Another of the awesome Rail series. Very early when I visited, so all quiet. Love the photo and interesting that Carnarvon is the largest town! After a dnf down the road I decided to call in here to make that one up. I like ticking off at least one of this rail series while Im away so was a win win anyway! Pulled up and could see it from the Ute. Replaced and put the one peice of camo against it again and giggled. TFTC
A small group of us from Team SEAC consisting of Keylev, Stik-A-Crane, Uncle Sam and ourselves had come down from Auckland to spend the long weekend caching in the Manawatu area. The plan was to get as many as possible. Along the way we had some great adventures, many laughs, met some interesting people and found a wide selection of caches. Signed SEAC to save space on the log. TFTC.This was day 4 of our trip and we headed South from our accommodation caching straight down SH1 to Levin and then through the towns back Himatangi. A nice quick find here, spotted from the car.
Managed to get the car really close for a true park and grab ....even saw the cache from the car.....Day 4 of our caching trip to Palmerston North area with HeMaLuDy, UncleSamNZ, Keylev, and myself, signing in as SEAC or TEAM SEAC to save logbook space. A big thanks to all the CO's for cache placement and maintenance, making this trip the success that it was. TFTC.
Day #4 of the Team SEAC extra long weekend little road trip for Labour Weekend.Ha ha spotted this one from the car...do we have to get out, can we photolog ha ha of course not!!!Thanks for the cache
Small group of caching buddies drove down from Auckland for the long weekend, and headed for Palmerston North area. Sorry for the generic posts, but we had so many caches to find.Had a great time, with so many laughs. Thanks to all the Cache owners who placed the caches. This was day 3 of our trip. All logs signed "SEAC" or "Team Seac"
Today TrinityNZ, Just_looking00, and I gathered in Foxton early in the morning to launch an assault on the Chewy Mint trail, the KAS trail, and assorted others that we happened across. Our aim for the day was 30 (absolute minimum), preferably 50. Our total for the day was 53, so more than satisfactory. We signed all logs as JMT. Most of the caches were easily found, some were a little rusty, some had wet logs. Where we could, we replaced any dodgy logs.
Bumped our way down the metal road to GZ. Quick find as per hint, though muggled by a herd of cows in the field. All good, tftc!

I’m out and about on this fine Easter Sunday with JustLookingOO and matagouri. We are heading north of Foxton to work towards some challenges, including 100 finds in April and 50 finds today.
I managed to find the correct spot first and snaffled the cache, disturbing some snails int he process. Log signed as JMT. Thanks to theSeagnoid for another rail cache

Chasing volume of caches found in a day with TrinityNZ and matagouri - this was perfect for that. Team name "JMT" was used in log.
Was on the only metal road we came across. The paddock of cows wearing collars wondered what we were up to.
A nice quick park and grab. TFTC

Another great cache in this series. It's become addictive to make sure I get a rail cache on each trip thru. Great old photo looking down the drive to. Thanks heaps The Seagnoid.
I thought I saw the cx looking back at me when I parked the Geovan, but it was just a leaf. The cx was a few cm farther in. TFTC.
Quick easy find on our way to Foxton to grab some caches.
I wrote in the log and concealed it carefully back as found,
TFTCSL Thanks the Seagnoid for this Traditional cache!

Midnight caching with kelly0 and amba. Awesome fun tonight! Cach is dry log . easy find.. thank you
Another evening out caching with Zenla. Tonights mission was Wall Road, and a few others that caught our eye. Mostly successful finds, though several damp logs and/or damaged containers. Once again completely soaked shoes, should bring gum boots instead lol. Logs were signed as K&Z. Quick easy find, last one for the night (now morning) Tftc
I interrupted a family of spiders A nice wee break from the 'exciting' rd to Wellington. TFTH
Heading home this afternoon from our overnight stay at Himatangi Beach and stopped to look for a small number of caches. This was the last of three we picked up. It was exactly where I was expecting it to be! #4760. TFTC.
Nice easy find ..another great piece of rail history thanks Theseagnoid ..cache is all good
We are on another adventure somewhere. We parked on the busy main highway and "ran" down the road to the cache. The tractor driver must have known where I was going as he just nodded and gave a "knowing" smile. Thanks for the cache the Seagnoid
After an enjoyable time at Himatangi Beach I talked the whanau into getting some caches on the way home.
A nice little cache

Up here from Kapiti with Flowerydaze on a caching expedition. all safe and dry here. TFTC the Seagnoid
I am slowly working my way through this interesting series about Manawatu Rail and this was another one ticked off. Thanks for the history the Seagnoid and thanks for the cache.
It's nice to get off the main road to grab a cache although the container is very dusty.
Headed out for the evening for some caching. Collecting a few more of this rail series. A bit dark by now but no problems finding the cache. Thanks
First find of the day with @peadub on a road trip from Wellington to Rotorua. Nice and easy find. TFTC.

Unsere Neuseelandrundreise Tag 9 - Weiterfahrt nach Wellington
# 48

Our New Zealand tour Day 9 - Continue to Wellington

Our tour to Wellington today was about 330 km drive. KLB12 drove to Himatangi Beach. There we stretched our feet on the beach. It was totally empty there. There was only a camper on the beach and a car with dog smuggling, but they were quickly gone. When we made our way back to the car, a unit of soldiers came walking along the beach in full gear with luggage. Unfortunately there was no cache on site. But we wanted to at least log a cache on the tour. The first one we came across was from peoples surrounded. There were two cars with their occupants. Cacher?
So we drove here. M quickly discovered the cache and I signed the logbook.
78 finds until the 5000th find. Will we still be able to do it in New Zealand?
Since my english is very bad, I use internet translators. I hope my log is still understood.

Stopped at five different locations between Wellington and Manawatu - found two and this is one of them. I was grinning the whole time while searching because I thought maybe the owners of No 21 were watching Good hint. Just signed log, didn't put anything in. Thanks for a not too difficult find that made me happy!
On our way to Wellington we stop here and search for this cache
Thanks for the cache Greetings from the Netherlands

on a mission 50 caches in one day, getting to 1000 caches and getting to the oldest cache in NZ, cache 1005, cache number 38 of trip. nice park and grab TFTC
Today was a numbers run for us. Lots of caches to choose from in this area so we did all but 2 of the KAS series, the mint tin series and some railway ones. 98 caches found in total and 2 DNF's something tells me we are going to have to go out again to find 2 more today. Many thanks to all the CO's of the caches we visited today, hugely appreciated and certainly love the quiet roads after Auckland.
Today was part two of my road trip home to Nelson from Auckland, after picking up my son's "new" car from Napier, taking me from Taihape to Wellington... with time to find a few caches along the way, of course. TFTC, Biggles.
Heading to Wellington Mega a day earlier with Squirrel Nutcase and NZ Flossy a day earlier.
Out to collect caches that we have previously passed.
So sorry cache owners, we had a fairly large find today so it's a copy and paste day.
Thanks everyone for their cache placements that we found. SLTFTC

WENZ Mega Weekend is almost here... Motoring south today with Gap (of Fap and Gap), and NZFlossy. Our intention is to cache our way to our accommodation in Lower Hutt... The big news of the day is that Highway 1 is closed at Pukerua Bay. A truck crash and chemical spill have shut down all lanes coming to and from Wellington. We have plenty of caches to find to keep us occupied, but this could be a long wait...
Friday: I have been looking forward to this next collection of caches; a sweep south from Sanson, along Highway 1. I am mostly looking forward to the historic railway caches in the Manawatu Rail series... This is the last of the rail series along the main highway for us. The cache is located very near to where my relatives live... TFTC.

On my way to the mega with Squirrel Nutcase and Fap and Gap. Having lots of fun and enjoying the ride and the scenery. It’s what I love about caching - great company and visiting great places. Thanks to all the COs for all their caches Hopefully we see some of them at the mega this weekend TFTC
Attending the Wellington MEGA, great to visit here from the sunny Bay of Plenty, I have created a template in Cachly for the weekend, so Please excuse generic logs in advance. A great place to visit and another smiley to boot-yay!! Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Day one for me and collecting a few on the way down. Cheers
Up for the Mega for the week, headed up the coast for a couple of days on family stuff, but did get few caches in for the day. many thanks to the cache placer's - Bitsprayer
I am on a solo geocaching trip. I flew in from Christchurch yesterday. My focus is on the two virtual geocaches in close proximity, some challenges, other finds in between and some near my accommodation in Foxton.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au

have set myself a goal to get the requirements for the mystery cache The well-rounded cacher challenge (Manawatu) This requires me to get 25 badges 5 of which need to be gemstone badges. So each time I go out caching weather it is by myself or with fellow cacher I will try to get a least one cache that will get me closer to my goal
Heading out to Hematangi today doing a loop around Wylie Road and state highway 1 down to Foxton with the plan the collect as many of the caches as I can along to help with getting the hidden creature souvenirs. I have my Dragon Souvenir. Now I working towards the World Turtle Souvenir
A slight detour off of the state highway to get the last cache of the day. Need to head back home to get to work on time Planning on coming back down on Monday or Tuesday with the hope of getting enough caches for the World Turtle Souvenir
The cache was a quick find
Thanks for the cache

Quick find while travelling north today. Picking up the unfounded caches on the way
I took a day off work to do some geocaching up in the Rangitikei area. Mostly to bulk out my numbers for the Hidden Creatures, but to also finish qualifying for a couple of challenge caches, plus a few other geocaching tasks. All good here. I grabbed the pathtag (little did I know that it wasn't a rare occurence ) TFTC
We're staying at Himatangi Beach for the long weekend. It is Easter Sunday and Tim and I came out nice and early to find a few caches before the big boxing match between Joseph Parker and Anthony Joshua. This was our first stop.
A nice easy one to start with.
The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.
Thank you

Found today with TwigNZ on our way to the KAS power trail, TFTC The Seagnoid.
My son and I have been trying to get around to doing the KAS trail for quite some time now, ever since we finished getting through the nearby Chewy Mint trail.
The Planetary Pursuits event currently running, and an available free day with my son over the Easter weekend, seemed like the perfect excuse to finally hit it!
So I planned a route that also took into account some other nearby caches, such as this one, making a grand total of 84 caches to be attempted today, curious to know if we could absolutely blast our previous record (40) for the number of finds for a day. As it turned out, we had just 5 DNF's, so it was a tremendous result that propelled us almost all the way to Pluto in 1 day! I now have a very tired, but happy lad.
I apologise for the generic 'cut n paste' style of my log, but with 79 to do tonight I figured it was the only way.
This was a straightforward find. The cache and logbook are in fine condition.
Having just had my first placement muggled a couple of weeks ago, I am very much in appreciation of all CO's who place and maintain caches for the rest of us to find. Thanks for all your efforts.

The second of the 2 caches we hand entered into the GPS after a café stop 20 m from the previous rail stop. No problems with the cache here. Pleased to add a few more north island rails to the Marlborourgh ones.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I had some spare time while in town visiting some of the rellies, so I thought Id do a few of the easy drivebys in the area. I had a great day and grabbed a heap of caches. Lots of damp and wet caches, but not surprising given the weather. I did find some that had been replaced, but found the original nearby. Signed one or the other depending on which I found first. Thanks to all the CO's for a great day and apologies for the generic log.
We were heading to Wellington, finding caches along the way to break up the journey. However, it seemed that for some time all the caches along the road were best done from the northbound lane. Since the traffic was heavy and we didn't fancy either running across it, or having to turn right to return to our southward journey, we had been bypassing them.
This was the first southbound cache for a while, so we stopped. We made an easy find and I found the pathtag the owner had left after doing maintenance on the cache. Thanks

#4438- We were heading from Waitomo to Wellington. On this section of road most of the caches were on the northbound side and because the road was busy, we didn't want to cross over.
We spotted this one, and took a slight left detour for a nice, quick, easy find. bikerbuddy found the cache and gave it to me to sign for us. There was a pathtag inside, so I gave it him, since he found it first. Thanks

#3796. I had the day off work so decided I needed another road trip to wrap up a very busy month (of geocaching). I am working on the DGSC challenge and foolishly decided to go for the bulk find elective which needs 1500+ cache finds in the year. But one month needed 300+ finds and I was close enough to that target in March so went for it today to get the remaining 61 caches I needed. So headed north to the tropics. Diverted off the SH to pick this one up. Interesting reading about the history of this area in the cache description. The hint was very helpful and quickly found the cache. Signed and returned where found. All good here. Thanks for the cache.
Fully revived after completing the KAS trail and a well-deserved and refreshing coffee we are back onto the task at hand. No worries with the find. I asked Sidewaze, who is much more knowledgeable about these things than me, what those birds were. She told me they were Spur Winged Plovers and how they got here from Australia. It was a bit of a laugh really because what I thought she said was spewing plonkers! Glad we got that sorted out. TFTC #9464
Another in the Manawatu Rail series. This one was being guarded by 2 snails and 3 slaters. TFTC.
18/10/16 17:15 Well placed series of caches with a point... unable to stop at the others going South so will hopefully pick them up on the way back. Thanks for these, Cheers, GC.
Sanson.
After checking into our accommodation we had lunch & a rest .
In the afternoon we headed out onto the KAZ trail. This was liking a tiki tour of the area around the farming country side.
Another one of the Manawatu rail series finished.
Thanks for placing this cache the Seagnoid

Found it second time. BTW this cache\station is Himatangi not Carnavron. That is about 15km north!
Yes, it is Carnarvon. Newzealandtrips obviously did not read the cache description!
the Seagnoid,
Nope, I can assure you that I was at this cache today and if you look on google maps it says that it is in Himatangi. The signs on the road say Himatangi. Carnavron is on the same road as Himatangi but is about 15km north. Carnavron was the old name for Himatangi. Google Himatangi and see what I mean. I don't want to argue but I'm just saying that this cache is in Himatangi

Driving to Wellington for a work experience day and this was on the way down, thought I might as well get it. Easy find, nice camo cache! Tftc!
I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.
Today I drove down to Foxton Beach for a more leisurely day of caching, with a focus more on numbers tomorrow. A nice quick park and grab here as I headed back towards Palmy. TFTC!

Was keen to get the one as one of my relatives farmed in this area in the 1800's TFTC
Was down in Wellington for a few days, and decided that I'd make an extra long weekend of it and transfer a rental car back to Auckland and cache along the way. Unfortunately for the rental agency that ment nearly tripling the km's they thought I'd put on it!
With the rental car company only giving me 48 hours to get the car to Auckland a little bit of planing was needed to maximise what I wanted to accomplish, and with only a few DNF's it turned out to be a very successful trip. So a big thanks to everyone who had placed caches along the way, and for showing me some great sight's along the way.
Day 1: Foxton through to Bulls.
Had a four legged muggle friend wander over to say hi, as I signed the log. Thanks for the hide.
