Found It!
A nice little tunnel and a quick find. No need to get wet feet today. But then had to go back to the car to get some pliers to open the cache with.

#1077 After the cache further along at the right angle we headed back towards this one to make another find. After finding our best access we headed into the second tunnel for the day. Turtle had begun trying to step in the distance needed right as I called out “I’ve got it”. Another cool little area to visit, thanks Tankengine for highlighting it

#2936 Our second tunnel for the day and after making our way back down to the right level we made our way in. Almost before I had even gotten my bearings DT had located the cache. Logged and replaced and back on our way!

Find #4708

The end of the Cooma trail for me and I just couldn’t resist a Tankengine tunnel that finish off a fairly successful 4 hours of caching.

So with all the rain there was running through the tunnel and a dam at one end. Getting dark I was grateful to have a couple of TOTTs. As always, the coords for this CO are spot on, but… on first pass I mistook the cache for a spider as there are lots of the around here.

I reached out to the CO for some assistance and voila, spiders moved out of the way to reveal a sneaky hide. CO tells me he employs these spiders as cache guardians and it only costs a fly a day

Thanks so much to Tankengine for the impeccable maintenance, log was pristine!

After speaking with the CO, went back to an original location and looked again - bingo. TFTC TE and FTH. Lovely day for caching especially after not being able to for months.

A straightforward find here... love these old tunnels! Thanks Tankengine.

With generous help from the CO I found this little lover of darkness, thanks

Out for a walk to regain fitness after knee replacement surgery.

A hike up and down Old Cooma Road.

The Blackberries got me, though not too badly!

I am Grumpy!
In memory of THEOLDREV.

19-Jun-20
Out with dty73 and Tankengine clearing up a few caches previously passed by. We have had a look at this one some time ago but the blackberries caused so many injuries we didn’t even log a DNF. Happily we were with the CO this time and the blackberries have died back giving easy access to GZ. TFTC Tankengine and a FP from us because of the lack of blackberries. Kutgw

Eeek! A nice, slimy drain for my last one today - I had better find it after DNFing my last one - it always makes me grumpy! Nicely tucked away - read previous logs and took the hint to carry a torch which helped but it's not really necessary for folks with decent eyesight. Thanks for the beaut caches today.

2nd find while out with [@coybear2000](http://coord.info/PR9547H) after a function in Royalla. We parked close by and headed through the tunnel. On reaching the other side we knew we'd better look more closely. With TOTT we spotted the hide. Log signed and all returned and back to the car we went. TFTC.

After finding a nearby cache with [@trodectus](http://coord.info/PR8JTE0) we headed to our next on list. Parked car and headed for a moist place. Cache located fairly quickly and log signed and returned. TFTC

Saturday drive to up my numbers, decided to do the old cooma road series but this one was first. The tunnel was found easy but the cache not so much as my gps was spinning, wasn't sure exactly where the cache would be so I turned over a rock and a massive lizard ran out. I chased the lizard to take a photo of it and ended up spotting the hide. Thanks tankengine

Out and about early for the new caches down here and the kept on going in the area till the 'real' tunnel was opening at 9.

This is such a cool spot for a cache. Nice and big tunnel easy to get to (thanks for including advice which side to come from) and even a suitable hide in here. This is great caching. A FAVpoint for yet another great cache spot.

Thank you Tankengine for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

Cache 5486 on 14 Sep 2019.

After some recent quick trips out for caching, I decided it was time for a proper geocaching mission, so TikvaNZ suggested we work towards the event in Bredbo , which suited me just fine! So we planned to grab a few of the newer TE caches and some solved puzzles along the way. All in all, I got 17 caches, 10 of them Tankengine caches, which was more than I bargained for! A bit more walking and fence clambering than I planned, but hey, that is geocaching! Start at 0730 and home by 1500 - thanks TikvaNZ for a proper day of geocaching!

This cache: last cache of the day, and a quick stumble through the grass to the tunnel. Found it on the way back through the tunnel!

Thanks Tankengine for the cache and the fun!

Day Fourteen in Queanbeyan.
BettyBoo3747 and I had a bit of a run down the Old Cooma Road in the rain, and when it eased a windy trip back through the suburbs.
It didn't look good from the road - lots of rain this morning, and a good crop of blackberries near the entrance.
Closer examination was better. Avoided the blackberries, and the tunnels was (mostly) dry.
Nice tunnel, tall enough to walk, but small enough to give good light.
A sneaky hide as expected.
Thanks, Robmc.

#15822. Day 14 of our 2 weeks holiday in the ACT and surrounds. We are staying at Carwoola.

We persevered with Plan A for the morning even though the heavens had opened during the night and it was still pouring when we left home. We gathered up most of the ones along Old Cooma Road although there were rivers running through all the road works along this section. After our pretty and scenic drive through the countryside we wended our way home tortuously through the suburbs collecting some caches for the Mapping Challenge. Collected 42 smilies for the day.

It was really pretty here this morning after the rain. We had to jump across the little creek to get to the tunnel and we went to the far end for a look - lovely. Tracking down the cache of course was another matter. Rob decided to employ a little bit of light and managed to locate the hide. Unfortunately, the log sheet here is chock-a-block full and needs maintenance urgently.

Thanks Tankengine

Found by Mary and David at 09:40:00. Today we start for home after a great week in Queanbeyan at the Clear Waters Mega. Another Tankengine cache ticked off as we slowly build up our total. Perhaps we should have done less socialising at the Mega and found more Tankengine caches. So many opportunities for this old railway. Pleased not to have to wade. A FP for your cache. Our thanks to Tankengine.

In Queanbeyan to attend the Mega. So great to get here early to spend time catching up with some many familiar faces. Always taking the time to grab a cache, when the opportunity allowed it.

This morning we were out with Di Morgan and Snakepittes. It was a great opportunity to grab some finds while on the way out along Cooma Road and retuning via the Monaro Highway. Had some fun and laughs along the way, while finding a number or good finds. We signed all the logs as DISH.

Thanks Tankengine for all the effort of placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play

Attending the Queanbeyan Clear Waters mega event, this was a day packed with hikes and power trails. Our team "LUCKY9" started off the day walking around Googong Dam targeting the Queen geocache trail, before then heading south through Royalla and visiting Michelago, and then heading north via Burra. A massive day caching indeed in great weather.

KB had found one of these tunnel caches the day before, so we had a good idea where it would be located. After a bried search, the cache and contents were in good shape. Thanks Tankengine.

Perfect Queanbeyan weather for Clear Waters Mega, has meant an opportunity
to explore the area, enjoy the scenery and of course look for caches along some country roads. Out and about today in the very good company of Alansee, Anderka, Gonefishen07, Muzza and Zobo04.
A number of teams arrived here simultaneously, it was interesting to see the different approaches - rushing to be first was not the best way today!

Spent some time today out caching with ilook4geo, while we were camping in the Showground. We did a series of caches along some roads and were happy with the haul we pulled in. Each log had both names noted on it and the container was put back where it had been found before we moved on to the next one. This was a bit more difficult and interesting than a park and grab cache, but still did not take very long to find. Our thanks go to Tankengine for adding this cache to the geocaching game.

It was a quick find once I negotiated my way into GZ.

Took to roads South with dty73 and Aquilus1 on a fantastic Winter’s day in a bid to find as many of the new power trail caches as possible (and other established caches where convenient). Big numbers were expected, and we weren’t disappointed.

Met up Northside at a comfortable 8.30am and headed towards passport control. Visas in order at Immigration we crossed the border to the Southside without incident. Eventually onto the Monaro Highway and wasn’t there a lot of traffic heading towards Canberra. End of school holidays/returning home from the snow traffic I guess. Don’t think it stopped all day, progressively just getting busier and busier.

Started then with a few early caches on the highway, with a left soon onto Williamsdale Road. Finds aplenty as we drove on, taking a right at the intersection onto Burra Road. More finds came thick and fast, with only the one DNF (of the day). Detouring we headed up Tinderry Road to the summit for some bonus finds, running into a few fellow cachers not far from the top, collectively then finding several more together. Great views afforded down and across the open expanse, snow sighted in the distance. Descended slowly back down the well maintained dirt road to the Burra Road trail and continued into Michelago. A cache at the neat and tidy train station followed by a ‘wished it was quick’ stop at the public facilities. Apparently an urgent ‘Needs Maintenance’ was sorely needed (fortunately for me I had previously taken a quick break, so no need for use here).

Back out to the highway and South for a few more, before retracing our steps and continuing North to Kelly Road. As a quick aside, we noticed a ‘throw down’ at one GZ, just past the turn into Michelago (North side). These types of caches may have a place in the game, if permission is sought and granted by the CO, or the CO has long since left the game, but, as this was part of the new power trail, rehidden by a previous finder two days before, exactly where it should be, the newly ‘deposited’ cache was removed. As a consequence, two particular cachers from the South Coast may wish to revisit and log their find, properly.

Ran again into the same rascals thereabouts that we were with along Tinderry. Continued conversations as we continually pulled up almost together with over the next 30 minutes before eventually heading our separate ways. Old Cooma Road next, and a quick stroll into a storm water drain before continuing the trail to the top of Burra Road. ‘It up’ed a few times before our final leg into Googong, finding the last caches for the day.

Time then to head home before we turned into Googonians, or, it was getting dark, it was already considerably cooler, and we were getting hungry. Dropped Aquilius1 and dty73 back at the carpark before heading over to the geoSister’s place who had been looking after The Matetrix for the day. Three cold refreshing crownies and a hot roast chicken with honey carrots, peas and broccoli dinner later, I was stuffed!!

Apologies for the generic logs, specifics will be added where pertinent. Details may not be 100% accurate, but are 100% how I recall them.

Thanks to dty73 and Aquilus1 for the great company and ALL the leg work, and andrewbt/LuckyL10n/Albida33 for the ‘shared’ finds.

And of course special thanks to ALL7 and all other CO's for all the hard work, keep it up.

Where to next?

#8274 - 10:00; A plan was hatched with albida33 a couple of weeks ago to hit the new trails along the roads leading to and from Burra and places nearby. An encounter at a recent event saw andrewbt join the mission and so it was we headed off today on a mission which would ultimately see me collect 132 finds with just a single DNF, while the others picked up more or less the same numbers. The weather was ideal and most of the caches were quickly located, although we did do some head scratching on a couple of occasions. We had just completed the Old Cooma Road series when we stopped for abt and I to collect this one as we headed south. Luckily the area leading to GZ was dry and after a wander through the tunnel, abt made the find on our way back. TFTC Tankengine Smile

We were on the search for some hidden creatures today. A stunning day and perfect to be out and about. Thanks TE

22-Jul-18
I had the day planned with IamCoust and Aquilus1 to hit up the newer trails down south to help obtain the Hidden Creatures Souvenirs. Aquilus1 and I had already collected all 100 caches that we required and IamCoust had less than half needed, however IamCoust and I had also a plan to bet our own personal best days to catch over 115 caches in a day. And Aquilus1 can never say no to a caching adventure.

We left the north side at 8:30am and found the last cache around 4:30/5pm. We had taken our time, but did concentrate mainly on those park and grabs.

We had a blast, the weather was perfect, the company couldn't have been better and we even ran into fellow caching friends - LuckyL10n, Andrewbt and Albida33 who we travelled with to a few caches.

This one was on the way and a nice change from the park and grabs we had been doing. We loved our little expidition into the tunnel and found the cache quite quickly all safe and sound.

Today was a day to head south with dty73 and IamCoust to see about a number of trails down that side. Dty73 picked me up at a respectable early time and we drove across to meet IamCoust who was to be our driver today. Ended up we couldn't have asked for a better day with good company, blue sunny skies and plenty of scenic country side it made for an enjoyable day out.

We started off with some of the 'Drive To Cooma' series along the Monaro Highway on our way down to the 'Burra' series. All easy to find but getting to a few on the opposite side of the road was a game of patience and then a dash, to get across the road through the endless stream of traffic. It was just unbelievably busy! We then made the turn into Williamsdale Road for the Burra series, I had previously completed up to #30 but then was able to pick up from #31 and complete the series with just the 1 DNF for the others that I had previously found.

The highlight of the day for me was the side trip up, up, up winding along Tinderry Road up towards 'Tinderry Tail'. A great winding road climbing up, it offered great scenery and views along the way and from the top. We bumped into another caching crew of LuckyL10n, Andrewbt and Albida33 along this road and met up with them at many other caches along the way for the rest of the afternoon. We caught glimpses of snow up on the peaks along this road still in the shadows as well.

We stopped for many other caches along the way as we passed, concentrating on the close to the road ones, battled the Monaro Highway yet again, which seemed to have got even busier on our way up to the kelly road series and then down for the 'Old Cooma Road' series and finishing up in Googong for the last few just on dark. Certainly found a lot of caches but the full day of caching with some great people out in some nice country side was perhaps the point here and it was a great day.

Thanks for the cache Tankengine. Had the time to get out the torch driving in, wasn't sure if we would need it but no harm having it. We parked at the well worn and close parking and made our way in to this great tunnel, something just a bit fun about old tracks and tunnels. The cache was found ok with the torch not that it was that dark anyway but spotted it right up.

Todays mission was all about filling yet another gap in the JASMER missing months and grabbing an oldie. Londons Loft was the target.... oh my lordie I am not sure that was a good idea at this time of year. I met up with Aquilus1 and dty73 who were going a bit ice silly out in Googong in the morning.

On the way I was also grabbing a few here and there that I had missed previously. This was one of those.

Reasonably quick find, I kind of guessed where it would be but missed it on the first pass but had no such problems on the return trip.

**FIND #177 OF 200**

Well, the day is here! A day I had planned for quite some time. 200 finds in one day with Loci612. We started out just after 6am, in absolutely freezing temperatures given it had been -7 degrees overnight. With a very tight plan for the caches today, we headed out to find our first cache at 6:38am. From then on, it was a very tidy stream of finds. We hit a hurdle with Paddy's Pass but eventually made the find. After that, all the finds were relatively easy until the section of ALL7 caches heading south along Tidbinbilla Road. A few of these caches caused us some strife but we eventually found all of them.

After driving all morning finding caches, it was nice to get out and stretch our legs with DARKSIDEDAN and joeylovestreasure's Vampire Trail. Some enjoyable finds out there! After that we headed out to Burra to pick up the new ALL7 caches along the roads out there. A lot of nice and quick park and grabs and our first DNF of the day, on Burra #24. A few caches in and around Michelago and then we were off to Old Cooma Road for the last couple of caches for the day. I found I was one short at the end of it all so we swung by a quick cache in Fadden to make 200 finds for the day!

Lots of ALL7 caches for the day and a few other ones thrown in the mix. All logs were signed CL or LC with the date 12/7. Thanks to all the COs who placed caches that we found today!

**Cache #174 of 200 for the day! Big Grin**

A while ago Cankid came up with a crazy plan of attempting to find 200 caches in a single day with the help of the recently published trails by ALL7 and lots of extra's thrown in along the way. I said I was in and a plan was hatched!

The day started at 5:30am when I drove down south to meet up with Cankid, and we soon headed off soon afterwards, picking up cache #1 at **6:38am!** The temperatures started off below 0°C for the first couple of hours and we struggled to open the containers and sign the logs with numb hands. The day soon warmed up however and the layers were taken off and we powered through all the caches on our pre planned list!

Cache #100 was then found at **12:37pm** almost exactly 6 hours after we started and halfway through our goal.

Cache #150 came at **2:57pm**, we had only rested for about 15 minutes by this point to have some lunch!

We were soon very close to the target but the last couple of caches were slower ones back in Canberra just to finish off the powertrails with something more interesting. By the time we were all finished up it was **6:51pm**, not a bad effort considering and just over the 12 hour mark! It was certainly a long day!

P.S Sorry for the generic logs, but 200 caches was a lot to take in! All the ones I remember have extra comments down the bottom

---

*We signed the log either **C.L or L.C with the date 12/7**, for Loci612 and Cankid. We had a miscommunication and depending who signed the log put a different letter first Razz*

**This Cache:**
Well I found "Tankengine's Tunnel II" only 2 months ago and loved every minute of it! I specifically said in my log that your other two tunnel caches were high on my list!

I found the first one only a few weeks later, and now here I am finding the final one only 2 months later! Big Grin Didn't think it would be as part of a 200 cache run, but definitely one of the highlights this trip!

I was familiar with the last two hides so while Cankid went through the tunnel and searched one location, I searched another. I quickly came up with the goods and called him over to sign the log. Sweet!

Thanks Tankengine, wish I got a photo of this one but was too much in a rush to think about that, maybe next time!

Found this one at last! On my last visit there was a fair bit of water flowing through the tunnel and I had to watch my step. Today it was completely dry and I could have a good look and soon found the cache. Good to get this one done!

Thanks,

Found with Kittykatch and Darksidedan on a lovely sunny day (pea soup northside when we left). Decided to try and get to 150 for the day. Not to difficult as when I realised it was a Tankengine cache I though we could be here for hours Smile TFTC

Not done a tunnel cache in ages, so was nice to do this one. A bit of a clamber down to walk to the tunnel. It did take a while to find but with a little bit of extra searching, I soon spotted a likely place and there it was. TFTC.

After doing a bee run with Genghicat we decided to finish the day off with a few caches on the way home. I took a quick walk through the tunnel then went high and found berries, found more berries and more and.... I have a tummy ache. Ok now back to searching the tunnel. Found it. And now thanks to GC I have a hat full of berries to take home. Yum. Great placement Tankengine.

Found 3:29 pm with girl friend. I had been on a mission to rescue my Geocaching Australia gnome about 10k's south of Bombala and so we had decided to make a weekend of it and stay in Bombala overnight. This was our eighteenth cache attempt on the return trip. Parked the geovehicle nearby and we headed over to GZ. As we entered the zone I had my suspicion of location and the very good coord positioning pretty much had me spotting the cache using some light would help too. The girlfriend had moved past it but my nose send something else. Signed the log and returned the cache to its hide.
Thanks for the cache.

Great tunnel. Wasn't sure if we should be in the tunnel or above it but so one worked it out.

#3371 1 of 6 today.

Day 1 of our trip out to the coast. CBRChic, myself joined Boeing737 and JetFusalage for some caching around the Bega/Merimbula area. We set out from Canberra about 11:30AM and headed down the Monaro for some caching fun.Today was hot. The car said 36C at one stage & it felt like it. We didn't grab too many caches on the way. Our first major stop was Bemboka to grab the new Beboka River trail just down behind the cemetery.

This was an ad-hoc stop along the way. CC had already found this one, but I made the find fairly quickly. Tricky spot.

TFTC Tankengine.

F(H)ound It! #1992 - @ 7:50 AM

Heading down to Cuttagee to talk to our builder. Just me and the Ridgeo-Pup (no Reluctant Geospouse) so I can get as many caches as time allows Smile.
A little early morning traffic to dodge before skipping over to the tunnel. This was harder than I was expecting. But a very cute tunnel.
Thanks for the cache Tankengine
