park. My parents once a year would hire an on site van here and I once knew the area very well. We had dawdled a bit on our way here and arrived just in time to watch Lemmykc make the find look easy. For the third time today we signed a log book that was a bit like playing pass the parcel.
Thanks day1976 for the cache and a lovely day out.

After a group (including yours truly) had assembled to complete the nearby Caching by the Dozen most went on to find this cache.
Once again, the cache had already been found by the time I and my companions got there so it was all about making sure everyone signed the log.
Now that the easy-ish Day caches are done, I have to come back for the two which are carrying a fair bit of unlove....

Great hide. Had me searching for a fair while And one of our fellow cachers found it TFTC Day
Caching by the dozen created a defacto (Day facto?) event of the hunt around this park. I remember a waterslide used to drop into the lake.
Didn't find it. Found where it looked like logs had been next to the tree. Think it is gone.
Cache hadn't been found in 3 months and there has been many trees down in the area so perhaps it got lost. Did not find
Arrived at the Melbourne Mega a day early so we were ready to cache. Our group including Laurie (Bushfire), Aussie M & M (Mary), mogni (Monica) and brisal5 (Brian). We used the caching name of BAMBI for the weekend and set about to have a wonderful time. Unfortunately, on the 11/11/15 I had a close relative pass away... I ended up being dropped off at Bendigo after the mega, attending a funeral and then flying home from Melbourne on the 15th or 16th and I just never got back to logging these caches. Sorry for the late log, I do remember almost all of the caches we did on this day as being good quality and enjoyable. Thank you for that.
In the area preparing for Melbourne Mega with Bushfire, Aussie M & M and brisal5. AKA Bambi. This was one of many stops of what turned out to be a very big day.
Thank you
Thank you
Leaving Geelong on my way to Carrum Downs to our cabin which was to be home for the next four days. Later that evening I was joined by three mates from SA (brisal5, moggi and Aussie M & M) and it was decided that we would cache under the name of “BAMBI” for the weekend to save space in all the log books plus it would be quicker. Our combined resources were very helpful enabling us to find some very fine caches.
I apologise for the generic log but with so many caches found I will say a great big thank to all the CO’s who placed these caches for us to find. This time next year I will be getting these logs as I have a number of caches in the Anglesea area.
Finally a word of thanks to the Melbourne Mega Committee people who did a great job in organising a fine Event.

Your cache was found by Team BAMBI (Bushfire, Aussie M&M, mogni and brisal5 incognito) as part of the Melbourne Mega Event weekend. BAMBI to save space in the logs. Like the Melbourne event, this weekend was planned for months prior with more puzzles solved than we could possibly find the caches for in just 3 days. We thank all the C/Os and Event committee for making this a wonderful weekend for us. [^]
What a great park. Can see why it is your favourite. With so many trees near GZ, sat lock was difficult and we spent a long time before mogni found the prize. Thanks day1976.

Found with TeamLauren. After spending a great day on Puffing Billy it was nice to find this cache. Thanks for the cache.
After an awesome ride on Puffing Billy a nice walk around the lake and park and we soon had this cache in hand. Found with emthegem to celebrate her 700 find.
Stunning and peaceful spot. Just the sound of birds and the whistle of Billy. Cheers!
Up in the hills for the challenge of getting a dozen or so cachers in the one place at the one time and all with data connections. Also grabbing a few additional caches of interest along the way.
After all the excitement of the Dozen its time for a quiet walk in the park and this was a very quiet GZ to just sit an relax.
Thanks for placing this cache day1976

A nice quite walk around Emerald Lake on a sunny day to find the clues for the coordinates and then the cache.
After twice working out this multi over the last year, I never made it to GZ. Today though in the company of Spiffy- and muttley! we made sure we got to the GZ and found this cache after watching the train pass. Thanks to Day1976 for the cache.
We headed out again with much better weather this time than last week to do a bit of walking to find a few more plantigrade multi waypoints.
We gathered the clues for this last week then got distracted and forgot to go and look for it.
Today we made an obscure way into it down some high terrain but it was a fairly easy find in the end after watching Puffing Billy pass by.
Thanks day1976 for the cache, the hunt and the fun.

We hired a car from the city and began our Dandenong and Yarra Valley day trip. After arrived Belgrave we took the Puffing Billy all the way to Lakeside and spent an hour there. The final coords was a bit further than I expected and I had to rush to the GZ and rush back to the station before the train departed. Thanks for the cache and thanks for showing us this beautiful country side of Melbourne.

Just going back and logging all the geocaches we've found as #SEALTeam4 under my own name. TFTC
love Emerald Lake Park fun looking for the sign.
love Emerald Lake Park fun looking for the sign.
Our third find, in a lovely secluded spot off the main walking track but quite easy to find so my girls didn't get too bored looking. They enjoyed having to find the sign to work out the final co-ordinates. Lots of fun, thank you
Found it after some hard work done by my Dad and sister. Fun find and a nice day at Emerald Lake! TFTF
Visited this cache with my cachemate ead84 during our Holidays in Australia.
Had a nice ride with Puffing Billy, but unfortunately rain at the lakeside... so had a walk with our umbrellas and could find the Cache later when it had already stopped ^^
Thanks for this cache!
