Last full day of our annual Christmas trip to Townsville visiting my in-laws. The extended family in law is having a get together at the tea rooms late in the afternoon. At some point in the afternoon, I managed to slip away and go and clean up some nearby caches.

I gather from the Terrain rating that this container used to be at the top. However, I found it in goid condition at the bottom. Pity, as I was kind of looking forward to climbing it to retrieve the cache. Signed the log and replaced the container as found.

Thanks for the cache, Condorito

Driving up Herveys Range for my Sunday caching trip.
Stopped here on the way West but it seemed to private, read the logs later and found out it was OK with the owners.
Area well cleared, easy walk to GZ. A few roo's where feeding on the green grass in the creek bed, came very close a few times.
The Windmill did move and turn a bit.
Thanks for hiding here

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there Condorito. We found your cache "Run Of the (Wind)Mill Cache" at 1:32:00 PM today.
This was our 3rd cache find in a caching run of 4 Finds & 0 DNFs today. (So this now makes our find count 9744.)
[Blue]
We are trying to log at least one cache cache every day, so we can add to the streak of "Most Consecutive Days" cached, which we started on New Years Day 2014.) Our route today took us to some really wonderful & scenic locations.

We wandered along the creek bed fro a nearby side road, and got covered in prickles on our journey.. Once at the windmill the cache was a really easy find. [/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Excellent. (We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.)
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

I found this cache but beware this is actually on private property and the is a red back and wasps in the tube. The owners came out to see what was going on but it is all good. They said that the windmill still works and is working at this very moment. I also saw a snake skin so everyone beware and be careful if u want to find it

Very overgrown surroundings. Blink & you'll miss this one. Be aware this cache is actually stashed on PP. No fences to mark boundaries. Snakes, spiders & huge drop bears make the area home.

Quick find before lunch, using up the last of the school holidays on a day trip to Herveys Range. S.L, TNLN, TFTC, Condorito.

and so the downhill run begins. 330 odd days ago we had this crazy idea to complete a 365 day caching streak. As we get close to the end we will start to run out of caches in Town and we will have to travel a little further afield to make our finds.

After finishing work we traveled out of town to GZ and made the stroll across the creek line to make the find. NOte sure the cache is where it should be based on the terrain rating but we put it back where we found it and then began the journey back in to town.

A great day out caching with Preeds, we headed off to the Hervey Range,
as neither teams had been to the area.

Parked nearby for an easy stoll to GZ.
Cache was found quickly, and in good condition.
Many thanks for the cache, Condorito.

Out caching with The Drovers on their current visit to Townsville.

Nice little spot we would never have found if not for caching, thanks.

I'd seen that this was in a more sensible location so I dropped by for a quick find. Good not to risk life and limb to find it in its original position. I'd rate the 'true' location as terrain 4.5.

Thanks.

Cache container is not where it should be.

We looked around the ground and found it completely exposed, so we placed it near the base. TFTC

We had a fair idea where this one would be and MPP and RobS72 both went for a look. It turns out that the cache had shifted involuntarily and MPP found it down the bank at the base of the windmill. No knowing where it came from we left the cache at the base for the owner th re-hide. TFTC. Smile

Out and about caching in the Harveys Range area with MattCNS and Mtn Pygmy Possum. We arrived at the GZ and Mtn Pygmy Possum ventured up the windmill to locate the cache. After searching the top of the structure thoroughly, she returned to earth empty handed.

I then ventured up next and was also defeated in the search. There was no way that the cache was still located up on top of the windmill as previous logs had stated. So we decided to check the surrounds in case it had some how fallen off the windmill and low and behold, Mtn Pygmy Possum found the critter out in the open, down in a nearby gully.

We signed the log and placed the cache in a spot for the CO to easily find and return to its proper hiding spot. The CO will be emailed with the details.

A quick look on our way to Ravenshoe. A very quick look failed to turn up the bounty. We will be back when more time is available for all the ones we have not completed on this section of the highway

Brilliant!! We decided to tackle this Western cache cluster today and started here. I previously did a windmill cache in SA that was similar so was keen to revisit fun times Big Grin. Did my Loki thing and all was well, then the wind started. Geez that's terrifying!! Don't want to give too much away but it was great fun and scarier than expected. Thanks Condorito

Hmmm !! I think I got a bit distracted by the previous cache findiers comments and put the terrain ratings down to the difficulty of reaching the windmill Smile
I could the windmill from the road and strolled off along the path.
Well that was real easy [:o]
I looked around for any sign of the cache, but I was in full view of the muggles in the nearby house and kept low.
I couldn't find the cache anywhere and retreated before somebody saw me lurking !!

Now as I type this epitaph to a failed cache chase,
I realise where I went wrong [:o]
And I also realise where the cache is hidden !!

Ooooh !!

I'll be back one day to right wrongs !!

Well I was in the area so thought I'd drop by this one after picking up the others by the CO nearby. Found the windmill okay after I had to go back to the lookout to get the coordinates from my phone for my Garmin. Spent a lot of time looking at everything and read the logs. The most recent log finally turned on the light bulb for me but on my first venture didn't find anything. Then I stood back and realised where it was. Hardly a terrain 2 cache! This is easily 4.5 if not 5. I made something of an effort but with the wind blowing and concerned for my safety as I was alone I gave it up. It's not a DNF rather a "did not log". I am surprised none of the previous finders (all women apparently) raised any concerns.

I think the terrain needs revision. Nice idea but cachers should be aware.

After Corikra and Cat from Cat and aBear found a cache along the range road. We had Brunch at the tea rooms and then headed back down the rang when Cat received notification of another cache up the range we were 8kms from this cache. Parked car near GZ and walked in to find the cache. After a bit if searching Corikra made the find and grabbed the cache Big Grin. This is an interesting location and great hide.
Oh year it was an Big Grin FTF from the girls question is where are the boys Big Grin[?]

Yes, girl power Wink! This one was a FTF for us due to almost perfect timing. First I finished my night shift a little late, then we stayed a little while at Cat's place chatting to the other half of Cat&Bear who unfortunately had other plans and missed out on this lucky FTF. It took us longer than it should have to find 'Welcome to Condoritoville' and we decided to have a lazy brunch at the tea rooms (turns out we should have been a tiny little bit more lazy). All this put us in a very good position for this FTF Big Grin. If we hadn't already been on our way home, we would have made the find within 10 mins of it being published, but since we were already at the bottom of the Range it took us 20 mins (found at 12:01hrs)- still pretty good, I think.
I love windmills, they are so "australian" Wink. Would like to have more caches like this. Had lots of fun finding the container. Gets a favourite point from me Big Grin
Left a pathtag. TFTC
